4:45pm
15 more minutes and I will be free once more. Free to get out of this nightmare call school. It was a Wednesday afternoon and I was stuck in detention why, because someone caused a food fight in the cafeteria and who came out clean, me. Well thanks to my hide and seek skills but too bad the principal didn't believe me and no one defended me. Why, because I'm a loner. And who had to clean the mess up, the one and only. And who caused the food fight, 'DIMPLES' (according to all the girls).
'Dimples' was this guy on the school's IG account singing this song which according to Diana Carter: 'makes you feel like your on cloud nine' (messed up right). What was really messed up about it was that you could only see half of his face yet they were all over him. It was crazy and ruining my life. I hated this guy. Now that I think about it I was the only girl not all over this guy.
Beep.......Beep.......Beep.....Beep
Take off all my make up, cause I love what's under it,
The words of little mix's song Strip starts coming from my pocket. I glanced up at the clock in the cafeteria and quickly pulled out my phone and answer it.
"Hello"
"Kim, where are you," the scared voice of my mother said. I started gathering my things immediately.
"Madre, stop worrying I'm on my way," I said as I rushed out of the cafeteria, speed walking towards the front door.
"Where are you," my mother asked again, this time confused.
"Ah.......the mall," I lied. My mom is a dark skinned woman, who worked at a law firm in NYC or should I say she is the boss of a law firm in NYC. She is short, curly haired, sexy and well I'm horrible at describing people, so let's just say she's a supermom. And as I said she's a lawyer so I'm practically in a courtroom already. Oh and if your wondering why I'm speaking Spanish, well my dad is a Latino.
"Kelly Isabella McHale, come home this instant," my mother commanded.
I am so dead, Ugh I hate this 'Dimples' guy I think to myself as I practically run home.
***
I slowly open the front door to my aunt's mansion as quiet as I could, scary enough the house was as quiet as a cemetery which was odd because my cousins were the loudest little firetrucks, I've ever heard.
My mom and I lived with her sister, my aunt, Ciara. We have our own house but my mom always comes home late or never and she doesn't like when I'm home alone so we moved to my aunt's mansion, her husband, Raphael is a lawyer and a really popular one too. They got 3 kids with twins on the way. Kat is the oldest, she is 15 and very annoying, Justin is 10 and is always fighting with Kyle whose 9, over the silliest of things.
I looked around the house and saw that the coast was clear. I silently close the door and started creeping up the stairs but stopped half way up as I remember what happened the last time I tried sneaking in.
It was a Friday evening, I was 12 years old at the time. It was raining and your girl, right here, decided to dance in the rain, got carried away and came home around 6:30 in the evening. I was soaked to the bone and tried to sneak in. I was so proud of myself sneaking in like a spy and all but just when I thought 'yes I did it'. I opened my room door to see my mom with an angry expression on her face sitting on my bed.
So now I am going into the kitchen to face the music their. And I'll have food to distract me too so it was the safest plan I could come up with.
As I enter the kitchen I realized that it was empty which meant no dinner tonight and my housemates are at dinner except my mom since she's probably in my room looking for my diary even though I don't have one.
I open all the cupboards only to find them empty which is weird because my aunt always goes shopping like everyday. Due to her kids endless pit of a stomach, happy to say me included.
Confused and hungry I open the fridge ignoring the piece of paper pasted on it, only to see a bottle of orange juice and a slice of strawberry cake. Ewwwww, everyone in the house knows that I don't like strawberry cakes. I slammed the fridge door close and stare at the piece of paper in front of me.
'Your aunt and I went to dinner with your cousins and Raphael. There is food in the fridge and a number one the table. And sweetheart......your grounded.
XOXO
MOM'
I guess I got my punishment, STARVATION.
White Lake High is a savage school. Its the place you go if you want to be glared at every step you make, laughed at for the steps you do not make and bullied for being yourself. This school was created for stereotypes by stereotypes. You had the jocks, the cheerleaders, the nerds, the popular kids (who insisted that everyone called them 'the golden ones'), the bad boys, the film geeks, you name it they were all here.
I see all that from just walking to my locker. As I open it I come face to face with a locker full of....... emptiness, you see every since freshman year when someone stole my homework I have never use this locker. I close it and start making my way to my class.
Which happen to be English with Mr Crews, and no its not Terry Crews brother though I wish it was. Seriously its like the guy purposely hates me, its like this he never comes to class and when he does he always have a pop quiz up his sleeve and who always fail me, its like he doesn't want me to a straight A student.
