Beep Beep Beep...
Alora's alarm rang out loudly. She still had sleep in her eyes, so she snoozed the alarm to continue with her sleep till she realized what day it was.
It was her big day.
She had a shoot with a very important brand and in order to make a good impression, she intended to be there very early. She jumped out of her bed pulling off the pink sleeping eye mask from her face and throwing it to the side of her room as she ran to the bathroom.
She was a bit messy.
She took a nice Warm shower and made sure to wash her brown curly hair with a lot of conditioner so it would come out soft and shiny for her photoshoot.
She put on her bathrobe and did her regular skincare routine and applied a facemask even though her skin already looked flawless. She dried out her hair and curled it with a curler. She was doing the most.
Still in her bathrobe, she headed downstairs to eat her breakfast that was already being prepared by her best friend Mandy. She served her plain pancakes alongside orange juice while they had a conversation about how this photoshoot was going to change her career for the better.
"We have an hour to be on set. So go get dressed. We don't want to run late because of traffic." Mandy was evidently more excited about the photoshoot than Alora.
"Let me eat, Mandy," Alora grumbled.
"Fine. I'm going to my room to get dressed. When you are done eating get dressed so we can leave"
"Aren't you having breakfast with me?" Alora asked
"No, not yet, I have some calls to make. " Mandy walked away with a smile on her face.
Alora after having breakfast headed back to her room to find a nice outfit that looked both beautiful and professional.
She chose a red knee-length gown with long silk sleeves and a black heel. She picked out her favourite black purse and proceeded downstairs.
"You look stunning" Mandy complimented.
"Thank you, you do too"
"Come on, let's go"
They got into Alora's Black Midsize Sedan car which She owned for 2 years now.
"I'm calling Oliver. He was supposed to call me this morning but he didn't" she brought out her phone dailing Oliver's number.
"He isn't picking" she dailed his number again with hopes he'll answer.
"We'll call him later Alora. Let's focus on you"
"I know, I'm just worried".
"I'm sure he had a busy night. Let the man sleep." Mandy wasn't a fan of Oliver because before dating Alora he was known to be a playboy and she didn't believe he would change to a loyal boyfriend that fast but as long as he made her best friend happy, she was happy.
Alora finally gave up on calling Oliver and sent him a good morning text. She logged out of her social media and talked some more with Mandy.
°°°°°°°°°°°°
The set was busy with lots of people walking left and right doing their jobs.
"Miss Alora?" A tall Young lady in her late twenties called out. She had her hair in a high ponytail and a wide smile on her face
"Yes, that's me." Alora replied and shook the hand of the nice Lady.
"I'm your makeup artist for today. Thanks for being early."
"All thanks to my best friend, Mandy." Mandy, who was standing behind Alora, walked forward and shook her hand.
"It's nice to meet you," She said.
"The hair stylist is waiting in your dressing room. Let's go." Alora and Mandy followed behind the lady while they both talked about how nice she was to them.
It took a while to get Alora ready. The make-up artist did a very light make-up since the theme of the photoshoot was natural beauty and the hair stylist did a very simple-looking yet sophisticated style.
Alora had a change of clothes and was alone in her dressing room calling Oliver
"Miss. Alora, The shoot is starting in 5 minutes." The Make-up artist called out from the other side of the door.
"Okay. I'll be out right now." Alora tried calling Oliver again but he didn't pick up.
Maybe Mandy was right, Maybe he had a busy night.
"Come on, the photographer and his team are here". Mandy announces and Alora followed behind Mandy to where the photoshoot was going to take place.
After a short introduction and a couple laughs the photoshoot started.
It took 2 hours to finish the shoot and every one was very happy for the flawless shoot.
"Let's have lunch together. It'll be my treat" The photographer suggested.
"Shall we?" Mandy asked Alora who was very hungry and tired.
"Yes" she nodded.
"Good, let's go"
Mandy and Alora drove in their Car with Alora's Hair stylist and Make-up artist, headed to the restaurant that was decided on, while the lightning crew and the photographer drove in the van that they arrived in.
The restaurant was one of the most famous in New York and their food was known as the best. They were pretty expensive but it was definitely worth it.
"The photo shoot was the best. It was amazing". One of the Members of the lighting crew complimented.
"All thanks to our model" The Make-up artist Said laughing while drinking her glass of wine.
The entire crew talked and laughed while eating their free food.
