Chapter 10 Let's Break Up (Part One)

It was only when most of the people in the room left that Claire asked the attending physician in confusion, "Doctor, what baby are you talking about?"

The doctor looked at her with a smile and answered, "Congratulations, Mrs. Jiang. You've been pregnant for a month. Your baby is very healthy!"

In an instant, Claire's face turned pale. Her voice trembled along with her hands when she grabbed the doctor's arm. "My baby? Did you just say I'm pregnant?" What did she mean she had been pregnant for a month? And why did the doctor call her "Mrs. Jiang"?

The doctors in the ward looked at each other. It should be many woman's dream in J City to be pregnant with Chason's child. But why didn't Claire look excited at all? In fact, she looked so unhappy.

Was she too happy that she lost her mind?

What they didn't know was that the news had completely frightened her! She felt so hopeless that she collapsed on the bed. Although she had always liked children and had imagined countless times that she would have a child one day, she didn't expect that it would come true in this way. After all, from beginning to end, the only man she had fantasized to be the father of her child was Lucas.

Meanwhile, Chason, who sent his grandfather away, was not as calm as he appeared to be. He was leaning against the wall, with his mind occupied by the woman inside the room.

It felt surreal that he was now a father to a child of the woman he didn't even love.

However, he had no choice but to get married according to his grandfather's will. It was just a marriage certificate anyway.

It was not as if he was losing anyway. He had never lost in his life. No matter what happened, he could get it back in the end. So this matter was nothing at all. Well, he would have a good play with her.

Thinking of this, he sneered and pushed the door open.

What came into his sight was Claire, who was crying on the bed, surrounded by the medical staffs.

This scene made him squint coldly at her.

Wasn't she going too far in acting? He almost believed that she really didn't want the baby!

When the doctor saw him walking over, he seemed to have grasped a life-saving straw. "Mr. Jiang! Mrs. Jiang is..."

"Well, you can go out now." There was no hint of emotion in his voice, so nobody could tell how he was feeling.

Even when she heard the familiar voice, Claire still didn't raise her head.

How could she look at the man that caused this? She had a child with this man!

"Is that how much you dislike this baby?" Sitting on the chair, Chason looked straight at her, as if he wanted to see through her thoughts and her schemes.

Holding back her tears, Claire finally raised her head to meet his eyes. Although she knew that he might also have been framed, she didn't want to show any weakness in front of him when she thought of what he had done after she woke up that day.

When she didn't say anything, Chason's lips formed into a lopsided smile. "Did your company exploit you? Are you so dissatisfied with the company?"

The topic changed a little fast, which made Claire unable to understand what he meant.

However, in Chason's eyes, Claire's silence had another meaning.

This woman was really good at acting. She looked so naive and innocent that even his grandfather was fooled. On the contrary, he couldn't be easily swayed by her.

"Since you don't seem to know who I am, I'll introduce myself. I'm the CEO of the J Group. The man who just left is the chairman of the J Group, my grandfather."

As soon as Claire heard this, her eyes widened in shock. She couldn't believe she was pregnant with the child of the CEO of their company! That night, it was her boss who had sex with her!

"You are lying!" No... This couldn't be happening. Claire couldn't accept it.

At the sight of how her reaction changed, Chason's eyes had been filled with irony. 'I'll let you be the CEO's wife for a few days.'

"Marry me as soon as possible," he stated. "What?" To say that she was shocked was an understatement. Did she hear it right? Was her mind playing tricks on her? Had she gone crazy? With these questions in her head, she looked up at the arrogant man in front of her in disbelief. "Marry you?"

Was this woman playing cat and mouse with him now?

With a sneer, he replied, "Yes. I'm too busy to give you more time to think about it. Now you just need to say yes."

The truth was, there was no room for her to think at all. Like an emperor sitting on his throne, Chason looked at her impatiently.

Gritting her teeth, Claire asked, "What if I say no?"

"I'm afraid in your current situation, you can't refuse me at all." Then he crossed his legs and put his hands on his knees. "If you marry me, you will have the chance to be with the baby until he is born. Otherwise, I'm afraid you won't have the chance to give birth to the baby at all."

At the mention of the baby, Claire's maternal instinct kicked in. Thinking about the man's last sentence gave her goose bumps.

Although the child came at a bad time, he was still her child. She didn't want him to suffer. The baby was innocent after all.

When the chairman was here, she saw how concerned he was about the baby. On the other hand, Chason didn't want to admit her at all. Therefore, after she gave birth to the baby, she knew she would never be allowed to be with him.

There seemed to have chaos inside Claire's head. At this point, she really didn't know what to do.

After what happened that night, her father became even more distant. It seemed like he could never forgive her for what she did. If he knew that she was pregnant, he would surely disown her. Moreover, now that she already had a baby, she knew it was impossible to be with Lucas again. All her dreams had vanished into thin air. The worst thing was that she was currently employed in a subsidiary company of the J Group, which meant it would be difficult to keep her job now.

After thinking for a long time, she realized that there was only one thing she could do now; it was to protect her unborn child. The child was innocent, so he shouldn't shoulder the sins of his parents before he was born. If everything could not be redeemed, at least, she could protect the child well.
