Chapter 1 Prologue

Author's Pov

Hands joined, eyes closed and lips moving in a slow rhythm as she recited her prayers silently. Peace, that's what she felt whenever she came to this place, even though God has given her a luxurious life any man would die to get but the peace this place provided her each time could never be compared to any other luxury of this world.

Sighing blissfully she unfolded her deep blue eyes letting them fall on the statue of Jesus as she thanked him infinitely times for providing her the life she had gotten without asking for it. She felt a light pat over her head making her tilt her head up like a curious kitten.

A small smile cracked up on her lips finding the man that was always there to provide her the warmth of a brother even though he wasn't her blood related but their bond said something else. Carefully standing up from the kneeling position she smiled at him.

"Good morning, Evan." She greeted him and he reciprocated right away withdrawing his hand from her head.

"Morning princess, dad informed me about your arrival." She nodded in acknowledgment.

"Yes I just met him a while ago, but where is he?" Freya questioned looking around the church trying to find his father but he was nowhere to be seen, her curious eyes broke away from looking here and there hearing a soft chuckle.

"He had some work at home so he called me to come here in his absence, and fortunately you are here so I wouldn't be bored." She chuckled at his words.

"You still don't want to follow in your father's footsteps? " Evan sighed shaking his head confirming his rejection.

"I don't want to be a priest Freya, My dream is completely opposite of what my father does, I want to earn money and start my own business, I want to become successful so I could give my father relaxed life ahead." Freya instantly understood his turmoil and gave him support by warmly touching his shoulder with her small hand.

"I believe in you, one day you will be really successful I have a faith in you." She declared with a proud tone making the man in front of her smile widely at her proclamation, she knew how to put smiles on others' faces.

Evan's father wasn't a priest till he reached the age of 30, he married Evan's mother before following the religious path and that was after he lost his wife, Evan was only 5 years old when both father and son lost their mother, and wife in an accident. The accident gave Evan's father a new life and he decided to devote it to the one he had a faith in.

Evan's father wanted his son to follow his footsteps and become a priest but Evan refused, even though the young man had always been an ethical and religious being but he didn't want to become a devotee of God, he wanted to achieve a lot in his life and being an understanding father he didn't force his decisions on his son and eventually let Evan pursue his dream.

Freya and Evan met in this church, Evan sometimes stayed behind to look after the Church whenever his father had to do some work, and one day left surprised when he was looking after the place he witnessed an innocent fragile girl crying her heart out in front of her God, Evan couldn't stop himself from feeling empathic towards her and went near.

He kneeled beside her and consoled her with his sweet comforting words, they both that day grew a strong bond and they didn't even notice when their simple friendship turned so strong to the extent that they became unbreakable. Evan grew to admire Freya watching her trust in God and devotion to her one and only fiance.

Yes, she had a fiance, but she never shared much about that anonymous guy with Evan except his name and what their relationship was, he had asked her many times if she ever talked with her fiance but her answer was always negative. Her devotion and love for that unknown man sometimes surprise him.

How can she love someone without talking to him? She was a puzzle that he even after 6 years of being together wasn't able to solve. Freya had been betrothed to that unknown guy and she eventually devoted her life to him but what worried Evan was the question, does the guy feel the same? Was he waiting for her the same way she had been hanging onto him for the last 10 years?

Freya was an angel, an innocent pure angel, and for Evan, she deserved the world, he always prayed for that guy to love and cherish her madly, she was like a fragile soft flower that could whither away if you ever applied even the slightest bit of force. She had always been like a little sister to him and he like a big brother wanted nothing but her peace and happiness.

Finally, Freya realized how late it was and decided to return to the mansion, as soon as she reached she didn't waste a second and prepared the coffee before making her way to his study room, softly knocking she entered the place and let the tray be placed on the office table.

"Good morning uncle," Her uncle raised his usual scary eyes making her clutch her dress in anxiety. The color of his eyes always darkened when he looked at her. She always questioned God why he had to give amber eyes to such a dominant man making him scarier than anything else.

"You're late," He announced narrowing his eyes at her making her gulp down. Yes, she was late, for exactly two minutes. Her uncle was always strict with being punctual literally, he couldn't even tolerate anyone being late even for a second except for his wife.

