Chapter 1 The wedding

A few hours to the wedding and no one had seen the bride, her calls had gone unanswered and nobody could find her. Mr. Marsh was getting impatient and so was Naya.

45 minutes to the wedding the groom had made his appearance but there was still no sign of the bride.

Naya burst into the bride's hotel room and only her makeup artist and the other stylists were in there. Waiting for the bride so they could do their job. The makeup artist caught Naya's eye. She had a similar figure as the model. She just had a bigger bust than her, but they could work with that. After all, Luna, the original bride didn't reveal her face at the press conference.

She pulled the make up artist aside and whispered in her ear.

"What's your name?"

"Brittany, you can call me Bre" she responded.

"Brittany, the bride hasn't showed up and it's 45 minutes to commence the ceremony, there's paparazzi and media that are ready to embarrass Cole if something goes wrong" Brittany wondered why Naya was telling her all this, she was only here to do her job, she didn't care about anything else. "You have a similar body type as Luna can you be the back up bride for us? Dress up and get your make up done, we'll present you as the bride if she doesn't show up" Naya said to her.

"Huh? Why? No I can't" Brittany began to protest.

"$100,000 if you do this I'll pay you $100,000 cool cash, you just have to show up for after the wedding you'll end up being a free woman with a 100,000 bucks, in your bank account" Naya announced to her.

"I don't have to go through a divorce and all that?" Brittany asked.

"No you don't, a minute after the wedding is over the marriage is also over, technically you'll only be married for a minute yet you get to walk away with 100,000 bucks, isn't it wonderful?"

Brittany was amused, 100,00 could cover rent for many months, take her on vacations, pay for her needs and still have a lot of it left in her account of course she was taking this opportunity.

"I'm in!" She announced.

"Great!" Naya yelled and turned to the stylists "dress her up for the wedding we have 40 minutes to get done and get to the ceremonial hall" she instructed and walked out.

Cole and Sean sat at the front seat waiting for the bride to show up.

"You know you can always change your mind if you want to bro, you don't have to go this far" Sean whispered in Cole's ears and laughed.

"Oh shut up this is all your fault, can't wait for all this to be over" Cole replied.

Cole was ready to put on his best acting skills when the bride stepped in. They all gave the bride a standing ovation as she walked in, but Cole was busily looking at the person behind the veil. It didn't look like Luna, who was this? He quickly knocked himself back to reality and pretended to cry because his bride was finally in.

Sean played along and consoled his friend. When it was time to unveil the bride the paparazzi and attendees were on standby everyone including Cole himself wanted a good shot of the face of the woman who had managed to capture the heart of the award winning actor, Cole Williams"

Cole confidently took off the veil and was surprised to see the unfamiliar bride.

"Wow!" He exclaimed and stole a glance at Naya who sighed and closed her eyes in frustration. "Play along Cole" she prayed desperately.

"I can't believe how beautiful you look my darling, could you be anymore beautiful?" Cole exclaimed.

Brittany smiled and admired Cole's adorably cute face. "I thought you couldn't look any more handsome than you did yesterday, boy was I wrong, I feel like the luckiest girl in the world"

"Of course you feel lucky, you money hungry sloth, I'm sure she jumped in the moment she heard about $100,000" Cole thought to himself. The paparazzi lights went flashing wildly in the face of Brittany as she smiled at her dear one minute husband. While the only thing running through her mind were the things she would do with the money as soon as she received it. Cole may have been the crush of many girls but no girl will want to be married to a guy they knew nothing about or never even spoken to before if there was nothing to gain from it, so it was very awkward when they had to kiss, Cole was also uncomfortable but his acting skills were great so he just pressed his lips against hers for about 5 seconds and let her go. For moments they both felt awkward. Cole began to beam with smiles as the ceremony drew closer to an end knowing that the minute it was over he could have his normal life back. Just then the couple were ushered to go sign their marriage certificates at the high table.

Cole frowned "didn't they say this was fake? If so, why were they supposed to sign a certificate" he thought to himself as he took his bride's hand and led her to the high table.

Brittany also looked confused, she wasn't told she was going to sign any marriage certificates, what was happening? The confusion in their minds was perfectly hidden behind the smiles on their faces as they waved to the crowd, the bride grabbed her own seat and so did Cole. They both sat down and looked at the papers before them. It wasn't a certificate per say it was a contract between a woman named Malorie and Naya, the details of the contract had not been discussed with the one minute couple, yet they were expected to sign the papers. Brittany panicked. What if she didn't agree with certain terms and conditions, would she still be bound by the contract? Cole sensed her hesitation and he himself did not want to sign the papers but the media was watching, they could sign it and later discuss the terms. He leaned over and whispered in Brittany's ear.

"Just sign the raggedy paper, the minute we leave here, this will all mean nothing,"

Chapter 2 The contract

Cole sensed her hesitation and he himself did not want to sign the papers but the media was watching they could sign it now and later discuss the terms. He leaned over and whispered in Brittany's ear.

