The wedding preparations that were almost complete had to be canceled because my fiancé was caught cheating on me. The woman he was cheating on even dared to come to the hospital where I worked. Begging me to give in for the sake of the child she was carrying. My dream marriage failed. I'd rather get unmarried than marry a man who cheats on his wife and likes to have one night stands. I should have been pitied as the newspaper of infidelity. However, the tables were turned. My ex-fiancé's family spread the word that I was the one having the affair. In the end, I received scorn and abuse from those closest to me. Fate seemed to be playing tricks on me. One day I met a 3-month-old baby with a high fever. He cried rebelliously when examined by my best friend. I tried to calm him down and it worked. As it turned out, Zain waas the son of a woman who had an affair with my ex-fiancé. After that encounter, Zain often stayed at my house. Not alone but together with Barra (his Om). Curious about the story? Keep following this story with the title "When CEOs Fall in Love"

Chapter 1 Prologue

"I'm pregnant with your fiancé's child!" was the one sentence that made my world come crashing down.

Today a young girl came to see me at the hospital where I work. She said that she had been impregnated by my fiancé.

"Is it true what you said?"

She nodded in tears. "Right, I'm sorry. It was an accident but I still need a husband. I don't want my child to be born into the world without a father."

"Alright, I'll help you. If everything you say is true," I replied, holding back my anger and hurt.

I never thought my love story would be this tragic. The wedding that was just days away had to be canceled because of my future husband's mistake.

"That's not true! You have to believe me," Daffa Evano Anindito shouted. He and his family came to the house to discuss the matter at hand.

"You have to take responsibility. The baby that is about to be born into the world is your biological child."

Narumi Azzura Arrasyid, that's my name. I don't want to marry a man who likes to have one night stands with bitches. It's better to give in than to continue having relations with an immoral human.

"I'm sorry, Rumi, don't make me marry another woman! I only love you!"

I left the living room and left the matter to my parents and my brother.

My disappointment grew when I saw no sign of remorse on Daffa's parents' faces. They actually defended their son on the grounds that he was framed by a business competitor.

Obviously, I already had evidence of CCTV footage of the nightclub at the time of the incident. Daffa deliberately approached the young girl and invited her to drink alcohol. They ended up in bed.

***

Finally, my wedding was canceled. All the invitations that had been distributed had to be withdrawn. Daffa's family said the wedding was canceled because I was caught cheating.

I don't know what sins I've committed? Until I get this tragic fate of life. I was the one who was betrayed but I was also the suspect of infidelity. How cruel the mouths of Anindito's big family were.

I received news from Ravindra Shaquille Arrasyid, my only brother. Kak Ravi said that today Daffa had a wedding with the girl he was pregnant with.

There is no love for him anymore. So, I'm happy with the news of my ex-fiancé's wedding. If I had been invited, I would have come. Unfortunately, I didn't.

"Narumi..." shouted the most excited girl in the hospital.

Gista Indira Wafiq was my best friend since childhood. She was a pediatrician.

"Can you just not scream for a day?!"

"Hehe, sorry beautiful Rumi. I didn't hear you call me earlier. What are you daydreaming about?" she asked, taking my hand towards the cafeteria.

"Not daydreaming anymore!"

"You're lying. You must be thinking about that asshole guy, right? Come on, confess, remember lying is one of the major sins."

"Says who?"

"Pretty Gista said," he replied with a grin.

We arrived at the cafeteria. I ordered some food while Gista ordered a drink. After that, we headed towards our usual table.

"Daffa got married today!" I said casually.

"Oh, that's good. I guess he doesn't want to take responsibility. It's a pity if that happens."

"Pity for who?"

"The girl he got pregnant. How can you feel sorry for her?"

I shook Gista's head. She didn't seem to empathize with my misfortune. "Why, isn't that what I said?"

I snarled at her. "This is you! Friends who are upset should be comforted. Instead of being insulted every day."

"That's right, Rum. What are you all upset about? It's good to know Daffa's depravity before marriage. If so, what will be your fate?"

Gista was right. It's better for me to know now even though the risk is failing to get married. I will not be able to be deceived, it will definitely be more painful.