"I-I am sorry, I-I was at the church and f-forgot the ti---" She instantly clapped her lips together when the man removed his spectacles and calmly placed them on the table.

"Again that church?" He inquired making her bit her inner cheek and nod her head.

"I already told you I don't like that priest's boy yet you're still meeting him!" He strictly darkened his voice slightly making the tears prickle in her eyes as she stared at the table in sadness.

"H-He's just a f-friend---" Her trembling voice didn't go unnoticed by him as he sighed heavily.

"Hope it stays that way but I will still remind you one thing Freya," He paused before leaning his back against the chair.

"You're my son's fiance, you belong to him. And I have already told you once, men in our family are really possessive about their women, so it will be better if you try to reduce the meetings with that boy because next month my son is coming back and I will fulfill this obligation the moment he will arrive here. I hope I am clear." Freya instantly nodded her head still gazing at the table.

"Y-Yes uncle I understand." The old man hummed and she left the office room with trembling legs.

Finally, when he was out of her sight she took a deep breath of relief, reaching her room she immediately took a seat on the bed controlling her throbbing heart, her uncle had never raised his voice at her, invaded her personal space, or even tried to dominate her in a wrong way yet he had such an aura that can scare you right away. Especially his eyes. And the fact that her fiance has inherited his father's eyes made her shiver but reminding herself that his eyes never scared her, her heart eased up a bit.

Suddenly her heart pumped with happiness, she smiled remembering his words, my son is coming next month and I want to fulfill this obligation the moment he will arrive here. She couldn't believe it, 10 years! After 10 years of being his fiance and naming herself his, he was going to be here.

She slowly pulled the sleeve of her dress up revealing her dainty wrist which had the small bracelet he gave her when she was just 12 years old and he strictly told her never to remove this from her wrist. She still remembered that was the last time she saw him and he promised her when he will come back he wouldn't let her out of his sight ever again.

The bracelet had worn out a little but it was still the most cherished possession of hers, not even a single day had been passed that she didn't wear this bracelet. Call her crazy but it still reminded her of him, it still smelled like him to her, and it still held the same passion for her the way it did 10 years ago.

She was betrothed to him the day she turned 2 years old, she was adopted by this family and she couldn't express in words how lucky she considered herself for being handed to them. Her aunt was the sweetest person alive, she had treated Freya like her own daughter and raised her like a pure fresh flower. Her aunt was religious that's why her devotion to her religion enticed Freya and she started praying as well.

Even though her uncle had been nothing but a controlling and strict man, she never got any fatherly love from his side or even a slight smile of affection but she still was grateful to him, he provided her everything she could only dream of, today if she was a graduate then it was because of him if she had food to eat and a shelter to live under then it was always because of him.

The man may have never shown any love towards her as a father but he had done more than what she had expected from him, if today he would ask her to give up on her life for him she would do it without any question or word. That much he meant to her. Maybe he never considered her as his daughter but she loved him as her father.

Freya grew up with everyone telling her that she was meant to be wedded to her uncle and aunt's son, and she decided to devote herself to him, thinking about the time they spent in childhood day and night she didn't even notice when her childish crush molded into an innocent love. She started planning her life with him, she started thinking of all the things they will do after their marriage.

Her biggest dream was to build a beautiful house with him, her one and only.

Leonard Ajax Steve

"Leo," I tested his name for God knows how many times, she just couldn't wait to meet him after so many years.

Leonard and Freya used to be really close in childhood but when he turned 17 and Freya was 12, he was sent overseas for higher studies and to learn about his family business. Leonard was the sweetest yet the most possessive boy she had ever met, he always told her how she was his, and having an extremely submissive nature Freya admired his dominance. She might sound weird but she liked the way he affected her. But what she failed to understand was the fact that,

The promises made in the phase of immaturity were meant to be broken.

Chapter 2 A dagger at heart

Author's Pov

Freya opened the curtains of his room before smiling at the place being fully tidy, she had developed this stubborn habit of cleaning his room every day, settling his stuff, and maintaining his wardrobe. She didn't want anything to look abandoned when he would return to his homeland.

