Chapter 1 1. Moving To Forks

ALEXA

When I first arrived in Forks, I never expected any changes in my life.

However, I was wrong when I met that mysterious, gloomy boy: Nicholas Alexander.

"So, how is it? Did you finally choose me over that dog?"

"Oh, shut up, Nicho!"

March 12, 2024

It should be sunny or something in Australia, but if it's in Forks, it will be gloomy and rainy all day.

"Oh, rain, rain, go away," I recited, looking at the muddy streets of Fordland-the most gloomy area in Forks. I occasionally wrinkled my nose as my mother's sedan passed over the rocks.

"Come on, Alexa, it shouldn't be that bad to stay temporarily at your father's house. There's Jacob there. You used to have a crush on him, didn't you?"

"Well, yes, until you married his dad!!!" I replied sharply. I felt angry when I remembered that incident. "Because you married his dad, I had to bury my feelings! There's no way I can date and have a forbidden feeling with my stepbrother. This isn't a novel!"

"Well, yeah, sure...whatever," my mother rolled her eyes lazily. "At least now I'm divorced from him. Your status should be friends, instead of stepbrother."

And with that, my mother stepped on the gas and increased her speed.

Neither of us wanted to discuss this endless problem.

+++

It wasn't long until we actually arrived at Jacob's residence.

"It's really giving off his vibe, I see," I thought, getting out of the car while looking at this classic American-style house. Despite being the Forks head sheriff, Jacob's father really likes hunting, so it's normal if his house is brown and a bit dark.

"There's even a furry carpet as a welcome, is that his hunting result-" "Alexa!!!"

"Huh?"

Suddenly, a pair of muscular tan hands hugged me from behind. I blushed when I smelled the familiar cedarwood scent, and feeling his toned abs, I knew who it was.

"Jacob..." I called in a breath. Jacob grinned widely, and his perfect chiseled jaw still rested on my shoulder.

"Hi, step, long time no see," he whispered in my ear. I giggled when I felt him sniffing my neck playfully, and I fucking didn't remember when he was this sensual. "I saw the car and only saw you. Where's Mama?"

"Mama?" I looked left and right and spotted her talking with my ex-stepdad. From the way they talked to each other, I knew that their conversation was awkward, and maybe my mother hoped to get back together.

"Well, it seems they're talking about adult things. You know what I mean. I don't even know why your father divorced her in the first place," I said without taking my eyes off them.

Jacob sighed. "Yeah, I know. But that's adults. If only they could think in the wild side...." Jacob's last words made me frown. "Anyway, I've transformed the guest room to your liking. Why don't you put your stuff there first? I can give you a hand to arrange it since I'm free."

"Okay, sure." Then, Jacob escorted me. However, it didn't end as an escort because Jacob suddenly lifted me up!

"Hey, put me down!!!"

+++

The ride to the guest room was a pain in the ass because we had to climb the stairs.

Jacob threw me on the bed, and soon, he threw himself on me too.

"Oh gosh...Alexa...Since when have you been this heavy?? Is the food in Australia that good? You don't eat too many burgers, right?" Jacob asked, panting, and was immediately rewarded with a punch in the stomach by me.

"Hey!!!"

"First of all, Australia is not America, idiot. So we explored a lot of food there, and secondly..." I looked at him sharply before rolling and throwing my whole body on top of him.

"How dare you say I'm fat??? Have you forgotten that the last time we met was when we were 14 years old? I'm now fucking 19 years old, dumbass!"

"Okay, okay, you win, sweetheart! Now can you please get off me? I'm almost suffocating with your prettiness!" Then I let go of him.

I smiled, knowing that I won against him.

"Anyway, are you now..." "Jacob!! Get your ass down here!! Your barbells are blocking the way!!"

"Okay, Dad!!" Jacob shouted, getting up lazily from the bed. "Tsk, since he became the sheriff captain, he's become more fussy. You're lucky your mom got divorced when he was still a beaver sheriff."

"Well, if your father had been the head sheriff from the start, then my mother would have never let go. You know how she likes 'rough' men, especially in bed," I said sarcastically, which made Jacob snort.

"Well, yeah, I know," Jacob said before straightening his shirt. I just realized it was unbuttoned to his chest. "But I hope you like a soft passionate boy, because I...

A passionate one."

And Jacob quickly left. I blushed, clearly dumbfounded by his meaning.

"Is that a flirt?" I thought, before shaking my head. Reminding myself that Jacob is just my ex-stepbrother, and that I will stay here until July, so I...

Must not get involved in a forbidden relationship for 6 months.

"I better get some sleep now. It's been a long day," I thought, remembering that tomorrow there are many things to do at school. Since I will be in Forks for 6 months, I have to go to a temporary school, and I still don't know the school model and what subjects to take, or if there's very no, no teacher.

