Chapter 1 Sue You For Kidnapping

No matter how thick the curtains were, they couldn't block the morning sunlight. The ingenious villa allowed natural light to filter in.

The sleeping woman turned over and woke up in a daze. A strange man was sleeping in her bed. She was so startled that all her drowsiness vanished.

The man's scent lingered on her. Her whole body ached as if she was hit by a car. Judging by her hangover, she realized what might have happened and instantly sobered up.

The man next to her had fair skin like exquisite porcelain. His eyes were closed, his nose was high, and his lips were as delicate as petals.

He was pale as a ghost, but it didn't affect his handsomeness at all.

Although this man was gorgeous, it was not the time for adoration.

She had a boyfriend. How could she lie in bed with a stranger?

The thought of her fiance made Gracie Ling feel disoriented. She clearly recalled being with her fiance, Frank Lin, last night. Why was she here with this unknown man now?

'Where is Frank anyway?' she thought.

She could only vaguely remember taking a sip of the wine while being watched expectantly by Frank Lin. After that, her world started to sway as she got drunk.

She couldn't recall anything more.

Gracie Ling was still racking her brain about the events of last night while battling a splitting headache when a horrified scream startled her.

There was a young nurse at the door, pushing a trolley. She had come to take Terence Gu's temperature and do a routine check-up the way she did daily. However, he didn't expect to encounter this awkward scene when she pushed the door open today.

"Why did you take off Mr. Gu's clothes?" asked the nurse.

Gracie Ling's face turned red and she hurriedly shook her head while reaching out for her clothes. "No, no...it was not me. It was he who took off my clothes. I don't know what happened..."

"Nonsense! Mr. Gu had a car accident three years ago and was in a coma. How could you be so dissolute and shameless? I don't understand why the Gu family chose a woman like you to be Mrs. Gu!"

the nurse said, blushing with embarrassment and then ran out of the room.

The nurse's statement confused Gracie Ling further.

She didn't want to delve into it. Right now she was planning to leave this place.

In the simple and neat courtyard of the villa

"I've told you that I'm not Mrs. Gu or Grace Lin. I'm Gracie Ling. G-R-A-C-I-E L-I-N-G. You've mistaken me for someone else.

I have a fiance. Believe me, this is a mix-up.

Let me out! If you don't let me out, I will call the police and sue you for kidnapping!"

Gracie Ling struggled to get to the gate, which was blocked by a tall bodyguard who was like a human shield.

It was not the first time that she was caught trying to escape early in the morning. She had jumped into the lake in the courtyard, people thought she was going to commit suicide. The next time, she had climbed over a wall. And this time, she was caught trying to escape from a hole in a wall.

Carter Gu rubbed his forehead. He had been the butler of the Gu family for many years, but he had never met a woman who could create so much trouble.

This noisy scene was being witnessed by a man standing upstairs. There was unspeakable loneliness in his heart.

The room he was standing in was European-styled with a thick, white carpet on the floor.

The dashing, tall guy stood surveying the scuffle below from the grand French window. He exuded nobility and elegance in his simple white shirt.

He was facing the courtyard.

He couldn't hear the hustle and bustle downstairs, but from this vantage, he could tell what was happening.

It had been three years since he last saw her. He thought he would feel nothing when they met again.

But he didn't know why his heart still ached so badly now.

This woman could always cause the deadliest harm to him so effortlessly.

He wanted to ask her why, but he was afraid that he would be heartbroken by her answer.

The door opened and Alfred Lu walked in leisurely, wearing a doctor's gown with his hands in the pockets. When he saw Terence Gu's pale face, his expression changed slightly.

"Terence, do you want to die? You have just recovered. I told you that you can't open the window or you might catch a cold again. And why are you out of bed?"

Terence Gu didn't answer and looked away indifferently.

Alfred Lu quickly went to close the window and saw what was happening downstairs. He immediately understood what was happening.

Then he followed Terence Gu to the bedroom and helped him lie down like he was a puppet. His angular and delicate face was devoid of expression. There was no emotion in his beautiful black eyes.

Alfred Lu was a good friend to Terence Gu before the car accident and he was also his attending doctor after the car accident.

He knew exactly how Terence Gu had survived in the past three years.

