Chapter 1 Unit Number 10

Godiva PoV.

"It's already 7 o'clock. Gosh, I'm late!"

I quickly threw off the covers and got out of bed. Without caring about my looks, which might be messy, I rushed to the kitchen. Passing through the narrow corridor with peeling paint on the walls, I half ran barefoot.

I heard two women talking to each other in different tones. One of them spoke in a high tone and was answered with a trembling tone of voice from the other woman. I quickened my pace when my name was called by one of them.

"Godiva, where is she?" the high-pitched woman shouted.

"I'm here, Auntie..."

I saw that Aunt Caylee's face was already bright red. I realized that I had woken up late, but the expression on her face was unnerving as she looked at me. I approached her, who was standing behind the dining table with her hands bent at her waist.

I looked down at the floor and waited for my aunt to speak. The sudden silence made me feel even more creeped out. I continued to stare at my bare feet and linked my fingers to quell my fear.

"What did you do to Kayleigh?"

As soon as Aunt Caylee asked me about Kayleigh, I knew this day would come. The day of judgment from Auntie would definitely result in me receiving punishment. I had resigned myself to the fact that no matter how hard I tried to explain what had happened, she would still find me guilty.

"You heard me, Godiva; so answer my question!" snapped my aunt.

I felt both confused and scared. I looked at the reddish marks curled around my wrists. It was only yesterday that I had gotten that wound because of a hundred dollars matter that my aunt had lost from her purse.

Last Thursday night, I clearly saw my cousin take the money from my aunt's purse that was left on the living room table. I explained to my aunt that I didn't steal the money, but she still blamed me. I was always wrong, and my cousin was always right in her eyes.

I finally replied, "I got a bonus from Mauricio, but I can't give my money to Kayleigh. I need it to buy shoes because mine are worn out."

Instantly, I saw a change of expression on my aunt's face. With one eyebrow raised, Auntie put on a devilish smile. I saw the movement of her hand, which swung slowly from her waist and then extended straight to me.

I exhaled harshly but remained unmoved. In the blink of an eye, an object struck my head. I looked at the bowl that had broken on the floor after colliding with my head. I felt pain, but I held it in as much as possible because I didn't want to make my aunt even angrier.

Without saying much and with my chest tight, I went back to my room. I opened the door, the hinges of which were almost broken, and the sound of metal clashing rang in my ears as I walked past. I decided to give the bonus money to my aunt rather than prolong the problem this morning.

I took out a purse from a medium-sized bag whose black color had faded. I took out the few bills I'd gotten from the owner of the pizzeria where I worked. With a glance at the white sneakers whose soles had lifted up, I had to stick with them for the next few months.

I returned to the dining room that was attached to the kitchen. I reluctantly handed the money to my aunt, and she accepted it with a smile. What made me even more miserable was when I heard Kayleigh's chuckling voice teasing me.

"You should have given it to Kayleigh, so I wouldn't have to waste my energy this morning just to get pissed off. You're lucky that I didn't punish you like yesterday, so hurry up and prepare breakfast for us now."

I walked over to the refrigerator, located in the corner of the room. I took a piece of ice from the freezer and put it on my head to relieve the pain from the bump earlier. I then started preparing breakfast for them.

Taking a bunch of lettuce and some eggs, I planned to make fried eggs for the sandwich. I prepared breakfast in record time because I was already really late.

After finished preparing breakfast and finishing my own sandwich, I quickly went to the toilet to wash my face and brush my teeth. After taking five minutes to get ready, I immediately said goodbye to my family. I still maintain politeness because they're my only family now.

I finally got the bus to the downtown area after waiting ten minutes at the bus stop. In this rush hour, I had to stand all the way to the restaurant. It gave me time to remember the past. Remembering how my mom and dad died when I was 7 years old in a traffic accident, I gripped the support pole in the bus tightly.

