Chapter 1 The Genesis

WESLEY HIGH

March 6, 2018.

Phidelia stood in front of the sink, staring at her reflection in the mirror as she washed her hands under the running water when Tina and her friends barged in, slamming the door opened.

She jolted in fright deftly turning her gaze to face them.

"Well..., well, guess who we have here. The weakling." Tina said, leaning on the door of one of the washrooms as her friends took their stand beside Phidelia. "Guess what, I have been searching for you in the entire school. Am I just not thoughtful..?" she added, a wicked smile dancing merrily on her lips.

Phidelia with a shaky hands, slowly traced her hand to her bag which laid beside the sink, picking it up.

"Where do you think you're going?" she snatched the bag from her, giving her a dirty slap on the face. Stepping back, she gestured her friends to take over, "Get her." she ordered.

Before Phidelia could utter a word, Roxy grabbed a fistful of her hair, shoving her aside roughly. A wince of pain flashed on her face as she hit her back on the door.

"Get her cloths off."

"No, please..." Phidelia grasped, holding on her shirt as Roxy and Bella rushed on her with Tina turning on her phone's camera. She struggled with them for about 30minus. Feeling suffocated, her asthma kicked in.

She gasped for breathe as she slowly reached into her pocket for her inhaler. Just then, Roxy snatched it from her, stepping back with a smirk.

"Ple...ase...give it back." she murmured faintly, reaching for it.

"You want this..?" Tina took the inhaler from Roxy, lifting it up in the air. "Come get it."

"Please Tina," she gasped for breathe. "Please the inhaler..." she begged, struggling for her life. But Tina and her friends looked on, laughing their hearts out. They thought they were having fun but little did they know of the impending danger.

After a while of pleading and struggling for breathe, Phidelia collapsed on the floor. The smiles on their faces slowly fading away. They looked aghast at each other then Roxy knelt over to Phidelia, passing a finger beneath her nose. With bated breath, Tina and Bella waited for the result.

"What happened to her?"

Roxy raised a horrified gaze at them, "She..., she is dead.."

"What..? What do we do?" queried Bella.

"This...this is not good." she ruffled her hair, " Alright, calm down Bella, no panicking. I think I have a plan."

Bella and Roxy waited anxiously as she strolled over to the door and pecked through. When she was sure they were save, she sauntered back to her friends.

"Let's hide her body and bury it later."

"No Tina, that's too dangerous." replied Bella.

"And do you have any better ideas...? Let's hear it."

Bella who had no special plans nor ideas just growled, not saying anything in particular.

"Then it's sorted then. Come help me."

They carried Phidelia body to one of the washrooms, tossing her bag on her as they locked it up. They kept the key with them and hurried out of the washroom.

The rest of the school hours passed by and soon it was evening. Tina and her friends waited until it was 12am then they returned to the school. They waited for the security man to leave his post then sneaked into the school. They hurried off to the washroom, wrapped the body up with a white cloth and with much difficulty, carried it into the woods. The moon light was up in the skies giving out it light with the whimpes of the birds filling the atmosphere giving out a tensed and creepy aura as they dug the pit. After several hours, they were done. They carried the body into the pit, throwing her bag on her and hurriedly covered it up.

They heaved a sigh, dusting off their hands as the sweat on their faces shone under the moon light.

"Let's go.." Tina urged and they rushed out of the scene.

EIGHTEEN YEARS BACK

(The Birth Of Phidel and Phidelia)

LINCOLN HOSPITAL

February 4, 2000.

Sitting anxiously in wait in front of the labour ward, Randy instinctively runs up to any nurse who approaches from the ward wanting to know what's going on with his wife but nobody seems to tell him anything.

He slammed himself on the bench overwhelmed with exhaustion as he ruffled his hair.

After about Two hours of waiting, the doctor finally came out of the ward with a sweaty face, wearing a bright smile.

"Congratulations Mr. Hoods.., your wife just delivered two bouncy baby girls." said the doctor as he neared him.

