Chapter 6 Mr. Mark Became A Slave In Love

After hearing the terrifying explosion coming from the room, Mark's men figured Mark would teach Jessie a lesson.

After all, she dared to do it in front of Mr. Mark. Furthermore, Mr. Mark, had never been tolerant before. Yet to their utter disappointment, he didn't even blame her for the mischief.

If the same thing had been done by somebody else, he never would have let them go. That person would have had hell to pay. After witnessing this, they couldn't help but feel envious of Jessie.

From the looks of it, Mr. Mark had become a slave.

The calm way he had reacted didn't discourage Jessie in the least bit. There was a saying, "Failure is the mother of success and perseverance means victory!" She firmly believed it.

'Since he seemed unperturbed with what he saw today, how about I give him some more surprise?

Well, not surprise. I will give him endless troubles!' she thought, her face breaking into a smile.

It turned out Jessie was determined to put her ideas to fruition. In the following days, she enjoyed playing similar balloon tricks. It caused chaos. Some days they had smoke fogging up the whole place and the next day the fountain began to blow up. To sum it up, her mischiefs knew no bounds.

As the days passed, her experiments became more and more dangerous.

What was more, her chaos didn't happen during the day time. Instead, they would hear explosions in the middle of the night, waking them with a start. Their lives had become a living hell.

No matter how hard they tried to convince Mark, he seemed calm and unbothered. He would shrug it off and say, "Well, I know. Let her do it." By ignoring her, he had given her the license to do whatever she wanted.

Mr. Mark was calm, but his subordinates could not remain calm.

After all, they were killers. Instead of scaring people, they were compelled to look after this girl who was causing nothing but troubles.

If things continued to go on like this, they would soon get titled as babysitters. Their job as killers would become nothing but a history.

In the Lin Family, Darren was writhing with rage.

"Darren, don't be angry. It's not worth it if your body is affected"

"Humph! She had better not to come back. Otherwise, I'll teach her a lesson!"

Darren spat out. He was mad at Jessie. The Lan family was discontented with the Lin family because Jessie had broken the appointment. They took Jessie for a wild child who lacked education and refinement. As a result, they proposed to cancel the engagement immediately.

It was with great difficulty that Darren had formed an alliance with the Lan family. If he had known Jessie would cause such a trouble, he would have arranged Ellie to be engaged.

And now, he could do nothing but regret his decision.

"Lee." The moment Lee heard his name, he came running. "Did you find Miss Jessie?" he asked.

"Not yet."

"Keep looking. Even if she is dead, I want you to bring me her dead body."

Just then, a servant rushed inside and announced, "Master, Miss Jessie is back."

When he was finished speaking, they saw Jessie walking inside.

"So you have decided to come back? I thought you would live happily, not caring about your family. Do you know that we have offended the Lan family because of you? Have you ever thought about your father?" With a look filled with disgust, Ivy glanced at Jessie.

Jessie noticed this but she could say nothing. She turned her face to Darren.

Ivy glared at her like she wanted to eat her up.

Jessie clenched her fists.

She knew that Darren would definitely punish her.

"Dad, I didn't mean to. I was kidnapped the second I stepped outside."

"Kidnapped?" Darren repeated and continued to look at her. Ivy snorted and questioned, "Why didn't the kidnappers call and ask for ransom? I am pretty sure they didn't get any money from you. How come you are back unharmed? Jessie, if you plan on lying, at least attempt to make a believable lie. Don't think we are idiots!"

"I..." Hearing Ivy's words, Jessie didn't know what to say. She felt wronged, but at the same time she couldn't come up with a better explanation.

She knew that the kidnappers had taken her because they wanted the jade pendant. However, she couldn't tell anyone about it. Before she did, she wanted to know who the jade pendant belonged to. And if there was a secret behind it, she wanted to know it too. As for why the man had suddenly let her go, she had no idea. It was a mystery she hadn't unraveled either.

"Lucy, get me the whip."

The fact that Jessie had made up such a lame excuse angered Darren even further.

"Mr. Darren, Miss Jessie..."

"Hurry up! If anyone tries to help her, I will punish them too!"

Indirectly, Darren was warning Lucy. Understanding the implication, she had no choice but to go upstairs and get the whip.

A dead silence ensued as she went to fetch the whip.

"Lucy!" Darren shouted impatiently. As soon as he saw Lucy coming downstairs in a hurry, he scolded her, "It took you too long. Lucy, I think it's time for you to retire and go back to your hometown."

"But-"

Darren raised his hand, stopping her from talking. Lucy didn't dare to say a word. She gave the whip to Darren and stepped back silently.

As Jessie's eyes fell on the long whip, she was clutched with fear.

She had seen this whip before. It had belonged to her grandfather. After he passed away, it was passed on to Darren. She had a vivid memory of her grandfather showing her this whip. He had told her this was used by him to punish bad people in the broad grassland. When she heard of it, she looked at the whip with pride. To her, it represented heroes.

But now, Darren was going to use it to whip her!

Darren raised the whip, and lashed her with it.

Excruciating pain shot through her body. She felt like her skin had been split into two.

"Darren, beat her harder. She is too stubborn. If you don't teach her a good lesson, she will make it a point to ruin the Lin family."

Ivy sat on the sofa, gloating over Jessie's wound. She wouldn't mind if Darren decided to shoot her.

In fact, It would be best if Jessie's mother and brother died with her!

Clutching her body, Jessie tried to dodge her father's beatings. Even though her body was bleeding, she gritted her teeth and didn't utter a word. Lucy looked at Jessie with sympathy. Even though the young lady had made a mistake, it was wrong to treat her so cruelly.

"Mr. Darren, please stop...... Miss Jessie, please apologize to Mr. Darren," Lucy pleaded, seeing how terrible Jessie looked.

"Apologize? Lucy, she should be punished. Don't plead for her. An apology won't make things right."

Paying no heed to Ivy's words, Lucy continued to plead for Jessie, "Mr. Darren, if you keep on whipping her, Miss Jessie will die."

Darren had a fit of anger listening to Lucy. She had now moved forward and was trying to hold his hand. Not thinking about the consequence, he flung Lucy to the ground. And the whip fell on Lucy as well. A long crack appeared on her clothes.

"Mother.." When Lee saw Darren had hurt his mother, he felt sorry for her and immediately knelt on the ground to hold her.

They could turn a blind eye to Darren's partiality. But what he was doing to Jessie was unacceptable. It was wrong to whip someone like that.

Lee was angry at Darren, but he had to bite his tongue. After all, the Lin family had shown kindness by taking his family in.

"Darren, you devil! If you hit me, I won't hit you back. But Lucy? How dare you hit Lucy! Do you really think you can do whatever you want? Darren, you'd better beat me to death today, because if I survive, I won't spare you!" Jessie spat out angrily.

Darren had originally planned on letting Jessie go since he had accidentally hurt Lucy. But listening to the stubborn way in which she spoke, Darren realized she wasn't sorry at all.

How dare she threaten him!
