"Elsa, 2 Americano for table 3 and 1 Hazelnut Latte for table 2." Kevin said and I gave him a nod before putting it into the system.
I love working at a cafe especially in Beverly Hills. I work a couple of part time jobs to help pay for my college and being a barista is my favorite. I worked at freelance logo designer too.
"Elsa, 1 Matcha Latte and 1 Mango Frap for table 4." Kevin said as he grabbed a bottle of water from the cabinet.
"Roger that." My shift will finish soon and after this I need to get a birthday cake because it's Jennifer's birthday. After that I have 2 classes for today and then I have to go home.
Sometimes I wish I have a fairy godmother who can give me one wish. I just wish something that can change my life because living like this is pretty tiring.
I'm alone living in LA when my family is living in Dallas. I lived here alone in a small apartment.
Just a year left, Elsa. After that you will get a good job and make good money. You can do this, Elsa!
"Elsa, 1 Cheesecake and a Caramel Latte, please." Kevin said and orders kept coming in. Even though it's tiring, it's all worth it especially when a customer compliment your coffee.
I turned to the clock after gesturing Kevin to deliver the order and my shift is done. I gestured Kevin to take over and walked to my locker. I took my bag and changed my clothes.
It's so humid today but it looked like it's going to rain. I put my black croptop on and my highwaisted jeans.
"Kev! I'm done for the day.." I said and waved to him.
"Bye, E. See you at uni later!" He waved back.
I like Kevin, he's a nice guy. He's younger than me by 2 years and he's an architect too. He just got in and he's one of the top students in his class. Not to mention that he's cute.
I walked out from the cafe and walked along the side walk. I took a really deep breath and closed my eyes for a few seconds feeling the breeze. I took my phone out from my bag to find any notification.
A couple of guys texted me but I ignored them. I'm not interested in dating now because it takes a lot of time and I'm scared that I won't be able to focus on my study.
On Valentines day, I got a lot of presents like chocolates, letters and a teddy bear. I mean I can say I'm attractive but not exactly beautiful. People said that I approachable and that's why some guys got attach to me pretty quickly.
As for my love life, I've never been in a relationship. I never got into that stage yet but I did go to a lot of dates with some men but never met a guy that I really want to date for real. Once, there's a cute guy when I just got into college, he's a year older. We both liked each other but before we got into the relationship, I caught him making out with someone else.
I just left him without say anything.
Cake, I need to buy a cake for Jennifer. I entered the cake shop when suddenly someone grabbed my hand. He slid a ring to my finger and held my hand.
"Sadie, you need to stop. I already have a fiancee. I've told you a thousand times already! This is my fiancee, so I need you to get away from me before I sue you." The man held my hand tightly and I turned to see a beautiful blonde girl. I bet ten dollars she's a model and she looked at me completely hurt.
"I just wanted to buy a cake for your mom." She said as tears falling out from her eyes.
"What for? To make her like you?" Rude and mean.
"Are you really his fiancee? You look like a whore to me." The blondie said and I looked at her disbelief. The guy put his arm around my shoulder and I glared at her hard.
"I am, look!" I showed her the ring when he put earlier without her knowing. The blonde girl gasped and I raised my eyebrows.
"Don't go near him ever again, don't try to be a homewrecker. You're so pathetic!" I hissed glaring at her and he slipped his arm around my waist. She glared at him and she raised her arm resdy to slap me. I closed my eyes but the guy stopped her.
"Don't even think about laying your hands on her, you will regret it." He said in a cold tone.
"Argh!" She hissed and stomped her feet like a child. She walked out from the shop and I turned to see her leave. I sighed and I pushed the guy away. I turned to him and my eyes widen.
It's Jayson Moretti.
"Jayson?" I looked at him disbelief.
Jayson Moretti is my senior in highschool. He's known as the badboy of the school. Girls loved him because of his coldness. Now, he's standing right in front of me with a black Armani suit. Not to mention that he's so much muscular than before.
"Give me back the ring." He said coldly. Not a thank you? I just helped him and he's acting like an asshole already? I looked at him coldly and scoffed. I pulled the ring but it's stuck.
I looked down to my ring finger and tried to pull it again but it's stuck. I pulled it hard until my finger turned red.
"It's stuck." I said and he looked at the ring.
"What?"
"It's stuck, Jayson." I looked at him annoyed. He grabbed my hand and tried to pull the ring but it's stuck. I could see my finger turning blue when he pulled as hard as he can.
"How can it be-"
"You're the one who put it on me and drag me to your own life drama. Don't even think about blaming me!" I said looking at him ready to murder the man.
"I- but-" He was confused.