"Two girls...?"

"Yeah..."

"Can I go and see them now..?"

"Yes but you have to wait for some few minutes so to give the nurses time to transfer them to their wards."

"Alright, alright, thanks so much doctor..."

"Welcome.., excuse me." He remarked, sauntering off to his office.

Randy returned back to his seat overwhelmed with joy. Within 10 to 15minutes later, a nurse walked up to him.

"You can go see them now.."

"Really...?" He rose from his seat. "Which ward please?"

"204..."

"Thanks so much..." Shaking the nurse's hand, he shuffled off to find the ward in which his wife was.

The nurse noticing his excitement, looked on with a smile as his back faded away through the corridor before returning back to his work.

After a while of searching, he got to the ward with the tag 204. He glanced through the glass door with a smile before staggering into the room. He got in to meet his wife and children deeply asleep.

He strolled over to the cot and stood beside it, staring down on his daughters. Everything felt like a dream to him. Having been married for years without kids and here he was, standing before these pretty little angles. It was like a dream come true.

Randy was still admiring his beautiful twins when the door creek opened. He slowly turned his gaze to it. Seeing the intruder, he smiled.

"Oh Emma."

Emma smiled, sauntering over to where her brother stood, hugging him.

"I just came when I received your message." Breaking from the hug, she turned to the cot, glancing down at the cuties resting peaceful in it. "Aw..., look at them...they're so adorable."

"Just like their mother."

"Yeah right." she commented and they giggled.

Jerome was asleep when she heard giggles in the ward. She drowsily opened her eyes to see her husband and his sister standing beside the cot. She shrugged, trying to sit up when her husband noticed her.

"You're awake." He rushed over to the bed, helping her to sit up.

"Have you been here for long?" she queried, glancing from her husband to Emma.

"If you're speaking of me then no, I just got here." answered Emma as she strolled over to her. "Let's say about 5mins ago. Seeing how peaceful you were sleeping, I didn't want to bother you so i went to admire those cuties. Anyway, congratulations dear."

"Thanks Emma, I'm glad you were able to make it here."

"Of course Jerome, I wasn't going to miss this for anything in the world. I went for the first flight over here as soon as I received the message from Randy." She added and they chortled. "Anyway, enough talks about me already. How do you feel? Any pain any where?"

"Not at all Emma, I'm good as new. The person we should be worried about is Randy. He has been awake all night."

"No need to dear, seeing you and our babies safe and sound makes me the happiest man on earth now."

After about an hour of chit chatting, a nurse walked in with a tray of medication.

"Can I have a few minutes of your time?"

"Sure, why not.."

He moved away from his wife, making room for the nurse to issue out the medications.

After critically examining her for some few minutes, she glanced back at Randy.

"Doctor Frank will like to see you in his office."

"Okay, thank you." He replied and the nurse smiled before gliding out of the ward.

"You should go see the doctor, I will help Jerome here with her meals."

"Okay, I will be back soon."

"Alright.." she nodded with a smile as he sauntered out of the ward.

Chapter 2 Family Moment

Doctor Frank was working on some documents when the door slowly creek opened. He deftly rose his gaze to see Randy pecking through.

"Oh Mr. Hoods, come in."

Randy smiled, fully opening the door as he stepped in.

"Have a seat." Dr. Frank gestured him to the seat in front of his desk.

"Sure.., thank you." He settled in, "Your nurse asked that you wanted to see me. Hope everything is alright Doctor?"

"Certainly Mr. Hoods, no need to panic. Just want you to come and sign the necessary documents for your wife's discharge tomorrow."

"Really...? My wife can be discharge tomorrow?" he queried, overwhelmed and surprised at the same time.

"Yes Mr. Hoods. From our close examination, both your kids and wife are in good state of health and can be discharged tomorrow so all you need is to sign the documents."

"Sure." he nodded with a smile as the doctor handed out the documents to him. Within some few minutes, he was done signing. He gently passed the papers back to the doctor.