"Just sign the raggedy paper, the minute we leave here, this will all mean nothing,"

he said it casually making Brittany giggle, the paparazzi seized the opportunity to capture the beautiful moment.

When the rest of the hired guest were dancing, drinking, and enjoying the reception Sean went closer to Cole and whispered.

"Great job you did there what happens now? You're married or not?"

"I'm still single the minute the ceremony ends, no one is going to tie me down and take half my money like Genevieve did to you," Cole said teasingly.

Soon the ceremony came to an end and Brittany rushed over to Naya who was at the reception, she pulled a piece of paper out of her bra and handed it to her.

"My account details, we're done now right?" She said excitedly.

"Yes but there's some new developments"

"What? You can't pay my money?" Brittany shrieked with fear.

"No, it's nothing like that, it's just that the paparazzi got your images out there and. " Naya started but Brittany brushed her off.

"Forget about that, just wire the money to my account and we're through, I don't want to stay a minute longer in this gown" she took two steps forward and exclaimed with her hands in the air "Yay I'm rich!"

Cole heard her as he walked into the receptionist's booth and frowned.

"I knew she was a shameless, money-hungry sloth but can't she hide it till she leaves here at least?" Cole remarked.

His words pissed Brittany off, she turned around with a frown on her face.

"And you are an attention-seeking, two-faced, sly bastard. If it wasn't for money why are you in showbiz anyway? Why don't you go start a small farm in the outskirts of the country and marry and have many farm children?" She snapped back at him.

"Enough you two, it's too early to start fighting it's barely a minute after you two got married" Naya cut in.

"Great reminder, just wire the money into my account, I don't want to spend a minute more in this dress or with this man," Brittany said and walked away.

"Wait you have to listen to the terms of the contract you just signed!" Naya yelled out but Brittany was too far gone to hear her. "This girl, is much rougher than I imagined her to be" Naya remarked.

"Yes, I can see that you have a good eye for spotting the crazy ones" Cole said sarcastically and Naya rolled her eyes.

"Well, Cole, last minutes to the wedding, things had to change, first was Malorie, she made a deal with us, she paid 50,000 to publicize her new event hall on grounds that your relationship stays unproblematic and drama free for at least 8 months because she'll be using your wedding pictures and videos as a promotional material for the hall, so she needs a model relationship"

"What?" Cole frowned. "When did you plan that and why didn't you tell me?" He yelled.

"See, because there was little time okay, there was very little time" Naya responded.

"Was the time so little to think it through? This marriage is already over. The bride is gone, how do we have that exemplary relationship you're talking about?" Cole ranted.

"That was why I wanted to talk to you two, but you pissed her off and now she's gone" Naya yelled.

"Well, I don't care as long as I'm concerned this is your problem to fix, I'm done here," Cole said carelessly and walked away.

Meanwhile Brittany was on her way home singing,

"I'm rich, I'm rich, I'm rich" she sang and danced her way to the hotel exit "I woke up one day and I was rich, all I had to do was wear a wedding ring and a wedding dress and boom, I became rich, rich, rich, rich. The people who looked down on me now look up to me, why because I'm rich, I'm rich, I'm rich, I'm rich!" As she carried her make up kit out of the hotel she smiled a smile of satisfaction and walked to the bus stop.

She immediately took off her wedding band and threw it away and then stopped a cab making straight to her rooftop apartment. Paparazzi had already taken pictures of her stopping a cab without her wedding band on, unknown to her.

When she got to her apartment the landlady had already gotten a group of people to break into her room and throw her things out. She ran onto the scene and tried to catch the things that were flying out.

"Oh no! Oh no! Mrs. Roberts don't treat me like this, I'll pay all I owe you" she pleaded.

"I was a fool to believe that statement 6 months ago and I'll be a bigger fool if I believe it again" she yelled.

"Throw them all out" she ordered the men.

"Mrs. Roberts, I know I haven't been truthful to you but this time I swear I'll pay all I owe and even pay in advance" Brittany begged.

"With what money? You told me you were making money from your vlog, I checked and you had only 10 subscribers and 30 hate comments, how will such a vlog pay your rent?" Mrs. Roberts yelled.

"I know I let you down, but this money isn't from vlogging, this one is from a good source, I promise you by tomorrow morning I'll send you everything including your advance payment" she begged.

The old woman looked at her for a while and decided not to believe her this time round.

"No!" She yelled because she had heard enough stories from Brittany to believe her.

"If you have money now, do yourself and I a big favor and find yourself a new place" Brittany continued pleading with her, while her clothes flew out.

The paparazzi that had begun to tail her had decided to capture the spectacular moment too. Long after dark Brittany sat outside packing all her things into her suitcases and some cardboard boxes.

"Well guess I have nowhere to sleep tonight, why don't I just go drink my sorrows away, by morning my payments will be made and I'll be able to start my life afresh" She gathered her belongings and set off happily for the bar.

