From time immemorial ethnic prejudices have always taken different dimensions in the human society .When they take political dimensions, they become very much pronounced both locally and internationally. When they appear in social forms, they may be quite and yet dangerous. They are dangerous when they take a negative form.
Pa Oni had been known in Egbeda society for his ethnic prejudice, though he was hardworking, generous, loving and open-minded. He was polygamous and blessed with many sons and daughters. He had always considered himself as one of the luckiest sons of God. He sent every one of his children to school and they all did well. In fact Pa Oni's family was the envy of all and sundry in Egbeda society. But "the key spoils the teeth of the dog" so goes the saying.
Pa Oni's tenacious hold onto his own tribal group was a guiding principle in his household. He once called his wives and children together and openly told them. You all should know that when anyone of or husband in our society here . Intrestingly, everybody was expressing gratitude to God at the same time
The incident could not but have certain on Pa Oni's family. Because of all what Pa Oni had emotionally expressed during the incident, some of his house to be dominated by a woman : Others saw him as a polygamist who loved one of his wives more than the others. Whatever his neigbours might have said or felt , Pa Oni knew how to rule his house. Afterall, every man holds the key to the sucessful management of his family affairs. What Pa Oni's neighbours failed to perceive was that 'Behind every sucessful man there must be a woman.'
Pa Oni's sucess was locked in the carbinet whose custodian was Madam Asa.
No wonder, Pa Oni almost lost his sanity when nobody could tell wether Madam Asa was alive or dead.