"Alright..." Dr. Frank took them with a sigh, glancing at the signed papers. "That's good." he wrote something on it before replacing it back into his files. "She can be discharge anytime from tomorrow."

"Thanks so much Dr. Frank." he shook his hand as he rose from his seat.

"Welcome." he replied as they broke from the hand shake.

With everything done, Randy excused himself and shuffled out of the doctor's office.

He got to his wife's ward to meet the babies awake. One cuddled in his wife's arms with the other one in his sister's arms.

"I can see the cuties awake." he uttered with a grin, moving over to his wife's side.

"So..., what did the doctor say?" queried Emma.

"Oh that, he said Jerome can be discharge tomorrow."

"Really?" Jerome who was staring at her baby's face, deftly lifted her gaze to her husband's, a bright smile dancing merrily on her face.

"Of course dear." he held her cheeks playfully. "You and our cuties will be discharge tomorrow."

"Hmm..,hmm..hmm..," Emma cleared her throat, drawing their attention to her. "There is a single lady standing right here. You guys should have mercy on her."

Jerome chuckled, "Sorry Emma." she mumbled teasingly and they all chortled.

"So have you decided on any name for these little angles?" asked Emma, slightly rocking the baby in her arms as she made little cries.

Jerome glanced at Randy's face with a smile then back to Emma. "Yes we have."

"Really, that's so fast. So what are their names?"

"Phidel and Phidelia." answered Randy.

"Wow..., lovely names."

Emma checking her wrist watch noticed that it was getting late. "You should go home and freshen up bro. It's already getting late. Besides, I'm here. I will take care of them till you're back."

"Yes dear." Jerome added, "Emma is here now. You should go freshen up and come."

"Okay, okay, I'm going since you ladies are sacking me." he peeked his wife's cheeks. "See you ladies later."

"Okay." they chorused as he hurried out of the ward and they roared into laughter at his hesitation to leave.

By this time, Phidel and Phidelia have fallen asleep again. Emma gently placed Phidel back into the cot, sauntering over to Jerome.

"Here, let me help you." She took Phidelia from her mother and laid her beside her sister in the cot.

"You should also have some rest now." she said, walking over to the chair which was sitting a step away from Jerome's bed. "I will sit right here and watch over you."

She nodded with a smile as she laid back on the bed to rest.

**********

It was around 3pm when Randy got home. He slowly pulled the door opened, walking into the house with heavy legs, totally exhausted but the thoughts of his wife and twins was enough to fuel his energy.

With their thoughts in mind, he hurried off to the kitchen to fixed himself some meal. He searched through the refrigerator but there was nothing. Only some leftover rice.

"Guess I have to do with this." he picked the small bowl containing the rice and emptied it in a plate.

Placing it in the microwave, he hurried upstairs to freshen up.

When he had gotten to their room, he packed few cloths for Jerome and their twins. He placed the bag on the bed and glided to the washroom.

After few minutes, he returned downstairs all done. He placed the bag with the cloths on the sofa, staggering to the kitchen.

He rushed over to where the microwave was and took out his meal. Not wasting much time, he dug in. When he had finished the meals, he picked up the bag, racing out of the house.

AT THE HOSPITAL

Getting to the hospital, Randy went straight up to his wife's room. He slowly pushed the door opened to see only Emma awake.

"Oh, you're back."

"Yes..."

"Then I will take my leave now." she stood up. "Can I have the keys?" she opened her palms.

"Sure..." he rummaged through his pocket, pulling it out. "Here you are."

"Alright, thanks. See you guys tomorrow."

"Certainly." replied Randy as Emma glided out of the door, slowly closing it behind her.

He sighed as he slammed himself into the chair. The rest of the evening passed by with no especially happenings.

****************

"Good morning honey..." Randy heard a voice waking him up from his sleep. He drowsily opened his eyes to see Jerome smiling brightly at him.

"Honey..." he gasped, the traces of sleep lingering in his eyes suddenly disappearing.

"Why are you standing here...?"

