Chapter 1 The helpless omega

Mara sat alone in her cramped bedroom, her body still aching from the recent outburst of violence inflicted upon her by her step werewolf family, the Wilsons. The deep wounds on her soul cut far deeper than any physical pain. She had spent years enduring their torment, her spirit worn thin by their relentless cruelty.

It had been a stormy night, years ago, when Mara's life took a tragic turn. She was just a helpless baby, left abandoned on the doorstep of the Wilson family, members of the Blue Moon pack. The thunder roared and lightning crackled in the dark sky, mirroring the turmoil that would soon consume Mara's existence.

From that moment, her destiny was irrevocably intertwined with theirs, though she was forever treated as an outcast.

[Flashback]

The door swung open with a creek, revealing Elizabeth Wilson, a woman whose hardened expression belied the flicker of sympathy in her eyes. She stared down at the bundle on the doorstep, her gaze filled with a mix of curiosity and trepidation. Beside her stood Luis, her husband, a man known for his compassionate nature.

"What is it, Elizabeth?" Luis asked, peering over her shoulder. "What do we have here?"

Elizabeth's voice was laced with bitterness as she replied, "It's another burden, Luis. Another mouth to feed. Who would abandon a child like this?"

Luis knelt down, his heart aching at the sight of the innocent baby wrapped in a tattered blanket. "We can't turn our backs on her, Elizabeth. Regardless of how she came to be here, this child deserves love and care."

Elizabeth scoffed, her anger flaring. "Love and care? We barely have enough for our own children, Luis! What good will this bring? She'll only be a reminder of our struggles."

Luis's eyes softened with compassion. "She is just a baby, Elizabeth. She didn't choose this life. We have a duty to protect her, to give her a chance at a better future."

Elizabeth sighed, her resolve waning. "Fine, we'll take her in. But don't expect me to treat her like one of our own. She'll always be a burden!"

Since then, Elizabeth and her daughters, Jasmine and Elvie, treat Mara as their servant.

Elizabeth's voice dripped with icy indifference as she addressed the newborn in her arms. "Your worthless birth parents left you here, Mara. They didn't want you. And frankly, I don't blame them."

Mara, unaware of the implications of Elizabeth's words, reached out her tiny hand, craving love and acceptance. "M-Mama," she gurgled softly.

Elizabeth's face twisted into a sneer as she recoiled, refusing to acknowledge the bond Mara sought. "I am not your mother, and I never will be. You are a stain on this family!"

Elvie and Jasmine, eager to please their mother and emulate her cruelty, chimed in. "She's right, Mara. You're nothing but a burden. Just a filthy little omega!"

Tears welled up in Mara's innocent eyes, but she had no words to defend herself. The feeling of rejection and humiliation etched itself into her very being, leaving an indelible mark on her fragile spirit.

[End of Flashback]

In the present, Mara clutched her stuffed rabbit tightly, tears streaming down her face as she relived the bitterness of those memories. The hostility she faced from her step-family, led by Elizabeth's resentment and reinforced by the disdain of her step-siblings Elvie and Jasmine, had made her life a living hell. She had become their scapegoat, a constant reminder of the strain they believed she brought upon them.

Mara's heart ached. The mistreatment she endured from her step-family had only worsened over the years. And when Luis was absent from the house, Elvie and Jasmine seized the opportunity to subject Mara to further humiliation, treating her as their personal maid and inflicting their wrath upon her.

Mara's eyes stung with tears as she longed for a family that would embrace her, a place where she could feel loved and valued. But hope flickered within her wounded heart, a spark of resilience that refused to be extinguished.

"Mom," Mara whispered softly, though the word was laced with sorrow and longing. Deep down, she still yearned for the affection she never received, even from someone as cold as Elizabeth. She clung to the idea that maybe, just maybe, one day her stepmother would soften her heart and see her as more than a burden.

The sound of a door creaking open broke the silence, and Mara's heart sank as Elizabeth entered the room. Her eyes held a mix of anger and cold detachment.