"It's all thanks to Mr Rooney" Alora commended the photographer.
"All the credits belong to you". He replied to her and they all laughed.
"Ding, Ding" Everybody sitted in the table had a notification and all bent their head to look at it including mandy.
After looking at it everyone had their eye on Alora.
"What's that?" Alora suddenly became curious.
"Aren't you.....".
Mandy took a spoonful of food and shoved it into the mouth of the lady was about to ask the question that would break Alora
"What's wrong Mandy?"
"Nothing. We have to leave Alora." Mandy said standing up and waving goodbye to everyone at the table
"Mr Rooney, thank you for lunch," Alora said, walking behind Mandy out of the restaurant.
"What was that for mandy. Why did we leave all of a sudden."
"Nothing. Just don't open your phone or check your notifications or answer any calls don't."
"Why," she asked but Mandy ignored her and walked towards the car, opening the door for Alora and herself.
"Get in" Alora obeyed and locked the door behind her.
"I was thinking of passing by Oliver's House before going home. I want to celebrate with him."
"No, let's just go home."
"What's your problem, Mandy? You are not my mom."
"Just listen to me."
"No. I'm checking my notifications. I want to know what you are hiding from me."
"No." Alora ignored and opened her phone to check her notification and was shocked by what she saw.
Headlines: Popular Model Brenda Mason is set to marry her colleague Oliver Lincoln two months from now.
Tears slipped out of Alora's eyes as she continued to read the article. There was a part of the article that was highlighted and that made her very curious.
'Mr. Oliver claims that his ex-girlfriend, Alora Haven cheated on him on several occasions causing their break-up'
"What?" She screamed. When did this even happen? How..
"Stop the car," she yelled.
"Why?" Mandy asked.
"Stop the fucking car already" she screamed louder and Mandy obeyed and before the car could come to a complete halt Alora jumped down and ran.
Alora was Sad, very sad. She always thought Oliver was going to spend the rest of his life with her. Why did he betray her like this.
Announcing an engagement in front of the whole world made her heart hurt but what broke her was that he accused her of cheating as well. He had single handedly ruin her life. She knew her whole fan-base would turn against her. She didn't even want to log into her social media. She already knew what was coming for her
She thought today was going to lead to a positive turn in her career but that was all ruined by the foolish and selfish words of one person or two people. Brenda knew they were dating, so why was she In support of Oliver or maybe it was all Brenda's plan to steal Oliver away from her.
She ran away to avoid anybody seeing her cry, she wanted to be alone and think about her life and how she was going to prove herself innocent not to the world but to him.
She wanted to believe he never said that or that someone lied to him about her.
She still had not stop running. She wanted to be in a place that was empty and lonely just like the way she was feeling.
She was devastated. She thought she had found the perfect person for her, no. She knew she had found the perfect person for her.
He was the only one that she thought understood her. Yes, he was rude to her sometimes but she still loved him regardless.
She knew he loved her too. She was sure someone planted does lies against her. She was sure it was Brenda that said those words to him.
Still clouded in her thoughts she bumped into somebody.
"Watch where you are going" she yelled at the young Man who had a face mask covering his face and a black cap.
The Man stared at her without saying a word.
"So rude." She added rolling her teary eyes, and continued running.
Alora knew she was wrong but she didn't want to apologize and she didn't care about that man. She only cared about Oliver.
She finally came to a halt and broke down in tears on a bench.
Why did he believe what Brenda told him?
Why wasn't he picking her calls?
*ring ring*
Her phone rang out loudly pulling her out of her lonely thoughts.
Oliver?.
She checked the caller and scoffed with a frown on her face.
It was her assigned manager at Brill Management- the modeling company she worked with. She was sure that she Already saw the news and was calling to yell at her and scold her, so she ignored the call and tried calling Oliver again.
She bowed her head, losing hope that he was ever going to answer her.
"Hello. What do you want?." He questioned.
"Oliver, My love" she said with teary eyes.
"What do you want?." He repeated
"I didn't cheat on you I promise. I would never do that. I know Brenda must have lied to you, I know this is her fault, but I swear on my mother's grave I would never cheat on you. My love please believe me" She pleaded. She didn't want her life to be without Oliver.
"Look Alora, don't be so dumb, Move on."
"I can't move on, I don't want to move on. I love you and I know you love me too."
"Do I?. Don't be stupid Alora" and he ended the call.
