Chapter 1 Angry boss

Angry boss

"Mia Patel, have you lost your senses?" thundered the voice of an angry Harry Bailey as he glared at his employee. Mia, taken aback, faltered, "Why, sir!?" But before she could finish her sentence, Mr. Bailey cut her off sharply, "Don't you question me!" His voice roared throughout the office, leaving no room for further argument. "You know very well that, more than anyone else, you've given me no peace since you started working here. You are a big pain in the neck and can't seem to do anything right!"

As the weight of his words settled in, Harry paused and leaned closer to Mia, causing her to shrink back. He stood up abruptly and declared, "You have done well today. You may go home," before striding out of his office in a most commanding manner.

Mia stood frozen, attempting to process what had just transpired. She gathered her belongings, her eyes welling up with tears, and hurriedly left his office. The tears threatened to spill over as she made her way home, feeling utterly defeated.

In an attempt to wash away the pain, Mia decided to take a shower. Standing in front of the bathroom mirror, she caught a glimpse of her reflection – a face framed with damp red hair. Her thoughts drifted, and her fingers slowly untied the black ribbon holding her hair in place. As she brushed her hair, she couldn't help but notice some of her distinctive features that made people drawn to her. Her hair flowed like molten lava over her shoulders, complementing her saccharine sweet lips, which appeared soft and inviting. Mia's perfectly symmetrical nose enhanced her already soothing face. With her shapely figure, glossy skin, and a voice that could rival that of an angel, she had earned nicknames like "red moon princess" and "sassie-lassie." Yet, despite her beauty, she never bragged or boasted, always approaching others with kindness and humility. Despite the fact that people were drawn to her, she still remained a typical introvert, Vanessa was the only one who could understand her and became her one and only friend.

Back in her room, lying on her bed, Mia pondered what might have led Harry to act so aggressively towards her. Confusion and hurt filled her thoughts as she desperately tried to understand what conspired behind his behavior. In the midst of her contemplation, a knock on the door startled her, snapping her out of her reverie. She opened the door to find her aunt Emily, a woman in her forties who had cared for Mia since she was a child.

"Mia, my dear, is everything alright?" Aunt Emily asked, concern evident in her voice. Mia mustered a smile and replied, "No, Aunt, I was just feeling tired and dirty, so I came back home to freshen up. There's no need to worry." Aunt Emily, still worried, insisted, "If anything is troubling you, please don't hesitate to tell me." Mia nodded appreciatively and retreated to her room.

As her aunt left, Mia's mind turned to her parents, bringing forth a sudden wave of melancholy. Her parents had passed away in a plane crash when she was just an infant, leaving her with only pictures and stories from her aunt to imagine their faces.

Overcome with emotion, Mia stumbled to her bedside where she retrieved a small wooden box, a treasure chest of memories. She slowly opened it, revealing a necklace her mother had left behind. This heirloom had been passed down through generations, reminding Mia of her heritage and the strength she carried within. Mia scolded herself for not being upfront with her aunt about what had happened at work, as honesty was a virtue she held dear. However, she couldn't bear burdening her aunt with her troubles. The necklace always gives her strength and attracts good luck, it was her lucky charm, she knew and believed in it. she always put it on but because she was hasty in her preparation for work she forgot to wear it. Maybe that's why her boss was so angry, Mia thought as she got up, no longer feeling moody, she grab the necklace and put it on no l

Driven by determination, Mia grabbed her jacket and returned to the supermarket, determined to confront Harry and seek clarity. As she entered the bustling store, she searched every corner, hoping to catch a glimpse of him. Despite her previous experience working there, she felt nervous, as if it were her first day on the job. She muttered to herself, "This might just be my last time here."

With her heart pounding, Mia scanned the aisles, searching for Harry amidst the customers. Finally, she decided to check his office. Her hands trembled, anxiety coursing through her veins as she approached the closed door. Summoning every ounce of courage, she took a deep breath and turned the knob.