My life was a little better after working as a pizza delivery girl. I was able to put some of my salary aside for the future and also not be so dependent on my uncle and aunt. Once I really had enough money, I planned to leave my aunt's house and live independently by renting a small, cheap apartment.

I saw that the bus had stopped at the bus stop right in the downtown area. I queued up to get off the bus, which was full of office workers. I proceeded to the one-story building with blue paint on the walls.

"Hi, Godiva. The boss has been looking for you for the past five minutes," a young girl greeted me from behind the counter.

"Where is he, Bree?"

"He's in the kitchen," Bree replied with a shake of her head in the direction of the kitchen.

I rushed to the locker room to change into my uniform. Tying my hair up, I walked into the kitchen to find Mauricio. There, he was passing a small note to Alfonso, then turned around after noticing my arrival.

"You're finally here. You have to deliver some pizzas to a friend of mine who lives in a fancy apartment. They asked for a special employee to deliver it, which is why I asked you to do it. You are my most diligent employee, Godiva. Don't let me down, okay?" said Mauricio until his head bowed to me.

"I see."

I waited for half an hour for the pizza to cook. Alfonso winked at me and raised a fist in front of his chest after handing me five boxes of pizza.

"Have a nice day, Godiva."

"You too, Alfonso. I'm leaving first," I said.

I picked up the motorcycle keys that were hanging next to the cash register. Eagerly, I approached the scooter in the reserved parking area and put the boxes into the container behind the motorcycle seat. After putting on my helmet and gloves, I quickly turned the key and drove the scooter to the address on my phone screen.

'Sycamore St., Asturg'

I had never driven to that address before. As far as I knew from the movies I'd seen, the residents of luxury apartments must be from the upper class and never order pizza. I smiled to myself at my pretentious assumption that I didn't know what the upper class wanted to eat.

Right at the address, I immediately raised my head in amazement at the apartment building, whose end I couldn't see clearly. I took a deep breath and tried to make my steps light to get into the apartment building. I asked the security guard for a pass by showing the restaurant employee card hanging around my neck.

I pressed the button for the top floor according to the address instructions. As soon as the elevator doors opened, I saw one man in a navy blue uniform standing in front of the elevator button. I called the 32nd floor, and he immediately pressed the same number on the button.

"Thank you."

I noticed the numbers written on the side wall just as I got out of the elevator. I read through the rows of residents' names and found the name of the pizza-ordering rich guy.

"Melucci's, units 10–15. Which unit should I come to?"

There happened to be someone passing by me. Overcoming my confusion, I asked him about Melucci's apartment unit. He took off the sunglasses perched on his crooked nose and replied, "You can take the food to unit number ten."

"Thank you."

For a moment, I felt a different aura from him. I could see his iris, which turned yellow after looking at me deeply. I shook my head and walked away from the elevator. I turned around briefly to look at that person again, but I couldn't find him.

I finally arrived in front of unit number ten. Before I could actually press the bell, the door of the unit opened first. I didn't expect the electricity in the apartment to go out at the same time as the door opened.

The only sight I could see besides the light coming through the gap in the curtain from inside the unit were two small yellow-colored dots, exactly like the iris of the eyes of the person I had questioned earlier. Afterward, I felt my hand being pulled by someone towards the light source I saw in the window.

"What is this? What's going on?"

Chapter 2 Precious Mate

"What are you doing, sir?"

I stamped my feet firmly on the floor to resist the pull of the man's strong arms. I couldn't see his face clearly because the dim lighting only came from the light in the gap in the curtain. I tried to stay in my position at the doorway, but it was useless as I was slowly dragged inside.

I tried not to cry as fear engulfed me. I don't know why I still held on to the 5 pizza boxes I was holding in my left hand, even though I could have thrown them at the man in self-defense. I just thought it was my hallucination because of the power outage.

Once I heard the stifled growl of the man pulling me, I became convinced that I was hearing a different sound. When I hit something that wasn't hard but flat and warm, I knew I was getting closer to the man. I hardened my gaze to see his face in the darkness.

