Chapter 1 She Wasted Her Good Card

Jonesboro No.1 Hospital.

Margot Horn abruptly lifted her eyelids before a smear of green light came into view. The pungent smell of disinfectant in the air reminded her that she was in a hospital.

She couldn't remember how many times she woke up to smell it.

She stared blankly at the ceiling, took in the new information, and sighed in a moment, "Alas, she wasted her good cards."

The host had fair skin, a pretty face, long legs, and a wealthy family. Such a person should be admired by everyone but became an object of hatred. The dramatic change happened because of her fooleries.

She naively believed in someone who then framed her. Utterly discredited, she was given up by her family.

She had a breakdown and leaped to her death.

Margot sighed silently again and started to think about ways to help the host redeem everything.

The Horns had given up on the host but still cared about their blood. Right after she jumped off the building, they sent her to the hospital and arranged a VIP ward for her, though no one came to visit her.

During her one-month hospitalization, only three nursing workers kept her company.

Margot was discharged from the hospital today. Her good mood was not affected by the fact that no one came to pick her up.

Humming a song, she rocked back and forth as she walked outside. Before she could embrace the brilliant sunshine, a bunch of doctors and nurses hurriedly pushed over a stretcher.

She drew back her open arms and stepped aside before the stretcher went past. All of a sudden, she covered her chest and knitted her brow.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw something red. It was a bloodstain still wet on the floor. She stared at it as her expression went blank.

Noticing her pale face and sickness, the nursing worker asked with concern, "Miss Horn, are you alright?"

Margot snapped out of the trance, waved her hand, turned back, and looked at the patient on the stretcher with gloomy eyes. Her fists clenched as she intended to follow them.

"Margot." Someone suddenly called out softly from behind.

The voice resembled that of her queen mother. Margot froze, abruptly turned back, and saw a noblewoman coming up with a complicated expression.

As she stared blankly at the woman, the latter claimed, "Margot, I'm here to take you home."

When the woman came closer, she suddenly stepped forward and held her, "Qu... mother..."

This woman was the mother of the host and looked like her queen mother.

Margot couldn't remember how many times she had been reborn, but none of those she met resembled her parents or loved ones.

"Margot, um..."

The woman was flabbergasted by the sudden hug. Her daughter had been more and more capricious in the past few years. One year ago, she cut all ties with them and moved out alone.

And now, the girl suddenly held her...

Her queen mother's doppelganger was the mother of the host. To get close to this woman, she had to make amends. This was the only way. Margot tried her best to restrain her emotions, took a deep breath, let go of her mother, took three steps back, and then bowed deeply, "Mom, I'm sorry I was willful and ignorant. I shouldn't have broken the hearts of my father, my brothers, and you. I was wrong."

Chapter 2 Forgive Her Now

Her apology struck Harlow Estrada dumb. Soon afterward, the rims of the lady's eyes reddened, and she started crying.

She cried for a long time, and her heart softened. On the spot, she forgave her prodigal daughter and informed everyone in their family group.

However, the three men unanimously replied, "Do you believe her?"

The host blacklisted everyone and withdrew from the family group after cutting all ties with them. After rejoining the group, she read the reply and cursed the host inwardly.

Harlow noticed her constant gaze at the screen of the phone and believed that the reply had upset her. Before she could comfort her daughter, the latter smiled, "Mom, it's okay, time will prove that I've realized my mistake."

"Absolutely."

"Alright, let's go home."

Margot happily held onto the arm of her mother and got in the car.

With her return, the three men refused to come home with the excuse of their busy work, but her mother insisted. At night, they came back reluctantly.

Margot looked at the three who looked like her king father and brothers. They pulled long faces, but she itched to hug them. After heaving a helpless sigh, she got up and apologized to the three, "Dad, brothers, I'm sorry for breaking your hearts and causing you so much trouble. I was wrong and hope you can forgive me."

They looked at her in shock and found it hard to believe their ears.

Frustrated with their reaction, Harlow glared at them, snapping, "What, say something! Margot apologized. What else do you want? Forgive... her... now!"

Still doubtful, they complied grudgingly under pressure.