Inside, Harry, a strikingly handsome man in his late twenties, was dressed in an expensive tuxedo, exuding confidence and charm. He seemed engrossed in a phone call, but as if sensing Mia's presence, he abruptly ended the call. When Mia began to approach him, he fixed her with a glare that emanated both anger and intimidation. She instinctively lowered her gaze until she felt close enough to speak.

"Mia," Harry's voice cut through the tense atmosphere.Tension filled the atmosphere as Mia braced herself for whatever decision Harry would make. With a hint of aggression in his voice, he asked, "What are you doing here, Mia?" Mia struggled to comprehend his words, as he repeated the question with growing impatience. Stammering, she managed to reply, "I... work here." Harry's reaction was unexpected; his face contorted into a strange expression as he let out an odd, throaty laugh. Leaning in closer, Mia instinctively moved backwards, almost losing her footing, but steadied herself. In a low voice, Harry delivered the devastating news, "You are fired, Mia." The weight of his words echoed in her mind, and she whispered to herself, "So this is how I lost my job." She turned to face Harry, only to find him steadily retreating.

Chapter 2 Surprise Party

Surprise Party

Mia's phone slipped from her hands as she received the heartbreaking news. As she turned to leave, she heard Harry's voice calling out to her. In a state of shock, Mia asked him what he meant. Harry explained that it was all just a prank and that it was actually their anniversary, marking six months since she started working there.

Taking her hand, he guided her to the workers' lounge and told her to close her eyes. He whispered in her ear, asking her to only open them when he said so. The anticipation grew within Mia as she nodded, curious about what awaited her inside. When Harry finally gave the signal, she opened her eyes to a breathtaking sight.

Every corner of the room was decorated with professional elegance. Her co-workers stood before her, wishing her a happy anniversary in unison. Overwhelmed by the beauty of it all, Mia turned to Harry, who wore a smile on his face. She couldn't help but ask how he knew she would return and why he went through all this trouble for her, a mere worker. Before she could finish her sentence, Harry placed a finger on her lips, causing her heart to skip a beat.

"Mia, I knew you would come back, and I did all this because you're special," he confessed. A blush spread across Mia's cheeks as she hugged Harry tightly. It took him by surprise, but he reciprocated, slowly patting her back. After a few moments, they broke apart, leaving Mia feeling slightly awkward. She thanked him as her boss, but Harry insisted she call him by his name.

"Please, don't call me boss. Stick with Harry. Consider it one of your rewards. Now go and enjoy yourself. I have a meeting to attend. Goodbye," he said with a wink, causing Mia's cheeks to turn an even deeper shade of red. As she scolded herself for her behavior in front of Harry, her best friend Vanessa approached her.

Vanessa, with her long dark brown hair and brown eyes, was undoubtedly beautiful. Though not as stunning as Mia, they had a bond stronger than any sisterhood. They had attended the same high school and college, and it was Vanessa who convinced Mia to work at the same place. Vanessa, a vivacious 26-year-old, took a keen interest in others, particularly the opposite gender. She had gone through many boyfriends and even nursed a crush on their boss.

Ordering two glasses of champagne, they took their seats at the bar segment. Amidst the soft music and the laughter of the partygoers, a brief silence fell upon them. Mia observed their coworkers, seeing them at their happiest, chatting, laughing, dancing, taking selfies, and even engaging in some mischief fueled by the absence of their boss and manager. It felt like they were the owners of the party.

Breaking the silence, Vanessa snapped her fingers in front of Mia. "Hey, Mia, does Harry like you? Or do you like him? Are you guys dating?" she bombarded Mia with questions, her expression appearing downcast and sad.

"No," Mia quickly cut her off. "I don't have feelings for him, and I don't think he likes me either. We're not dating, okay?" she assured Vanessa. "I'll never run off with your man, silly," she added playfully.

