"Hi! I'd like a ticket for Country F tomorrow." Lily Brown held her phone in one hand while typing with the other.
After staying at home for so long, she decided to have fun outside. However, her spirits were dampened as soon as she boarded the plane.
Being slightly airsick, she felt awful all the way. When she deplaned, it was as if the world had turned upside down.
She staggered as she looked for her suitcase. Then, she walked toward the exit with the suitcase while holding a small cloth bag containing her ID card, passport, and bank card. She had planned to put the cloth bag into her backpack, but she forgot it.
As an old saying went, the concern of a thief was more dreadful than his action. At this moment, a thief had fixed his target at this dizzy woman who was "showing off" her wealth.
When she came to somewhere less crowded, a man approached her from behind and snatched her bag in an instant.
"Ah, hey!" Anxious, Lily dragged her suitcase and tried to catch up with him.
Being a homebody, she was really not good at sports. So soon, she ran out of puff.
But she had no other choices – if she didn't get her bag back, she would be homeless off the streets and couldn't fly back to her own country.
Hurriedly, she ran after that man while shouting in her native language, "Thief!" Probably, she had forgotten she was abroad.
As she stumbled ahead, she didn't pay attention to anything around her. Suddenly, she bumped into a man and fell onto the ground directly.
"Thief! Thief..." She sat on the ground and grabbed the man who she had run into by his pants.
After shouting for a while, she looked up, planning to ask this man for help. But the next second, she was totally stunned by what she saw. What a man had she bumped into?!
Being always indoorsy, she hadn't seen many men except for those fresh meats on online TV. At this moment, she was utterly conquered by this man's handsomeness.
With a frown, the man felt an impulse to kick her away. But seeing her helpless pale face, he tried to restrain his anger.
"Get away." Eric Smith looked down at Lily with displeasure, but kicking her away would make him appear like a bully.
There were so many people in the airport; he didn't want to be the focus of public attention.
Lily heard what he said clearly – he spoke the same language as her! She had thought he was a native in Country F.
"Please help me..." She still sat there without any intention to get up.
After all, she couldn't catch up with that thief and didn't know where the police station was. This man was her only hope.
"It has nothing to do with me," Eric replied in a cold voice as he moved to a side.
Lily was surprised by his indifference. Wasn't it said that the people in Country F were very hospitable? What a slap in the face!
"You..." She stared at him with uncontrollable anger.
The man was in an absolutely domineering manner as he looked down at her coldly.
"I'll say it again. Get away." Eric stared at the girl grasping his pants. If he hadn't heard her speak his language, he would have kicked her off.
Being a multiracial man of Country F and Country Z, he had an angelic face and a proud body shape envied by all men.
He came to the airport just because of his troublesome mother, who had gone to Country Z to visit her family on a whim. The problem was that it wasn't a private flight.
Forced by his father, he could only come here to pick his mother up. Thinking of his mother and this clingy girl, he, once again, conceived women as annoyances.
Discouraged by his unfriendly face, Lily wanted to leave to prove her backbone. But reality didn't allow her to do so, or she would definitely become a wanderer on the streets. In a word, she couldn't let this man go easily.
Quickly, she rose to her feet, but she lost her balance and took a stumble.
Subconsciously, Eric gave her a hand. When she regained her footing, he drew back his hand immediately.
"Sir, both my passport and ID card have been stolen. I hope you can help me." Lily slowed her speech and said in a voice that she thought was lovely and enchanting.
But Eric didn't want to waste time on her, ready to leave directly. He planned to take his mother home right away because he was very busy.
Seeing that, Lily became panicked. She had thought he would help her, but he didn't have such an intention at all.
Hurriedly, she grabbed his sleeve. "Sir, could you just take me to the police station? I don't have any money. Please..."
Eric looked down at her pitiful face with tears welling up in her eyes, and somehow, he nodded.
Elated, Lily dragged up her suitcase and adjusted the shoulder straps of her backpack, following him just like his little meek wife.
Then, she went with him deep into the airport. Curious as she was, she didn't ask anything. She thought he might be going to pick somebody up.
Lily was right. While Eric was bothered by Lily, his mother had been there waiting for him.
Seeing a girl behind Eric from a distance, Kate Smith couldn't help the excitement in her heart.
When they came nearer, Kate gave Lily an overly warm hug. Her tone was full of pleasure. "Son, when did you get this girlfriend? Why don't you help her carry the luggage? You should be like a gentleman."
Eric put a hand on his forehead helplessly. How could he forget that her mother was easily fascinated by lovely girls, especially those from Country Z?
"First, she's not my girlfriend. Second, I just met her a dozen minutes ago and have no duty to help her. Third, I'll drive her to the police station after a while. I don't want to hear any opposing views." With his hands in his pockets, he took on an unsympathetic manner.
Kate was displeased at once. How could a man send a girl to the police station at their first meeting?
Now that he let this girl follow him, she couldn't be someone evil. If so, why did he send her to the police station?
"You can't drive her to the police station. I'll take her home!" Kate took Lily's arm and headed for the exit straight away.
Watching the two women's backs, Eric heaved a long sigh. He really couldn't understand how his father tolerated a woman like his mother. But one thing was for sure – there was true love between them.
"What's your name? Why does my son want to send you to the police station?" Kate threw her arm around Lily's shoulders as they walked out of the airport.
"Well, I'm Lily Brown. I asked your son to do so because my passport and ID card were stolen as soon as I got off the plane. Without these things, I can't live in a hotel here." Lily felt uneasy about the woman's enthusiasm. After all, they had just met.
Hearing that, Kate became more determined not to let Eric drive this girl to the police. Lily was alone in a foreign country and had even confronted a theft; how pitiful she was!
Eric just followed them quietly and listened to their conversation.
"Son, don't send her to the police. We should take her home and help her find her things. Before that, she'll live in our home!" Kate suddenly turned around and said in a tone that couldn't be retorted.
Lily didn't want to make it hard for Eric and waved her hands hastily. "No, thanks! Just send me to the police station. They will help me with this."
Lily was not an unreasonable girl. Besides, she had just known them and didn't dare to go with strangers.
"Lily, just ignore him. He's always poker-faced, but we're not bad people. So don't worry. Besides, you can't stay in the police station all these days, right? Just follow me to my house." Kate liked this girl, who matched her son very well, at the very first sight.
When they stood together, Kate had felt that they would be a perfect couple, for no reason.
Sometimes, fate brought two people together when they didn't even realize it.
Kate's help made Lily feel warm inside. But she was downhearted enough about losing important things abroad, for which she couldn't do anything, and she would be despaired if she met any other bad people.
If she had stayed at home as usual, she wouldn't have confronted such things. At this moment, she was more than regretful of her decision.
Just when she wanted to decline Kate's offer, Eric spoke.
"What are you worried about? I don't mind taking in a girl, though she's troublesome." he said to her.
Obviously, he allowed her to go home with them.
"I..." When she wanted to say something, she was dragged into the car instantly.
Actually, she really wanted to reject their help!
If they were bad people, what should she do then? She was still a pure virgin! Although she wasn't fluent in the local language, she would be at least safe in the police station. Even if she was driven back to her own country, she would take it as a blessing.
She wanted to jump off the car, but somehow, her feet didn't obey her.
Life was really not in her control!
When the car was about to start, she suddenly yelled, for she remembered something important.
