Chapter 8 Do You Want Me To Accompany You

Soren Wang had the kind of visual that could attract women with a single glance.

With an easy smile on his face, he gazed affectionately down at Elsa. At that moment, she felt like she was the heroine of an idol drama.

Reaching out his hand, he said, "Elsa, let's go downstairs."

Elsa hesitated. She glanced at Jane, who gave her a bright, approving smile. After all, Jane preferred Soren to Greenwood for her.

Elsa placed her hand onto his warm palm. Her cheeks were ablaze with shyness. Soren walked out of the room with his eyes straight ahead. He had thought that Elsa would look beautiful once she was dressed up, but she was more gorgeous than he had imagined.

Her skin looked pale and soft, and her misty eyes sparkled. She looked both delicate and capable, with the kind of beauty that was real and lasting instead of fleeting. Even so, she looked very young-more like seventeen instead of twenty-seven years old.

The only thing that marred her beauty was the pair of large black-rimmed glasses that were still on her face.

Although today's wedding ceremony was very simple, he did not have anything prepared so he came to pick her up himself. In this way, Elsa would feel that she had his respect and attention.

Looking at the beautiful, perfectly matched couple in their wedding attire, Jane said quietly, "Sasa, you must be happy in the future."

"Wow..." All of the guests held their breath in admiration as the couple entered the banquet hall. Everyone was smiling at her, just like five years ago. It was the first night of their wedding, and according to custom, she had invited her friends and family for the wedding dinner. The only difference was that no ceremony took place. She basked in the warm feeling of being surrounded by happiness. However, the feeling did not last.

Elsa didn't know why, but she was suddenly beset with nerves. Her hand, which was securely held by Soren, felt cold and clammy, and she felt extremely uncomfortable. The faces of the guests suddenly overlapped with those of people in the past. She was overwhelmed by how strange yet familiar the scene was.

"Elsa? Elsa?" Soren called her name multiple times, bringing her back to the present.

The waiter brought in tea. Zed and Mia were looking at her with expectant smile, waiting for her to serve the tea.

"This is a special tea, Elsa." Even with how soft it was, Soren's speaking voice was so powerful that it brought her out of her reverie.

"Grandpa and grandma, please have some tea." Elsa took the tea from Soren's hands and respectfully offered the elders the tea. Zed and Mia drank the tea happily. Then, they placed two large red envelopes into Elsa's hands "Grandpa, grandma, I've already received your presents this morning. You didn't have to prepare these. How can I receive them again?" she asked in surprise

"Silly girl, this is just a small thing. How can you not accept it? Just take it," the old couple grumbled.

Elsa looked at them in confusion, but Johnson and Blanche only laughed at Elsa's expression. "Oh, come on, don't be silly. They gave it to you because they love you. It's etiquette. Just keep it."

Feeling a little better, she accepted the envelopes. However, she felt that she couldn't take the money, no matter how much of it there was in the envelopes. She could feel that the Wang family members were eagerly awaiting news of Soren's marriage, so they were all kind to her. She knew that she couldn't do anything to repay their kindness, but she couldn't accept their gift for nothing.

Soren turned toward Johnson and Blanche to serve them tea and said in a clear, sincere voice, "Father, Mother, please have some tea. I am so sorry that my parents were unable to come here today."

Johnson and Blanche had watched the attitudes of Soren and his family throughout the afternoon. They didn't find any fault with Soren, so they pushed aside their doubts and smilingly handed him two red envelopes. Soren accepted the envelopes with grace. "Thank you, Dad, Mom."

After serving the tea, Sorer looked over at Elsa and saw how nervous she was. She was trying her best to avoid eye contact with the guests. Most of the guests were invited by Zed and Mia, so he assumed that she was feeling uncomfortable. He patted her hand and asked her, "Nervous?"

"A little," Elsa replied with a small, embarrassed smile on her face. "It doesn't matter, though-I can handle it."

"Shouldn't you take off your glasses?" asked Soren.

"No, I can't. My myopia is pretty bad, so I wouldn't be able to see anyone's faces if I removed my glasses," Elsa replied with a smile, coloring a little.

Soren stared at her and said, "We need to give a toast to the relatives later, so you can take them off then. You will be more comfortable if you take off your glasses later, as long as they can see you clearly even if you can't see them.

He was so attentive that he had picked up the way she held her breath in front of so many people. Elsa was surprised. How could a man be so sensitive and considerate?

In fact, he was under no obligation to care about her feelings. After all, those were all her issues and her past-he didn't have to put up with them.

