A girl of about 22 years old woke up on a hospital bed. She couldn't recognize anything and couldn't remember anything either. She saw a lady sleeping by her bed side. She just stared at her until the lady eventually woke up.
"You're awake!" The lady said with relief but she didn't say anything. "Are you alright? Do you hurt anywhere?" The lady kept asking but she kept quiet. She looked around and then touched her hand. There was a needle fixed to her veins, connecting to the drip just by her left side.
"Where? What? Who? And why?" She asked in a really confusing way. Her words seemed to be Jammed.
The lady surely didn't understand her.
"What do you mean?" The lady asked and she shook her head.
"Who am I?" She asked but the lady didn't look shocked at all. It was like she was expecting such a question. "Who are you?"
"You're Ivy, Ivy Carter and I'm your Aunt, Matilda." She introduced.
"And where am I? What am I doing here?" Ivy kept asking.
"You're at the hospital. You got into an accident so I brought you here." Matilda explained.
"I don't feel pains anywhere." She said and then touched her head, there was a bandage wrapped around her head. "Oh!" She exclaimed.
"I'm going to take you home once the doctors have discharged you, okay?" Matilda said and Ivy nodded.
From then, Ivy started living with Matilda not having memory of her previous life at all. The only one she had and could rely on was Matilda.
For some reason, Matilda didn't want Ivy to find out her past and each time she asked for a bit of information on what led to her memory loss, Matilda would make up stories leading her to have no recollection whatsoever.
Matilda enrolled Ivy into a business college with the excuse that Ivy dropped out a year ago due to health issues but had a fiery passion for business.
Truly, Ivy discovered she loved the business world and wanted to be a successful business woman.
For two years, Ivy was doing well in school and was happy even if she had no recollection of the past. This happiness gradually faded as Matilda was found dead in an alleyway.
Police investigated and discovered her to have been shot by a stray bullet from a gang fight nearby.
Ivy was heartbroken and sad. All she has was gone. She felt that the only thing filling her oblivious life was gone and now she had to walk a path she was unaware of.
Leaving the hardship aside, Ivy decided to move on and live life to the fullest. Graduate, get a job, get married and have kids. A simple life! But even that was impossible for someone like her.
Ivy worked at a famous and popular cafè where only the rich were attended to. This was as a result of intending to raise money since her aunt was no longer around to see to her needs.
The pay at the cafe was exceptionally high so she couldn't miss it and put up with the proud and arrogant rich people.
Since her school was on break, she had the opportunity of working full time. That way, she would be able to pay for her studies without hindrance.
While working, her mind suddenly flashed back to the time she woke up at the hospital. Why couldn't she just remember before then? Her head ached!
Just as she was lost in thoughts, the news about Damien Sun came up.
He was the CEO of the the Sun group and a business guru at such a young age. Plus, he was every girls dream man.
Ivy admired him, not just because he was rich and handsome, she admired him for his talents in business. He was her role model! Her muse! Her bias! He was the person she looked up to with all her heart.
"Ahhh!" Addly, her fellow worker, a young and carefree girl, squeezed with dreamy eyes. "He's so handsome!" She exclaimed!
"I know, right?" Cleo, another fellow worker but unlike Addy, she was the serious type. "It's gonna take at least a decade before I can meet him." Although she was the serious type, they both had one thing in common. That was a love for handsome men!
"You girls admire his looks and not his do's. You'd be like the tenth million girl to want to meet him in person." Ivy stated and laughed. They laughed along with her. "Come on, we still have customers to serve." She beaconed on them with a tray of lathe.
Just then, three familiar faces entered the cafe. Ivy immediately recognized the one in the middle to be Damain from Sun's company. She was so thrilled at seeing him and didn't know she was taking steps towards his table.
The other two, whom she could point out to be his close associates, Jones and Clark, followed him steadily.
Ivy got to their table to ask for their orders with the tray of lathe still in her hands.
They simply ignored the waitress standing before them and with an embarrassed feeling, she decided to let someone else take their order. But in the course of leaving, she accidently tripped over something and her whole tray fell on Damain.
Everyone gasped with wide and shocked eyes. Ivy had not seen where the tray had fallen but she was on the floor. She quickly got up to avoid more form of embarrassment.