Alora sat down for a while on a bench around the area and cried for a bit.
She cursed the day she met Brenda Mason.
She cursed the day Oliver met Brenda Mason.
She loved him. She wasn't going to give up on him so easily. One thing her late mother told her was to never give up on the people she loved.
"Why is this happening to me? How can my life turn around in just one day."
She stood up and took on her feet. She was going to speak to Oliver no matter what. She must. He had to forgive her.
"Taxi" she yelled and the yellow vehicle stopped in front of her.
She hopped in and told the driver Oliver's address.
"Aren't you Alora Haven."
"Yes" she stressed hesitantly.
"Can I get an autograph. My daughters a big fan of yours." The driver said with a smile on his face.
Alora doubted that his daughter was still a fan after watching the news or seeing one of those stupid article of lies, but she couldn't reject.
"Okay, where do I sign on" he hurriedly passed her a book and a pen and she carefully signed her autograph handing the book back to the driver and the man zoomed off happily.
She just needed to have a talk with Oliver and understand if he was he fooling her all this while.
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
"We are here ma'am" the driver stopped the vehicle at Oliver's Gate and Alora alighted after paying her fee.
She walked into his apartment building and headed to the elevator.
Oliver's apartment was on the 4th floor.
She was slightly scared because the only words she wanted to here from Oliver where I want you back or I love you. She knew Brenda poisoned his brain, but she wasn't going to give up on her love so easily.
*Ding* The elevator opened and she dragged herself with tears still in her eyes to Oliver's apartment door.
She ringed the doorbell, but got no answer
She tried it again and immediately Oliver opened the door. Music was blaring from inside his apartment. He walked out and locked the door.
"What do you want?!" He yelled at her.
"I... I, Oliver I love you and you love me. Why are you getting married Oliver "
"Don't you get it. I don't love you. I Never Loved you. I don't want to be with you."
"That's not true. That's not true" Alora knew she was making a fool out of herself, but she had never loved anyone the way she loved Oliver.
She grabbed onto Oliver's hands with tears still in her eyes.
"Live with it Alora. I have an engagement party to celebrate. You are really stupid and cheap as well." He pushed her off of him, making her fall on the floor, and headed back inside to enjoy his party.
She really still didn't want to accept it.
Immediately she walked out of the building. She phoned Mandy to come pick her up.
"Are you okay?" Mandy asked worriedly.
"Yeeeah, I'm fine. Just come pick me up. I'm in front of Oliver's building."
"Are you crazy. What are you doing over there?"
"No, I just wanted to talk with him."
"Are you crazy. He fooled you and ruined your reputation and you go crying to his house. Do you really have no pride"
"I need closure more than I need my pride, Okay."
"You really are crazy. I'm coming to pick you up. Don't do anymore stupid things" Alora ended the call and stood outside waiting and thinking.
*ring ring*
It was her manager.
"Hey"
"Alora, what is wrong with you. Why did you ignore all my calls. You are in big trouble with the management. I think they want to terminate your contract."
"What, what do you mean my contract. Why aren't they terminating Brenda's contract. She is the one who caused all this."
"You are the one with a ruined reputation, Brenda is trending on the Internet. If you really didn't want this to happen, maybe you should have closed your legs a little instead of going around cheating on Oliver."
"Arghhh...." Alora screamed. She hated the fact that everyone went with Brenda's side of the story and not hers.
"I'll see you tomorrow afternoon." Alora's Manager said, ending the call.
Alora's tears poured out more with no sign of stopping.
She sat outside the apartment building and waited for Mandy to show up.
"My life is ruined Mandy" immediately Alora got into the car she mumbled.
"It's just a stupid scandal it'll fade away."
"My manager called. The management wants to see me tomorrow and there's a chance my contract will be terminated."
"I'm so sorry. I talked to Mr. Rooney. He promised to help convince Star magazine to use you as their front cover. That's a start right?." Mandy encouraged trying to cheer her up. She knew how hard Alora tried to build a peaceful scandal-free career only to be ruined by a bunch of lies created and made up by a man.
"That's not the worst, Mandy. Oliver claims he never loved me"
"Seriously, are you still hurting over that man. He ruined your life. You should feel nothing but hate and resent for him Okay. I still can't believe you went to his apartment." Mandy hissed as she drove off.
Alora was sitted at the back seat with a frown on her face and tears pouring out of her poor eyes.