Leonard had spent a decade in a strange country with no one at his aid, she wanted him to feel at home and wanted him to see how she took care of everything like her own. Soon her head snapped to the door finding her aunt smiling at her.

"Freya, are you done here?" She nodded her head letting out a sigh of contentment when her aunt patted her head like a mother.

"You know you don't have to do this every day, we have servants for this." Freya smiled shyly.

"I just like doing his work." Her aunt Sofia chuckled staring at her blushing daughter with a teasing smile.

"My son is really lucky," She exclaimed proudly caressing Freya's flushed cheek.

"I wish your uncle had given you permission to talk with him but no worries just one week more then you both will have a whole life to talk." Freya smiled assuring her.

"I know aunt and I am not even worried about that," She informed the tensed woman before they both decided to resume their work.

Freya sighed lowly when she remembered Evan, she promised to meet him at the cafe today but seems like she had to create a little distance between them from now on, her uncle never demanded much from her but whenever he asked her to follow something it always proved to be favorable for her. So she decided to discuss this with Evan and made him understand her position.

She had seen Ajax, her uncle being extremely possessive of his wife, sometimes her aunt even had to hold him closer to assure him that she was his and belonged to him whenever any other man tried interacting with her. She had heard the depth of possessiveness this family's men held for their spouses and sometimes this much obsessive behavior dreaded Freya.

She just prayed for Leo to be a little understanding and not be worst than his father, sometimes she also wished to talk with him, share her life and tell him about how much she loves him for over a decade but her uncle had forbidden her in clear words that he didn't want Leonard to have any distraction from his studies.

He did permit her to talk to Leonard a year ago when he passed his high studies and started handling Steve's overseas business enterprises Freya happily tried contacting him but to her disappointment, her uncle said Leonard was extremely busy with his life and if he got any time to contact her he would do it himself.

She waited and waited for his call, text, or even a mention of her in his verbal interviews but no, nothing. A year skipped but she got not even a single piece of news from his side. Leonard never did video interviews or appeared in any magazines instead he kept his identity hidden and all his interviews were in a written form yet she couldn't help but stalk him.

Freya had no social media account that's why she only stalked him through magazines, she wasn't allowed to contact any outside people. Her phone didn't even have a Facebook feature as her uncle didn't like this stuff. She was only allowed to use the phone for call or message purposes but it never bothered her or felt suffocating to her.

She was used to this and the addition to it she herself never liked trying to browse anything on social media. She liked staying out of trouble and living in her own small peaceful space, she had only three purposes in life,

To make her uncle and aunt happy no matter what she had to do for that.

To follow her God's teaching and pray regularly.

And to devote her love, passion, and purity to her Leo, her fiance, her love.

Evan was also a part of her life but her purpose related to him was to only be a loyal and compassionate friend to him, he had supported her a lot in the past few years and she wanted to give him a helping hand of comfort in every path of her life.

Finally finishing her chores she took a cup of tea and decided to sit in the garden to relax a bit, she also had to apologize to Evan for not being able to meet him today. Placing the cup on the bench she pulled her phone out and dialed his number.

"Hello princess," A small smile instantly pulled over her lips at his endearment.

"Hey Evan, I am sorry I couldn't come today." She apologized hearing a small chuckle from the other side.

"Princess relax it's not a big deal, but tell me what's the matter? Did I do something to make you upset?" Her face fell upon hearing his words, how will she ever maintain a distance from him when he meant to her so much?

"No Evan you didn't, I just have something important to discuss with you, how about we meet at the church." Evan accepted her offer and they both talked for a bit before Evan excused himself.

Placing the phone on her lap she grabbed the tea cup staring at the garden grass with sad eyes, "Don't be sad," She flinched turning her head to her aunt who smiled taking a seat beside her.

"Ajax is quite strict in these matters but I am sure my Leo would be a little different after all he had spent his whole life overseas. He must be broad minded not like Ajax." Sofia tried to comfort Freya who sadly smiled at her.

"Uncle also went overseas, but he didn't change." She reminded the woman who sighed looking at the beautiful flowers.