Seeing the woman who was to blame, Alfred Lu felt sorry for his friend. After Terence Gu lay down, he sighed and said, "Terence, I didn't want to blame you. But why are you asking for trouble? Don't you know that life's too short?

Have you forgotten how she treated you three years ago? If you are unhappy with her, why do you have her sent here?"

There was still no emotion on Terence Gu's face. He closed his eyes and kept silent.

It drove Alfred Lu crazy to see him like this. He waved his fist in frustration but didn't dare to do anything to Terence Gu. After all, Terence had just recovered and he couldn't afford to hurt him.

"If you can't bear to lay a hand on her, I'll help you get rid of her right now."

As the words left his mouth, Alfred Lu felt a frosty aura emanating from Terence Gu. He turned away to avoid facing him.

"How dare you touch her!"

As his back was toward Terence Gu, Alfred Lu couldn't see his expression but he could make out he had angered his friend from his cold tone and harsh words.

Alfred Lu stopped and didn't dare to look back. Holding the doorknob, he said in a strange tone, "Mr. Gu, I won't touch her. I'll go downstairs and ask Carter to calm down, and take good care of Miss Ling."

Then he opened the door and exited, closing the door angrily on his way out. He didn't understand why Terence Gu was acting as if there was nothing wrong after the way that woman had treated him three years ago. Terence Gu didn't allow anyone to touch her, nor did he let her leave. What was he planning to do with this woman?

Chapter 2 She Doesn't Deserve Him

The woman in the mottled white dress was curled up in a corner. She was shivering but she didn't know whether it was because of the temperature or fear. Her face was deathly pale and she was biting her lips nervously.

She had an inexplicable fear of the dark and she didn't know since when this had started.

Her numerous attempts at escaping had failed. She didn't want to be Mrs. Gu. She had a fiance. Although he was not rich or handsome, he promised to love her forever.

'Where are you, Frank?

I miss you. You must be looking for me all over the world. You must be so anxious, '

she thought to herself.

Gradually, she lost consciousness. She had a dream in which she couldn't see Frank's face clearly, but she knew it was him. They had been in love for a decade. She was the one who had chased him back then, but he wouldn't allow her to tell anyone.

The young nurse, who was standing in the same room, had a ferocious expression. It appeared as though she was struggling inside.

She was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn't notice there was another person beside her until Alfred grabbed her hand.

"Sophie, that's enough. If it goes on like this, she will die."

Sophie Gu thought of the scene that greeted her when she pushed open the door to Terence's bedroom this morning. She was so upset. Why should Gracie be the woman with him?

Anyone in the world could be Mrs. Gu but not this horrid woman. She didn't deserve him.

"Well, she was supposed to die. She treated Terence badly when he was in danger and now she has sold her body for her boyfriend. Such a woman doesn't deserve Terence, who loves her deeply."

Sophie Gu continued her efforts of getting rid of this troublesome woman.

Alfred tightened his grip on her hand. In her eyes, no one deserved Terence.

"But you have to know that if she dies, Terence will not be able to survive," Alfred said softly.

Clang!

The scalpel fell to the floor.

"Sophie, why can't you just accept it? You and Terence will never be together. Even if Gracie was not in the picture, there would be another woman by his side. Terence didn't love you three years ago, nor is he now,"

he explained, trying to reason with her. "You gave up the opportunity of studying abroad for him. A top student at J City Medical University was willing to become just a nurse. You lied to your father saying that you would pass out at the sight of blood, so that you could keep Terence company in this villa and take care of him. You can't hide it from me."

Sophie sneered, "Dr. Lu, that's hypocritical coming from you. You were supposed to be a professor at J City Medical University but now you are just a private doctor of Gu family.

Alfred, even if I can't get Terence, I won't choose you."

She left after saying that. Looking at her back, Alfred's eyes darkened with sadness.

He didn't mean to piss her off. He only said that because he couldn't stand it any longer. He was looking out for Sophie, that was all. Thinking of Terence's warning to him, he knew that Terence wouldn't allow anyone to hurt Gracie even if he didn't love her anymore.

A few days later, in the exquisitely-decorated dressing room of the villa

"Mrs. Gu, you are so beautiful."

"Wow, Mrs. Gu, this dress is made for you."

