On our seventh wedding anniversary, Alan Begum and I had a heated argument because of my decision to choose not to have children, and it ended on a sour note.
Later, I saw a post on social media from his childhood friend, Danna Ahmed. "From the moment you entered the racing circuit to now being famous, I've always been by your side, and only I have been by your side."
She also posted a photo of her with Alan and other teammates.
The teammates had teasing expressions as they looked at them, while Alan and Danna exchanged smiles, appearing like a couple.
Yet in these seven years, he never allowed me to visit his racing events or meet his teammates.
Whenever I asked, he would gently and patiently reassure me. "There are high-speed races on the track. It's too dangerous. You're my dearest, and I'd be heartbroken if you got hurt."
But when I pressed further, his gentle demeanor often turned into impatience.
We had been married for seven years, and it turned out that the most important person in his heart had been his childhood sweetheart, Danna.
Without any drama, I calmly took off my ring, composed a message, and sent it to him. "Alan, let's get a divorce."
Then I slipped on the black gloves that had been preserved in the glass cabinet for many years.
Since when did high-speed racing become dangerous?

I called Austin Ford and informed him of my decision to return to the team.
Austin's voice was full of excitement. "When you were forced to leave, and all information about you was sealed, there was no news for seven years. I thought you wouldn't come back."
I chuckled softly, "I couldn't bear to leave you guys, so I had to return."
Austin feigned annoyance and teased me a bit. "But the paperwork for your return will take at least a month. Enjoy your last month of leisure because when you come back, I'll make sure you work hard."
Despite being the boss of HC Racing Club, Austin never acted like one.
Unexpectedly, shortly after I sent the message to Alan, he came rushing back.
As soon as he entered, he started yelling at me. "Mia, what exactly are you fussing about? It's just a social media post, and you're being so petty? Danna had no parents since she was a child. We grew up together, so I have to protect her."
I retorted, "Is she your childhood friend or sweetheart?"
Alan seemed embarrassed and infuriated as if I had hit the nail on the head. "Mia, can you stop seeing things with bias? And I've agreed to your choice not to have children for seven years. It's time for us to have a child. Do you want to prevent our family from continuing?"
I couldn't even spare him a glance.
Seeing this, Alan softened his tone. "Mia, you know how much I love you. I just want to have a child with you. Danna is spoiled by me. I'll talk to her properly. Please don't be upset, okay?"
In the past, I might have softened, but after so many times, I wouldn't be soft-hearted anymore.
I pulled my hand from his grasp and said calmly, "Our love has long been worn out by you. As for the child, I'm not giving you one. Someone is willing to give birth to you."
Alan didn't expect me to be so firm, so he dropped the pretense completely. "Mia, stop being unreasonable!"
"Alan, do you even remember what day it is today?"
He was stunned for a moment, and suddenly, his phone rang. "Alan, my stomach hurts so much. Am I dying... Can you come to see me?"
The sweet and familiar voice was none other than Danna.
Alan frowned, his tone urgent. "Don't say silly things, Danna. Don't worry, I'll be right there."
After hanging up, Alan reprimanded me, "You better think about your actions."
The sound of the door slamming echoed, and I got up to pour myself a glass of red wine.
Danna was a big part of the reason why Alan and I ended up in such a bad situation today.
It was hard for Alan to pretend for seven years, and his true colors were finally revealed.
It was a relief that we didn't have children together. I treated this as a good thing.
I opened my phone and saw Danna's latest social media post.