Chapter 3 Paparazzi

She gathered her belongings in one place and set off happily for the bar. When she got there she sat at the counter and happily tapped on it.

"Give me the best punch you have, today is a happy day"

"Bre, why didn't you tell me you were getting married? I thought we were friends?" Lora quizzed.

"What? where did you hear that from?" Brittany asked in utter shock.

"It's all over social media, you got married to no other person than Cole, Cole Williams wow! How could you keep such a secret from me?" Lora complained.

Brittany was beyond shocked to find out that the news had travelled so fast, she wasn't expecting such a wide coverage of such an event.

At most she only thought it was a commercial and she had been lucky to be used as a backup model for Luna. She had never sat down to process what had happened.

"I got married to Cole?" She exclaimed.

"Hey, are you high? Or you have a twin? Look at this" Lora took out her phone and showed her the articles online.

"All you need to know about Brittany, Cole Williams' beloved wife" one article read.

She gasped and coughed so loudly that Lora offered her water.

"You didn't know anything about this? Is that your clone then?" Lora quizzed.

"No, no. I thought it was a commercial? I didn't think it was a real wedding" Brittany tried to explain.

"What? You must be drunk, I'm hurt that all along you had such a rich man and you kept it from me" Lora moaned. "Anyways I'm happy for you, finally you won't be in debts anymore, this could even help your vlog"

"No, this isn't about a husband you don't understand, this wasn't supposed to be a public wait it was going to be public eventually why didn't I think about that you dumb, dumb, dummy!" Brittany harshly chastised herself.

Lora wondered what had come over her friend, for someone who had married a superstar she was being very weird about it. Maybe she was trying to prevent her from probing further into her marriage. Maybe Cole forbade her to talk about their private lives to anyone.

"I get it Bre you don't want me in your business but I respect that, let's toast to your new home" Lora said and poured herself some wine and poured some for Brittany too.

"Yeah, cheers to my new home I really need to find a new home," Brittany responded haggardly and tapped glasses with Lora.

As they happily drunk the evening away. The paparazzi flashed their cameras at the drunk Brittany and prepared themselves for the next morning news.

Brittany woke up that morning and made her way out of Lora's house. She checked her phone and smiled her payments were in. She made her way out of Lora's house with the intention of going to beg her landlady to accept her payment and let her back in her apartment.

She merrily stepped onto the sidewalk and was met with a mob of reporters who were all asking questions at the same time and flashing their cameras at her. She didn't look her best and wasn't in the right frame of mind to answer any questions.

She immediately took to her heels not sure exactly where she was running to. Brittany kept running along the sidewalk while the reporters chased after her, just then a black limo stopped few meters ahead of her and Cole stepped out, he grabbed her immediately she got to the bus stop and shoved her into the car. Brittany was panting wildly as she looked out the car window.

"That was close! Have the reporters gone crazy? Why will they chase me?" she looked away from The window and her eyes met Cole's cold stare he was seated facing her. She jumped back. "Why are you here? Were you the one who shoved me into the car? Damn! You pervert let me out!" Brittany screamed.

"Okay" Cole said casually and told the driver to stop. The car screeched to a halt and Cole's bodyguard opened the door.

"Why are you dropping me off here? What if the reporters come back? Take me to that woman from yesterday, I need to see her" Brittany ordered.

Cole sighed what a stressful human being she was, he didn't like her already. He signaled the driver to move, so the bodyguard closed the door. Soon they arrived at Rover Studios and Brittany followed Cole into Naya's office. The smile on Naya's face provoked anger within Brittany.

"You tricked me! Why didn't you tell me we were not filming a commercial?" Brittany asked angrily. Cole rolled his eyes and took a seat. While Brittany angrily paced the office.

"I never said it was a commercial, I told you Cole was getting married and the bride hadn't shown up so I needed you as a backup bride because you look like her and you agreed to do it for the amount we agreed on" Naya narrated.

"Can we explain to the public that all this is fake? You guys are ruining my life!" Brittany yelled. "Maybe you should've thought about that before agreeing to do it, but all you thought about was the money!" Cole said with a disgusted look on his face.

"Oh shut up this is all your fault, if you weren't so annoying and pompous your fiancé wouldn't have ditched you on your wedding day" Brittany snapped at him.

"Brittany can you sit down so we can have a discussion?" Naya said calmly. Brittany pulled herself a seat and sat down tapping her feet impatiently "this better be about how I can get my life back on track"

"Brittany, there was a reason for the wedding it was to do a damage control for Cole and calm down media controversy about him wrecking fellow actor Sean's home" Naya stated.

Some weeks ago a series of events had happened, events that threatened to put Cole's acting career in jeopardy.

He had gone to help Sean out with some documents and was on his way back to his house he least to be ambushed by the paparazzi yet again. He made a quick dash for his car and sped off, thinking he had escaped successfully but his troubles had just began.
