Chapter 1 The Bitter Truth

"Fuck you, Grace!"

Maeve Wright yelled, the veins in her forehead throbbing. She badly wanted to strangle the woman in front of her and send her to hell.

However, there was nothing she could do as two strong men had already tied her up.

Grace Wright flipped her hair back and folded her arms. With a look of disdain, she uttered, "Shout all you want, bitch. No one will come to save you. Why? Because the only person who loved you is dead. And it's all your fault!"

These words pierced Maeve's heart like a thousand sharp knives.

Some time ago, she was forced to marry Dominic Mason for the good of her family. She didn't love him, so she couldn't bring herself to allow him to touch her or get anywhere near her. She even did all kinds of things to hurt him.

Even if he died trying to save her from a burning house, she felt he deserved it.

All that changed today. Today, Maeve finally realized that Dominic who always seemed so cold and ruthless was actually deeply in love with her.

Regret tore her from the inside. She regretted doing all the terrible things she did and also failing to see Dominic's kindness.

"Dominic can't die. He must still be alive." Although Maeve had seen Dominic dart into the raging fire with her own eyes, she still held out hope that he had somehow made it out alive and would show up in time to save her yet again.

"Is Dominic Superman to you? Do you seriously believe he's still alive after walking into a fire that big?"

Grace's eyes narrowed to slits and a sinister smile appeared on her mouth as she added, "Well, Dominic did survive the fire. By the time he was brought out of the house, his entire body was burnt and his life was hanging by a thread. It might interest you to know that he was still worried about you in that state. Gosh! What a pity that the most handsome man in Morhurst reduced himself to nothing just for a woman who never loved him."

Maeve's eyes widened in horror. In her mind's eye, she saw how the flames roasted Dominic alive, destroying his handsome face and his skin. And all for what? Just to save her!

This made her heart ached like never before.

She wished she could turn back the hands of time now. If she could see him, she would apologize profusely.

She wouldn't care even if he was a top gun in the world of criminals.

"Anyways, he's gone. But you know what? What killed Dominic wasn't exactly the fourth-degree burns. It's actually you!"

"No way! That's not true!" Maeve shook her head repeatedly. "Dominic can't die. He's still alive! He must be!"

"Ha-ha-ha!" Grace laughed out loud and pointed as if Maeve was the biggest idiot she had ever seen. "Dominic's blood type is very rare. It has the Rh-negative trait. The blood bank he prepared for himself was emptied just to save you.

You don't believe me? Think about it! How do you think you were able to survive that accident?"

Indeed, the truth was bitter.

This fact left Maeve stunned.

She also had the Rh-negative blood trait.

She remembered she had been in dire need of blood when she got into a car accident not too long ago. The doctor complained that no blood in store matched hers. But strangely, she was able to receive blood supply shortly after.

It wasn't until now that she realized what had happened. Dominic gave the doctor access to his own blood bank.

"So, you see. Dominic is dead." Grace kept talking, causing Maeve to almost go crazy. Her knees buckled and she would have collapsed if not for the men holding her.

"And now, it's your turn! Once you are gone, I'll inherit everything Dominic owns and become the most respected person in Morhurst. People will bow down to me, and me alone!"

Maeve was so hurt and desperate that she paid no mind to Grace's words.

Everything Dominic did for her flashed through her mind.

Although he was a naturally cold man and didn't know how to express himself properly, he did wonderful things to show that he cared.

Unfortunately, his thoughtful actions went unnoticed because Maeve had been in love with someone else. She was so blind that she repaid his kindness with hostility.

It finally dawned on her that she had been so stupid. The only one who loved her used to be right by her side, but she kept pursuing some scumbag who seemed like he was cut out of the same cloth as Grace.

Maeve was gutted now.

She regretted everything.

If she had her way, she'd give up her life just to bring Dominic back to life. He didn't deserve to die!

Chapter 2 A Rebirth

"It's about time!" Grace uttered, glancing at her watch. She then gave a look to the two hefty men. "Get rid of her."

"Yes, Miss Wright!" The two men grabbed Maeve by her arms and dragged her towards the seashore.

"Wait a minute!" Grace suddenly called out when they were about to throw Maeve into the sea. She walked over with a malicious smirk. "There's something you must know since you are going to die anyway. That car accident was actually no accident. It's a scheme we orchestrated to get Dominic out of the picture in the long run."

"You bitch! How could you?!" Maeve finally lost it, kicking and struggling to get to Grace. It turned out that Dominic was murdered by them.

They knew that Dominic was so in love with her, so they orchestrated the accident just so he would end up using up the blood in his bank to save her. The plan all along was to make sure he had nothing to survive on.

Splash!

Maeve was thrown into the sea moments after the big reveal.

Cold pierced through her body like sharp icicles. Soon, she felt salty water hit her throat and choke her. Her eyes stung at the same time. Nonetheless, she didn't struggle at all.

In another life, she vowed to be good to Dominic. She was going to repay him for all he did for her in this life.

"Maeve, open your eyes! Are you playing dead again?"

A familiar voice sounded in her ears. Maeve's eyes peeled open slowly. The first thing she saw was a handsome face.

Dominic?!

"Is... Is this a dream?" She shut her eyes hard and opened them again, only to see that the man was still staring at her. Her eyes widened in disbelief.

This face had unparalleled features, especially those beautiful blue eyes... Only one person had these eyes. Was this really Dominic?

Boom!

Maeve's mind went blank. The next second, she realized what was happening!

It appeared that her dying wish had been granted. She was reborn and now back to the night of her wedding to Dominic. What in the world!