Apologizing for her curiousness, Vanessa urged Mia to get up and dragged her onto the dance floor. The party eventually came to an end, and everyone dispersed, heading home. Mia returned to her quiet and deserted house, feeling a sense of loneliness. She wished her aunt's children attended a nearby school so they could keep her company.

When Vanessa wasn't around, Mia felt a deep solitude. Going to Vanessa's house was different, as her large extended family always visited, creating a lively atmosphere. Mia climbed the stairs and settled onto her bed, reflecting on the events of the evening. She also pondered her perpetual loneliness, with only her aunt and Vanessa as her friends. Apart from Vanessa, she had no other close companions.

"Maybe I should consider Vanessa's suggestion of finding a boyfriend," she mused aloud. But then, determinedly, she added, "No, I'll just embrace my loner nature. There's no point in getting involved. They all end up breaking your heart, leaving you hurt and miserable."

Feeling drained of energy, Mia rose lazily from her bed. The party and the flurry of emotions had taken their toll on her. She undressed and stepped into the bathroom, turning on the cold shower to soothe her scorching and uncomfortable heat.

As the water cascaded down, memories of Harry flooded Mia's mind.

Vanessa's confession about her feelings for Harry had been genuine, even though Mia knew deep down that Vanessa also harbored feelings for him. It was a difficult situation to navigate, and Mia knew she had to be cautious when Harry was around. Perhaps it would be best to avoid him altogether.

After showering, Mia changed into her cozy footy pajamas and slipped on her furry bear slippers before hopping onto her bed. Sleep eluded her, however, as thoughts of Harry consumed her mind. She tried her usual method of rolling over to fall asleep, but this time it didn't work. Desperate to push the thoughts away, Mia considered calling Harry. She held her phone in her hand, contemplating making the call, but ultimately decided against it. What would she even say?

Mia gulped down a glass of milk, hoping it would help her sleep. Finally, exhaustion overcame her, and she drifted off into slumber.

The next morning, Mia rose from bed early, determined not to let yesterday's events define her. She completed her household chores with lightning speed, surprising her aunt. Although her aunt wanted to inquire about her rush, she wisely chose to mind her own business and not spoil Mia's mood. Mia headed to the bathroom to freshen up.

For work, Mia donned a blue T-shirt with the Harry's Supermarket logo on the right side, coupled with a pair of black jeans that accentuated her hips and perfectly shaped butt. Completing her outfit were white sneakers, the required dress code for supermarket employees. She styled her hair into a bun, adorning it with a red ribbon. She looked like a cute Christmas present.

Chapter 3 Wealthy Billionaire

Downstairs, Mia had a quick breakfast, only managing to eat half before kissing her aunt goodbye. She hailed a taxi and arrived at the supermarket slightly behind schedule. Determined not to let it dampen her spirits, Mia hurried to her assigned duty post and started working.

Mia's role at the supermarket was that of a customer service assistant. Her responsibilities included helping customers find items, bagging their groceries, and assisting them with carrying their purchases to their vehicles. She took pride in her job and approached each task with enthusiasm and a warm smile. As she stood at her post, Mia's keen observance caught sight of a man with brown hair. He exuded an air of importance, dressed like a bodyguard in an impeccably tailored suit and sporting an earpiece. A quick glance at his posture and demeanor confirmed her suspicion: he worked for a wealthy billionaire.

Intrigued by his purposeful strides and searching gaze, the man motioned for Mia to approach. She felt a flutter of anticipation as she made her way towards him, curious about the scenario unfolding before her. The man's expression held a mix of awe and admiration as he looked at her. "How can a girl be so pretty while working? Shouldn't she be a model?" he mumbled, his eyes unwilling to leave her radiant presence. Recognizing the need to bring him back to reality, Mia cleared her throat intentionally, snapping him out of his reverie. "Sir, can I assist you with anything?" she asked politely, her voice filled with genuine concern.