"Give me your address, I'll put this thing out and send it." I said as I tried to pull the ring again. He gave me his business card. I grabbed it and tried to pull the ring again.
"Call me again later for the address." He said and with that he walked out. I let out a long sigh as I watched him leave. He's going to be trouble, I can feel it.
"Happy birthday Jenny. Happy birthday Jenny!" I sang to my bestfriend in her apartment.
"Thankyou bestie!" She squealed and she blew the candles. She then gave me a hug after I put her cake on the table.
"Let's cut the cake.." I said as I walked to the kitchen to grab a knife. After grabbing the knife, I walked back and she grabbed my hand. She raised it and she raised her eyebrows.
"What's this? That ring looks like an engagement ring to me." She said and I sighed.
"Just eat the cake first, shall we? I'll tell you the whole story after that." I said as I gave the knife to her. She cut the cake and she sat me down.
"Now spill, I want to know.. please tell me that you hide someone from me.." She said and I shook my head.
"I went to the cake shop to buy your cake." I said pointing at the cake, "and then when I enter the shop, a guy slipped the ring to my finger and told the woman that he's with that I'm his fiancee."
"And why.. did you bring the ring here?" She asked completely confused.
"Because it's stuck, Jen. I can't get it out." I said as I tried to pull it again. Jen even tried but she failed too.
"Do you know what this means?" She narrowed her eyes.
"What?" I looked at her confused.
"Something good will happen, I can feel it.. maybe fate has decided to come to you." She said and I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah right, I don't believe you." I said chuckling.
"Elsa, you need to take a break. You've been running your whole life. You need to experience love." She said dramatically and I chuckled.
"Not now, I don't need it now."
"What if.."
"Jen, no! Not now, I'm still so young.."
"Fine fine." Jen raised her hands and gestured me to eat the cake.
"Happy birthday, once again." I said and she rolled her eyes.
We continued to eat the cake and after this I have class so I went out and walked there. It's not that far so I'll just walk. I put my earphones on and put some music.
I looked down to see the ring and it's beautiful. I wonder who will Jayson give this to? Seeing the ring made me feel like I'm engaged when I'm totally not. Speaking about Jayson, he's more handsome now. Not to mention that he wore a black suit too.
I wonder who that woman was? Is she a model? She's beautiful and sexy. I wonder why he doesn't like her? I'm pretty sure a guy like Jayson loves to have someone like her as his girlfriend. Okay Elsa, stop thinking about Jayson.
I stopped in front of a jewelry shop and I walked in there. They greeted me politely and there's a couple of customer in there too.
"Hi uhm.. can I ask you a favor?" I asked the woman in front of me.
"Sure. What can I help you with?" She asked and I put my hand in front of her.
"It's stuck, I need to take it off." I said and she looked at me like I grew another head. She grabbed my hand and looked at my ring finger. She grabbed a gel to help but it didn't work.
"Stuck?" I turned to the guy who sat next to me. He was wearing a suit and there's a set of jewelry in front of him.
"Yes." I said and he chuckled.
"What happened?" He asked and I sighed.
"I accidentally wore it and I wanted to take it off." I said and obviously it's a lie.
"Let me try." He said and I gave him my hand. He pinched my ring finger a little. It was hurting me but it's still bearable. He tried to pull the ring but it's not working.
"Your finger hurts?" He asked.
"A little."
"There's only one way to solve this." I turned to the woman who helped me earlier and smiled.
"How?"
"Cut the ring." She said and I looked at her in horror.
"No, I can't."
"After you cut it, we ca-"
"I can't. I have my reasons." I said as I looked at the staff and the man beside me.
"Okay." She left and I looked down to the ring. I stood up and I don't have any other choice but to tell Jayson about this. I walked out but before I reached the door, the guy stopped me.
"I'm Chance, how about you?"
"Uhmmm.. secret." I said.
"Why?" He looked at me disbelief and I gave him a small smile.
"I have my reasons."
"How do I get your name then?"
"If we meet again, I'll tell you my name." I said as I walked backwards.
"I'll keep your promise. I believe that we will meet again and you have to give your number too." He said and I smiled nodding.
"Let's see." I gave him a thimbs up and continued to walk to my uni. I took my phone out and dialed Jayson's number.
"Hello." He picked up in a flat tone.
"It's me, the girl with your ring."
"What's your name?" I should put my name on my forehead next time.
"No need to know my name."
"How can I address you then? Cake girl? The girl who has my ring?"
"I don't care. I wanted to return the ring but it's still stuck. I went to the jewelry shop asking for help but they told me the only wait is to cut it up."
"Don't! It's my mom's." He bursted in shock.
"I didn't! But we don't have any other way."