"Stop exaggerating dear, I'm okay."

Just then, the door cracked opened with Emma at the entrance.

"Good morning love birds..."

"Good morning Emma." they mumbled in unison.

"Are we ready to leave now?" he questioned, with a quizzical stare as she neared them.

"Yes, will be done in some few minutes."

"Okay." answered Emma, walking up to the babies cot. "Hi cuties...." she murmured playfully as she held their hands.

Randy packed up their stuffs as Jerome got herself ready to leave. Few minutes on, they were set.

"Let's go." Randy remarked as he carried the bags, leaving the babies to Emma and Jerome.

With everything cleared up, they strolled out of the ward with Randy closing the door behind them.

*************

February 4, 2007.

Time they say flies without one's knowledge. It was just like yesterday when Randy and Jerome welcomed their twins into the world and now it's their 7th birthday.

Their parents wanting to make this day a fun and special one, decided to celebrate it at the Central park.

"Mum..., aren't you guys coming?" Phidel shouted from outside as they stood waiting beside the car.

"Coming dear.." her mother replied, sauntering out together with their father.

"Here, here, let's go."

They opened the door and everybody settled in their seats.

"Are you girls okay back there...?" Randy queried, buckling his seat belt.

"Yes Dad..." they both chorused wittily.

"Phidelia, buckle on your seat belt." Jerome uttered, glancing at them through the mirror.

"Okay mum..." she did as she was told without any hesitation.

When Randy had checked that everything was set, he sped off. They met few traffic jams on their way but within an hour and a half time, they were at the park.

Randy found a good spot and parked the car.

"We're finally here girls...who is ready for the fun..?"

"We...are...." they exuded, their mother giggling as they glided out of the car. They walked over to the boot and helped their parents carry out the stuffs to the park which was filled with lots of kids and their parents.

They found a convenient place under one of the shady trees and set up their mats for the picnic. After having some meals and a chattie talk, they decided to play a game. Phidel and their mother teaming up against Phidelia and their father.

"I'm here mum..., throw the ball over here..." shouted Phidel waving her hand tirelessly in the air.

Randy and Jerome watching their twins grow up with the passing years was their greatest delight but little did they know of the imminent clash which was ticking like time bomb ready to explode before their eyes to cause the separation of their beautiful family.

NEXT EPISODE

Phidel rushed to the living room where her parents was, looking aghast.

"Mum...come help Phidelia. I don't know what happened but she can't breath."

"What...?"

Chapter 3 ILL FATE

Returning home after the long day's activities, Phidel and Phidelia retired to their room, exhausted not even waiting for their parents to finish unpacking their stuffs.

Just as they got to their room, they both staggered to their beds and collapsed on it, falling asleep on the instant.

After unpacking the things, Randy sauntered to the living room, their daughters absence unnoticed to them. On settling on the couch, he turned on the TV set.

"Why don't you go and freshen up first as I get us something to eat." Jerome stood glancing at him as she picked up the packages of groceries.

"I will do that later, let me rest a little."

"No dear, you're all sweaty. You should go freshen up and get change of cloths." she mumbled, strolling to the kitchen with packages of groceries in both arms.

She dropped them on the cabin, lifting it out one after the other as she gets ready to cook.

Randy sat on the couch with his eyes still glued to the screen, reluctant.

"Honey...., ain't you going?", called Jerome.

"Gosh, she could be so demanding at times", he mumbled, shrugging up from his seat.

" Leaving already!! "

Jerome smiled to herself, hearing his reluctantful voice," He never seems to change, the same old him."

She chuckled, slightly shaking her head as she went on her work.

Within an hour, Jerome was all done, busily setting up the table, moving to the tune of her humming. Randy stood at the end of the stairs with smiles dancing all over his face as he admired her beauty and composure.

Jerome on noticing him, smiled.

"Oh, you're already here."

"Mm...", he mumbled and trod over.

When he neared the table, he pulled the chair in front of it, settling in.

At that moment, Jerome for the first time noticed the children's absence.

