After a moment of silence, he answered, "I'm going to drive there right now. Wait for me at the gate of W University. If she really is my sister, I promise to give you a generous reward."
Rosaline walked up to him just as he hung up the phone. She brought a bowl of pork congee for Lyman to eat, only to find out that he was about to leave.
Rosaline was confused. She asked, "Lyman, you haven't eaten your breakfast yet. Where are you going?"
Lyman walked up to her and kissed her on the forehead. "Rosaline, I found Inna. I'm going to check if it's really her."
Rosaline was elated to hear the news. "Really? You found Inna? Are you sure?"
Lyman took a deep breath after tidying up his suit. He replied, "Don't worry. Inna has a birthmark on her arm. I can use that to confirm if the detective is right."
Rosaline heaved a deep breath. She felt excited as she looked at Lyman's retreating figure. She really wished they could find Inna.
Lyman quickly walked towards the garage to ride his white sports car. After sitting in the driver's seat, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He wanted to calm himself down.
He held the steering wheel tightly and whispered, "Inna, you must wait for me. I will come find you soon."
He then started the engine and proceeded to drive towards the school. All he wanted at the moment was to arrive there as soon as possible.
After a few minutes,
he arrived at W University. The detective walked up to him as soon as he saw Lyman get out of the car.
Lyman straightened his suit before anxiously asking, "Have you really found my sister?"
The detective handed him a photo and said, "Sir, this is your sister. She was adopted from an orphanage by a couple with the surname Lin. She has lived a good life thus far and has excellent grades, albeit being a little antisocial. She only has frequent contact with her good friend."
Lyman gripped the photo in his hand. The story of his sister's life made him feel depressed.
He walked towards the campus. The thought of meeting Inna soon made him feel an indescribable joy in his heart.
Holding a book in her hand, Inna nervously looked at her watch. She had been waiting for too long. Was the detective lying to her?
Lyman saw Inna's waiting figure from a distance and quickly walked towards her.
When he finally stood behind her, he called out in a trembling voice, "Inna."
She felt shivers all over her body after hearing his voice. Inna stood up stiffly before turning around to face the man behind her. Seeing him made her mind flood with childhood memories.
Lyman walked closer and gently put his hands on her cheeks. He felt a familiar feeling, a connection, and hugged her tightly.
"Why did you only come now? I thought you had abandoned me."
"Inna, why would you say that? You are my most beloved sister. How could I abandon you? I've sent people to look for you for three years now. I would've found you much earlier if only the orphanage you used to live in was easy to find."
Lyman dropped his arms to roll up her sleeve. He was faced with a birthmark that looked like a cherry blossom. This was it. He confirmed that this little girl is her beloved sister.
Inna hugged him and said, "I thought you didn't want me as your sister anymore. I thought that was why you didn't look for me for so many years."
Holding her hand, Lyman guided her to a nearby bench to sit down. He brought out a one-million-dollar check from his wallet.
He handed the check to the detective and said, "This is your reward. Thank you for your efforts for the past year. If you need anything in the future, don't hesitate to contact me."
The detective was more than happy after seeing the check. He nodded, "Alright. Thank you for your generosity. I will always be at your service."
After the detective left, Inna frowned and asked, "Why did you appear all of a sudden? Where have you been all these years?"
Lyman rested his head on his hand. "I studied abroad. After I graduated, I established a restructured company. I came back now to finally avenge our family. It's time to get back the things that were taken from us twenty years ago."
To his surprise, Inna pulled away and looked at him with a strange look. "Can you stop seeking revenge? So many years have passed already. That thing tore our family apart and caused us to be separated for many years. I don't want to lose you again."
Patting her cheek for comfort, Lyman smiled and said, "You little fool. Your brother is no longer the boy I was twenty years ago. I now have the ability to protect myself. This time, I can deal with the whole Shao family."
Suddenly, Sherry's voice rang out, calling for Inna. "Inna, here you are. I've been looking for you for a long time."
Lyman's faced darkened upon seeing the woman. He asked, "Inna, do you know her?"
With an oblivious smile on her face, Inna held his arm tightly and introduced him to the newcomer. "Sherry, this is my brother. We haven't seen each other for more than 20 years."