"You're right but not everyone is the same, maybe Leo would be different. So, don't worry just think positive." And this is what always brought a blissful smile over Freya's lips, her aunt never let any negative thoughts grace her mind.

"Thank you." Sofia smiled nodding her head.

Three days swept away and tomorrow Freya had to go and meet Evan, she had been preparing herself for what she will tell him and how! But she also knew eventually she had to build a little wall between their friendship after all she always knew about the possessiveness of this family's men and she agreed to marry the son of Steve with her whole will.

"Aunt this is the list of groceries, I have ma---" She abruptly stilled on the spot when her eyes fell over two unknown figures standing in the hallway of the mention.

Her breath hitched the moment her bright blue eyes collided with the familiar dark amber ones, the list of groceries slipped away from her hand as her eyes widened in astonishment. Everything seemed to be wiped away from her surroundings but him, she couldn't think or look at anything else except him. He was supposed to arrive three days later than how?

Leonard Steve, her fiance, the man she waited a decade for was standing in front of her staring at her with nothing, his deep emotionless eyes matched her shocked ones but not even a single emotion flashed in them. There was no softness, happiness, or even the slightest sense of longing in them for her.

He looked stiff and unbothered.

"Freya," Her trance broke as she blinked multiple times turning her head to her uncle who called her name.

She gulped again glancing at the tall man and then finally her eyes decided to acknowledge another new face standing there, beside her fiance, way closer than for her liking. Her heart vigorously thumped against her chest as she stared at the duo.

"Wouldn't you greet them?" Her uncle again interrupted her train of thought and this time her eyes met her aunt's who looked unusually sad and disappointed.

She wasn't even looking at Freya anymore which made her heart race in discomfort. Looking at her uncle she gulped not having any confidence to glance at her intimidating fiance who was still drilling holes in her face.

"I'll go and bring coffee," With that nervousness took over her, and grabbing the grocery list from the floor she stumbled back to the kitchen but before she could disappear from their sights she heard something which hit her heart.

"Who was that mannerless girl, dad?" Mannerless? He called her mannerless and asked who was she. How could he forget her?

She recognized him in a blink of an eye even if they were meeting after 10 years then how could he forget her? She was his fiance for a decade and he didn't even remember her face? Suddenly she shook her head reminding herself to think positively.

Maybe just like her he never got a chance to see her face, maybe she had changed a lot in these 10 years that's why he couldn't recognize her, maybe because he thought she was a stranger he didn't show any emotions. Yes, that must be the reason otherwise he would have hugged her the same way he used to.

Relaxing her heart and building up courage she grabbed the tray of coffee cups and walked back to the living room, she took a deep breath and the moment her feet entered the room she heard something vicious, something heartbreaking, something which broke her beyond measure.

"Dad, I already told you that was an engagement of my childhood, I don't believe in it, and above all that," He paused for a second giving another wave of hurt to Freya when he slid his calloused hand in the girl's hand that was sitting beside him, showing their intertwined hands to his father he continued.

"Meet Janet, my girlfriend."

Just those two words in the end that he uttered were enough to drain Freya's energy, the tray dropped off her hands colliding with the floor making a loud crashing sound and earning everyone's attention. Tears stung her eyes staring at the man with horror and parted lips who finally looked at her but again she saw nothing in his eyes.

He was still looking at her with no emotion, no softness, and no compassion. The care his eyes showed when he looked at his girlfriend was nowhere to be seen when those amber orbs met with her watery blue ones. Her aunt instantly ran to her side holding her up as she felt like her legs were becoming lifeless.

Ten years! She waited for this man for ten years! She waited for his love, his embrace, his presence to be hers solely not for this. She didn't wait for so long only for him to replace her, to break her apart like this, to give her place to someone else.

Her uncle also stood up followed by the duo as well, she looked at Ajax but he was staring at the floor being in deep thought, she wanted him to tell her that his son was bluffing, everything he told her was the truth and this was a lie. She waited ten years for Leo trusting her uncle's words he had to assure her.

"And I want to end this engagement right now."

Another stroke to her heart and that was enough to drain away her senses, he couldn't do this to her. Her Leo was never this heartless, this uncompassionate, he was never this ruthless. He couldn't break her this badly right?