Gista never liked Daffa. When I asked her why she just said 'Felling'. How annoying is that? But her feeling was right this time. Daffa is not a good man.

That man likes freedom. Several times I got information if he likes one night stands.

I who always think positively and think all people are good are actually used by Daffa. All the gossip about his ugliness never listened. Just because there is no real evidence.

"That's right!"

"Yes, it's true!" he protested with his mouth full of meatballs.

"There's no need to clarify! I don't want to talk about him anymore. It just makes me lose my appetite!"

Gista changed the subject. This time it was about the vacation we were going on this weekend.

My best friend loves the beach. She says the sound of the waves can change your mood. I'll give it a try in case it works.

The sadness and disappointment that still remain in me must be discarded immediately so that I can turn over a new leaf.

I must accept the destiny of life that has been outlined by God. No matter how bitter it is!

Chapter 2 After a Broken Heart

"Morning, Doctor Rumi..."

I sighed softly when I saw the arrival of the most annoying Doctor in the entire hospital.

"Morning too, Doctor Sabil."

"It's so bright this morning. Do you know why?"

I shook my head. Actually, I was too lazy to respond to the Doctor's tacky banter. But, there was no escaping it.

"Because the sun is near me. So, my heart is shining brightly."

"Doctor Sabil could be."

I quickened my pace to get to my room. It's not that I'm arrogant or disrespectful to my coworkers. But, I was avoiding gossip. I might get the title of itchy woman if I walk alone with Doctor Sabil. Moreover, the current status is available again.

Today I get a lot of pregnant women patients who are checking their womb. My days as an obstetrician are very enjoyable. Besides being able to share knowledge with prospective mothers. I can also share happiness with them.

When I give them the news that they are positively pregnant, there is always a feeling of emotion that envelops my heart. Especially when helping with the birthing process. There is a feeling of happiness that I cannot explain in words.

"Sorry to interrupt Doctor Rumi."

I jumped in surprise when the nurse who was helping me suddenly opened the door with a slight bang.

"What's wrong?" I asked Sister Rima.

"There's an urgent patient who needs immediate surgery," she replied with bated breath.

"Alright, I'll prepare immediately. Can you handle the rest of the patients?"

"Yes, Doctor. Leave everything to me. It's safe!"

I rushed to the operating room. The nurse on duty explained to me about the patient's condition. How shocked I was to learn that the patient was bleeding due to domestic violence from her husband.

After all the preparations were completed. I went straight into the operating room. Again, I got a surprise. The patient who was unconscious due to the effects of anesthesia was the wife of my ex-fiancé.

What really happened to her? Why did she get such rough treatment from Daffa? Isn't Daffa a man who always treats women gently?

The surgery was completed in 45 minutes. I managed to help a tiny baby born into the world. However, I did not succeed in saving the mother's life. Her severe bleeding and weak body condition made her unable to survive.

I took a moment to stare at the face of the young girl who had fallen asleep peacefully. In my little heart I said 'Why did she have such a sad fate?'

"Thank you for struggling to give birth to your little angel. I'm sorry I couldn't help you this time," I said as I caressed her slightly bruised cheek.

Hysterical sobs from Divya Elvina Juhar's parents filled the hallway of the operating room. They couldn't stem their grief when I said their daughter's life could not be helped.

I explained Divya's condition when she was first brought to the hospital. It was the girl's severe bleeding that cost her her life.

"Plak!!!" I staggered as a large hand slapped my cheek. "Ahhhhh." I touched the cheek that was in pain.

"Barra! What are you doing?" Divya's father shouted.

"He killed our little Divya, Pa!"

I widened my eyes as the man who had just slapped me accused me of murder.

"Not him! It wasn't the Doctor who killed your sister! But, it was her own husband who killed Divya," said his mother, hugging her son's arm.

With a gaze full of anger. The man called Barra continued to blame me. "Do you know who he is?" he asked in a loud voice.

Both parents shook their heads. "She is Narumi Azzura Arrasyid. She's the woman who snatched Divya's boyfriend!" he explained to everyone.

I shook my head. That's not how it happened. "No! You're wrong. I am not the one who snatched. But..." I didn't continue when Gista arrived.

