Chapter 1 A coincidence

Eleanor had already found it difficult to focus on anything in the art gallery as her phone seemed to burn in her hands with the unsettling messages she was receiving, her thoughts were focused on the messages when a bass-tone voice broke through her agony. "Lucas Sinclair, it's so lovely you could join me for the opening of the new gallery," the voice said.

Eleanor's gaze was fixed on her phone, as she didn't care to look at the person addressing her husband. "It's my pleasure, Sebastian. It's nice having you as my business partner," she heard as her husband paused, tapping her to his attention. "Please, meet my wife, Eleanor."

Eleanor took a deep breath as she lifted her gaze from the phone preparing to plaster a fake smile on her face. But as she looked up at the godlike figure standing in front of her, The smile that had once been effortlessly plastered on her face now changed to a pale complexion that seemed to be unconsciously visible.

Her legs trembled beneath her, threatening to buckle at any moment, as her eyes focused on him, her memory jolted back to her previous life like never before. She stared up at Sebastian, her one-night stand from four years ago, and couldn't quite process anything at all.

"Are you okay, honey?" she felt Lucas's hands on her elbow, supporting her as she tried to gain her composure. "Yes, I'm fine, dear,"

she watched as Sebastian gestured to kiss her on the cheek as a greeting of formality. "You still look gorgeous as ever, grazioso," he whispered in her ears ending his sentence in Italian. His voice sent cold shivers down her spine as she unconsciously felt aroused and angry at the touch of his lips on her cheek.

"My wife here has always been a fan of your art, Sebastian," Lucas said, smiling at her. "Why don't you do her the honor of showing her around some of your art pieces while I take this call?" He excused himself, leaving Eleanor feeling like her only protection had slipped away.

"You planned this, right?" she accused immediately, her voice low and furious. "You knew all along I was Lucas's wife, so you became friends with him. You bastard." She glanced around, subconsciously checking if any of the other guests were listening to her gruesome conversation.

Sebastian scoffed, placing his hands on her back, and leading her away to view the other paintings. "Well, it's nice to know you're not thrilled to see me after the passionate night we had together four years ago. You chose to run away without any warning."

Eleanor jerked his hands from her back, her memories of that night still fresh in her mind. She had felt so connected to him as they shared a bed, only to wake up and decide it was a mistake. "And I came back," she paused, her voice betraying how resoundingly she had wanted to sound. "Alright!, I came back only to hear your hideous words about me sprouting out of that mouth of yours. And now you show up in my life when I'm already happily married. Be for real, Sebastian. God damn it."

Sebastian's eyes darkened, his lips audibly voicing out a curse. "You left me." His voice was barely a whisper, and Eleanor could have sworn she felt him sounding apologetic, but she was far too angry to care.

"I didn't come into your life to ruin anything, Eleanor," he said, gazing deeply at her with his Auburn blue eyes. "I'm just your husband's friend, nothing else, nothing more." He focused his gaze back on an eloquent painting, his brow furrowed. "It's not like I quite remember anything about that night at all. It was just a basic one-night stand." His tone was nonchalant and calm.

she watched as he strolled away from her, hands in his pocket, shoulders broadened, looking exquisite in his well-tailored suit. Her eyes stung with tears, her breath unstable as his words hit her right in her chest. She searched frantically for her husband as she walked towards his side. "Can we leave now, Lucas?" she practically begged

"What's wrong", He looked at her worriedly but she didn't respond, she didn't have any resounding reason why she wanted to leave apart from not wanting to see Sebastian ever again

"Why don't you wait for me outside? Taylor will be waiting outside to pick you up, It doesn't seem right to leave the guests without saying my farewell. I'll be with you shortly."

With that, he kissed her on the cheek and left in a hurry, leaving Eleanor devastated. She grasped courage as she walked out of the art gallery, her head held up high, and her dress graciously swaying with her hips.

The entrance of the art gallery was nestled between two larger buildings on a dimly lit, deserted street in New York City. The gallery's large doors and broad bodyguards signed a hint at an exclusive, invitation-only establishment, The quiet, dark road seemed to give her some sort of comfort

She called the supposed driver, Taylor to come pick her up at the front of the event as she decided to take a stroll down the quiet road of New York to clear her head.

