Chapter 7 I Need Money

"Leon Lu, what did you do to my mother?" Daryl's face became pale, glaring at Leon with eyes swollen in anger.

Leon looked handsome and neat with a suit on, but he could no longer hide his disgust towards Daryl.

He opened his thin lips and let out a smile that made people shiver. "Nothing, I just told her that I divorced you. I'm disgusted with you for having an affair with another man."

Daryl's pale face made him satisfied. "I also told her that I was going to marry Candida and asked her to come to our wedding."

How shameless!

Daryl trembled in anger. "Are you still human, Leon Lu? Don't you know that my mother has a heart problem? You could have killed her!"

"You're the one responsible for this! You forced me!" Leon's expression turned malicious. "I tell you. You either hand over that little bastard as soon possible, or you restore Candida's reputation and compensate for my loss. Do one of those and I won't let your mother die!"

Last night, Leon dug up some information about the little boy, but found nothing of substance.

Whose child could this be?

Clenching her fists, Daryl yelled hysterically, "No way! Get out!"

"Just a reminder. This is all on you." Leon let out an insensitive laughter. "I cut off your mother's medical fees. The hospital will kick her out after three days!"

Leon clearly knew that her mother meant so much to Daryl.

"Besides, don't you want to know whom I sold that child to? Don't try to play tricks on me. If you dare to do that again, you will never see your son again for as long as you live." Leon laughed grimly.

Daryl trembled in rage. She was stunned about what he said. "You know where Sam is?"

Her mother and Sam were the most important people in Daryl's eyes.

"My answer will depend on your performance."

"Give Sam back!" Daryl stopped Leon, unwilling to let him go.

"Fuck off!" Leon shook Daryl off impatiently and pulled her hair.

"What are you doing? Don't you make a scene here! This is an emergency room!" a doctor who passed by scolded Leon sternly.

Leon let Daryl go and threatened her before leaving.

As a businessman, Leon cared about his public image. The Lu Group was in trouble. He could not dare to discredit the company.

Daryl fell down on the chair awkwardly,

feeling as if she was stabbed with a knife in the chest.

Leon's threat struck through her word by word, if it were not for her mother and Sam, Daryl would kill Leon.

But she couldn't get Benjamin involved.

After a long while,

the light of the emergency room went out.

"Doctor, how is my mother?" Daryl rushed to the doctor.

"Although she has been rescued, she has to stay in the ICU for observation. Don't irritate her again." The doctor escorted the patient to the ICU. The diagnosis sounded serious.

Looking at her unconscious mother, Daryl's heart was crushed.

"Mom, I'm sorry."

Jim, the butler, felt sorry for her. "Daryl, how could Leon bully you like that? I really didn't expect him to be such a spiteful person. What should we do next? We still owe the hospital medical expenses."

Daryl clenched her fists and bit her lips in rage. "Jim, thank you for taking care of my mother these past few days. If anything happens, please call me as soon as you can."

She could no longer let her mother's life be endangered again.

"But we don't have any money."

"I'll handle that."

Back then, she had won two Best Actress Awards at the age of 20. Her beauty and fame were unparalleled. She had a lot of endorsements.

It was the most dazzling time of her life, but Daryl quit for Leon's sake.

It had only been five years, and everyone was getting better, except for her.

Without hesitation, Daryl turned around and called Sofia.

The two met in a restaurant in private.

Sofia felt sorry for Daryl. "How's Aunt Abbey? Is she okay?"

"It's not going so well. Leon threatened me with my mother's life," Daryl said.

"You don't need to worry about the medical fees. I can lend you money. What we need to worry about is Leon."

Daryl was lost in thought with what Sofia said.

What she said was right.

She was unable to stop Leon.

"Why don't you go to Zack Ji?" Sofia suggested. "His son likes you so much and wants you to be his mother. Why don't you curry favor with Zack? He is richer and more powerful."

"No, I can't." Daryl did not want to involve Benjamin in this.

Holding a cup of hot water, Daryl lowered her head and took a sip. The mist filled her eyes, making her sour eyes sore.

She sighed internally.

Back then, in order to marry Leon, Daryl decided to terminate the contract. Sofia was there to stop her, but Daryl didn't listen.

Now, it turned out Sofia was right.

"Sofia, can I be in show business again?" Daryl bit her lips. She looked determined.

Sofia frowned. "You have a pretty face, and that is your advantage. But now, there are many young and pretty girls in this industry. You don't have a solid background. You'll be having a hard time."

"I know it's difficult, but I need to be in a place where everyone can see me, so that Sam can find me."

Daryl wanted to make money to help her mother get well.

She wanted to stand in the brightest spot.

She wanted to find Sam back.

Sofia looked worried. Suddenly, an idea came to mind. She bit her lips and asked, "Can you risk everything?"

"I can take any script, Sofia." Daryl bit her lips tightly and took a deep breath. She knew that if she wanted to get back in show business, she had to do something she did not want to do. She was divorced and had nothing now. She was willing to do anything to make money.

"Do you still remember Jackson Han, the famous director? Tomorrow, he will choose a female supporting role for his new play, Queen of Charm. If you don't mind, you should try it."

Jackson Han!

How could Daryl forget the person who made sexual advances on her when she started her career? This person has asked her for sex more than once, but she refused every time.

Daryl knew better than anyone what that director was like.

But now, Daryl had no other choice.

"Sofia, I'll go," Daryl answered determinedly without any second thoughts.