"I can only pray now. I just hope to get good friends and good teachers," I thought before turning off the light and getting into bed. I smiled a little when I saw stars on the ceiling.

Jacob must have prepared it because he knew I was afraid of the dark.

"If only he wasn't my ex-stepbrother..." I thought, making myself comfortable in bed, and sniffing the pillow with Jacob's body scent. Preparing to welcome the dreamless sleep.

However, I couldn't help but see a light from a window. And I swore that the light was red and like someone's eyes.

Chapter 2 2. The Psychic Prince

ALEXA

The next day was way more chaotic than yesterday, and now I felt like I wanted to be angry with Jacob!

"Hey, Alexa. Should I wear-"

"Just wear the fucking blue or purple, Jacob! It's all the same. All your clothes are shirts anyway."

+++

Upon arriving at my new school, I immediately got unpleasant glances from the teachers and staff, but I couldn't blame them-I was a new student, and I was late on my first day!!

"Miss Alexa Nicky, I see," said the middle-aged staff, giving me a barrage of side-eye. I winced when I heard how loudly she stamped my papers before handing them to me. "Okay, since you're late, you'll be in physics class, and your teacher is Mr. Aria. Just go straight down the hallway and up the stairs. Your class is at the top."

"Alright, thank you, Mrs. Dawson," I bowed and quickly left. Although I hated physics.

It didn't take long, and with a lot of physical effort, I arrived at the physics class.

"Oh, so you're here. Welcome to the class. A-later! You can sit beside Grumpy. If you had come earlier, maybe you could have gotten a seat in the back, which is quite popular."

"Alright, thank you, Mr. Aria," I replied, quickly sitting next to the bespectacled nerd he pointed out. Just like his name, he was grumpy, and I didn't expect him to grumble so much.

"Do I have to sit with him for a whole semester-" "Oh, look! The physics prince is here!"

"Gosh, I haven't seen him in a long time. I heard he was at the Olympics in Paris? He's even more handsome now!" Physics prince?

And when I turned to the entrance, I saw a boy quickly entering with an indifferent look. Unlike the geek beside me, that boy was quite hot. His face was to my liking, but a bit too pale.

He had slightly disheveled raven black hair, with a body about 5'83 feet. Not as big as Jacob, but it looked good with my height. His body was lean, and his hands had prominent veins, which meant he worked out to get that body. His shoulders were broad, which looked good with his legs that were longer than his waist. But what I liked most about him were his focused black eyes-They were very sharp, and when our eyes accidentally met...

I felt like his whole focus was on me, like I was the only thing that mattered here.

"Was he a vampire? Why did he seem like he jumped straight out of a novel and-" "Hey, Alexa!! Stop squeezing me! It hurts!!"

"Huh?" I looked at the pained Grumpy, before looking down.

Gosh!! Since when did I step on his foot?!

"Oh, sorry!!" I said, cursing myself as I moved my foot away. Good job, Alexa. Good job. Your first day at school, and you've already caused a lot of trouble.

But why did that vampire boy seem to be laughing though...

Soon, the bell rang, and it was lunch time before I knew it. Right now, I was eating in the canteen, and I was grateful that Grumpy was nice enough to introduce me to his group.

"Oh, so Alexa is a new student, huh? Well, welcome to America. How's life here? No maple syrup or skiing like in Australia?"

"Well, I think you mean Canada, while I'm Australian. But nah, it's good. So far, I'm happy to have met good friends," I said, trying to be friendly. Betty, the blonde girl in front of me, who couldn't tell the difference between Australia and Canada, immediately laughed at my friendliness.

"Haha, well, glad to hear it! I'm also very happy that this new student is sociable and not as stiff as I imagined," she said genuinely, but Grumpy nudged me.

"I know you're just being sarcastic." Gosh, was Grumpy a blunt person?

"Anyway, since you're new here, how about I introduce you to everyone?" Betty asked, moving closer to me.

"Introduce me to everyone? Do we greet them one by one?" I asked, which was immediately answered with laughter. Gosh. Why did this blonde girl keep laughing?

"No, silly, but by gossip," she said, pointing towards an overdressed girl who looked like the school's drama queen. "You see that girl over there? I know you think she's a drama queen, but she's not! She's just a sugar baby, and her sugar daddy is Mr. Aria!"

"Okay..." I replied, starting to get a bit invested in this introduction. "What about that hot guy sitting at the dining table, looking lonely and studying? Is he a loser?" I thought, kind of hoping he was, because approaching a loser was easier than a popular person.

"Oh, that?" Betty started whispering. "He's not a loser, but in fact, the opposite! He's the school's asset, and about being lonely..."