As she walked out into the chill of the night air, the faint hum of the city in the distance only added to the sense of aloneness she felt. The deserted street stretched out before her like a private walk, leading her deeper into the night, gazing up at the bright, beautiful night sky, her mind drifted to the last statement Sebastian made about her, and she felt a strange pain lingering in her heart, As she realized she was about a few meters from the art gallery she decided to go back before her driver got there.

She stopped in her tracks as her phone buzzed with the message from an unknown number that had been bothering her earlier

As She opens the message, her face turns into a mixture of fear and confusion, her hands fidgeting as she glances down at a photo of herself taken just seconds ago, she reads the caption that came along with the message "You look gorgeous, Elle".

Gazing at the screen in disbelief, she looked up searching for who had sent the message, as she was about to run back to the gallery in panic

A figure appeared from the darkness wearing a hoodie, his face lit up by the glow of a nearby streetlamp. She staggers back as the figure keeps advancing toward her, his features becoming clearer with each step.

Eleanor's eyes widen as she tries to figure out who the masked figure is, her mind racing with confusion. The masked figure's face was twisted into a mischievous smirk, his eyes glistening with a threatening look that made her blood run cold. Her phone slips from her trembling hands as she stares at him in horror.

"Marcus?!!" she exclaimed, her voice trembling with fear, Her feet rooted to the spot

The figure takes a step closer, its smirk growing wider. "Yes," it says in a low, menacing tone, "Did you miss me, Elle?"

Chapter 2 Threat

Marcus had steadily been watching the gallery with an unblinking gaze, his eyes burning with intensity as he waited for Eleanor to come out. He had been tracking her for days, his anger steaming like a pot about to overboil. The fact that she was already married made him angrier as he felt betrayed. She couldn't even wait for him to get out of jail, he thought, his mind fuming with resentment. It was all her fault; if it wasn't for her all this wouldn't have happened and he was going to make her pay.

As she stepped out of the gallery, alone and unsuspecting, Marcus's eyes watched her. Her short blue dress hugged her curves, and her neatly packed hair made her look breathtaking. He watched, mesmerized, as she made a phone call and began walking down the side of the road. He followed her, his footsteps silent on the opposite side of the street.

When she stopped to stare at the message he had sent her, He watched as she panicked looking around at where the message came from

Marcus emerged from the shadows, his presence making her step back in horror.

"Eleanor, wait," Marcus's voice was low, filled with a mixture of longing and frustration. He moved swiftly, pinning her to the wall before she could react. "I missed you, Elle, he murmured, his breath hot against her ear.

He leaned in, trying to kiss her, but Eleanor turned her face away, her body stiffening in resistance.

"Get off me, Marcus," she hissed, pushing against his chest. But Marcus's grip tightened, his expression darkening.

"Why are you doing this?" she demanded, her voice trembling with a mix of fear and anger.

"Because I love you," Marcus replied, his eyes flashing with a dangerous intensity. "I can't stand the thought of you with anyone else." His hands moved to her wrists, pinning them above her head as he pressed his body closer to hers.

"You're hurting me", Eleanor gasped, struggling against

His hold, his grip strong. "Let go of me, Marcus!" she struggled, but his fingers only dug deeper into her skin.

Marcus's voice was low and menacing, sending chills down her spine. "What is it, Ella? Are you disgusted by me, is that why you're acting like this, You think you can run from the secrets we both share?" His words dripped with anger, his eyes gleaming with fury.

Eleanor tried to sound brave, but her voice trembled, and her heart raced with fear. Her mind raced with memories she thought she had long buried.

Marcus's laughter was a cold, sly sound. "You'll never be free from me, Elle. I know all your damn secrets, and I'll use them to drag you back down into the darkness with me." He pulled her hair, his grip tight, and she winced in pain. "Do you understand me?"

As she tried to free herself, Marcus felt her trembling in his grip. Her hands shook, and her eyes teared up. "Now come with me," he growled, pulling her with a strong force. Tears poured down her cheek as she screamed for help, struggling and fighting back.

Suddenly, a punch landed squarely on his face, and Marcus stumbled back, releasing his grip on her. He staggered, trying to regain his composure, and stared confused at the tall figure who had punched him.

