I tried to play it cool and casual as I walked, people of all kinds and sizes passing by me. Though I've been a student in this school for many years, I still manage to be invisible to almost everyone. So, it's not that big of a deal anyway.
As a senior, you might guess that I've probably accomplished something so far in my life. But to be honest, I only accomplished being a nobody .
So far, it's been great! Positivity, right?
Well, speaking of 'positive', my swag had to be ruined just in time to make a turn. You'd be surprised that I'm not really surprised! It's been like a routine, actually. But the thing is, this time it was not a door, a wall or a huge person.
It was actually a soccer ball.
I felt the round object smack my face harshly, causing me to stumble backwards and lose my balance. It all happened so fast, I didn't even have the time to process it before I found myself falling down to the ground like a corpse.
Here I come, grandma!
And there I was, glued to the ground as I watched my whole life flash before my eyes like a tape on play.
This is the end . I told myself. After years of trying to avoid embarrassments, I still managed to find my way to its center ...
And with that, my eyes started closing as darkness took over.
INTRO
Hi, my name is Madison.
The girl lying on the floor waiting for her doom to come and rescue her from embarrassment-that's me. And as you can see, I always ended up on the floor or on someone. Not the sexual way...
You'd say I'm actually used to it by now. Every time I tried to act casual, I somehow ended up in the same situation. Which was actually hard to handle whilst being a grown-ass 17-year-old cursed teenage girl.
Some are athletes, some are artistic, some are bloggers, some are intelligent, some have talents and some are even getting pregnant! You asked for it, Britney!
But me? Oh- no no! I had to be a weird-ass, food-addict, love-virgin, kluts-who gets a random bruise occasionally without having a clue how. And the list goes on...
To be honest, I can rant all day about how unfortunate my life is. But we don't need that kind of negativity, right?! Especially when I'm acting like a doormat...
All of a sudden, I felt large hands grip my arms before pulling me upwards. Next thing I know, I was back on my feet.
God, is that you? Can you at least let me burn my diary and eat the leftover pizza before you take me?!
I peeked my eyes a bit open and looked straight, only to see something even better. Some dudes' muscled chests.
My candy corn-sized breasts could never!
In front of me stands an extremely hot guy with perfect beige skin tone and matching chocolate brown hair and eyes. He had thick arched eyebrows, almond-shaped eyes, a delicate cute nose and adorable dimples resting on both of his cheeks that surrounded his tasty pink lips. He was so attractive that I doubt his features were probably carved by angels.
Those lips were born to be kissed.
And all of a sudden I forgot how to breathe.
Meet the Greek god of the school. Liam.
Liam is everything a girl could dream of. From his breathtaking features to his perfect personality. He is the definition of a true gentleman and sexy.
But unlike any high school heartthrob, he was absolutely not into sports. And he was actually quite a nerd too. But since he's popular-both on social media and in real life-people see him twice as hot.
Can you believe that?!
Liam is not your average artistic guy. Yup, you heard me! He's a painter, and he has great taste in music. He plays many instruments, like guitar, piano, drums and even the saxophone!
Though he's not the only one that can use an instrument! I play the triangle like a professional! Too bad I kept my talents to myself, I would've been worldwide famous.
Cough. Cough.
Liam and I have been partners in biology for more than 3 years now. Which is probably the only reason he'd know about my existence. Talk about luck!
And since he is the only boy I talk to, serious issues have developed between us. And one of those issues happened to be a crush. Those issues are one-sided, duh!
Yes, I might have been a love-virgin, but how could I not?! I mean look at him! He's a walking donut.
Beautiful from the outside and delicious from the inside.
Okay, I might be a sucker for donuts, but you get what I mean...
"I'm truly sorry for the hit. I was actually aiming for the trash can," he stuttered embarrassingly as I daydreamed about our wedding.
His voice sent butterflies fluttering around in my stomach just like a one-direction song, making me probably look as if I was going to faint.
Wait a minute, did he just call me a trash can?!
Somehow he noticed the way, how I choked on my own breath, causing him to start panicking, "Maddie? Are you alright?!"
"Shit! I broke the girl," he rambled to himself with guilt.
Oh darling, you have no idea how broke you have made me...
He started rocking me, causing me to drift away even more and imagine him doing something else instead. But when I realized that it was not a dream and that he could literally see me grinning like a joker, I shook my head and zoned back to reality.
At that, he sighed in relief. "You scared the shit out of me!"
I couldn't help but try to hide my smile. I know that I have a crush on him and everything, but I'm not planing on confessing or anything! The last thing I want to do is humiliate myself-as if I haven't already. He was way out of my league.
Plus, there are a lot of girls crushing on him. There's no way in hell he'd choose me. I'm fine just being good friends with him.
"You're lucky you didn't hit my nose, or else I would've hit yours," I threatened while holding my fist up, returning to my old self and causing him to laugh.
"C'mon, mad dog! You know I didn't mean to hurt you." he grinned embarrassingly. "I just suck at soccer..."
'Mad Dog' was a nickname he always called me by. And even though it annoyed me, I found it perfect.
Before I could open my mouth to respond with some comeback like I usually did, a girl stepped between us, making us drift apart.
"Liam, you're finally here!" the ginger head squeaked before wrapping her arms around his neck for a hug. I couldn't help but glare a hole through her head.