"U-uhm, yeah. I'm looking for Moana wine. Can you show me where it is? I believe I'm in the wrong aisle," the man replied, still seemingly lost in awe of Mia's beauty.

Of course, sir. Please come with me, and I'll guide you to the wine aisle," Mia responded graciously, her curiosity increasing with every passing moment. She led him through the supermarket, her knowledge of the store layout enabling her to navigate the aisles with ease. The wine section finally came into view, with shelves adorned with elegant floral designs that showcased the extensive collection. Intriguing and captivating labels presented each bottle, telling stories of their origins and flavors. Among them stood the shelf holding the sought-after Moana wine, its unique black half-moon bottle adorned with delicate diamond fragments, exuding an air of luxury and exclusivity. Moana wine was sought after by the rich and influential and possessed sedative qualities, even a small amount capable of intoxicating within seconds.

How many bottles would you like to purchase, sir?" Mia inquired. She shocked when he responded with "fifty."

""Fifty? Are you sure, sir?" Mia asked, unable to conceal her disbelief. She assumed he must have misspoke, intending to request five bottles but accidentally saying fifty.

"Yes, fifty. Is there a problem?" the man questioned, unaware of Mia's state of shock In her mind, Mia screamed, "A single bottle costs two million dollars! People usually buy one or at most three bottles. What kind of rich billionaire requires fifty?" With professionalism intact, she put her doubts aside and focused on providing exceptional customer service. She began retrieving the requested bottles from the shelves, her trained hands moving swiftly as she carefully placed them into a shopping cart. Counting each bottle, Mia felt a mixture of amazement and concern. The weight of the cart increased with each addition, making the journey to the register seem like a daunting task.

As if sensing her struggle, the man in the bodyguard attire approached Mia, his voice laced with understanding and kindness. "Let me assist you with that," he offered. Grateful for the unexpected help, Mia nodded appreciatively. Together, they maneuvered through the bustling supermarket, the man's assistance brought a sense of ease to her task. Finally, they reached the register where Vanessa, the registrar, awaited. Her eyes widened upon seeing the staggering amount of wine, her curiosity piqued. She wondered if it had been ordered for stocking purposes, but why was it brought there?, she wondered.

Vanessa and Mia exchanged confused glances as they processed the unusual situation before them. Vanessa, ever diligent, swiftly calculated the total cost of the purchased goods. As she hesitated to voice the amount, she couldn't help but note that it was the highest purchase record since she had begun working at the register.

"Hmm, sir, your bill comes to one hundred million dollars," Vanessa finally informed him, her eyes searching for any hint of surprise on his face. To her astonishment, he remained expressionless. Meanwhile, Mia observed him closely, hoping to detect any signs of shock or disbelief. However, his demeanor remained unchanged, as he simply requested the account details of the supermarket.

Mia diligently packaged the goods in a carton and offered to assist him in carrying them to his vehicle. He kindly offered to help her, but she politely declined, not wanting to burden him further. As she approached his car, tragedy struck. Mia stumbled over a rock in the parking lot, causing her to lose her balance and shatter all the bottles of wine in her hands. Devastated by the damage she had caused, Mia cried out in frustration, "Oh no, why does the universe hate me?"

As Mia wallowed in her misfortune, she noticed the car owner waving her over. Nervously, she approached him with her head bowed. As she lifted her gaze, she was taken aback by his striking appearance. This man standing before her surpassed even Harry in terms of physical beauty. He seemed like the embodiment of a heavenly being, with a delicately shaped nose, pronounced cheekbones, and captivating gray eyes that exuded an air of coldness. Yet, he possessed an understated handsomeness that left Mia breathless.

In this tense moment, Mia felt a surge of fear as his hand reached towards her neck. However, to her surprise, he merely untied her ribbon, causing her hair to cascade down. He then gently ran his fingers through her hair, captivated by its fiery red color. Finally, he spoke in a chilly tone, "Red, what is your name?"

"M-Mia," she managed to stutter out, awe-struck by his presence.
