Chapter 5 Mo Sheng, the Demon Lord

"Your name?" his cool but deep voice break her trance that made her body shiver in response.

"Ran Ai Ning, " she replied.

The demon lord raised a brow at her and then stared from her face down her body. Was he checking her out? Did he really rape those virgin maidens before her?

Her body stiffened at the thought. She would rather take her own life than to be tainted by this demon.

"Where did you get those bruises?" he asked again, "and why are you poisoned?"

Ai Ning blinked. The first one was easy to answer as it was obvious that those violent villagers had beaten her just to find out where the missing sacred mirror from the shrine was. But the second question, she had no idea what he was talking about?

"Ying Shu, why did they sent me an impure woman? Do they think they could eliminate me from this land by sending a poisoned woman?" The Lord asked his vassal who looked uncomfortable in his seat.

"Milord, I didn't know she was poisoned" Ying Shu replied. He cursed the mortals inwardly for bringing another problem on his hands.

She was poisoned?

"I am what?" Ai Ning asked with confusion written all over her face.

"You did not know?"

"No."

"I see. It seems that the poison has been in your body for a long time now. Probably for years. Your meridians are blocked and I can smell the poison from your skin."

Ai Ning felt like her whole body was struck by a lightning. All these years she thought she couldn't cultivate because she had a weak body and yet this demon could easily tell that she was poisoned.

Who could have had done such a cruel thing?

Meng Ren. Her twin sister.

"Meng Ren, " Ai Ning gritted her teeth and clenched her fist so hard.

She could remember when she was seven years of age, Meng Ren had started volunteering to take their lunch from the kitchen whenever they were stuck on a lesson in their study chambers.

Meng Ren had been sabotaging her for years. She was her own blood. Why did she do this to her own twin?

Tears started to fill her eyes as she bit her lower lip in frustration. Why was her life to unfair? Did she do something so bad in her past life that she was now being punished in this lifetime?

"How old are you now?" the demon asked.

Ai Ning wiped away her tears with the back of her hand before answering.

"I just turned eighteen last week." she confessed.

"Eighteen, huh?" the demon mumbled to himself.

The demon lord turned his head outside as if he is in deep thought once again. Ai Ning wondered what did this demon have done to the other virgin sacrifices.

"Do you rape those women before consuming them?" Her curiosity has betrayed her as she asked loudly what's on her mind. She quickly covered her mouth with both of her hands.

Clearly surprised by her bold question, the demon lord looked at her as if she was crazy. He then laughed in response.

"No. I never sleep with mortal women. I only take their life essence."

Ai Ning who was clearly embarrassed could only nod at him.

"Is there something else you want to know?" the demon asked Ai Ning with a smirked on his face, his eyes flashed with amusement.

Her face flushed deep red, she was so ashamed for what she asked but nevertheless decided to ask more about the demon. She was going to die anyway what else could go wrong about her life now. Her life was in his hands.

"What's your name?"

"Mo Sheng, "

"What kind of demon are you?"

Ai Ning couldn't tell what type of demon he was. He looks very human aside from the different color of his hair and eyes and his pointed ears. His claws were sharp if her guess was right.

"That is for you to find out. Do you want to make a contract with me?" he asked.

Ai Ning stared eye to eye to the demon lord. Trying to see if he was planning something against her.

"What do you mean?" she said without breaking her gaze to the demon's golden eyes. Her voice very serious.

"Restart your life. I'm giving you a chance to reborn yourself as a demon in exchange you will have to bear two curses and follow my lead."