"Where are the kids...?" she queried, glancing skeptically around. "Weren't they with you?"

"No..., I haven't set my eyes on them since we returned. They might be in their room."

"Okay, I will go get them."

She hurried up the stairs through to the corridor to their children's room. There was silence in the room when she got to the door.

"Why are they so quiet?" she murmured to herself, slowly opening the door as she stepped into the room.

"Oh mine...., how can they sleep without eating?"

She glided over to their beds with the bid of waking them up for supper but on seeing how peaceful they were sleeping, she stopped.

"Poor kids, guess they were really exhausted. They couldn't even wait for supper."

She cuddled them well under their blankets and pecked their cheeks as she stared at them with a bright smile.

"Goodnight sweethearts...."

She shuffled to the door, turning off the light as she stepped out of the room, slowly closing the door behind her.

Randy sat behind the table patiently waiting for his wife and kids as he stared expectantly at the stairs. At that moment, Jerome came descending the stairs alone.

"Oh, where are they? Thought you said you were going for them?"

Descending the last stair, she sighed, "Yes I did but unfortunately for me, they are already asleep." she said as she trod over to her seat with her husband's gaze following after her.

"Really...?" he chuckled, "Guess they are too exhausted from all the fun."

"They sure are." she smiled as she gently placed her husband's plate of meal in front of him.

"Mm..., this smells so good."

"You should dig in then."

She smiled, digging into her meals. Randy also took his spoon and dug in. They continued their meals in silence and soon, they were done.

Randy helped his wife cleared the table as they carried the dishes to the kitchen.

They washed and rinsed them before retiring to their room.

Randy sat on the bed with his laptop on his laps, working on some project from work as Jerome shuffled to the side of the wardrobe, picking up her towel.

"I will take bath now."

"Alright dear." he replied, his eyes still glued on the screen of the laptop as he kept typing something.

Within 30mins, Jerome returned back to meet Randy still with his laptop. Hanging her towel back in the wardrobe, he staggered towards the bed.

"It's late dear, let get some rest." she climbed onto the bed, resting her head on her husband's shoulder.

Randy smiled, narrowing his eyes to her face. "Alright dear." he pecked her forehead before shutting the laptop, slowing closing it as he placed it on the drawer beside the bed.

Sliding back to bed, Jerome moved her head from his shoulder to his chest as she laid down beside him. Before she could realize, they both drifted off to sleep.

**************

The day being a Sunday, there was nothing much to be done in the Hoods family except their usual ritual of attending service in the morning.

It was around 12pm when they returned home from church service.

After having lunch, Phidel and Phidelia hurried off to their room to get their assignments done before Monday whiles their parents sauntered to the living room to have their leisure time.

"Be careful with the stairs girls..." their mother shouted after them as they raced to their room.

"Okay mum...." they chorused, giggling.

Getting to their room, they went over to their study table, picking up their assignment books.

"Let's hurry before Linda and the rest gets here. Nania promised to come along with her puppies today." replied Phidel wittily.

"I know, l know." replied Phidelia as she stared down on the assignments, critically taking the questions into consideration.

Phidel also drew nearer, placing her book beside her sister.

"Why don't we try it this way, 25x +10= 0. Then we try moving all the numbers to one side then slove it and see."

"Okay, let's try it." Phidelia replied they both went about solving the questions with rapt attention and concentration.

They were still on it when all of a sudden, Phidelia started gasping for breath, her eyes widely opened.

Phidel who had never seen her sister like that before had fear and panic rushed through her spines, suddenly feeling weak at that instant.

"Phidelia...? what's wrong with you?" she queried but her sister still kept gasping. Doing all what she could but couldn't help her sister, she hurried out to get help from their parents.

Randy and Jerome's eyes were glued on the TV set when they heard Phidel's panicked voice. They hastily turned to see her descending the stairs, looking aghast.

"Mum...,mum..., help Phidelia. I don't know what happened but she can't breath."

"What....?"