But he did, he eventually did.

What do you think, how Freya will accept this new information? Will she be able to accept ending the engagement?

Also, many of you might be that she should work and not let her uncle control her and all, but to remind everyone. The Steve family's men are extremely controlling and conservative. It might be sometimes come intolerable but trust me we do have such families and men in reality too and some women who willingly want to live like that.

Chapter 3 Bitter Rejection

Author's Pov

"You can't do this to her Leo!" His father resorted in an enraged voice making the young man chortle in disbelief.

"Dad! I already told you I don't want this engagement when you called me two years ago!" He snapped back staring matching his father's glare.

"I told you then and there that it was a sham of an engagement, I don't want to be tied up with a low-class girl, I have some standards, some conditions, and some demands that I want to see in my woman and she has nothing, absolutely nothing! " Ajax fell silent after hearing his son's venom-filled voice.

He always thought that his son was serious about Freya when he left for his higher studies, Freya was the perfect epitome of the woman any dominant man would kill to have. She was a submissive, innocent, and educated woman who knew how to make a home, and how to take care of her husband's wishes but now what?

Witnessing his son's anger and hearing his egoistic commands he knew Leonard has gotten out of hand, he wanted a girl as he brought with him, she was nothing like Freya. A complete opposite to be precise. That girl had the confidence to look right into Ajax's eyes, she even dared mock their childhood engagement telling the old man how immature they were to get little kids to get engaged with each other.

Steve's family's men always engaged to their future wives in their childhoods that's why when Ajax adopted Freya from one of his friends he knew she could be molded the way her son wanted her to be. Leonard was a little more possessive, obsessive, and protective in his childhood when it came to Freya that's why Ajax thought that she would be a perfect match for him.

But now all his fantasies seemed to be fallen apart after seeing his son rebelling against his decision, both his son and the woman he wanted didn't seem to back off. Their hands were clutched tightly as Leonard openly declared his love for this girl named Janet. Ajax couldn't look into too Freya's eyes anymore. For the first time, he felt disturbed and embarrassed, he was the one who told her again and again that she was his son's woman but now what? His son refused to accept her.

"She waited 10 years for you Leo," His voice turned softer as he thought about how it will break that fragile girl. She didn't deserve this heartbreak. She really didn't.

"I don't care, I never thought you guys will take this childish engagement this seriously! The era has changed dad and people too, I don't want to be bound to that girl. She repulses me!" Ajax snapped his eyes at Leo in shock, and Freya repulses him.

"Did you see her dressing sense? Her way of walking and most important the way she couldn't even look into my eyes for more than two seconds. You want me to accept such a girl. I have some standards dad, I can't even introduce her as my relative than to tell people that she's my fiance. No, I can't lose my face!" Ajax stared at his son with disbelief.

Was this the same man who couldn't leave Freya alone even for a minute? What had happened to him? Even Ajax went overseas for higher studies and he met Sofia after 12 years but he never forgot about her instead the moment he came back he urged his parents to tie her to him for his whole life but now it seemed like his son indeed had moved on.

"I can't do this injustice with her, only she has the right to end this engagement. If she said to me personally that she doesn't want to marry you anymore then I will accept to end this engagement otherwise," He paused giving sore eyes to the arrogant girl beside his son.

"Break up with her." With that, the man sprinted to his room while Leo cursed under his breath.

"Leo, what will we do now? Seems like your father wouldn't let you end this engagement." Janet questioned making him sigh heavily.

"I need to talk to that girl, I never thought they will still be holding onto this engagement, they are being childish now." Saying that he also stormed to Freya's room wanting to end this mess as soon as possible while Janet rolled her eyes looking around the place.

On the other hand, Freya palmed her face crying bitterly, the moment he announced to end of this engagement her aunt dragged her back to her room trying to console her but her heart wasn't easing up. She was crying continuously, she couldn't believe the words he uttered, he bad-mouthed her. This Leo didn't seem to be the man she gave her heart to.

He looked so different, so cruel, so merciless, the look he gave her after finding her crying because of his rejection left her paralyzed. He didn't look compassionate or guilty instead he looked annoyed by her overwhelming emotions, how can he change so much? Where was her Leo? The one who asked her to wait for him where was he?