"Godiva Fletcher, you're my mate."

"I don't understand what you're saying. Please let me go, sir..." I whispered in submission.

At the same time, the electricity was back on. I was so firmly looking at the man's face who was talking to me. I measured that the distance between our faces was only a few inches, until I could feel the warm breath touching my face.

I was fixated on the visual of his perfectly chiseled face with a firm line on his jaw. Instantly, I dropped five boxes of pizza onto the floor. Unperturbed by the sound made by the impact of the boxes and the floor, the man continued to stare deeply at me.

Unexpectedly once again, he sniffed my neck, which was covered by the uniform collar. I cringed. Feeling the alternating inhalation and exhalation of breath against my neck's skin, I unconsciously closed my eyes.

"What are you doing, sir?"

"I'm sniffing your scent. Ah, it smells so good; so seductive and arousing."

Suddenly I was wide-eyed. I tried to take a step back, but my body was restrained by the man's hand. He kept his hands on my waist until I felt the blood rippling in my veins.

This was honestly my first time being in such an intimate distance with a man. Of course I had never felt the reaction of any man's touch. I took his touch of me for granted even though just a few seconds ago I was getting goose bumps.

As his hand went up to my neck, I stiffened even more. The touch effect from him was such that it kept me close for every second. My heart was beating violently along with my irregular breathing.

"I'm asking you to hold it for a while. You can hold on to me," the man said softly but firmly.

The man lowered his head to my neck again. The next second I felt something sharp pierce my neck's skin. I screamed and firmly gripped the shirt sleeve the man was wearing.

I felt a burning sensation in my neck followed by a dizziness that made my head heavy. I groaned loudly as the burning sensation began to spread throughout my body. I couldn't even stand on the floor properly.

Amidst the sensations that assaulted my body, I faintly heard the man whisper sweet words. When the grip on my hands began to loosen, I gathered the strength to ask.

"What happened to me? Why does it hurt so much?"

"You will get through it, Godiva. You are mine now and you are safe with me."

"I'm not..." I stammered.

I looked at my surroundings which were beginning to darken. The man's face also began to blur as my strength began to weaken. I could only feel that there were hands holding and hugging my body tightly.

*

"Good evening, my precious Godiva."

I heard the man's voice greeting me as I opened my eyes. I was lying on a large bed that was smooth and soft. It felt like I had fallen asleep for a long winter and woke up to welcome spring.

I sat up and checked my surroundings. I then looked at the man who was with me earlier. He was still sitting in his chair comfortably with his gaze fixed on me.

"Do you have anything to ask?"

Of course there were tons of questions swirling around in my head, pushing out to get answers from the man immediately. I quickly compiled a list of questions that I would ask him. Clearing my throat briefly, I looked back at him simply observing the expression on his face.

"What happened to me, sir?"

"You were unconscious for twelve hours and don't call me that. I'm your mate now."

I immediately widened my eyes. I didn't expect that I would faint for that long. When I heard him claiming me as his partner, I let out a soft chuckle but immediately covered my mouth

"We don't know each other, so please don't speak out of turn. I'm not your mate like you said" I argued in a squeaky voice.

"We'll see about that. Do you have anything else to ask?"

"Am I being tricked? Are you a bad person? Do you want to kill me slowly?"

"Yes. No, I'm not. No, I won't. I'll set the record straight. I deliberately asked you to come deliver the trash. I'm not a bad person to you because I wouldn't ever kill you."

"If you're not a bad person, why did you hurt me? You're a wishy-washy person."

I moved my eyes left and right. I tried to take in every word he said. I held on to the thought that even I was still breathing at this moment.

"I marked you. The effect does hurt, but it will heal in a few days, I'm sorry about that. I didn't know that the effect would be this long on you."