Betty sighed as if it was something tragic. "Actually, he used to have a lot of friends. He was the school's jock, but since he dated a cheerleader, he's become like this. The cheerleader is so possessive and mean, and her parents are lawyers, so he can't go anywhere."

"Oh..."

And my conversation with Betty started to flow naturally. Sometimes Grumpy also joined in because he had a lot of comments about the kids and their secrets at this school.

"Turns out, this school isn't too bad...luckily, the friends are good," I thought, before getting more and more invested in this introduction, and just then, a familiar face appeared, and I immediately asked about him without thinking twice.

"And who is that vampire boy? He looks gloomy, and he's called the physics prince! Did he win Mr. Aria's heart-" "Sstt!!! Don't talk loud about Nicholas Alexander!"

"Huh?" I frowned when I heard Betty shush me, however her face, which had looked so excited, now looked a bit horrified. Even Grumpy was pale.

"You can talk or ask about anything besides Nicholas Alexander, because he's off-limits, okay?" Betty explained, but that made my frown deepen, and I got even more curious.

"Off-limits? But why?" I thought, glancing slightly at Nicholas, who was busy playing a game on his phone. It was break time, but he didn't seem to have an appetite for food and was only playing games. "Is he some kind of sugar son or way worse than that?"

"Well, of course, worse than anything because he-" "Look out!!!"

Just as I turned, I saw a chubby guy in front of me trip over a bulky student who was said to be a "bully", however it wasn't his fat that caught my attention, but his belongings-his soup was about to fall and spill on me!

"Oh fuck," I closed my eyes because I couldn't avoid it. I was flanked by Betty and Grumpy, and by the time they moved away, it would be too late for me!

Just as I started to resign myself to fate and curse my first day...I felt a strong gust of wind on me, and within a second, a pale hand hugged me.

I was shocked when I saw it was Nicholas Alexander.

"Nicho..." CRASH!!!

"Quick!! Call a teacher! A student has been splashed with hot soup!!"

Chapter 3 3. Why No One See Him

ALEXA

Time seemed to stop when Nicholas hugged me, and within a second, the soup splashed onto that pale body.

"ACKHH!!!" "NICHO!!!!"

I immediately stood up and examined his back, and I was horrified. His neck was red and blistered!!

"Gosh! This is burned and looks serious, let's get you to-" and before I finished my sentence, the school nurse arrived, seemingly called by one of the students. But Nicholas Alexander brushed me aside and walked away quickly, leaving me behind.

"..."

"Did he just glare?" I thought, looking at him strangely, before Betty and Grumpy swarmed me.

"Gosh!! Alexa! Are you hurt? Are you overheating?? Are you okay?"

"Fuck!! Your hand is red! You must have been splashed!!"

"Well..." before I could explain to them that I was fine, the school nurse came to get me. But one thing made me curious, but I didn't want to ask them...

Why did they seem to not see Nicho helping me earlier?

"Even the students didn't ask about Nicho. Is he ostracized?" I thought before being led away.

+++

Just a minor burn with barely a coin-sized mark on my hand. That's the diagnosis.

"You are very lucky, and this is an ointment in case it suddenly stings."

"Okay, thanks," I mumbled, before leaving the nurse's office, and right outside, my best friends for the next 6 months-Grumpy and Betty-were waiting for me.

"So how is it?? Is the burn serious?? You didn't need to go to the hospital, right?" Betty asked, turning my hand over, and I could only give an awkward smile.

"No, Betty, it's fine! Don't worry about it," I said, pulling my hand away forcefully. I felt uncomfortable with all this sudden attention. "I'm okay, and if I'm not, I will tell you straight about it."

"Okay then..." Betty sighed, although a hint of worry was still visible on her face.

Then, we continued our journey to class down the hallway. But I noticed how what was once a lively atmosphere had become awkward due to the spilled soup incident.

"Anyway, Betty. You said Nicholas Alexander was the worst of all, why did you say that?" I asked, suddenly remembering the earlier topic.

"I'm sorry, but who do you mean by Nicholas Alexander?"

"Huh?" I frowned when I heard her answer. I thought it was a joke, although I didn't see any sign of her pretending not to know Nicholas Alexander. But when I looked at Betty and Grumpy's confused faces...

I knew they weren't joking.

"There's no one named Nicholas Alexander here, is that someone from your old school? Maybe you had a concussion, why don't we check if your memories are mixed up-"

"No, thank you, and I'm good," I said, stopping Grumpy's speculation. "Why don't we just walk quickly to class? I don't want to be late again since I've already been late too many times."

"Oh, okay." Then the three of us quickened our pace to class.

"Why don't they remember Nicholas Alexander..."

+++

School ended, and I saw Jacob's Land Rover parked in front of my school.

