Unexpected Love

She doesn't seem to understand the attitude he makes. She sighed due to the irritable feeling she feels. "Argh! Why does he act as if he cares for me and why does he makes me feel like as if I'm nothing!" she whispered unto herself.

Grace meant about JL, the man of her dreams. She met JL Cortez on social media. JL's appearance is five feet and nine inches tall and he has Chinese-like eyes but in Grace's eyes, he's masculine, especially he looks like Daniel Padilla, a Filipino Actor in the Philippines. He's kind, a young lad who helps household chores, that's why he knows how to cook, he helps his parents' on their business, he takes care of his siblings.

"What a bipolar person..." she whispers and bow her head on her study table at her bedroom.

Grace can't remember the day it was started, all she knew is that she just confirmed every friend requests she received on her FACEBOOK account, at first; she and JL just know each other then she found out, they were acquainted by JL's classmate, one of her best friends. She sit up straight and look at her desktop where she left it open with JL's FACEBOOK profile. She stretched out her right arm and reached the face of his profile picture.

She stopped on what she was doing when she heard her phone. She sighed. She picked up her phone and opened the text message without looking who the texted her.

"Hi." that's was on the screen.

She was curious when she saw it, unregistered number. She politely asked and she was shock yet her shocked melt into a smile when she knew who sent the message. It's JL, her man of her dreams. JL asked basic questions and Grace answered all of his questions politely although she can feel that JL wasn't in the mood but still, she's excited. She stuck on what she was doing when she heard someone opened the door of her room. She immediately clicks the Google on the other tab she had on the monitor. 'That was close...'

She sighed. Whenever she remember those things she can't helped but to smile on her own then laugh when she remember the silly things she does to keep it a secret yet now, she can't helped but to cry because it hits her so much when JL send her a message just to be the way they are and just level-up as best friends.

"I want us to be best of friends." She frowned after she read the message from JL.

Grace was stunned, she was stuck looking on her phone. The next thing she knew was she was wiping her endless tears on her face. Grace can't believe what she had received from JL. She gathered all her strength and courage to ask why.

"I don't want to be hurt once again and I can't feel your love for me." he answered.

She felt her room became a small box; the air she was breathing became thin. She also felt her sight became blank for a while. Now, she was catching her breath. 'How can these things happen when all I do is to make an effort just to make him assure how much I love him whenever we see each other?' she whispers as she kept on wiping her tears.

It makes her sad but all she can do is nothing but to keep quiet, enough of the argument. She's tired of having an argument with him. She was worried about her exam for tomorrow. She still can't review although she calm down a bit yet her nerves still on the same position, still on shock that's why she can't still breathe normally. Grace has an aneurysm, which she inherits on her father's side. Her grandfather died on this kind of disease, which consisted of life threatening condition, if neglected.

After her exam that day, they accidentally met each other outside her school. Their eyes met, they were both frozen. Grace's heart palpitating due to nervously unexpected meeting, she remember that she forgot to take her medicine last night. She begun to feel unwell, her eyesight became blur yet when her adrenaline rush take her feet start running when she saw that a motorcycle wants to bump JL. She ran as fast as she can though she wasn't feeling good. When she finally stepped near JL, she pushed him aside.

Grace was stunned when she saw herself lying on the floor with some blood on her head. She starts to panic when there were people who was around her and JL. She kept on convincing herself that she was just dreaming while calling his name. She got her limit and lost her patience, she went right in front of JL and slapped him but on her shock, her hand just passed through his face. She kept on trying but nothing happened.

All she want is to save him, she doesn't have any regrets when she realize that even though she kept on trying to slap JL, she doesn't feel any tiredness, she doesn't feel anything. However, she's still in shock, she went along the ambulance with JL. She observed him and all she can see on his facial expression is blank. She can't read his eyes, she can't read what's on his mind and what is he thinking right now. All she can see is expressionless face of him. They finally reached the hospital, the doctor and nurses hurriedly set hospital apparatus on her face and body when she got inside of the operating room. She sat down on the chair where JL was in front of her walking back and forth that made her dizzy while following him from left to right. Grace just followed him using her eyes. She's bored being a ghost. She sighed. She kept on trying to talk to him; she even walked with him while trying to tap his shoulder. She saw her family rushing towards JL. The eyes of her worried mother and the shivering hands of her sisters didn't escape on her sight. She tried to hugged them but she just passed through them, she screamed due to frustration, she's almost yelling in front of her mother yet they can't hear her, they can't see her. She suddenly stopped when the doctor of the operating room popped out the door. She felt her legs weakened after she heard what the doctor said.