Following his advice, Elsa reached up and took off her glasses. Soren took off her glasses first and handed them to a hotel staff. "Miss, please have the front desk keep these glasses for room 238. I'll pick them up after the dinner."

His warm hand grazed her cheek, and she felt that warmth in her heart. Elsa involuntarily lowered her head slightly. In the eyes of others, it was such an intimate scene that made those who saw them envious.

Everyone was talking about the unmistakable affection between Soren and Elsa. Without her glasses, Elsa felt like she was in dreamlike trance, but she could clearly hear what they were saying.

Even so, she felt a lot more comfortable without her glasses on.

There were only six tables in total for their dinner party. The number of guests easily reached dozens, and it would take some time to give a toast to everyone.

She couldn't see clearly what was going on, so she had to follow Soren. She did whatever he asked her to do. That night, in order to repay him, she kept following him with a sincere and somewhat confused smile.

Everyone just kept doting on the bride and giving her toasts. Elsa kept drinking one soft drink after another. Soon, all of the drinks she had drunk caught up with her, and she felt the urge to go to the toilet.

With her terrible eyesight, Elsa could barely see anything through what seemed like a heavy fog. She racked her brain, but she couldn't determine where Jane was. Finally, she tugged at Soren's sleeve. "I need my glasses."

Soren immediately replied, "Okay, I'll take you to them." Soren took her by the hand. "How bad is your eyesight anyway? Your glasses looked like they have a high degree!"

"More than 800. My eyes also have other issues, so I could barely walk without my glasses." A wave of shame flashed through her eyes. It wasn't exactly a secret, but she usually didn't go around sharing this information to others.

However, she found herself easily trusting him.

Upon hearing this, Soren stopped dead on his tracks, stunned. Elsa almost ran into his back. She looked up at him, but she couldn't see his face. Her eyes were misty, and her eyelashes were long and curled. Her eyes were beautiful, but they were usually obscured by her glasses.

When they arrived at the front desk, Soren asked the receptionist for the glasses. Although most of the stuff that Soren had deposited were there, the glasses were not. He looked around but couldn't find them.

Elsa was on the edge that night, so Soren said in a soothing voice, "Don't worry, I'll be with you the entire night. It's okay for me to take care of you, isn't it, Elsa? "

"But I..." Elsa stammered, blushing as red as an apple. Ducking her head shyly, she said, "I want to go to the bathroom."

It was so humiliating! She really wanted to dig a hole in the ground and bury herself.

Due to her embarrassment and absence of her eyeglasses, Elsa failed to notice the smile on Soren's face. Soren took her hand, feeling the irresistible urge to coddle her. He didn't let go of her until he was sure she could walk into the bathroom by herself.

She entered and suddenly heard a man's muffled voice in what she thought was the ladies' room. A man? In the wrong place? Elsa panicked and walked out. "What's wrong, Elsa?" Soren asked

"I'm fine," she said, shaking her head. "The thing is, I can't see clearly."

"Do you want me to accompany you?" Soren asked in a concerned voice.

Of course, asking for his assistance would be too much. It really wasn't necessary for him to offer to accompany her to the ladies' room. Elsa refused him immediately. After taking note of where the bathroom was, she walked toward it. She knew that Soren wouldn't joke about the room, so she entered without hesitation. She was relieved after she confirmed it.

"Elsa? You look gorgeous tonight! I almost didn't recognize you!" Lily Cai, who was usually aloof and standoffish, greeted her in an uncharacteristically flattering tone.

When Elsa heard the familiar voice, she turned but could only see a blurred figure who was approaching her and another figure who quickly walked past her. "Hello, Lily. What a coincidence!" She nodded toward the direction of the blurry figure.

Although Lily Cai was the deputy editor, everyone assumed that she was the editor because the position of editor-in-chief was vacant.

"Indeed," the woman replied in a low voice. "Are you coming in, too?" Her voice was a little strange when she said it.

"Yes," Elsa replied with a nod.

All in all, the conversation felt odd. It was a greeting of sorts or small talk, but it wasn't. After the short exchange, both women fell silent. Then, Lily said, "I'll go ahead. Goodbye."

"Bye," said Elsa.

Her time in the bathroom was uncomfortable. The thought of Soren being outside made her feel uneasy even though there was some distance between and he couldn't see or hear anything.

When she came out, she heard Soren talking on the phone, "You won't come to the banquet? Okay. But you have to give my car back. I'll give you half an hour!"