She stood up to see the shock on everyone's faces and wondered why they were shocked. She looked at Damain, only to see her entire tray's content on him. She gasped with fright.
"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry, it was an accident. I didn't mean to." She tried to calm him down even if he didn't look angry. He looked down and didn't look up.
"Do you know what happens to people who try to humiliate me in public?" He asked with a terrifying voice. There was suddenly a cold aura around him.
"I didn't mean to. It was an accident. I'll clean it up immediately." She got a napkin from her dress to help clean him up but he stood up angrily.
"You..." Damien raised his head and as soon as he saw who it was, his eyes widened. She was... He was completely dumbfounded. How was she here?
"I'm sorry, sir! I didn't mean to. I swear, it wasn't my intention." Ivy kept apologizing with lowered head, unaware of the way Damien was looking at her. 'What should I do? I really didn't mean to drop it on him' she thought.
"Flora?" Damien exclaimed.
Ively raised her head. Was he talking to her? The look in his eyes were unrecognizable and bewildered.
"Excuse me, who?" She looked back to see if there was anyone standing behind her but there was none.
"You're Flora!" He said which confused her.
"I'm sorry but, my name isn't Flora, it's Ivy!" She said, almost forgetting the incident that just occured.
Damien was confused. Flora was never certified dead but they never found her body either. Was this girl a lookalike? No, she's too similar!
He would've noticed if she was a mere lookalike but this girl wasn't. She had a tiny mole on her ear lube, the exact same spot as Flora.
'Whats going on?' He thought and turned to Clark, who also looked shocked and gave him a signal.
"Ahem!" Clark cleared his throat. "You've humiliated Mr Sun so you'll have to pay for it." He stated.
"Pay? But it wasn't my intention. Besides, I already apologized." She protested.
"That's not an apology." Jones added.
"What?!" She exclaimed. "I'm sorry is an apology." She claimed.
"Take her!" Damain ordrerd and they took hold of her.
"What do you want? I already apologized." She said while struggling to free herself from his guards, who suddenly took hold of her. "What's going on?"
"I don't accept simple apologies." Damien said. "You'll have to pay me with something else." He added and they took her out.
He looked at all the staring eyes, took off his coat and dumped it in the waste bin on his way out.
Damien's guards threw Ivy into one of the flashy cars parked outside and closed the door leaving her alone with the driver.
"What's going on?" She banged the doors and tried to open it but couldn't.
Clark whispered something into the driver's ears. She tried to hear what he was saying but couldn't get a single word out.
"What're you doing? Where are you taking me?" She barked, demanding an answer but there was none forth coming.
The driver turned on the engine and started driving. Ivy became suddenly became scared. Where on Earth were they taking her?
Damien stood by a pillar alongside with Clark and Jones.
"You think she'll fall for it?" Jones asked.
"Trust me." Damien assured.
The car drove around the block for about 15 minutes with Ivy in it.
The car finally stopped and Ivy's wandering mind ceased.
"Where am I?" She asked but the driver only slid down the window to expose Damien leaning on the door just above her window. "Where am I?" She repeated.
"You're at the police station." He answered.
"Police station? What am I doing here?" She inquired.
"You spilled on my coat, you're lucky I didn't take you to get a severe punishment."
"But it was an accident." She defended and looked aside. "It's not like I'd ever want to spill on you. You're way too good for that." She muttered, hoping he didn't hear the last part.
"What was that?" He requested even after hearing everything clearly, but she kept quiet. "You're going to jail." He threatened
"But I didn't do anything!" She barked. She has quite a temper and it was currently rising to its max.
'She's got a hot temper, just like Flora' He smiled. 'Things are getting interesting'
"Why're you smiling? None of this is funny! I'm having a really bad day and it's all because of my clumsy self." She blamed herself while hoping he would change his mind, seeing her pathetic state.
Damien was silent for a while. He seems to have had some things in mind.
"Okay! Let's make a deal then." He suggested, piquing her interest.
"What deal?" She asked.
"You need money, right?" He asked and she nodded.
"Yes." She answered, not sure of whether to say the truth or lie.
"Then work for me as a maid and I won't take you to jail for my coat. Maybe along the line I'll think about paying you if your service is good." He offered.
Ivy blinked in disbelief.
'Being the maid of my role model? This is a dream come true but, I can't accept.' she sighed "Being your maid will be the last thing I'll ever think of doing." She feigned toughness.