Even though I am just scoring B's at the moment.
"Who do you think you are texting my future boyfriend like that," I hear a high pitch, very annoying, voice yell from down the corridor, where a small crowd was starting to form.
As I walk closer I realized that the person who said that was Angela Roberts, queen bee of White Lake High School. She was Barbie's twin sister if you know what I mean. Though she was more like Barbie's evil, stupid twin. Ever since the mysterious guy appeared she has been calling him her future boyfriend. She was arguing with Melanie Green, head cheerleader of the cheerleading team, who was currently dating the golden boy, Kyle Summers.
"Um, I don't see your name written on him," Melanie replied sneakily.
I watch amusingly as Angela lunge at Melanie and goes straight for her hair. Everyone pulls out their phone and start videoing the two girls who are currently pulling each other's hair out. Within moments I find my self laughing my head off until I hear someone clear their throat.
As I turn around I realize that everyone is staring at me. The principal looks at me skeptically and glanced at the dean who is glaring at me from her position beside him.
"Detention," she yelled pointing an accusing finger at me. And did I mention everyone was filming this it was so going to go viral but with not as much likes as the mystery guy I have grown to hate.
I open my mouth to defend myself but she raised a hand, silencing me. I closed my mouth and look to the principal who was swatting at something over his head he suddenly stopped and ran to his office.
I didn't even know why I was even looking towards him for help when he was the one who needed help.
The dean suddenly rushed towards the two girls rubbing their backs soothingly and leading them to her office. Wow, she gives the girls who were fighting back rubs and me detention for laughing at too bimbos who were fighting over a guy who they didn't even know it was just so unfair.
I huffed angrily and pushed my way through the crowd making my way to my class.
Whoever that guy in the video was, I was going to find him and beat him sense less for making my life this difficult.
****************
"The water boy is sick so you will be filling in for him," said the coach throwing a towel at me.
Today was the big soccer game of my school against their rival. The water dragons were going up against the fire drakons, cliché right, I know. Turns out my detention is to hand water out to the guys on the soccer team which wasn't a problem because they never drink the water provided for them. So it wasn't all that bad but the thing was tonight. I had planned to just Netflix and chill with a bowl of chips and my pillow. But no I had to go to this silly game. I didn't even like soccer, it required too much energy.
I stare at the towel in my hand confused. "For the fire drakons," the couch continued before walking into the locker. I turned around shocked ready to object but was stopped as a door was slammed in my face.
It's like all these people hated me for reasons that were beyond me and they also never ever give me the chance to defend myself.
Frustrated I threw the towel to the floor and walk out of the room and towards the field. It was a full house tonight, both sides were full.
Then again who could blame them this was the game of the season. As I walked out of the coach's office and glance up at the stands behind me I saw a uniform layer of blue and white. It was the colour of my school. The crowd was chattering among themselves excitedly. I shook my head looked straight ahead. The colour of the fire drakons were black and red. The students of Black Pond High School held posters and wore printed shirts with their players head on it with red jackets on.
As I walked across the field towards them I was so happy I decided to wear a plain white t shirt and black ripped jeans instead of my school shirt like my mom wanted me to. Some of the students turned to look at the girl who was walking from the side of the enemy.
I inhaled deeply and walked towards an empty bench reserved for the players. I was 5 feet away from it when a brunette suddenly appeared in front of me.
"Who are you and what are you doing on our side of the field," she said coldly staring at me with dark eyes.
I should probably leave town and move to a new country because this place literally hates me. Everyday is a bad day, every moment is just hell, every good thing is somehow turned into a bad thing.
Ugh, I hate people. More specifically I hate DIMPLES. I don't even know why I'm here since tomorrow I'm probably going to get another detention again. This was beyond infuriating.
I glanced at the cheerleader in front of me, I bet she has the perfect life, perfect boyfriend, perfect house, popularity, everything. Why am I even mad at her, its not like she hates me for no reason.
"Your school's waterboy is sick so I'm here to fill in for him," I replied softly to her question.
She stares at me with a hard stare for a while, she snaps her fingers and turned to her minions.
"Boujee," I whisper softly under my breath.
I glance behind me to see my school's cheerleading team warming up opposite of where I was standing. They were deliberately leaning over and flashing their underwear to the crowd. Attention seeking hoes, I thought to my self. Ugh, they were the reason why I am never going to be allowed to go to any stupid school party. Fake bitches.
