Inside a suite at the Horizon Hotel.
The room looked spotless, and the glass windows shone under the light. From outside, anyone could easily see what was happening inside.
"Nathan, stop... please. I'm begging you. I'm getting married soon!" Rosalyn Carter struggled as the man held her head firmly. Her breathing grew uneven, as if the air around her had suddenly grown thin.
The floor-to-ceiling window reflected her alluring yet disheveled appearance.
The zipper at the back of her dress had been pulled all the way down, leaving the fabric hanging open. The low bun she had carefully arranged earlier had fallen loose, and parts of her makeup had smudged across her face.
Nathan Harvey watched her with a dark expression. His presence alone felt oppressive. "Why are you begging me?" he asked coldly.
His hand slipped beneath the lace of her dress, and a soft sound escaped Rosalyn's lips before she could stop it.
She lowered her voice quickly. "Shut the curtains..." Color rose across her cheeks as she spoke, making her look both embarrassed and pitiful.
Nathan shifted and sat along the window ledge with his back facing the glass. His arms wrapped around her and drew her closer.
A trace of mockery crept into his voice. "Worried someone might catch you cheating with me?"
As he said it, his tone gradually turned colder. The phrase "cheating" landed like an insult.
Rosalyn glanced past his shoulder and noticed movement in the room across the way. Fear of being seen made her shrink instinctively, pressing herself against his chest to hide.
"So eager?" Nathan said with a mocking edge that cut straight through her.
Watching how carefully she tried to avoid being noticed only made the anger inside him grow stronger.
"How could you treat me like this?" A faint tremor entered Rosalyn's voice as she lowered her head. Her neck bent slightly and revealed the smooth curve of her neck.
Nathan's eyes shifted away from her.
On the gray desk nearby rested the documents Rosalyn had brought with her.
Those papers had been meant for business. Rosalyn came here to deliver cooperation files for her fiancé. Yet somehow, everything had ended up this way, and now she found herself in Nathan's embrace instead.
Nathan reached out and caught her chin between his fingers, forcing her to face him. "Rosalyn, do you want me to remind you what you did for living eight years ago?"
Color draining from her face, Rosalyn stared at him, shaking.
Eight years earlier, her life had been tangled up in a mess. She needed money to save her seriously ill mother; to foot the hospital bills, she had no choice but to sell herself for money, since cash would come faster that way.
Nathan had been the first man who'd paid for her company. After that, he kept her by his side for three years.
Their relationship remained unchanged until the day she became pregnant, and he got engaged to a fair lady from a wealthy family. After handing her a sum of money, he disappeared from her world altogether.
For four months, Rosalyn waited for him to show up in her life again. However, a sudden car crash took the life growing inside her womb, and she barely survived the incident.
In her mind, those memories had already faded into the past. But five years later, Nathan suddenly walked back into her life. Now, he stood at the top of the business world. With a single sentence, he could ruin her fiancé's company or bring it back to life.
He said, "The contract is still sitting there. Once I sign it, your fiancé will receive a fifty-million investment. No one understands better than you how to please me."
His patience snapped. He caught her hand and drew it down to his waist. His voice fell into a lower tone as he spoke. "Take it off."
Five years had passed since the last time they saw each other.
The moment their skin touched again, it felt as if the years between them had vanished.
Time slipped away while they remained tangled together.
By the time they finally separated, darkness had already settled outside.
Rosalyn lay there, completely drained. Red marks covered her body.
"Your fiancé called earlier." His eyes moved across her before he added, "I declined the call for you."
"You!" The shock pulled Rosalyn back to her senses. She grabbed the nearest piece of clothing and pulled it around herself before scrambling across the carpet for her phone.
The screen lit up with several missed calls. Every single one came from Andrew Murray, her fiancé.
Her fingers trembled as she clicked into his messages.
"Did you deliver the document?"
"Why aren't you answering?"
"Honey, I'm worried. Did something happen?"
"I found the hotel Nathan is staying at. I'm downstairs now. Are you in there?"
"He's here." The final message made her heart slam against her chest.
At that exact moment, the room phone began ringing.
Before she could reach it, Nathan picked it up. He listened for a moment. Then, his voice turned cold. "Send him up."
Rosalyn's composure shattered. "Nathan, what are you trying to do? Are you seriously going to let him see this? Yes, I was with you five years ago. I even asked for a huge breakup fee when we ended things. But you owe me a life. I'm about to get married now. Why are you determined to ruin everything for me?"
Her hand slowly moved to her abdomen. Even now, she could still remember the pain from losing that baby.