This must be a dream. Brenda didn't have the right to lie to Oliver. Oliver didn't have the right to say complete nonsense on TV. They had no right to ruin her career.
"Stop crying. We are going to show them. If they fire you. They are millions of other managments and agency that would love for you to be their model."
"Nobody wants me now. Nobody wants a model who was fired. Why would Oliver say that on TV?"
"Because...He's a sick bastard and you should stop talking about him and talk about what you are going to do to end this stupid scandal about you. Prove yourself innocent then start afresh."
Alora wiped out her years that immediately got replaced by new one.
"I'll prove myself innocent and then start afresh." She repeated.
Immediate they got home. Alora went to bed and fell asleep immediately while mandy searched for modelling agencies that would fit Alora's Niche.
She really felt bad for Alora and now she knew her gut feeling was right. Oliver wasn't a good man. He was heartless and for no reason because Alora had done nothing but love him.
After selecting a good number of options, Mandy went to sleep hoping that the next day Alora would be a little less sad and ready to move on.
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
*Beep Beep Beep*
Alora opened her eyes slowly and turned off the alarm. She covered her head with the blanket to avoid sunrays from entering her eyes and continued her sleep.
She had no intentions of moving from her bed or eating till afternoon when she needed to be at her agency to meet with the management.
"Alora, I'm coming in" Mandy opened her room door with her laptop in her hand.
"Alora, Wake up" she tapped Alora and sat beside her on the bed.
"What is it Mandy. I'm sleeping." She kept her eyes closed and her head still underneath the blanket.
"I spent all night searching for good agencies with better exposure and management and a better contract just incase you get fired."
"What?" She finally pulled the blanket off her.
"I haven't been fired yet." She reminded. There was still a chance that she could keep her job.
"You know you are going to be fired. Brill Management is filled with arrogant and foolish people. Remember when they fired Lawrence Peters for Having an accident, instead of helping him." Mandy reminded her friend. "Just take a look at all this agencies and find the one good enough for you and we'll attend their casting."
"Fine, I'll have a look." Mandy pushed her laptop to Alora and she stared at all the options.
Mandy was really good at her job and all the agencies listed where top agencies that dealed with high class models.
"I like this one." She pointed at the best agency among all of them. Caddell Modeling Management.
It was the best agency in New York, it was runned by an A rated Actor.
"I knew you would. I like it too and you know what you are in luck because their casting is in three days."
"Really?." Alora was surprised and had a small smile on her face.
"Yes, and it's a fair agency and has amazing exposure, and you are an experienced model. You worked with Brill Management for two years. They'll accept you this fast." Mandy snapped her fingers.
"Worked with Brill Management and got fired, It wouldn't help. '' Alora reminded her that getting fired wasn't exactly the best thing to put on her portfolio.
"Whatever. You haven't gotten fired yet. If you get fired good for you and if you don't good for you." They both laughed a little and Alora went back to her sad mood.
"Mandy"
"Hmmm?"
"I don't even want to see Oliver again. Never."
"You won't, I promise. He doesn't deserve to see a beauty like you either" Mandy consoled.
"I just really want to know what I did to him that make him do what he did."
"You did nothing. He's just a bastard and an idiot who deserves nothing but pain"
"Stop" Alora laughed.
"Please don't stop laughing. Now take a shower, take off this outfit and come down for breakfast."
"But I'm not hungry"
"Come down for breakfast." Mandy took her laptop and walked out of Aloras room giving her privacy.
Alora took off her red gown from last night and took a warm shower.
She was going to skip her skincare routine today because she didn't have the will power to do it.
After her shower she put on her robe and walked to the dining room. Where Mandy already served waffles and apples cut into bunny shapes.
"Where did you get the time to cut these. They are so cute." Alora took a piece of the bunny apples and ate it.
"Anything for my bestfriend. Now eat." Alora was hungry since she didn't have dinner, so she hurriedly finished her waffles while she and Mandy talked about the new modeling agency and everything about their casting.
"I really don't want to be fired."
"Brill management gives you 50% of your income, only 50 but Caddel Managment gives you 80%. Its so much better and the exposure and premium deals you'll get is a million times better. I honestly hope you get fired" Mandy laughed.
"There's a chance Caddel won't pick me" Alora reminded.
"There's also a chance you'll get picked. Be positive."
"Yes. I'm going back to bed. When it's early noon we'll leave for the meeting with the Management" Alora stood up and went back to bed.