I reflexively touched where the pain was on my neck. I felt a cloth covering the wound and it was still throbbing but the burning was gone. I wanted to think that all these strange things I was experiencing were just a dream, but I was immediately broken because the pain was so real.

I realized that it was already night. I immediately panicked and thought Maurico must be waiting for me. I looked for my black bag and saw it lying on the table right next to the chair he was sitting in.

I got out of bed and pulled my black bag roughly. I also looked for my shoes that I had found at the bottom of the bed. As I checked the cell phone I had just taken from my bag, I frowned as I stared at the screen.

"This is strange. He didn't call me at all."

"I asked him to," the man interrupted.

"You're weird. You make me have to come to this place, then you bite my neck. You're a human but you bite my neck like an animal. Who are you, sir?"

"I told you that you were my mate and not to call me that. I am Castor Melucci, Alpha of the Moonstone Pack."

Of course I knew he was a Melucci. I could see and read his name from the order paper Mauricio gave me. One question I was curious about, how could this Melucci guy do this animal-like 'biting' thing?

I saw that Castor had already stood up from the chair. He walked with his mysterious charm towards me. Just like at the beginning of our meeting, I remained motionless and could not avoid him. His intimidating aura seemed to nail my feet to the floor and freeze me into welcoming him.

"I don't understand any of this. Castor Melucci is an Alpha?"

"Welcome to my world, Luna. Tonight is the full moon phase, we will become one."

I stared at him without blinking. I was surprised by his confidence. I wanted to ignore his words that made no sense to me and leave that place as quickly as possible by stepping towards the door.

Before my intention could happen, Castor was already pulling me towards him. I was sure that I looked like a fool now. Being in a room with someone I didn't know and not being able to do anything, I must have completely lost my mind.

I felt my heart pounding again as we pressed against each other. The next second he was already touching my lips with his. I had locked my mouth, not moving so Castor wouldn't have a chance to do anything further.

My body seemed to lock up as Castor began to kiss me gently, I was lulled. Every cell in my body seemed to embrace his every move. I could feel Castor's body heat pressing my body against the wall.

In the midst of that moment I closed my eyes, letting out a thin sigh that automatically made Castor's hand creep up my back. I wanted to ask him one more question while I still had the chance.

"Why am I like this?"

"Because of me, my precious Godiva."

Chapter 3 Imprinted

"Why didn't you let me go, Castor?"

Finally, and with difficulty catching my breath after our passionate kiss, I was able to ask him. I can even say his name fluently. I felt the wetness on every surface of my lips that I had truly enjoyed earlier.

I lifted my face to stare at Castor's visuals, which had me in a trance. I saw the yellow glow again from his irises. I clearly saw the reflection of my face in his eyes. I blinked a few times to be able to trust my own sight.

"I won't, because I'm sure you'll like it after this."

I regained my consciousness after hearing his words. I didn't like the words that implied he knew everything about me. I pushed his body away from me.

"You rejected me?"

"Yes. I have no more business in this place, Mr. Melluci."

I said it smoothly, and I didn't care if he got angry. I had to go home immediately so that I wouldn't sleep outside. If that happened, I wouldn't be able to work tomorrow because my entire body would be targeted by blood-sucking insects.

Castor released his hold on me, but his face remained a faint grin. I organized my things and myself once more. Making sure nothing was left behind, I turned around to notice Castor still where he was.

And sure enough, he remained where he stood still with all the charm that tempted me not to move away from him. Damn it! I hated myself. Shaking off those thoughts, I will use this opportunity to leave this apartment.

"See you soon, Godiva."

"He even said goodbye; I can't believe it," I snorted as I walked out.

Castor PoV,

I let her go just to be able to get her back. I quickly grabbed my cell phone to contact Pippo, one of my warriors, to follow Godiva. I could see the bruise on her wrist, and it made me uneasy.

"Did she get injured at work?" I muttered.