"Okay, just.. make sure it stays in your finger. I'll find a way. I need your name!" He hissed.
"I don't want to give it to you."
"But you know my name."
"No!" I ended the call. I walked through the hallway of my school. I got into class and I'm so sleep. I hate having my class in the evening. It makes me want to sleep.
"Elsa!" I turned to see Kevin as I got out from my classroom.
"Hey Kev."
"You're done with class?" He asked and I nodded. Suddenly my phone rang and I gestured Kevin to wait and he nodded. I picked up without seeing the caller ID.
"Ring girl!" It's Jayson.
"What?"
"I need you to come to my house and pretend to be my fiancee." My jaw dropped for a second.
"What? No!" I said instantly. I can't believe he just said it like I would agree to it right away.
"You have to!"
"Or what?" I hissed. He always gets what he wants, isn't he?
"Or I'll.." I ended the call and turned to Kevin.
"Wait! Is that a ring on your finger? Am I missing something? You got engaged? But you don't have a boyfriend.." Kevin looked at it as he asked.
"No.. Kevin, I'm not. It's a long story. Do you have class after this?"
"Yeah, in here." He said.
"Okey then.. I'll be going first. I have to go back to the cafe."
"Okay, E. I'll see you soon." Kevin smiled and walked into his class. I walked away from my uni and waited for the bus. Suddenly there's a black car stopped right in front of me. I raised my eyebrows and the window went down.
It's Jayson.
"What the hell are you doing?" I asked annoyed.
"What do you think?" He asked as he looked at the ring. I started to hate this guy because he has zero attitude and completely acting like an asshole. I rolled my eyes and decided to walk away ditching the bus. I put my earphone on and Jayson stopped me by holding on to my wrist.
"What?!" I hissed.
"Come with me to my parents house." He said.
"No. Why should I?"
"Because you're wearing the ring and my mom will go nuts if I told her I've lost it." I laughed at him.
"That's not my problem! You're the one who dragged me into this.."
"Yes, I know but we can't cut it that easily. It's her ring." He said with a begging tone.
"No, I'm not going with you."
"Please.. that ring is my great grandmother's."
"No."
"Unbelievable!" He sighed.
"Yeah.. you should go away!"
"Do you know who I am?" I rolled my eyes and kept walking. He stopped me again but this time he stood in front of me. He showed me his phone with the picture of me inside the class.
"I owned the share to your university and do you know what that means?" He smirked and I raised my eyebrows.
"What do you say Elsa Koshly? You only have a year left, don't you think it's such a shame that-"
"Give me your parent's address-" I cut him and he smirked.
"That's more like it."
I'm currently getting ready to go to Jayson's house. I can't believe I'm agreeing to this. He texted me his address already and I put my off shoulder white dress on. I curled the end of my hair and put make up on.
Then I put my ankle strap heels, grabbing my pink bag and put my necklace on. I looked at myself in the mirror as I sprayed some perfume.
I ordered an uber to go to his place and I'm pretty nervous but not really. I've always known that Jayson Moretti is rich so I really don't expect too much. When I arrived at his house, I got out and Jayson was already waiting for right at the gate.
He has his hands inside his pocket as he looked at me from head to toe. He gestured me to follow him and I sighed. When I saw his house from a far, I can't believe it.
It's so beautiful that I can't even.. describe it with words. As an architect, this house is perfect.
"Jayson! Is she here yet?" I heard someone walking out from the house and I saw a beautiful woman in her 50s walking out from the house.
"Yes." Jayson answered. I will assume that she's his mom. She walked towards me completely excited and I smiled awkwardly.
"Hello, Elsa!"
"Hi." I said and she hugged me. She pulled away and smiled widely.
"I'm Sarah, Jayson's mom. I can't believe he never told me about you. He's a jerk!" She said and I chuckled nodding.
"Elsa Koshly, Ms.Moretti. Nice to meet you!" I said and she linked her arm with mine. She dragged me inside right away.
"You look stunning by the way, let's go inside.. I want you to meet everyone." Oh no..
"Everyone, this is Elsa, Jayson's fiancee." She announced and when I got into the house, there's 20 people inside.
"Elsa, this is Martin, my husband." Sarah introduced me to Jayson's dad. He gave me a brief hug and smiled.
"Nice to meet you, Mr.Moretti."
"Call us by names, Elsa. We're going to be family soon, you're going to be a Moretti soon!" Sarah squealed and I turned to Jayson. He gave me a nod and I will kill him later.
"Let's have dinner!" Sarah announced. Before having dinner, Sarah and Martin introduced me to some of his family and friends. I thought they will be the type of people who are arrogant and look down on people but they're all so sweet.