Gracie stared at her reflection in the mirror miserably. Wearing a light blue dress adorned with diamonds, her long hair was curled up high and two strands caressed her cheeks, making her delicate face look more gorgeous.

The soft makeup accentuated her pretty features.

Dressed up like this, she looked tall, slim, and breathtaking.

"It's hideous. I don't want it."

Gracie took off the diamond ornament on her head. She didn't want to dress up for a stranger!

She was disgusted by the Gu family's behavior of buying love and breaking up a her and her fiance.

"Mrs. Gu, don't be silly. It's the Gu family's family dinner tonight. You must dress up well or else you will embarrass Mr. Gu."

"My vegetative husband can't see me. It doesn't make any difference to him whether I wear a maid's costume or a big international brand!" she retorted.

Any woman who woke up and found herself lying next to a stranger and asked to take responsibility for him would not be happy.

Alfred happened to be at the door and he heard what Gracie said. He pretended to cough.

Gracie's dress was custom-designed by Luther, who was personally invited by Terence. Luther was a royal designer and the diamonds alone cost thirty million dollars.

If Luther heard this, Alfred didn't know what he would have done.

Holding back his laughter, Alfred said gracefully, "Indeed, for Mr. Gu, Miss Ling is beautiful in whatever she wears. So she can choose not to wear it if she doesn't wish to."

Everyone knelt. "Mr. Lu..."

Alfred waved his hand signaling to everyone else to leave.

"Miss Ling, I understand that you are angry and unhappy, but don't make things difficult for the servants."

"I didn't make things difficult for them," she said petulantly.

"Haven't you noticed that many servants have been fired since you moved in?"

Fearing that the next victim would be himself, Alfred didn't dare to reveal more about the atrocities meted out to the servants because of her.

"What do you mean?"

"Just hurry up. The car is waiting for you downstairs."

Gracie's sole goal in life right now was fleeing this place, so she never spared a thought about the servants. Now that Alfred drew her attention to it, she realized he was right. Many servants here had been replaced, including the nurse. She had never seen her since that morning.

'Well, it's good that I won't see her anymore. It was so embarrassing, ' she thought.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom drove straight into Gu family manor.

Gracie got out of the car with the help of Alfred and got rid of him with the excuse of going to the bathroom.

Terence's villa on the west side of the city was too remote for her to escape without a car. Tonight the banquet was held in the Gu family manor. This was the best chance for her to escape.

Sitting on the toilet cover, she scratched her head trying to hatch a plan. She couldn't flee in front of the Gu family in her fancy designer dress without being caught. What should she do?

She had an idea!

It took her some time to shorten her dress and tie her chest. She turned the long, floor-length dress into a knee-length skirt and messed up her hair. Taking out the tools she prepared this morning, she removed the impeccable makeup and began to put on different makeup.

With this disguise, she would mix with the crowd.

However, when she came out of the bathroom, she felt that someone was staring at her. She hurriedly adjusted her makeup again.

She was wearing a smoky eye makeup, which was out of place. The thick color on her delicate lips made her look hideous. In addition to that, her scruffy hair made people turn away from her.

Chapter 3 Being Found

Gracie was confident that no one would recognize her as Mrs. Gu in her current disguise.

Even if she was caught, she didn't believe that Terence's grandfather would have the heart to let his great-grandson marry such an ugly woman.

'This place is like a maze, ' she thought confusedly. After walking around for a while, Gracie was suddenly out of breath as she had bound her chest very tightly.

Looking around to ensure nobody was watching her, she quickly scampered off to an inconspicuous corner in the balcony.

Thankfully, no one noticed her.

All of a sudden, a deep, hoarse, and slightly sarcastic voice rang in her ears.

"Miss Ling, is it too tight? Do you need any help?"

Gracie froze. Her heart was in her throat.

She turned around and saw a man sitting in a mahogany rocking chair.

His eyes were sparkling, his legs were crossed leisurely, and his posture was lazy. He emitted an elegant and noble aura.

The well-tailored custom-made suit made him look taller. His handsome face looked like a carved sculpture and his demeanor was as arrogant as an emperor's.

In one strong but slender hand, he held a cigar while he drummed the fingers of his other hand on the armrest of the chair. A thick smoke curled and shrouded him, lending a sinister air of mystery.