"Mara, you worthless little creature," Elizabeth spat, her voice dripping with disdain. "What have you done to anger your siblings this time? You're always causing trouble."

Mara trembled under the weight of Elizabeth's harsh words. "I-I didn't do anything, they just don't like me. I don't understand why."

Elizabeth scoffed, crossing her arms with an air of superiority. "You think you deserve their affection? You think you're worth anything? You're nothing but a burden, a stain on our family."

Tears welled up in Mara's eyes, but she fought to hold them back, refusing to show weakness. "I never asked to be a burden, mom. I didn't choose this life."

Elizabeth's face twisted into a sneer. "Oh, how convenient, playing the victim. You think your sob story will make me pity you? Well, it won't. You're lucky we even took you in, you ungrateful brat."

Mara's voice quivered with a mixture of sadness and defiance. "I don't want your pity, I just want to find my own place, to escape this life of constant torment. I won't let your hatred define me."

Elizabeth's eyes narrowed, her voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "You listen to me, girl. You will never find a place in this world. You are worthless, and no one will ever want you!"

The words cut deep into Mara's fragile heart, but a flicker of determination sparked within her. She wouldn't allow herself to believe Elizabeth's cruel lies any longer. She would find her own worth, her own purpose, no matter the challenges she faced.

Chapter 2 Meant to be

As Elizabeth stormed out of the room, leaving Mara with a heavy heart, the young woman made a silent vow to herself. She would defy the odds stacked against her, unravel the secrets of her forgotten origins, and forge her own destiny. The journey ahead would be arduous, but Mara was determined to prove that she was more than the scapegoat of a fractured family. She would rise above their cruelty and find her true place in a world that had forsaken her.

Elizabeth stormed out of Mara's attic room, her anger raging within her. She descended the creaking stairs, her steps filled with purpose, until she reached the living room where Elvie and Jasmine lounged lazily, their indifference evident. The room crackled with tension, the air heavy with unspoken animosity towards Mara.

Elvie glanced up from her phone, a mixture of annoyance and curiosity crossing her face as she noticed the fury etched on her mother's features. "What's gotten into you, Mom? What did Mara do this time to set you off?"

Elizabeth sank into a worn-out armchair, her voice dripping with resentment. "That useless omega continues to be a thorn in our side, always causing trouble and disrupting our lives. She's a constant reminder of everything that's wrong in this family."

Jasmine rolled her eyes, a cruel smirk playing on her lips. "Why don't we just get rid of her? She's nothing but a burden. We don't need her dragging us down."

Elizabeth's eyes narrowed, her patience wearing thin. "It's not that simple, Jasmine. Your father would never allow it. He's grown foolishly attached to her, treating her like she's one of us."

Elvie's frustration grew, her voice tinged with anger. "But she's not one of us, Mom. She's an omega. Why does Dad care so much about her? It doesn't make any sense."

Elizabeth's face twisted into a scowl, her voice filled with bitter resentment. "I don't understand it either, Elvie. It infuriates me to see how he dotes on her, how he treats her as if she's his own flesh and blood. She doesn't deserve it."

Elvie's patience snapped, her anger consuming her. "Well, she's not his blood. She's not our family. Why should we have to tolerate her presence and endure the humiliation she brings?"

Jasmine's eyes gleamed with malice, reveling in the mounting tension. "Maybe it's time we put her in her place. Make her realize she's nothing more than a servant. That might knock some sense into her."

Elizabeth's anger flared, her voice dripping with venom. "Yes, perhaps it's time we remind her of her worthlessness. I won't let Luis's foolishness blind us to the truth. Mara is a stain on this family, and she will never be anything more."

Elvie, her anger now consuming her, rose from her seat. "You're right, Mom. She doesn't deserve our kindness or our consideration. She's caused us nothing but pain and humiliation. I won't stand by and watch her ruin our lives any longer."

Elizabeth's twisted smile reflected her satisfaction. "That's my girl. We will make sure Mara knows her place, once and for all. She will regret ever setting foot in this house."