Her body got startled and alert when the door of her room got slammed open revealing the tall buff man standing there glaring down at her, he looked at his mother who tried to get him out of the room, but Leonard was fast enough to step inside.

"Mom, please wait outside I need to talk to her," His mother stared at her son with disappointment but again thinking of her husband she thought that Ajax might have sent him here. Maybe Leonard finally came to his senses, she reluctantly left the room closing the door behind her.

Freya unhurriedly stood up from the bed still not making any eye contact with him, the disgust and resentment growling in his eyes ripped her heart already, she had no energy left to suffer that treacherous heartbreak once again. Leonard sighed heavily before staring at Freya's wrenched frame, her swollen doe eyes and trembling frame kind of disturbed him but shaking away his thoughts he started.

"Look Freya, I don't understand why are you still holding onto that engagement which happened when we both were kids, I have already moved on it will be better if you end this engagement with your consent." Freya felt a sharp needle scratching her chest hearing his brutal words.

Steadily raising her bloodshot eyes she looked at him trying to find any kind of soft and gentle emotions in his eyes for her but nothing, all she saw was emptiness and disgust. Why was he so disgusted with her? He used to hug her, kiss her forehead and cradle her at every chance he used get then what has changed?

Freya remembered how he took her name, he never called her by her name. She was used to hearing different kinds of pet names from him. Seems like he really had forgotten her, and moved on while she was holding onto his memories for more than 10 years.

"W-why?" She let out as another train of tears escaped her eyes making Leonard clench his sharp jaw.

"I waited for you, for the past ten years I waited for you," Leonard finally chuckled shaking his head.

" And who told you to do so? Did I?" Freya bit her inner cheek nodding her head.

"You did, y-you told me to wait for you." Leo glared at her in disbelief.

"For fuck's sake woman! I was a fucking teenager and you were a kid, a fucking child, apart from being classless are you fucking idiot too! " He growled in anger making her flinch in horror taking a step back and dropping her head down.

No one had ever raised their voice at her, when her uncle used to talk to her even in a slightly raised voice she used to cry for days. She was always sensitive to loud voices and Leo knew this yet he yelled at her, and he didn't look remorseful even after seeing her scared frame.

He stepped near her making the back of her knees touch the bed as he towered over her, she was so scared of him that she didn't dare to look up at him. He was dreading her in the way that she never thought her Leo could ever do. He wasn't behaving like the man she gave her heart to.

"Listen to me very carefully, Freya." His voice wasn't anywhere near comforting or soft, rather it was threatening and dark.

"I don't want this engagement, I don't love you, heck I don't even like you. You're not of my standard and dad has put a condition that only you can end this fucking sham of engagement so it will be better if the first thing you would do in the morning was to end this engagement otherwise I swear, " She gasped out widening her eyes when he pinched her chin with his two fingers and jerked her face up.

Tears stung her eyes as pain shot up to her flesh, her red blue eyes met with his uncompassionate amber ones, "You will see the worst of me!" With that, he roughly threw her face away before wiping his fingers with his pants like she was some kind of dirt.

Shooting a last glance at her he walked out of her room and Freya fell on the bed bursting out in loud sobs, she scooted further into the corner of the bed hugging her knees to her chest in sorrow and pain. Her mind kept on replaying the way he shouted at her, held her, and the way he threatened her while her heart refused to believe this bitter truth.

No, her Leo couldn't touch her like that, he couldn't yell at her when he knew she never liked being shouted at, he couldn't do that but he did. Her mind again reminded her that he did. He did manhandle her, growled at her, and without any kind of remorse he looked beyond disgusted by her.

He did everything no one ever dared to do with her, he did the things she never thought he would ever be capable of doing. She didn't even notice when sleep took over her and the high fever embraced her petite body until her aunt came with her dinner.

She touched her daughter's forehead only to gasp out in terror, Freya was burning. Her anger shot up and she knew Freya's condition wasn't this bad until she had a conversation with Leonard. She needed to confront her son, this innocent angel had waited her whole life for him, and he couldn't simply discard her like this.