It wasn't the time for me to explain what had happened. I shouldn't spread Divya's mistakes when she had just passed away.

I approached Barra. "I'm sorry that I can't help your sister anymore," I said before leaving.

"Why are you silent?! You should sue the patient's brother!" Gista has been nagging me ever since. Now she was compressing my cheek which was starting to look bruised.

"How could I, Gis? They just lost a child. The family is still grieving."

Gista snorted in annoyance. Definitely going to start nagging again. "You already know you're grieving. You still have time to slander people!"

"We don't know what information their family has gotten. It's possible that Mas Daffa's family is making up stories again. As if I did something wrong."

I took a deep breath and then exhaled slowly. Remembering the rumors that Mas Daffa's family told everyone made my heart ache. It left me traumatized.

A few days ago I met a school friend in a shopping center. He said that I was a woman who couldn't be grateful. 'You are a lucky woman. A Daffa wanting to marry you is a miracle. Why did you have the heart to cheat on Daffa behind his back?'.

How can I be the suspect? Even though the party who was actually hurt was me! How could Daffa's family twist the facts.

"Already, no need to daydream!" Gista scolded. Then she took me into her arms.

I finally cried too. The tears I had been holding back were streaming down my cheeks.

"What did I do wrong, Gis?" I asked with a sob.

She stroked my back. Giving me strength to face my trials. "You're not at fault! This is all a destiny that you have to live with. You need to remember Rum. Allah will not give trials beyond the ability of his servants." Gista sighed. "You're strong! You can get through this!" she said again with confidence.

Gista gave me time to shed all the sadness I felt. She said, I can cry today but from tomorrow I have to be a happy Narumi.

"Already, let's go home!"

"Hmmm, I'll wash my face first. I must look like a zombie right now."

"Your face is even scarier! It's already bruised. Plus, the eye bags beat the panda. And the puffy eyes are like my credit card bill!"

I hit Gista's arm. She was always so blunt when she spoke. No filter at all. She knew her friends were trying to move on. Still being insinuated!

"How mean!"

"I'm not mean but I'm speaking the facts. Let you quickly realize and return to being Narumi who is full of smiles. Your current appearance has turned you into a horrible zombie!"

"Oh my, Gista!"

Chapter 3 Misjudgment

Time goes so fast. It's been 3 months since my wedding plans were canceled. Now I can live my days calmly.

Before Daffa was arrested for domestic violence that led to his wife's death. He kept chasing me to apologize and invite a relationship back. At that time, my life was like being chased by a criminal. Making me not free to go out of the house alone.

Even so, his family still blamed me. Even though it was very clear that his son had made a mistake.

Fortunately, most of Papa's business partners already knew the cause of my breakup with Daffa. So, the rumors died down on their own.

Daffa had escaped from detention. He came to me and asked me to go abroad. When I refused, he did not hesitate to threaten to spread false news so that I would be ostracized again.

Daffa was crazy! I didn't recognize the Daffa I knew all this time. I even thought he was so perfect. Turns out, he's nothing more than a loser guy!

"Hello, Gis. What's wrong?"

"I don't think we can have lunch together. There's a patient crying who won't stop."

"Why?"

"High fever. If you're hungry, just eat lunch first."

Today we planned to have lunch at a new cafe near the hospital. However, Gista couldn't make it because she still had a patient. I was forced to go out by myself because I was bored of eating in the cafeteria.

"Good afternoon, Doctor."

I smiled at Gista's assistant. "Doctor Gista, are you in?" I asked before entering the room.

"Yes, Doctor. Still dealing with one patient. She's been crying all day."

"Alright, I'll go in first. Have you had lunch?"

"Not yet, Doctor."

"Then let the nurse have lunch first. Let me help Doctor Gista."

A bright smile instantly appeared on the nurse's face. "Really, Doctor Rumi wants to replace me?" she asked reassuringly.

I nodded. Then told the nurse to go have lunch. After that, I went into Gista's room. When I opened the door, I heard a baby crying.

"Rum..." Gista called out when she saw me coming.

"Why is it taking so long to treat one patient?"

