Unconsummated Fire

Emily's POV.

Today is a very special day in my life, after all the stress and the sleepless nights it all was all over. I said to myself.

I was going to submit my project work and then hurrah!! it will finally be done. I walked inside campus which was crowded with my classmates everywhere. I was in a very good mood as I jumped and tiptoed to find my friends among the crowd. I sighted them among the crowd talking to a knight in shining armor. He was gorgeous actually but I wasn't someone to like someone in first sight but this time I knew I did even though I was far away from them.

I got closer to Frank and tapped him on his shoulder since he was not facing my direction, he turned to look at me but not with his usual smile. But what amazed me was that the handsome stranger, he couldn't take his eyes off me even though I was staring right back at him. I looked at my dress to check if something was wrong with my dress code but saw nothing wrong. And also saw that his attention was particularly on my face so I awkwardly said,

"Hi"

He was still absentminded, so Enoch my other friend saw what was happening and instinctively shoved his hand and said,

"I think she is speaking to you. "

He looked back at me and asked

"Is that right?"

I nodded and the stranger looked into my eyes once more before apologizing,

"I'm sorry I was lost for a moment, my name is Eddie Rockson. Once again I'm sorry. "

"That's okay no crime committed. My name is...." I was saying.

"Emily Smith, I know your name remember? I only mentioned yours because I thought it had escaped you. How have you been all this while?" inquired.

"You know my name? how? oh maybe my my friends mentioned me to you. " I queried.

He shook his head slowly and affirmed,

"No they hadn't, I know you and you know me. Why is it that...It's okay if you don't recognize me. "

He turned towards the boys and said,

"I'm sorry that I'm leaving you hanging but I have somewhere to be. See you at the graduation. "

He turned and left with me staring at his back until he finally disappeared.

"Well that was weird, how the heck did he know my name?" I asked no one in particular.

They also shrugged but Enoch surprised me when he said,

"You really do not know the school president? Where have you been all these whole years? you just passed through the school just like that. All you know how to do is to study and study. What's the point anyway? you will know it without being thought or studying. " Enoch pointed out.

"Do you blame me? I am restricted okay? knowing what happens in the school will only lure me to engage in it and you know I can't. " I said looking down at my toes.

"Well restricted lady, can we go and submit our work now? You didn't even attend the party I organized. " said Enoch with dissatisfaction.

"You know how it is, why are you angry now? I just couldn't come, my dad wouldn't go to sleep even when it was two o'clock last night. I'm sorry okay?" I said looking pitiful.

"Why all the restrictions anyway? you are no child. " Enoch lamented.

Frank wasn't the one to ask questions when it came to my father. But this time he was also angry.

"I know but I'm his only child, he is just too careful for my own good. Anyway how did the work go for you?" I added smiling.

They just ignored me and walked ahead. I guess this time I got some hearts broken, I trotted behind them as we went to the office.

Eddie's POV

'Was that really Emily? why doesn't she recognize me? I mean its been four years but that shouldn't make her forget someone she claimed she loved so much, she may have changed in stature but I could still recognize her from miles. Have I changed so much?' I thought.

I was in my hall room walking around as I contemplated about the issue. But no matter what I thought, I wasn't getting anywhere with my questions until I saw Matt passing by the room. When he saw that my door was opened, he came back just as I was about calling him.

He looked from my head to toes and queried,

"Hey what's up? you look pressured, this school will kill you before you know it. Don't think too much about it after all you are going to leave this school behind in a weeks time. "

"It's not the school man, it's about something else. " I quipped i n irritated.

"Well what's it then? I don't know you for women problems, they've never been your problem. Except that particular one you've been searching for. " he urged.

"You are right except for the one I had being looking for. And she is the reason for my troubled heart now. " I confessed.

"I know you will find her one day, that's if you are meant to be. " he affirmed.

"I've found her and that too right here on campus. She has been right under my nose and I didn't know. And she doesn't recognize me now, what's more painful than this?" I questioned.

He looked at me with his mouth gaped but suddenly shook his head and said,

"Maybe you've gotten the wrong person, she might not be the one you think she is. Are you having day dreams about her now?"

"No I'm not wrong, she answered to the name I called her. And she hasn't changed that much you know?" I insisted.

"Okay then let's go and find her and introduce yourself properly if she still denies she knows you then we will know what to do next. Or you can pretend you were mistaken before and let it flow. Maybe you will find out about the reason for her denial then. " he countered.

'Okay let it flow, but what if she doesn't want to see me anymore? what if she was pretending so she can escape once again? But it was now or never, what if I don't see her anymore? I've got to take the chance. ' I thought.

"Let's go find the love of my life. " I said boldly.

"How cheeky, the love of your life indeed. I can't wait to meet this woman. " he ranted.

We got out of the room in search of her and made our way to her department. Because we believed since she was submitting her work, we would find her there.

We got to the department and we were told they had just left and that we should check the faculty head office and that maybe we would find them there.

The world around me became smaller and my heart beat accelerated. I felt like I had ran a ten kilometers race in a few minutes and every second that passed by felt like eternity and that I was loosing her through it.

Emily's Continues.

I got out of the room and my eyes met his once again, my heart ache terribly at the sight of him but I had no idea as to why.

'Did I know him from before as he proclaimed? if not then why am I feeling downtrodden and at the same happy to see him again?' I wondered.

"Hi once again I... I ..." said the president trying to form words.

"He came to see you again, your first meeting wasn't formidable so he came to make it fate and unforgettable. " put in an unknown guy beside him.

Eddie glared at him and turned his attention to me. But then only smiled and scratched his head still unable to form words. So I spoke to him,

"The president is lost of words in front of a commoner I should be pretty special huh?" I joked.

"Yes you are trust me, Ed why are you not speaking man?" asked the guy beside him.

"I wanted to say something very much but I ended up not knowing what to say anymore. Emily it's an honor meeting you once again, I wouldn't want to speak to you about whatever I thought I knew about you anymore. Emily how about you make me your friend?" he finally broke the spell casted on him.

Before I could respond, Enoch and Frank stepped out of the office and Frank asked,

"Who wants to be the others friend?"

"It's me, Emily what do you have to say about this?" Eddie insisted.

"Erm...I think you should forget about been friends with her, she doesn't make...." I caught him off and agreed.

"I will be your friend but let's do this again, my name is Emily Kelvin Smith and you are?"

His face contorted in confusion but he soon recovered and said,

"My name is Eddie Rockson, it's nice meeting you can I get your number?"

"Yes sure. " I agreed and gave my card to him, the one I never get to use.

My friends looked at me in bewilderment and Enoch had his mouth gaped so I kept my hand and it and asked,

"What's so surprising here?"

"I guess you already know what is wrong here, I guess the president must have bewitched you for you to be acting this way. " said Enoch the talker.

"I'm just trying to be friendly that's all. " I said smiling.

"Okay we are done here, let's get going. " said Frank.

We got out of the place making our way out of campus and I bid them goodbye but not after I inquired about the other guy with Eddie. I asked his name and he said he was called Matthew. They had insisted that I attended the graduation congregation and I promised them I would try all I could to make it. I took a taxi to where my convoy was waiting for me. It might surprise you but don't be after all I was the richest man in the country's daughter. He could do all he could to protect me and if it was I in one car with two to three bodyguards and the others in other cars, he would do more trust me.