From the information I had gotten, Godiva only worked at a pizzeria and lived with her aunt's family. The two places were 8 miles apart in territory, and it was not our pack's territory, so I could not monitor her intensely from the first time I saw her. Luckily, I know the Alpha of the pack entrenched in the area, so Pippo should be able to pass through their territory safely, just for tonight.

After giving orders to Pippo, I sat on the edge of the bed. I picked up the blanket that Godiva had used earlier. Her scent pierced my nostrils and kept me intoxicated even when she left the room.

Just like the meaning of her name, Godiva has become the gift that the Moon Goddess gave me. Had she been a she-wolf, perhaps this imprint would have brought us together tonight as well. I did not want to force her because I did not have the heart for her after I marked her earlier.

I could still hold back my desire to be with her, at least for a few days. I've thought of many plans to do together with her. Moonstone Pack and Bruze City will be even stronger after we unite.

My daydream faded away when my cell phone rang, displaying my brother's name on the screen. He had left earlier in the day to investigate the human corpses that were drying out from blood loss in the southern district of the city.

After swiping the green icon on the screen, I asked, "Any clues?"

I clenched my fists tightly when Pollux mentioned two small holes in the corpse's neck. It had been a hundred years since I'd heard my father discover the bloodsuckers in Bruze. For almost half an hour, I talked with my brother. I calmed down when Pollux said that he'd gotten a trace of the perpetrator.

I immediately hung up the phone and looked once more at the thing that Pippo was calling me. I received his call and immediately asked, "Did she get home?"

"There's a problem, Alpha. There was a small commotion at her house. I heard the sound of things breaking and the loud noise of things hitting the floor. Should I check it out?"

"I'll be right there. If she comes out of her house, keep her at a safe distance until I arrive."

I ran straight out of the apartment. I didn't care about the thunder that echoed in my ears when I got outside the apartment building. I changed direction to a narrow alley not far from the apartment and shifted myself into a wolf.

I traced every dark path between the tall buildings and jumped against the wall when I found a building with a few floors. The sound of my claws digging into the wall almost made one of the residents of the small apartment I was passing by pop his head out of the window. Luckily, I had the speed and agility to run in my wolf form.

"Hang in there, Godiva," I prayed.

As I got closer to her house, I felt something tighten in my chest. I had never felt anything like this before. I shed tears, even though I clearly felt violent shaking. My throat was constricted even though I opened my jaw halfway to get oxygen into my lungs.

When I saw that all the buildings were spaced wide apart, I felt even more sadness, which made my heart jolt. I was already in a sub-urban area in the northern part of Bruze. I smelled Godiva's body scent more strongly as I walked behind the hedges that framed the residential area.

I finally saw the girl walking with slow steps, dragging her suitcase. I quickly shifted into my human form and made my way to Pippo's car, which was a few yards behind Godiva. Pippo did as I told him to guard Godiva while following her in the car.

"Pippo, I borrowed your coat," I pleaded as I ambushed his car from the side.

"Did you shift into wolf form to get here, Alpha Castor?"

"Yes, hurry up. I don't want to be seen as a human with an exposed body like this."

Pippo stopped the car and took off his coat to give it to me. I wrapped the black coat around my body and stepped away from his car. Steadying my heart, I continued my steps to catch up with Godiva.

"Godiva, wait!"

The girl stopped her steps. I took a few steps forward to check on her. I saw that her cheeks showed signs of redness. From her temple, I also saw an open wound that dripped blood onto her uniform shirt. I felt terrible seeing her in her trembling state.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have let you go earlier. Your wound needs to be treated immediately. Allow me to treat it."

"What are you talking about, Mr. Melucci?"

"Please call me Castor. I'm not your master." I lowered my tone to make her accept my help.

"All right. Castor. I don't know how you found me. I'm not in the mood to play guessing games with you either. I'm already very tired today, so I ask you not to interfere in my business."

"Godiva, I beg you to let me do it. I will suffer a lot when you are like this."

"Castor..."

"Please, Godiva."