"I heard that you're still in uni." Sarah sat me down on the dining table.
"Yes, I'm still studying."
"That's great, can I ask what your major is?" Martin asked.
"Architect." I said.
"Awesome!" Sarah said as she gestured all the maid to serve the food. One of them put the steak in front of me and I thanked her.
"Why didn't Jayson pick you up? How did you get here?" Martin asked.
"I went here with an uber." I said and with that his parents turned to Jayson.
"Jayson, what the.. why didn't you pick her up?" Martin asked in a cold tone.
"How can you call her your fiancee?" Sarah hissed.
"It's okay. He's tired from working and I don't want to bother him. I'm used to go everywhere by myself so it's not a big deal." I said quickly and they both looked at me with an unreadable expression.
"Really?" Sarah raised her eyebrows suspiciously.
"Yes, I told him that I'll come here by myself. I just got off work too." I said.
"Is this how you treat your future wife?" Martin asked Jayson.
"You work already?" Sarah asked.
"More like a part time job, I work at a cafe." I said and they nodded.
"I thought he will bring someone who is spoiled." Martin said.
"Let's eat!" Sarah said and I turned to Jayson. He looked at me flatly and I wanted to punch him so bad for dragging me into this mess.
"How did you two meet?" She asked as I cut my steak.
"We met at her cafe, I asked her number and we start from there.." Jayson said like it's nothing.
"That's cute." Sarah said and I gave her a smile. I took a bite and stressing out.
"The ring suits her." Martin said and I turned to my ring.
"Beautiful." Sarah said and I turned to Jayson. He nodded. We started to eat dinner peacefully and some of the family member started to tell us some funny stories. I looked around and Jayson is lucky to have a really fun family.
"Want some?" I turned to Jayson who put a cup of ice cream in front of me.
"Thank you!" I said taking it from him. It's a chocolate ice cream and I turned to see that he has the strawberry flavour on his hand.
"Can I have that instead?" I asked and he raised his eyebrows.
"The strawberry one." I pointed and he took mine before giving his.
"Thank you." I squealed and I opened the lid. After dinner, we moved to the living room and started to talk more. Sarah gave me a tour around the house too and it's beautiful.
"I'm glad that he chose you, you're such a sweet girl." Sarah said before we joined others in the living room.
"I don't know why he never brought you here, maybe he's scared that we won't accept you." She added before I can say anything.
"He asked me to keep it a secret." I played along.
"That brat.." She hissed and I chuckled.
"Let's join the others." She suggested and I nodded. We started to play games and when poker comes into the picture, I can't help but to show my talent. The whole family praised me for it.
"Elsa has to go home, she's tired." Jayson announced and I turned to the clock to see it's almost 11. I was surprised that time passed really quickly.
"You're taking her home!" Martin said.
"I am, it's late." Jayson said without any emotion. I bid my goodbyes to his family and Jayson grabbed my hand dragging me out from his mansion.
"Get in the car." He whispered and I got into his car. He told his mom something and got in. He started the car and drove away.
"You're trying too hard." He hissed.
"About what?"
"They like you.."
"And?"
"They're supposed not to like you, you don't come from a.. rich family." He said and I scoffed. I can't believe this man, he threatened me and now he's protesting.
"You're trying too hard to get my family's attention. You really saw this as an opportunity, didn't you? You want my money." He stated and that's when I'm so fed up with him. I decided to stay silent because there's no point trying to correct him.
"Find a way to take that ring out, I need it."
"Don't worry, I'll make sure to find a way so we don't have to see each other again." I said coldly.
"Good, because I hate a girl like you. You crave for money." He said.
"I don't care what you think about me." I said and with that he pulled over.
"Get out." He said in a cold tone and I turned to him disbelief.
"Get out!" He bursted and I opened his door. I got out and closed the door. I walked away and took out my phone to find a bus stop. I looked around, I have zero knowledge about this neighboorhood. Jayson drove away and I wanted to kill him so bad.
I found a bus stop and walked towards it. The bus will come in 20 minutes so I decided to sit down waiting for it. I let out a sigh and I can't believe there's so much happening in one day.
After 20 minutes, the bus came and I got in. I can't believe someone like Jayson exist in this planet. How can he treat someone after helping him?
My phone rang and it's Jayson. I decided to reject his call and he kept calling. I turned off my phone because he's so annoying.
What an asshole. How can he be one when his family is so sweet? He dared blaming it all on me when he was the one who dragged me. I helped him too. I regretted it and I will try so hard to take the ring off so I won't see him again.
After successfully go back home, I turned on the phone and there's a ton of messages from Jayson. He asked me where I am and if I already made it home or not. I decided to not open it.