At the dining table, the three men skipped their business discussion, quickly finished dinner, and went upstairs.

The food tasted like sawdust in her mouth. Margot sighed again. There seemed to be a long way to go before the three men changed their attitudes.

After dinner, she chatted with her mother for a while. Worried about her health, Harlow urged her to rest.

She pushed open the door, looked at the spotless bedroom, felt helpless about the ignorant host, and rejoiced about her rebirth this time round.

The following day.

As an early bird, Margot got up and cooked a substantial breakfast in the kitchen. When the others went downstairs, the maid and she were serving it on the table.

The maid giggled, "Lady and gentlemen, these are all cooked by Miss Horn."

Following the maid's speech, everyone looked at Margot in disbelief. Their shock was understandable since the original Margot had never cooked before. In fact, she didn't even know how to boil water.

Harlow was the first to react. Her eyes reddened. She came up, grabbed Margot's hand, and shed tears, "Did you have a rough year outside? You even learned to cook?"

Margot shook her head. The stupid host cut all ties with her family but still received substantial money from them each month, so her life outside remained abundant.

She wiped her mother's tears with the tissue. Unlike Harlow, the other three would not turn a blind eye to the truth. She knew it and voiced her pre-prepared excuse, "I often watch cooking programs when I'm bored. Following the steps, I cooked for the first time today. I'm not sure if it's a success."

"Indeed, Miss Horn was holding a laptop to learn it early in the morning, and her hand got sliced."

Chapter 3 How Dare You Hit Me!

Harlow grabbed her hand. Sure enough, a lovely Band-Aid was wrapping around the index finger of her fair, slender left hand.

Margot pretended that she didn't know how to cook and deliberately sliced her flinger pulp.

With the wound and Lilah's testimony, the suspicion in the eyes of the three men faded away. At the dining table, they toughened their scalps and tried the food.

To their surprise, it was not bad.

Even so, they remained silent, quickly finished breakfast, and went to work.

In Margot's view, her effort was not for nothing. Today, she purely cooked for these doppelgangers of her original family.

After breakfast, she went to school.

It had been over a decade since she was a student. In the uniform, she walked on the campus and felt young.

But her illusion was soon shattered by reality.

"Hey, isn't this Miss Horn the slut?"

"Rumor has it you committed suicide. You're tough to still stand."

Margot's eyes went dim as she looked over at the noise maker. With a disdainful face, a girl led another two who just poured ridicule on her, "Let's go. Don't go down and talk with a dirty slut."

It was school time, and the scene attracted more students to point at her and say all kinds of nasty things. The two initiators of the trouble got cockier. They pushed their classmate away and raised their chins, "Why should we? This shameless slut should go. Her presence has polluted the entire campus and made people sick wherever she goes."

"Yeah, such a dirty swine should be expelled. Why is she still at school?"

Margot ran her cold eyes over those insulters before looking fixedly at the most arrogant girl.

The girl coughed and spat on her shoes.

Margot stared at the saliva, and a smirk appeared on her lips.

She knew that she couldn't confront so many people but felt sick of the harsh voices. The only way to stop this was to punish the ringleader.

It happened that someone volunteered.

Without further ado, she pushed her hair back, curled her lips, and walked to the spitter. All arrogant, the girl held her chin high, about to shout abuse.

The moment she opened her mouth, Margot slapped her, making a crispy sound.

Her sudden action shocked everyone. Dazed for a while, the girl squealed, "Ah... Margot, you bitch! How dare you hit me!"

The girl pounced on her. Margot took two steps back and lifted her right foot to trip the girl.

Then she ran her eyes over the crowd and stated in a gentle voice, "I'll say this just once. If I hear such comments again, you'll face my wrath."

"You're flaunting. You think you're still a rich lady? Lay a finger on me, I dare you."

"Yeah, do you know who you just hit? A call from her father will make your life a living hell!"

Margot chuckled, looked at the beaten girl who eyed her murderously, and stated unhurriedly, "Your family? Tell me about it. Is your father really that powerful? Would you tell him who I am before he makes my life a living hell?"