"Jacob!!" I called, running towards him. Jacob immediately looked at me, and I swear I heard jealous squeaks from the girls because he grinned.

"Oh, hey, Alexa! Ready to hop in?" he asked, offering his hand, which I immediately took to climb into the car. I swore I heard the girls squeak again.

"Anyway, there's no food at home. Want to grab a pizza? I have some vouchers that fit your favorite menu here," he said, taking out the voucher coupons. I grinned and purposely pecked his cheek. I somehow enjoyed seeing those girls go even crazier and jealous, but I didn't understand why Jacob's face turned red.

"Alright, sure," I grinned, putting on my seatbelt. "But remember, I don't want to pay any penny. No matter how small it is."

"Okay," then he stepped on the gas, and the car sped away. I don't know why his cheeks were now red all the way to his ears.

Were there mosquitoes swarming the Land Rover?

As we arrived at the pizza place, we immediately lined up and ordered our menus. There was a mini-debate between me and Jacob because he wanted pineapple pizza because it was as exotic as him, but I, as an Italian food lover, chose cheese lover.

Of course, in the end, we picked neither of those but American lovers. Just like the good old times.

"Hey, what happened to your hand?"

"Oh, this?" I asked, pointing to the burn on my hand. Now that the wound was exposed to the air, it was visible that it was very red.

"It's because-" "Look out!!"

Suddenly, a waiter tripped over some kids. The pitcher of lemonade on his tray was about to spill on me!

"Shit!!" I cursed, trying to avoid it, but once again I was trapped because on my right was the wall and on my left was the waiter. I closed my eyes, about to resign myself to my fate of being spilled on again. However, before that happened, a pair of strong arms hugged me.

"Nicho?" I mumbled, seeing my savior and shocked to see it was Jacob.

CRASH!!!

"Hey, use your eyes when you walk, what if your tray had hot water??" Jacob barked, scolding the fallen waiter. The waiter kept apologizing on the floor, while the kids looked scared and cried for his mama.

"Jacob..." Grep!! "Let's get you cleaned up, there's peaches in your hair," Jacob said, and with that, he pulled me to the sink.

I swayed and just followed him because I was shocked, but a question crossed my mind: Why do I keep thinking about Nicholas Alexander though?

"I barely even know him..." I mumbled, before walking faster as the peachy water started to feel sticky.

After the little drama at the pizza place, the rest of the day became fun. Since Jacob's clothes were the most soaked, we thought about buying some because the house was quite far away, but it turned out the stores rarely sold his size because he was 6 '1''. Not to mention that his body was also fucking bulky, so he ended up walking around naked all day. Only in jeans.

"And he's naked until now..." I thought, blushing as we left the arcade game. Since we had already searched for clothes for 2 hours, Jacob decided to end the search and have fun at his favorite arcade. But I couldn't stand it because his arm clung to my shoulder, which drew everyone's attention!

"So today was fun, huh? Never thought that one day I would play here with Alexa Nicky..." he smirked, opening the car door. I gladly entered it because I was finally free from his arm.

"Yeah, same. This place is fun, although I wouldn't visit it alone," I said, before Jacob turned on the car engine and we sped away.

As we were on our way home, I occasionally looked at Jacob and noticed how much he had changed since we first met.

"He's no longer the brat he used to be, huh?" I thought, remembering Jacob's face when I first had a crush on him. Back then, I remember how Jacob seemed like he jumped straight out of an old teen movie. Lean, and old money child-like, but now he seemed to have changed his appearance, and kinda looked like a lifeguard. But meh, whatever he did, he still looked hot.

'It's a part of adultery after all...' "So, Alexa...How's your life in Oz? Any crushes, chasers, or boyfriends?"

"Boyfriends?" I asked before scoffing. "Nah, no boyfriends. Busy with study and only child life. Why do you think someone like me can have a boyfriend? I ain't attractive," I said honestly. I can't even have your heart, Jacob. What do you expect of me?

"Unattractive, who says that?" Jacob asked before honking at the car in front of him and speeding up. "You are attractive, and any boy who gets you will be lucky."

"Why do you think so lowly of yourself? What if there's a boy out there who secretly likes you?"

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," I brushed off, rolling my eyes. "If that happened, then the boy must be blind. I didn't even get my mom's beauty genes, but my dad's ugly genes." Then, our car ride continued in silence. It was really silent, and I noticed how Jacob tightened his grip on the steering wheel.

"Why does he look so tense though?" I thought about breaking the silence by maybe asking him about his own crush, but before that happened, I saw a black flash in front of us, and before we knew it, we hit it!!

"Shit!! We hit someone," I said, shocked, and immediately got out, and I was even more shocked to see that we had just hit...

Nicholas Alexander?

"...Nicho?"

GREP!

"Don't touch him! He's a corpse!"
