Chapter 1 My Stepsister

Chapter 1

When I opened the door, I saw my husband having sex with my stepsister. What the heck? My whole body trembled. I wanted to charge at them and curse them both, but I couldn't-because I was pregnant.

"Ohhh, sis, here you are," Jaine, my stepsister, said with a smile.

"What is the meaning of this?" I asked my husband, tears welling in my eyes.

"Wait, let me explain-"

He reached out to hold my hand, but I pulled away.

"Don't bother explaining, Xander. Hey, sis, don't you know? This isn't even the first time we've done this," Jaine sneered.

I shook with rage, unable to hold back anymore-I slapped her across the face.

"What the heck, b*tch?!" she screamed, about to lunge at me, but Xander held her back.

I looked at him, my eyes filled with pain.

"Why? Why?" I choked out.

"Because I don't love you, okay?" he said coldly. "I only stayed with you because of that child that isn't even mine. And, of course, because of your wealth and company. But now that everything is settled, I'll file for divorce."

"What do you mean?" I whispered.

"Don't you get it?" Jaine smirked. "You're so stupid-so confident in your life and your man. But did you really think he was the one you were with that night?"

My world shattered in an instant. All this time, I was the only one who didn't know. They had made a fool out of me. I loved him, yet... he wasn't even the man I spent that night with?

I dropped to my knees, gripping my face in despair. Who? Who was the man that night? Who is the father of my unborn child? A storm of questions raged in my mind.

"Oh, and you know what?" Jaine leaned in and whispered, "I was the one who put the aphrodisiac in your drink that night-to make sure you ended up in the wrong room. And from what I heard, the owner of that room was Mr. Lopez. Rumor has it, he's fat, ugly, and has millions of mistresses. Hahaha."

What? My eyes burned with fury as I glared at her. Mr. Lopez? No one had ever seen his face, but they said he was a millionaire and a powerful business tycoon. Yet, according to Jaine, that was just a rumor...

"Oh, by the way, sis, here-for you."

Jaine handed me an envelope. I opened it and read the documents inside. What? A company transfer agreement... and divorce papers?!

I stood up abruptly.

"Huh. Even if I die, I will never sign this."

"Sign it... or else," Xander demanded.

"Or else what?" I challenged.

He turned on a flat-screen TV, and my heart stopped at the sight. No! It was my brother-tied up, unconscious.

"What did you do to him?!" I screamed.

"Sign it, or I'll kill him."

Jaine shoved a pen into my hand. I had no choice. With shaking fingers, I signed the papers.

"Now let him go, please," I begged.

Xander smirked. "It's too late, darling."

BANG!

A gunshot echoed in the room. My blood ran cold as I turned to see my brother collapse to the ground, lifeless.

"No..." My voice broke. My whole body trembled as tears streamed down my face.

"And now, it's your turn," Jaine sneered, "along with your bastard unborn child."

She kicked me hard in the stomach. Agony ripped through me as I clutched my belly, feeling the warm, wet sensation of blood seeping through my clothes.

"Please... save my child," I gasped.

Jaine grabbed my hair and yanked my head back.

"Oh, and by the way, thanks to your soft-hearted nature, my mother and I had no trouble getting rid of yours."

What? They... killed my mother?

I trusted them. I loved them. Yet, the man I devoted my life to and the sister I cherished had betrayed me. They cheated on me, killed my mother and brother... This is all my fault.

Sobs wracked my body as I collapsed in despair.

Gasoline soaked the floor around me.

"Goodbye and farewell."

They smirked as they dropped a lighter. Flames erupted, quickly consuming the room.

Weak. I was too weak. Blood loss was draining my strength. I struggled to crawl, but the fire grew hotter, surrounding me.

Then... through the smoke, I saw a blurred figure. Someone was there-watching me with concern.

A scar ran across his arm, exposed where his torn tuxedo sleeve had ripped.

My vision blurred further. I couldn't hold on any longer.

Jaine, Xander... if we meet in the next life, I will make you pay.

And for this man-if there is a next life, I will find you and thank you in person.

My baby... I'm sorry. I couldn't give you the life you deserved.

Goodbye, my love... Mom, Brother, I'm sorry...

A final tear slipped down my cheek as darkness swallowed me whole.

I opened my eyes and saw something familiar. Is this my room? Didn't I already die?

"Thank God, you're okay!"

"Mom? You're alive?"

She looked at me with concern, then turned to the side where my brother was standing.

"Mom, Liam, you're both alive?"

"What are you talking about, Ash?" my brother asked.

Without hesitation, I hugged them both tightly.

"What's wrong?" Mom asked, worried.

I glanced at the calendar near my bedside table. My heart pounded as I realized-I had gone back five years in time. I'm only 17 years old again...

"Ouch..."

A sudden pain shot through my head.

"Are you okay, sis?"

I saw the worry in my mom and brother's eyes. Then, flashes of my past life flooded my mind.

Is this really happening? Mother, brother... in this life, I will protect you. God is on my side-He sent me back to a time when you were both still alive.

A smile formed on my lips as I thought about my revenge.

My name is Ashley Wilson, the daughter of one of the richest men. But my father disappointed me. After my mother died, he brought home his mistress and his illegitimate daughter.

I had my own company under my name-a gift from my grandfather before he passed away. Under my mother's guidance, I grew the business in my previous life, only for them to steal it from me.

"Mom, what time is it?"

"It's already 8 AM," she replied.

"I want to go to school, Mom."

"You should rest first, sweetheart."

"No, Mom. I can do it. Trust me." I smiled at her reassuringly.

"I'll come with you, sis," Liam offered.

"No. Stay here and take care of Mom. I just need to get something."

I left the house and got into the car.

When I arrived at school and walked through the gates, all eyes were on me. Well, that's nothing new. They never liked me, and I never had many friends. I had one best friend since childhood, but she died of depression in my previous life. It was one of my biggest regrets-I wasn't there for her when she needed me the most. Instead, I pushed her away because my stepsister told me to.

I was desperate for a sister, so I accepted and treated her as one. Little did I know, she wasn't just my stepsister-she was my half-sister, my father's illegitimate child.

This time, I won't let anyone step on me. In this life, no one can harm me.

I entered the classroom. As soon as I opened the door, I quickly stepped aside-just in time to avoid a bucket of paint falling from above.

In my past life, I was always their victim. But not this time.

The students stared at me in shock, but I ignored them and walked straight to my seat.

Someone suddenly kicked my desk.

I looked up and glared at her. It was Lesley, my classmate, along with her two minions, Amber and Lalaine. They were the school bullies, and I was always their favorite target.

Before, I let them torment me. But not anymore.

"What are you looking at, huh?" Lesley sneered, raising her hand to slap me.

Before she could, I grabbed her wrist and kicked her in the stomach. She collapsed onto the floor.

"Don't just stand there! Go after her and beat her!" she shouted at her minions.

They lunged at me, but I easily took them down.

My uncle, my mother's brother, was in the military. He taught me self-defense.

In my past life, after my mother died, he returned home for the funeral. But after that, he disappeared. The last thing he said to me was that he would find out who killed my mother.

After that, I never heard from him again.