They stared at each other for several moments.

Gracie was sure that she didn't know the man.

To be honest, her husband, who was in a vegetative state, was the most handsome man she had ever seen. But the man in front of her was totally different although not inferior in looks at all. She wondered which one would be more handsome if her vegetative husband opened his eyes.

She looked so terrible that even her mother wouldn't recognize her. Then how did he recognize her?

His dangerous scent filled her nostrils, making her cower.

"Are you crazy? Do we know each other?"

"Miss Ling, or should I call you Mrs. Gu? I didn't expect you to have such a bad memory," the man remarked, stressing on the words "Mrs. Gu." He spoke with infinite charm.

It made her wonder whether they knew each other and she had forgotten.

But it didn't matter. What mattered was that her identity had been discovered.

Gracie narrowed her eyes. What if this man exposed her later? Her carefully plotted escape plan would be in vain!

Although she was nervous, she raised her head and pretended to be cool and collected. After sorting out the skirt she had just cut and fixing the belt, she turned around and smiled at the man. Thanks to her makeup, her smile made her look uglier than before. It was enough to give someone nightmares.

Just then, she heard footsteps approaching. Gracie didn't retreat but instead walked forward. Grabbing the man's collar, she held the armrest with her other hand. She leaned closer to him and threatened, "I don't care who you are and how you know me. If you dare to tell others what you know, I will kill you!"

The person who was going to come over recoiled at the sight before him.

It seemed that the person coming toward them had gone away, so Gracie loosened her grip on his collar and was about to straighten up. However, a big hand splayed on her waist, pushing her forward and she tumbled.

"What the hell do you want?"

"Miss Ling, shouldn't I be asking you this question?" he countered.

Their faces were merely inches apart. Up close, the man was even more attractive. His skin was crystal clear with no trace of pores.

No man could be so drop-dead gorgeous!

Gracie squirmed and wriggled trying to break free of his grasp but he withdrew his hand unexpectedly. She lost her balance and was about to fall on him again. Stretching out her right hand, she tried to put distance between them but she staggered and lost her balance again.

The man's body language changed from lazy to alert. His deep, black eyes glowed as if he was trying to see right through to Gracie's soul.

The intensity of his gaze sent a shiver down her spine.

That was when it dawned on her that the man in front of her was not someone to be trifled with!

"Gracie Ling, you're such a bitch. Do you like seducing men?"

The man's voice was deep, raspy, and very pleasant to hear, but what he said made Gracie want to slap him.

Were they familiar with each other? Nobody ever said that about her. Why should he?

She raised her hand to slap him but it was caught by his strong hand.

Her delicate hand hurt in his iron grip and the words of humiliation echoed in her ears. Why was this stranger berating her like this? He acted as if he had known her for a long time but she just couldn't place him.

"That's none of your business! Are we familiar with each other?"

Gracie gritted her teeth and bent her right leg to kick him.

Now even her leg was trapped by the man. She couldn't move at all.

Being so close to the man forced her to observe him carefully. His nose was sharp and his lips were thin. His profile was perfect but there was a touch of aloofness on his handsome face at the moment.

Her captor's dark eyes were bottomless. As Gracie ogled him, a casual but charming smile suddenly appeared at the corners of his mouth.

Gracie felt her whole body going stiff in his arms.

She panicked and struggled hard to free herself, but the more she fought, the tighter his hold became.

The dangerous stranger ensured that she couldn't move at all.

"Miss Ling, you are so good at seducing men. Don't you know that you are being very salacious right now?

Or, perhaps you are enticing me!"

The man slowly swept his eyes up and down her body as though he was mentally undressing her.

Gracie's face turned red with anger at once. 'Bastard! How could he still be in the mood to flirt with me?'

Suddenly, an idea popped into her mind. Suppressing her anger, she smiled at him wickedly. She lowered her head intending to bite the man's lips. She assumed that he wouldn't have the appetite to kiss such a hideous woman. How brave could he be if he really kissed her?

The moment Gracie lowered her head, she was shoved away by a strong force. She took the opportunity to escape. When she heard the man retching, she was overjoyed. She had no regrets because she had to be tough to deal with the rogue.