"He has a very high fever. She won't stop crying. So, it's hard for me to check!"

I put the lunch box for Gista on her desk. Then I went inside the curtain that covered the patients while they were being examined.

I smiled at the Baby Sitter who was holding Gista's patient. "What's wrong, sweetie?" I asked the little baby with the beautiful eyes.

"She's been hot since last night and keeps crying. I'm so confused," explained the Babysitter.

Her little hands twitched as if asking me to hold her. I gladly took her into my arms. "It's really hot," I said as I held her tiny body.

"What's his name?"

"Zain Virendra Juhar, Doctor."

"Handsome Zain, you can't cry anymore." as if he knew what I was saying, Zain immediately stopped crying.

I smiled. I kissed his rosy cheeks. "Did you have lunch?" I asked the nurse who was taking care of Zain.

"Not yet."

"Then have lunch first. Let me take care of Zain."

Nannies Zain quickly nodded. Then we went to the hospital cafeteria to have lunch.

"Has she stopped crying?" asked Gista after coming from the bathroom.

"Yes, it has. I think I'm tired of crying. I'm so weak." When Zain calmed down, I invited him to sit on the sofa. "Have lunch first. The food is getting cold."

Gista gave me a thumbs up. "Best!"

"Zain is only taken by his nurse, Gis?"

"Yes, since the beginning of his check-up, he has always been taken by his nurse."

"Why, honey?" I asked as Zain's hand patted my chest. "Zain thirsty?" he smiled. He's so handsome it makes me happy.

I took Zain's milk that the nurse had prepared. Then gave it to him. "Slow down, sweetheart!" I said, stroking Zain's chest as he choked.

After his stomach was full, Zain fell asleep on my lap. Poor thing, he was so thirsty from crying for so long.

"Very obedient to you," said Gista after lunch.

"How old is he, Gis?"

"3 months. Exactly today."

"Is Zain's body small for a three-month-old baby, Gis?"

"Hmmm, even though I've given him vitamins. The nurse said that Zain keeps crying at home."

"How come? I think he's an obedient child. The proof is that he just falls asleep on my lap."

"Only with you. With me and Nannies, he won't stop crying."

Gista and I discussed our year-end vacation plans while waiting for Zain to finish lunch. We were planning to go abroad since we had two weeks off.

In the middle of our conversation, the door suddenly opened. I was surprised to see someone who had just walked into Gista's office. Her face looked so panicked that her forehead was covered in sweat.

"Good afternoon. Sorry to disturb you," said the man who had slapped and hit me a few months ago.

"Good afternoon. Can I help you, sir?"

"Let me ask you a question. Do you have a patient named Zain?"

Gista and I looked at each other. Why does she know Zain? Oh, no! Perhaps Zain is Divya's late son.

"Zain?" Gista asked.

"Yes, Zain Virendra Juhar. My son. Are he and his nurse here yet?"

Gista pointed at Zain in response. I was forced to tilt Zain's small body so that the man could see his son's face.

The man who said he was Zain's father breathed a sigh of relief. His panicked and worried face was no longer visible.

"Where is Nannies Zain, Doctor?" he asked, coming closer to me.

"Nannies Zain, I told her to go to lunch, sir. While Zain is calmly being carried by Doctor Narumi."

"My name is Barra Dayyan Jauhar. Just call me Barra" he extended his hand to Gista.

"Me, Gista. The pediatrician who handles Zain."

Barra looked at me. "This is Dr. Narumi. She's a gynecologist. Just happened to be in my office. She's here to help take care of Zain."

Barra squatted down in front of me. She stroked Zain's cheek and kissed him. "Thank you for taking care of Zain," she said softly.

I nodded. Trying to neutralize my rapidly beating heart. "You're welcome, sir."

"Can we talk for a moment? I have something important to tell Doctor Narumi."

"What?"

"I'd like to apologize for crossing the doctor."

"You remember me?" I didn't expect Barra to remember me.

"Of course. How was it?"

I looked at Gista. She nodded. "Okay, but after work."

Barra smiled making me even more uncomfortable around her. I hurriedly excused myself back to the room when Nurse Zain arrived.