"A dream?" Dominic couldn't help snorting coldly when he saw that she was acting dazed. "Are you trying to say that being with me is like a nightmare for you?"

"No, far from it!" Maeve snapped back to reality immediately. When she sensed the masked hurt and anger in his words, she waved weakly and explained, "I just had a nightmare, so when I woke up and saw you, I was quite happy that it was over."

Dominic's brows furrowed as he stared at her coldly. He knew for a fact that she married him only for the sake of her family's gain and for that man's failing career.

"Cut the bullshit! You don't have to try to please me, okay?" Dominic stood up and put on his coat in preparation to go let off steam somewhere else.

Heat was simmering inside him, so he was afraid of flaring up and scaring his new wife even more. Perhaps her fear and hatred for him would quadruple in the blink of an eye.

"Don't go!" Maeve suddenly wrapped her arms around Dominic's waist from behind. She was instantly amazed when her hand brushed his abs.

Regret set in once again. How the hell did she get so blind that she chose that scumbag of a man over someone as perfect as Dominic? Did that jerk use a love potion on her?

The second Dominic felt the warmth and softness of her bosom against his back, his heart trembled. He thought for a second that this might be sincere. However, the next moment, he reasoned that she was just doing this because she was afraid of him taking out his anger on someone else.

"Didn't you hear what I just said? You don't have to please me." Dominic tried to pull her hands apart.

However, she tightened her grip and pressed her bosom against his back even more. He swallowed hard as his heart began to race.

"You're playing with fire! You know that, right?" In a trice, Dominic turned around and stared at her with his eyes filled with desire. His Adam's apple bobbed at the same time.

Maeve raised her head, only to meet his fiery gaze. Her heart skipped a beat and then began to pound against her chest.

She felt his temperature become hotter. The fire in his eyes showed his rising desire. She began to picture what would happen next.

In the past, this look alone would have scared the shit out of her. She would have tried all she could to get away from him. But this time around, she was only filled with anticipation.

Maeve's rosy lips quivered as she uttered in a low voice, "Take me, Dominic. I'm all yours."

Chapter 3 Personal Advice

Dominic's eyes widened and then his pupils shrank. He stared at Maeve in disbelief. Didn't she hate him? Why was she offering herself to him now?

Had her feelings for him changed?

Nah, that couldn't happen out of the blue!

Dominic recalled how she used to look at him with disgust as she said countless hurtful words to him. A second later, it was as if someone emptied a bucket of cold water on his head.

"Get your hands off of me!" He grabbed Maeve's hand even tighter. The spot he held instantly turned red. "Don't test my patience!"

"I won't let go! You are my husband." Braving the pain in her wrist, Maeve held on to him with all her strength and pressed her head on his chest. "I'm not doing this for anyone else; I genuinely love you."

"Bah!" Dominic chuckled, a cold glint flashing in his eyes. "Did you just say love? Weren't you the one who said you hated me and wished I was dead just a while back?"

"Uh... That wasn't me! I'd never say such a thing," Maeve denied stubbornly. "Even if that happened, that's not the real me. This is the real me. I love you, Dominic! A whole lot."

This statement hit Dominic like a bolt from the blue. His heart skipped several beats.

For the longest time, he had hoped to hear those words. But he couldn't help feeling that they sounded so unreal now.

It was all fake. Maeve was only putting up an act for the sake of that man and the Wright family. And that was all about it!

"Let go of me! I'm dead serious!"

As soon as Dominic's voice turned deep, Maeve looked up to find that his eyes were blazing red like that of a beast. Shocked, she let go subconsciously.

The scared look on her face made Dominic shake his head with self-mockery. Gosh! He almost fell for this crap. What an insincere woman!

"Tell me, Dominic. What can I do to make you believe that I'm sincere?"

"You think you still have a chance at that? After everything you did?" Without waiting for a response, Dominic walked into the bathroom, leaving her hanging.

Maeve sat still on the bed. She was in a daze until she heard the pattering sound of water from the bathroom. Her mind wandered again. However, she quickly shook off the thought and tried to sort out the matter on ground.

It appeared that she was back to their wedding night three years ago.

Maeve didn't want to have anything to do with Dominic at the time. But upon realizing that it would do the Wright family and her beloved great good, she had to change her mind and marry him.

To keep their marriage a secret, she kicked against having a wedding ceremony or making a formal announcement of the marriage. She and Dominic just went to the City Hall to register their marriage before she moved into his house.

Thinking of how badly she treated him from the very beginning, Maeve's heart ached with regret.

He had let her have her way severally. Perhaps because she was hotheaded and he loved her either way.

She had died not knowing about his love, let alone acknowledging it. All she cared about at that time was keeping her virginity and looking forward to the day she would finally return to the arms of her one true love.

"Maeve, Maeve! How could you have been so stupid? You rejected a gentleman to pursue a scumbag? You are the biggest fool ever!" Maeve slapped her head and took a deep breath. Staring at the lights from the bathroom, she made up her mind instantly.

In the bathroom, Dominic stood under the shower which was splattering out extremely cold water. He wanted to cool his heated body quickly.

Just a few minutes ago, he almost lost control and gave in to Maeve's request. He couldn't wrap his head around her strange behavior. She was suddenly acting like a completely different person. The Maeve he knew would never offer herself to him.

The thought of how her rosy lips moved as she stared at him with amorous eyes, sent a sensation down to his groin. His heart began to race again.

"Snap out of it! Don't be fool by her." Dominic slapped his head with both hands severally. Afterward, he took a deep breath and slowly got a hold of himself.