As the figure tried to hit him again, Marcus braced for impact but smirked as Eleanor stopped the punch. He touched his bleeding lips and looked back at her, then at the man, with anger and annoyance. He wagged his fingers at her, his laughter echoing through the dark streets of New York. "This isn't over yet, Elle," he called out, his voice dripping with spite. "You can't hide from me forever. "And when I find you, you'll wish you had never crossed me".

Eleanor gasped, tears streaming down her face, as Sebastian grabbed her tightly, his jaw clenched in anger, his eyes blazing.

Eleanor shuddered, her heart racing with fear, She hugged Sebastian tightly, too frightened to think straight, her body trembling in his as she tried to find comfort in his masculine figure.

"Who was he?" She watched as Sebastian narrowed his eyes as he lifted her chin to meet his gaze, his eyes searching hers. "And what business does he have with you, Eleanor".

Eleanor jolted back into reality, shifting a few inches away from him. She straightened her dark blue dress and cleared her throat. "Thank you, Mr. Anderson, for your assistance earlier, But I don't think any of my business concerns you." She paused, her voice firm.

"Furthermore, I'd rather not be seen around the likes of you. I must take my leave now."

She tried to pull away from him, but he pulled her back into his embrace, her chest pressed against his, his grip firm on her back

"I insist on walking you back to the gallery," he said, his breath hot in her ear. "I won't be okay if anything happens to you, Eleanor". Eleanor's heart skipped as she felt a jolt of electricity at his touch and his words, she cleared her throat as he loosened his grip on her and gestured for her to lead the way

As they walked back to the gallery entrance, Eleanor's eyes scanned through the dark street for any sign of Marcus, her mind racing with thoughts of him and Sebastian, her past unreasonably resurfacing back into her life.

She noticed her driver, Taylor was waiting for her. She flashed a thank-you smile at Sebastian as the driver opened the car door. Her face showered with relief when she saw her husband, Lucas, approaching the car.

The drive home was silent, Eleanor's heart fidgeting as she struggled to breathe despite the chilling air conditioner.

"What if Lucas finds out about my past?" she thought to herself as she repeatedly tapped her fingers on her leg

"Are you alright?" Lucas asked his hand on her shaking leg, his face filled with worries.

Eleanor plastered a fake smile on her face and nodded sheeply to Lucas as the driver opened the car door for her, It was one thing to have encountered her one-night stand by mistake but it was another huge scare to have met the one person she dreaded and avoided her whole life

Looking up at their exquisite large mansion she realized this was her life now and nothing or nobody was going to destroy it

"Mom!" Eleanor's thoughts were interrupted by her twin's excited chatter as she walked into the house; she smiled as she hugged them tightly, grateful for them distracting her from the dark thoughts that stayed in her mind. Looking at the twins and seeing how Lucas treated them with bliss and happiness, Eleanor knew she had one thing to do

And that was to protect the family she had grown to love from imposters, herself, and her dark past life.

Chapter 3 Show time

Sebstain sighed in frustration as he stepped out of his car and gazed up at the Sinclair's mansion. His mind wandered back to the previous night, replaying the conversation he had with Eleanor. He hadn't meant to hurt her with his words, he was annoyed and wanted to apologize to her for his words when he had followed her outside and met her arguing with some stranger. For some reason, He didn't know why the scene made him so furious.

Sebstain sighed again, He had been so angry, hurt, and emotionally dejected at how she had left him that very night. he had thought he found his soulmate only for her to run away before he could even wake up, he didn't know she would come back to the hotel room and had said those words over the phone out of anger

He hadn't meant to talk to her in that manner and he also certainly hadn't meant to call what they both had, a basic one-night stand.

He stood as the large door was opened by one of the guards

Adjusting his cufflinks, He straightened up, took a deep breath, his expression a masterful blend of confidence and charm

"Showtime", He whispered to himself, his voice barely audible, a hit of a smile playing on his lips as he walked into the mansion

"Good morning, Mr. Anderson, and welcome to my humble abode," Lucas said, shaking hands with him as they proceeded to the dining room for their meeting.