"She's stable now but we still have to monitor her. She's at the Intensive Care Unit; we'll wait for her to wake-up."

She's thankful that she's not died yet its smashing her heart whenever she saw her family cries. After twelve hours of trying to come back on her body and also talking on JL, the doctor declared she's in comatose. It almost felt her body freeze; she's stunned of what she heard. Her family went out and decided to go home. She saw her elder sister; Mjay talked to JL and gave a piece of paper while she followed her mother and her younger sister, Mariela walking the hallway of the hospital. She came back inside the room where she was, and there she saw JL, holding her hand and murmuring something, he passed through her and went out the room. She followed him and he saw him brought a drink. She didn't came near when she saw him and her elder sister walking, she heard a phone ringing. She observed JL while answering his phone call. She saw his disagreement, disappointment expression, then sigh and the ups and downs of his shoulder. He walked towards her then stopped and turned around facing her.

"I'll be back tomorrow." he whispered.

Although she knew that she's an apparition, she can say that she's blushing. She followed him. "JL." she almost whispered. She was overwhelmed when JL turned around on her direction. When she saw that JL go home, she almost jumped due to happiness. She'll see JL's sisters, CP and PC. She can't help but to feel the excitement to meet them.

She saw his parents. "Nice to finally meet you." she said yet when she realized that she wasn't been seen her excitement lowered.

She hurriedly went inside the house before JL and sat down on the sofa. When JL got inside she saw his little sisters warmly welcomed him as if he wasn't home yesterday. She saw him hugged his sisters and made a fake smile to hide something that she also doesn't know. She also saw JC, next to JL then she smiled when she heard JL.

"Grow up faster." it was almost whisper yet that didn't escaped from her ears.

She just watch them eating, she doesn't feel any hunger yet she wants to eat with them but all she can do is to sit down on a yard distance table in front of JL who feeds his younger sister, Princess Criscel. She can't help to smile while watching him.

The next thing that JL knew, he was sitting on the floor Grace was right in front of him lying down on the ground. All he can see clearly was Grace lay aside unconsciously with some blood on her head. He doesn't know what to do, he can hear noises yet it wasn't clear as he can clearly hear was his heart beat. His body shivers, he can't explain his feelings, he wants to shout to ease the nervousness he feel, he wants to punch himself from being statue just by looking at the girl whom just risks herself just to save him.

A few moments ago, he heard some serene of an ambulance. He was still in shock. He was outside the operating room, walking back and fort. Grace's family was already contact yet still they aren't coming. He doesn't know how to explain how the things happened in just a blink of an eye. He, himself can't even explain why and how did everything happened. All he knew was he was saved and that's all clear on his mind right now.

'I want to ask her, I hope that she's okay.' he said unto himself.

A middle-aged woman asked him, he was stunned when he finally met Grace's family. He was sweating although the whole hospital is air-conditioned. He doesn't know how to start and what would he'll say. He heard the operating room's door open, he slightly sigh. He felt he was saved once again, he thought he'll be going to faint earlier.

"Where is the family of the patient?" the doctor asked.

Grace's mother faced the doctor asked few questions with worried face and trembling voice. He heard some gasped then he heard the middle-aged woman cried while the two young women embraced the old woman. He was stunned when he discovered that Grace was at the Intensive Care Unit, although she was saved from the critical condition and she's stable now, still the doctors can't say when she will wake up. The doctor said after twenty-four hours when the patient is still unconscious, they'll declare she's on comatose, that reality chilled him. He finally has the courage to introduce himself unto her family. At first, he doesn't know how to start and what was the nice word that would be appropriate to say unto the family of the patient who's at the comatose stage. He let the family of Grace enter the I.C.U. first. He just watch outside, he decided to call his parents to make them know what happened unto him and he let them know that he will not go home. He saw Grace's family went outside, her mother has its red eyes and swelling due to tears while her siblings has red nose and eyelids due to tears also.

"Excuse me." said the other girl; he doesn't know how to react. All he did is to stare at the girl. "Please, look for her for awhile. We'll just go home to get some things we need. If there's an emergency, here." she said and she gave him a piece of paper consists of numbers. He just nod and watched them leave.