Yes, I'm that pathetic.
He returned her hug awkwardly while looking at me. I couldn't help but gag internally. And when she backed away, she stepped in front of me completely, feeding me her hair in the process.
As if my hair isn't enough for me!
I stepped backwards and rolled my eyes frustratingly enough to dare and tap on her shoulder. "Excuse me, Jen, but we were kinda in the middle of a conversation."
Just like a creepy horror movie doll, the ginger head snapped her head backwards so quickly that I swear I heard it crack. And with that, she hissed, "Were."
And now meet Jen.
The queen bee of the school.
And of course our school had one. But unlike the others, Jen was a lone ranger. No minions or followers. Because apparently, no one was good enough to hang out with her.
Well, I have a perfect pair for her. My butt cheeks.
Let me tell you this, she was the most annoying brat you could ever meet! She literally thinks she owns everyone because her rich parents own this school. And because of her pretty features, long ginger hair and green eyes, she thinks she could fool any guy into falling for her.
Which is completely wrong!!
But I'm not gonna lie, she is pretty, but she has an ugly personality! Just like hot coffee!
She might fool you with her tasty smell, but she'll burn your tongue.
"We're not done here," I spat out, only this time, more louder.
She took a long scary breath before turning around to completely face me. "Listen there, nobody. I don't want to be rude, but don't you think that it's time for you to stay invisible? I mean, flirting with Liam won't make him ask you to prom."
My eyes and mouth widened. Is she talking to me?! Because if she is, I would just punch her jaw into two pieces!
I mean, like, I know prom is in a month from now, and I'd literally pay millions and die to go with Liam to prom, but still! It's whatever...
And yet again, before I could snap her jaw, Liam beat me to it. "Jen, Jen. F off!" he exclaimed, shaking his head and giving her an eye roll-not in any mood to argue with her.
She looked with shock at Liam, as if he had just stabbed her in the heart or slapped her with a boot. "Are you serious right now?!" she let out a laugh in mockery.
"This nobody is my friend. So why don't you go mess with someone as pathetic as you? Maybe a mirror," he implied calmly, which made us both shocked.
Oh, damn! If glares could kill, Liam would be long gone by now...
Not wanting to argue whatsoever, she gave me a nasty look before she looked back at Liam. "Have fun with your bitch," she spit out before storming off, purposefully hitting Liam by the shoulder as she passed.
Did she just call me a bitch?!
As soon as she left, he let out a breath. "I could've handled her myself," I told him while crossing my arms over each other.
Another thing me and Liam share in common is our hate towards Jen. She's a bitch!
He smirked. "I know you could have. But it was her that I was worried about," he jokingly replied, which I couldn't help but laugh at.
"Anyway, I should go. I'm really sorry about that hit." he mentioned again, making me shake my head.
"Don't worry about it! Thanks to you, I'm seeing doubles." I joked but cringed when I heard it. Ugh, I'm so awkward...
He chuckled before he bent down to pick up the ball. "It was nice catching up with you."
"Nice catching up with your balls," I responded before widening my eyes after realizing what I had just said. "I mean ball - I mean soccer ball - dammit! You know what I mean!" I said in exasperation.
"Sure..." he furrowed his eyebrows with a weird expression before leaving with a laugh. "See you in biology."
Nice catching up with your balls?! Is something wrong with you?!
I shook my head at myself, forcing my legs to start walking. God, can I be more awkward?
A few seconds later, I reached my locker. I exchanged some books for my first 3 periods and stuffed all my necessary books in my bag before slamming the door shut. And that was when a face popped up all of a sudden, startling me.
Meet the last but not least, Zoey.
My partner in crime.
Zoey and I have been together for forever. Both of us shared the same minds, so weirdly enough, we could be twins.
We were so close to each other that I would actually exchange my big brother to have her as my sibling instead. She had stood by my side and had supported me for as long as I could remember. She was my hero.
"Hi-What happened to your face?!" she exclaimed when she saw it, making me let out a sarcastic laugh.
"Oh, that? It's nothing! Just a soccer ball, ya know..." I waved her off as she gave me a look before shaking her head.
"Sooooo, any luck?" she smiled weirdly, holding two thumbs up.
I shook my head with a frown.
"Not even a glimpse."
I knew that I didn't need a date and that I could go alone, but senior prom was a big thing at this school. And knowing that everyone had a date except me, made me feel inferior and depressive. Slightly...
"You know, I'm thinking that maybe I shouldn't go," I confessed, because this 'date' thing was really messing with my head!
"Hell, no! You're coming whether you have a date or not. We're going to have fun because it's our last prom Maddie!" she cheered, tugging me by my shoulder as a small smile began widening on my face.
"And plus, I don't have a date either. So we can go together!"
"Oh please! Boys are literally lining up to ask you." she rolled her eyes at that.
Zoey had long brown curly hair that matched her upturned hazel eyes perfectly. She had tan skin and a body like a Victoria's Secret Model. She's also smart and kind. And those were the two traits that you rarely find in a girl.
She was a 10!
I on the other hand, had black hair with a pair of dark eyes. And I saw myself only as normal.
I'm a 2.
Before she could say anything else, the bell rang in the school hall, indicating that classes were about to start.
"We'll figure things out at lunch," she told me as I nodded before both of us walked off in different directions.