With those chilling words hanging in the air, Elizabeth left the room, her footsteps echoing down the hallway, leaving Elvie and Jasmine to stew in their shared resentment. Elvie's heart burned with anger, and her loyalty to her mother overshadowed any sympathy she might have once felt for Mara.

In the darkness that shrouded their family, Elvie succumbed to the shadows of resentment, her resolve hardening. She would join her mother in making Mara's life a living hell, convinced that it was the only way to restore order and protect their own interests.

Jasmine, her cruel nature unyielding, grinned in agreement. "We'll show her just how insignificant she truly is. She'll regret ever crossing us."

Meanwhile, outside the confines of their troubled home, Luis sought solace in the presence of his lifelong friend, Troy Shelton, the esteemed Alpha of the Blue Moon pack. The two men had been inseparable since birth, their friendship forged by shared experiences and unwavering loyalty.

Luis anxiously awaited Troy's arrival, knowing that he could trust his friend with his deepest secrets and desires. As Troy's familiar figure emerged in the distance, Luis greeted him with a mixture of relief and apprehension.

"Luis, my old friend, it's good to see you," Troy greeted warmly, his voice carrying a sense of familiarity and genuine care. "You sounded urgent on the phone. What's troubling you?"

Luis sighed, the weight of his concerns evident in his furrowed brow. "Troy, I've been meaning to talk to you about something important. It's about Mara."

Troy's eyes narrowed with curiosity, his gaze locked on Luis. "Mara? Your stepdaughter? What about her?"

Luis took a deep breath, choosing his words carefully. "I've been thinking, Troy. I believe Mara is meant for something greater, something beyond the confines of our pack. I want her to be married to Andrew, your son."

Troy's brows shot up in surprise, his voice tinged with a mixture of intrigue and skepticism. "Luis, why would you want that? Mara is not your real daughter. You have Elvie and Jasmine, your flesh and blood. Why this sudden interest in Mara?"

Luis's eyes softened, his voice filled with a mix of affection and longing. "Troy, it's hard to explain. Ever since we found Mara all those years ago, there's been something special about her. A connection that I can't quite put into words. I believe she has a greater purpose, and marrying into the Blue Moon pack would give her the opportunity to flourish."

Troy's gaze softened, his curiosity piqued. "But where did Mara come from, Luis? Who are her parents? We've never discussed her origins."

Luis hesitated, his voice laced with a hint of sadness. "I wish I had all the answers, my friend. Mara was abandoned as a baby, left on our pack's doorstep. We never discovered her true lineage or the circumstances that led to her arrival. All we knew was that she deserved a chance, a family."

Chapter 3 Tangled Web of Desires

Troy's expression softened, empathy shining in his eyes. "Hmm, I see. So, you feel a deep connection to her, even without knowing her origins. And you believe Andrew would be the right match for her? Is that right?"

Luis nodded earnestly, his voice filled with conviction. "Well... Yes, I do. You are right. Andrew is a strong, honorable young man. I think he and Mara could bring out the best in each other, help one another grow. They deserve a chance at happiness. They are meant to be."

Troy's features relaxed, a thoughtful expression settling upon his face. "I trust your judgment, Luis. If you believe this is the right path for Mara, then I will support it. Let's give them the opportunity to forge a bond and see where it leads."

A sense of relief washed over Luis as he felt the weight of Troy's understanding and acceptance. Their friendship had endured countless trials, and in this moment, it proved its resilience once again.

As they ventured into the unknown, their hopes intertwined, Luis and Troy set in motion a chain of events that would shape the destinies of Mara and Andrew, weaving together the threads of love, destiny, and the undeniable bond between their families.

After his heartfelt conversation with Troy, Luis returned home, a flicker of hope burning within him. He knew that his decision to propose a union between Mara and Andrew, Troy's son, would not be met with universal approval, particularly from Elizabeth. However, Luis remained steadfast in his belief that this was the right path for Mara's future.