As if expecting such a response, be added;
"I almost forgot to say, your imprisonment is for life."
"What?!" She exclaimed. "Just for a stupid coat? How much is it anyway?" She asked not expecting the cost.
"You want to pay?" He asked.
"I'll see to it. How much?" She asked confidently.
"3 million!" He answered and her mouth dropped unconsciously. Damien smiled at her reaction.
'Even if I work as a waiter, I'll be spending 3 years and 2 months all in the name of paying debt and miss out my chance of completing my studies.' she thought feeling broken. There was nothing she could do anymore, she had to agree to it.
"Your silence disapproves? You'll go to jail then." He concluded.
"Wait!" She said. "I'll do it." She agreed and his face turned neutral. "But I have a condition." She added.
'This girl has a condition, let me hear what it is.' He thought and have her a go ahead.
Ivy was so confused, how did it all end up with her working for Damien Sun? She had dreamt of working for him but not like this. Not as a maid but as a business partner, secretary, or an accountant at the least. This was just too silly!
"What's your condition, clumsy girl?" Damien asked
"I want to work outside while you're not home." She stated. "At least, I can be of use to myself when you're absent." She added.
'This girl actually wants to play a fast one on me, huh? She wants to run away.' He thought. "No!" He declined.
"What? Why?" She asked, alarmed.
"You're in no place to make conditions." He said harshly and she quiet down. 'If you're really Flora, whatever happened to you must've affected you alot' He thought pitifully.
'That's to say, he's detaining me and making me work for him just because of some stupid coat.' She thought looking aside and didn't know when he got into the car until he closed the door.
It shocked her.
"What? Did you swear at me at heart?" He asked.
"How could I dare? You're my boss afterall." She said respectively and shifted to the end of the seat. Damien noticed it but didn't respond to it.
In no time, they at his mansion. The windows were down, allowing her the chance of getting to see the magnificent view of the house.
'Wow! It's so huge and beautiful.' Ivy thought.
While driving in, she noticed there was quite a number of guards on patrol. The maids too, they were quite a lot.
'There are so many maids and guards. I wonder who else lives with him.' She kept admiring the house.
Damien saw this and wound the window up. She got annoyed at his action but didn't say anything about it. She just gave out a deep breath to relieve herself and calm herself.
The car stopped at last and Ivy sat still waiting for the door to open but it didn't. Damien got out of the car, the maids bowed before him and he walked to the other side of the car.
The reason he wanted to help her was because he knew she wouldn't be able to open it. But, why not let the driver help instead?
"Get out of the car." Damien commanded and she briskly got out of the car. It was all so new to her but somehow, she felt familiar with it.
"Why does it feel like I've been here before?" She asked out loud and didn't mean to attract his attention but she did anyway.
"You feel like you've been here?" He asked, surprised.
"No! Of course not. It must be my imagination." She smiled and decided to let it be. "Where should I start from?"
Damien had a feeling that she was Flora but was also confused on how she could forget everything concerning him.
All the things they had done together, all the pains they had passed through, all of it! How could she forget? It made him sad! But it still wasn't confirmed that she was Flora.
"Nanny Feng!" He called and nanny Feng, who looked to be in her 70s came forward with a walking stick, dismissing the other maids to attend to their duties. "Please, provide Ivy with all her necessities. She'll work here from now on, as a maid."
"Ivy?" Nanny Feng asked not seeing the lady he was talking about and he moved aside. Her eyes widened on seeing the exact replica of Flora.
"I know what you're thinking. We'll discuss this later. For now, put her in order." Damien said and Nanny Feng nodded without objection.
"Come with me." Nanny Feng ordered and she followed, walking hastily. For an old lady, Nanny Feng was really fast on her feet.
Damien watched her from behind as so many thoughts ran through his mind. He took out his phone and made a call across to Jones.
"How're things over there?" Damien asked Jones who was at a bidding to own 10% shares of Leo's company.
"Good! Are you coming?" Jones asked.
"Yes, I'll be there." Damien answered.
"How's the princess? Do you really think she's Flora?" He asked.
"I don't know but, something tells me that she's Flora and she's just suffering from amnesia." Damien speculated.
"If so how do you plan on helping her regain her memory? Or are you going to let it come back naturally?" Jones asked.