"The artwork needed for the hotels in Hong Kong has been settled and arranged for shipment....", He drawled in his words as he witnessed Eleanor stepping down the stairs looking appealingly gorgeous in the White top and blue jeans she wore, her brown glistering hair packed up in a messy bun

"You were saying something, Mr. Anderson", he was interrupted from his unprofessional thoughts of Eleanor but was trapped right back in as she passed beside where he sat and kissed Lucas on the cheeks, her morning fresh set of strawberry bath bubbles and heavenly alluring scents keeping him in a dazzle

She stole one hateful glance at him as she left, leaving only the remains of her fresh scent lingering in the room to his fascination. He continued analyzing the contract with Lucas, his mind constantly drifting back to Eleanor.

"That puts an end to the Hong Kong contract", He stood up shaking hands with Lucas after hours of deliberation and analysis. "It's a lovely house you have right here, you won't mind if I take a detour". Sebastian didn't know why he requested a tour but was glad when Lucas nodded to the butler to show him around and waved him off in an urgency to take a call.

Sebstain surveyed the area taking every inch of detail, his feet stopping as he got a view of the wide garden

Feeling awkward as the butler followed him around, he stated calmly towards the butler.

"You can leave now", He smiled at the butler. "I surely can handle myself and find my way around this gorgeous house".

"But sir.."He watched as the butler tried to argue but left after much persuasion.

Sebastian's eyes were mesmerized by the alluring garden and as he turned a corner, he stumbled upon a secluded garden path and followed it, his footsteps quiet on the stone pavement. The path led him to a picturesque gazebo, surrounded by blooming roses and firm trees. His eyes fell on Eleanor as she stood there, her back to him, gazing out at the sky, her brown hair harmonizing with the garden.

She jolted when she saw him "What are you doing here", Her tone was calmly firm

Sebastian's eyes met Eleanor's, and his eyes glistened with scoundrel. "It's a lovely garden you have here, isn't it?" he said,

Eleanor's face hardened, her voice firm but uncertain. "I want you to leave." Sebastian didn't respond as he took a step forward towards her as he watched as she took a few step backward

"And what if I don't?" he whispered and took one last step towards her, trapping her unto the wall inside the gazebo, his breath hot against her ear.

Eleanor's eyes flashed with panic, as she pushed him away. "Don't make me call Lucas," she warned, her voice trembling. Sebastian stood his ground, his gaze locked onto hers, as he lifted her chin, his eyes burning with intensity.

"Sebastian, what are you doing? Lucas might come any time now," Eleanor said, trying to avoid eye contact. Sebastian caressed her cheek, his touch sending shivers down her spine.

"Already dying to be free from me, Tesoro?" he whispered, his lips inches from hers. "Let's agree, Eleanor. We can't forget the night we had together. We've made mistakes, and it's unfair for us to be dwelling on it."

"As you said Sebastian, the night didn't mean anything to you neither did it mean anything to me also", she paused looking right into his eyes "So, what you're trying to do here, can't work Sebastian, I'm married for crying out loud", He tightened his firm on the wall as she tried pushing him Again "please, just leave"

"Is that what you want, Ele?" he asked as he watched her answer.

"Yes", she whispered, her voice uncertain and doubtful

His gaze locked onto Eleanor's, his eyes searching for any sign of the connection they once shared. He saw the faintest look of it in her eyes, and his heart raced with hope.

He closed the few inches around them, their chest pressing onto each other, his voice barely above a whisper. 'Ele, from the moment I saw you again, I knew I couldn't let you go. I've been trying to convince myself otherwise, but... I can't help how I feel.' He paused, his eyes pleading for her to understand.

'I know I hurt you, and I'm so sorry for that. But please, don't deny what's still between us.' Eleanor's face softened, her lips parting slightly as she seemed to consider his words.

Sebastian's heart skipped a beat as she leaned in, her eyes locked onto his, He rested his forehead and whispered " I want you, Eleonora amore mio".

And With that he pulled her into his embrace with a strong grip, his lips crashing onto hers with burning intensity, unbothered by the consequences of his action.

As he felt her about to give in to the kiss, her hands wrapped around his neck, as she let out a slight moan, A foot step was heard on the stone pavement and he felt her pushing him away, Her face frozen in panic and terror at the figure approaching.