After calling the doctor and giving her medicine, Sofia went to the room where Leo and his girlfriend were residing even though Ajax strictly told his stubborn son to get the girl to stay in another room but the obstinate man refused it dragging Janet into his room infuriating Ajax to no end.

"Who is it?" Janet's voice entered Sofia's ears as she unlatched the door. Sofia's eyes widened in shock finding Janet cladded in a thin nighty with a silk robe hung over her shoulders.

Sofia was left speechless seeing the shameless behavior of this girl, even though her son and this girl were a couple but this house had some rules and the women of this house always had to wear decent clothes while meeting elders. She didn't care how this girl comes in front of her son but the fact that she appeared in such a vulgar dress in front of his mother disgusted Sofia. Thank goodness it was her and not Ajax otherwise he would have created havoc in the mid of the night.

"Mom, come inside," Leo said appearing from Janet's behind making Sofia ignore the girl and walked near her son with a resented gaze.

Her eyes moved all over the room finding the whole place filled with smell of alcohol and cigarettes, Ajax as well used to drink a lot but with time his drinking habit lessened a lot but seemed like Leonard has caught this venomous habit from his father. The place that Freya cleaned and took care of with her everything looked beyond disgusting and messed up now. Her efforts were discarded just like her heart by him. Ignoring the toxic surroundings his Sofia glared at him.

"What did you do that poor girl?" Leo rolled his eyes in irritation.

"From the time I arrived all dad and you are asking me is about her, only fucking her, you didn't even ask about my well-being!" Sofia suddenly felt the urge to slap him.

"Mind your tongue in front of your mother Leonard! And answer my question what did you do to her? " Leo clenched his jaw.

"I asked her to end this engagement with her consent that's it!" Sofia chuckled.

"That's it? Then how she got such a high fever after you met her? That poor girl was writhing in pain after you left her!" Leo stared at his mother with a blank gaze, he felt a little bad for scaring her so much but remembering how he was tied up with her without his consent his resentment came back for her.

"I don't care, she can die for all ---" Leo's eyes froze followed by a horrified gasp coming from Janet as a loud sound of the slap echoed in the vacant room.

His mother slapped him, and for the first time, she raised her hands at him.

He slowly turned his head to his burning mother who had tears in her eyes now, she hit him, her son for what? For that nobody. For such a fucking worthless girl she slapped her one and only son.

"This is not what I taught you, Leo, I didn't teach you to disrespect, humiliate others, or be this ruthlessly towards someone who was innocent in all of this." Leo clenched his hands into tight fists, his mind was hammering with only a few words, all because of her!

"It was me and your father who told her again and again that she belonged to you, that she's your fiance. Not even once she disobeyed us or even do anything that could bring shame to us but today you did. By bringing another girl to replace her, you made me and your father ashamed of ourselves that we kept on teaching her that she's yours but couldn't do the same with you. I can't even look into her eyes anymore." She cried palming her forehead in agitation remembering Freya's crying face.

"Mom," Whispered Leo trying to touch his mother's shoulder feeling pained after seeing her crying so much, he didn't want everything to turn out to be like this, he thought they were his parents and would eventually support him but all they were doing was to think and talk about that orphan girl.

"Don't!" His heart pained when his mother didn't let him touch her and stepped away from him. She wiped her tears shooting a disgusting look at Janet who was standing beside the door.

"You want to end this engagement, I will talk to my poor daughter, I am sure it will hurt her a lot but as always she will listen to me because she's not you." With that, she turned to walk out of the room before pausing a bit and staring at Janet.

"If you want to be a part of this family you better start following the rules of this house, I will not remind you again but remember to never come in front of the elders in such a disgusting dressing!" Shooting a last glare at Janet she walked out of the room making the young girl scoff in disbelief.

"What's wrong with my dress?" She questioned closing the door shut and facing the enraged man.

"Leo, why is your mom such a bi---" Leo's eyes glared at her the moment she opened her mouth to curse his mother.

"Janet!" She raised her arms in defensive mode.

"Relax," Mumbling the word she took a seat on the sofa and resumed drinking the alcohol while Leonard gazed at the floor with a thoughtful look.

She better end this engagement otherwise he wouldn't let her live in peace!