"Harsh," an amused voice brought my out of my thoughts. I flinched when I realized that I said that out loud then shrugged.
"They don't exactly like me, so," I said glancing at the cheerleader.
"Anyways since you apparently don't need me, I'm just going to go listen some music somewhere until all this is over, Chao," I said walking in the direction of the exit.
"I didn't say that we didn't need you, we're just not letting you near the cooler," she called after me, I paused.
"OK," I replied walking to a bench far away from the cooler. I sat down and sighed, slipping my earphones into my ears.
The sound of Bebe Rexha_No Broken Hearts starts playing. Why do I do this to myself? Complete one set of detention only to have another set thrown at me. Now that I think about coming here today makes no sense. I'm just going to get another one tomorrow and the day after that and it goes on, an endless cycle. I wonder if I disappeared for a week they'd realized. Hmm, I could say that I'm on a vacation but instead I'd be in my room watching Riverdale and eating chocolate. A smile formed on my face. Or I could just pretend to be sick, nah that wouldn't work, mom would never let me stay at home.
My smile dropped and I sighed as the soccer players ran unto the field. The fire drakons were definitely going to win. They had the body and the gracefulness, did I mention the body. I would love to meet their trainer. I straightened my back as looked for the fire drakons captain, I hope he is hotter than my celebrity crush. I caught a glimpse of green but a red and black skirt suddenly blocked my vision. I took out my earphones.
"She is such a bitch," the cheerleader from before said angrily. She slammed her ass onto the bench beside me and my eyes widened. Calm down, Kelly, she is not about to turn into an actual phoenix and burst into flames and take you with her.
"I mean all I did was say that I liked her hair and she snapped at me," she said frustrated and staring at me in the eye.
My body tense and stared back at her. I have never been in this kind of situation before.
"Ugh, I've had people say mean things to me for no reason before," I said hesitantly to her.
"Really," she said calmly, too calmly.
"Yes," I replied cautiously, watching her carefully. She hummed and then smiled.
"I'm Frost," she said gleefully, extending a long tan arm towards me.
She must be on her period, I could relate. I've had my own moody episodes as well. I shake her hand and give her a small smile.
"Kelly," I replied releasing her hand.
"So Kelly, why are sitting behind enemy lines," she asked watching the soccer game that had already began.
"Detention," I replied lazily.
"What did you do, study too hard," she teased. I rolled my eyes and glance at the bleachers. I was about to answer when she suddenly jumped to her feet.
"GO FIRE DRAKONS," she yelled causing me to flinch.
"Warn me next time," I said to her as she sat back down. She giggled.
"I laughed at two girls who were fighting each other over a boy they don't know," I said softly to her. Her head snapped in my direction and she stared at me with wide eyes. She probably thinks I'm a freak now.
"For laughing, that's absurd, has Angela finally managed to brainwash everyone," Frost said shaking her head.
"You have no idea," I muttered in response.
The sound of a whistle was heard signaling the end of the first half of the match. Just because I didn't like it, didn't mean that I didn't watch it with my hyperactive uncle in law. My attention turned towards the field just in time to see a lean figure dressed in red and black walking towards me.
To say he was hot would be an understatement this chico was smoking and was about to erupt in flames. Somebody call the fire station or better yet give me the fire extinguisher and I'll blow him out. BELLA, get your head out of the gutter.
A deep chuckle left his lips and my heart jumped a hurdle. He sat on the bench beside Frost, who seemed to be unaffected by his presents.
"Sis, aren't you going to introduce me to your friend," his deep voice was so intoxicating. My hungry eyes watched him as he took a sip of his Gatorade and his Adam's apple bobbed. OK, don't think about it, Bella.
"No, the last friend I introduced you to, you told her she looked like a carrot, right after you slept with her," she said accusingly, she clenched her jaw and glared at him.
How could she glare at such a hot mess?
"It was the truth," was all he said before our eyes met.
Unlike his sister who had dark brown eyes, he had the most gorgeous emerald eyes, I'd ever seen. He tapped his sister on the shoulder then went back to the field. Wrong move, don't look at his ass, Bella but I was already staring at it.
I gulped and glanced at Frost, who was staring at me with a knowing look. Shit, did I mention he had a green ban around his thick biceps. Definitely hotter than my celebrity crush. Dios Mio.