As he entered his office, Luis beckoned Elizabeth to join him. Her eyes narrowed with suspicion, sensing the weight of a serious conversation. Unbeknownst to them, Elvie and Jasmine, driven by curiosity and a growing sense of resentment, had silently followed their parents, lingering just outside the closed door, eager to eavesdrop on the unfolding conversation.

Luis motioned for Elizabeth to take a seat, his voice filled with a mix of anticipation and trepidation. "Elizabeth, we need to talk. I've made a decision, and I hope you will understand."

Elizabeth's eyes flashed with a mixture of curiosity and concern. "What is it, Luis? What decision have you made?"

Luis took a deep breath, his voice steady but tinged with excitement. "I spoke to Troy, and he has agreed to the union between Mara and Andrew. They will be married, sealing the bond between our families."

A flicker of anger danced across Elizabeth's face, her voice laced with disbelief and indignation. "Mara? You want our son, Andrew, to marry Mara? Why her and not Elvie or Jasmine? They are our flesh and blood!"

Luis was taken aback by Elizabeth's outburst, his eyes widening in surprise. He had not expected such a vehement reaction from her. "Elizabeth, Mara has always been a part of our family. She deserves happiness and a chance to forge her own path. Andrew and Mara share a connection, a bond that I believe will only strengthen our pack."

Elizabeth's face contorted with rage, her voice filled with venom. "You're blind, Luis! Blind to the fact that Mara is nothing more than a nuisance, an omega who has tainted our family. How can you betray us like this?"

Luis's shock turned to disbelief as he listened to Elizabeth's harsh words. He had believed that she cared for Mara, that she had treated her as her own daughter. The revelation of Elizabeth's true feelings shattered his perception of their marriage.

Meanwhile, just outside the door, Elvie and Jasmine exchanged wide-eyed glances, their faces contorted with anger and envy. To hear their mother speak so disdainfully of Mara, to witness their father's surprising loyalty towards her, ignited a fire of resentment within them. Their own desires for power and recognition fueled their growing jealousy, threatening to consume them.

Elvie's voice, tinged with bitterness, barely audible to Jasmine, hissed, "How could he choose Mara over us? We are his true daughters, his blood. This is unfair!"

Jasmine's voice, filled with seething envy, whispered back, "It's always been about Mara. She's always had a special place in his heart, and now she's taking away our chance to be with Andrew. We won't stand for this."

As Elvie and Jasmine continued to listen, their anger and jealousy fueled their determination to reclaim what they believed was rightfully theirs. A dark cloud of resentment settled over them, intertwining their destinies with the unfolding turmoil within their family.

Inside the office, the tension grew palpable as Luis and Elizabeth confronted their differing perspectives, their once-solid foundation crumbling beneath the weight of hidden desires and shattered illusions.

Elizabeth's voice pierced through the house, her anger palpable as she unleashed her frustration upon Luis. The living room became a battleground for their conflicting desires. Elvie and Jasmine, lurking in the nearby hallway, listened intently, their own resentment simmering beneath the surface.

"I will never agree to Mara marrying Andrew!" Elizabeth's voice boomed, her eyes blazing with fury. "Why should we allow an outsider like her to infiltrate our family? It's preposterous, Luis!"

Luis, taken aback by Elizabeth's outburst, attempted to calm the situation. "Elizabeth, please try to understand. Mara has been a part of our lives for so long. I believe she deserves a chance at happiness."

Elizabeth scoffed, her voice filled with contempt. "Happiness? She's nothing but a burden! And now you want to elevate her by marrying her off to our future Alpha? What about Elvie and Jasmine? What about their happiness?"

Luis sighed, his gaze filled with a mix of sadness and resolve. "Elvie and Jasmine are our daughters, and I love them dearly. But Mara has suffered enough. She deserves a chance to find her own path, to be loved and accepted."

Elizabeth's eyes narrowed, her voice dripping with disdain. "Acceptance? She will never truly be a part of this family. How can you expect me to embrace her presence, let alone allow her to marry into our pack?"
