Author: : SeraphRoyale
Genre: Werewolf
A prophecy. A forbidden bond. A kingdom on the edge of ruin. When a deadly force threatens the werewolf kingdom, only the Alpha King's mate can stop it. But Kai, the cold and ruthless Alpha, wants nothing to do with mates-especially not a fragile human like Akira. Haunted by her past and hunted by creatures no one believes exist, Akira is thrown into a world where she's feared, hated, and marked for death. Yet within her lies a power long forgotten-a truth that could either save or destroy them all. As Kai fights his growing bond with her, Akira must uncover her true identity and decide: will she fulfill her destiny, or follow her heart-even if it leads to the man who once vowed to destroy her kind?

Chapter 1 How it all began

In a dimly lit room, three men and a woman sat around a fire anxiously staring at Elder Silas Orion, the Wizard.

He opened his eyes and the once blazing flame died. The entire structure they were seated in shook with great force.

"What did you see, Orion?" One of the three men asked.

"Bad times are upon us, your majesty," Orion answered.

"Oh my!" Gasped the woman In their midst sharply.

The man who asked the question immediately wrapped his hands around her shoulder to comfort her.

This was not the time to be emotional, but he let her be.

"Tell us what you saw Orion," his cold deep voice urged impatiently.

"The number one enemy of your kind is going to get a new force; one so powerful that it would be unaffected by their weakness and be able to kill lycans and werewolves," Orion revealed.

"What I saw showed that if the savior isn't found soon, this force will destroy your kind and will be the end of all lycans as we know it."

"I won't let that happen!" the same deep voice said sharply. "Who is the one who can save us?" he asked.

"Your mate, Alpha," Orion answered, his tone turning to one of warning. "She is the only one who can save us and I suggest you take finding your mate seriously as the danger looms upon us."

The man scowled deeply upon hearing what the wizard said. "I am a lycan, Orion and not just any lycan, the supreme one, are you saying that I can't take care of that evil force and protect my people?" he sneered, his blue eyes slowly turning dark.

"Alpha, please calm down," Orion quickly said when he saw the change in the colour of the man's eyes.

He could tell that his lycan had been offended by his words and was fighting to come out.

"I am only saying what I saw in my vision. You are a very powerful lycan and there's no doubt about that but you cannot defeat this force for some reason and I can guarantee you that it's not because of power," Alphaeus tried to explain.

The beautiful blue of his eyes turned normal, his Lycan had been appeased.

"Only your mate can stop this force of the rogues from becoming stronger and destroying the pack," Orion stated.

The man frowned.

Finding a mate was the last thing on his mind

He knew the commitments that came with being mated but that was the least of his problem.

He knew his position came with a cost and that might include his mate, a risk he was not willing to take.

He knew how he would rampage if anything was to happen to his mate.

But, there was a sense of duty before him. It came first.

He was the supreme alpha and his people came first.

At the thought of finding their mate, his lycan started pacing in his head, as he was happy.

"Ok then Orion, I'm going to find my mate," he finally said.

..................

The road stretched out before her, dark and endless, swallowed by the thick shadows of towering trees and Akira tightened her

She hated traveling, especially at night but she had no choice as she had just received a job offer, one that enabled her to run away from her terrible past.

Howl! A howl pierced the air.

It wasn't a normal wolf's cry. It was deeper, rougher, like something twisted and unnatural. Akira's foot faltered on the gas pedal as her heart slammed against her ribs as that sound was familiar.

It was one that had plagued her nightmare for years. A cold shiver crawled down her spine, and in an instant, she was no longer in her car.

She was twelve again, strapped into the back seat of her parents' car. The night had been quiet then too-until it wasn't.

The howls came first. Then the creatures.

They looked like wolves but then again they didn't. Their limbs had been too long, their fur patchy and slick like rotting flesh. Glowing eyes, too intelligent, too cruel. They had moved like nightmares, tearing into metal as though it were paper.

Her mother's scream.

Her father's shout.

The sickening crunch of impact.

Then-darkness.

Akira gasped as reality came crashing back. Her vision blurred, breath coming too fast, too shallow. Her hands trembled on the wheel. She couldn't breathe. The howl had been real. She had heard it.

But that wasn't possible.

She swallowed hard, forcing air into her lungs, blinking rapidly to clear her head.

No one had ever believed her when she told them what she saw that night. They had called it hallucinations. Possession. A curse. Some blamed her for what happened to her parents, whispering about the bad luck that always seemed to follow her.

And now, hearing that same inhuman howl after all these years, she couldn't ignore the terrifying thought clawing at the back of her mind.

She felt like she was being watched and.the thought made her gulp and she stepped on the gas pedal itching to get to her destination.

A loud thud shattered the tense silence and something dropped right in front of her car.

Akira's instincts took over. She jerked the wheel to the side, tires screeching as the car veered off the road. Her heart pounded wildly as she struggled to regain control, the vehicle skidding over gravel before jolting to a stop.

For a moment, she sat frozen, breath ragged, hands shaking against the wheel. Her mind raced-was it an animal? A branch? Or... something else?

The thought made her blood run cold.

Swallowing the fear tightening her throat, she shoved the door open and rushed out. The night air was thick and heavy, pressing against her skin as she took hesitant steps toward whatever had fallen. Her pulse roared in her ears, but she had to know.

Then she saw them.

Her breath caught and the colour drained from her face.

It was them.

The creatures from her nightmares.

The same grotesque, deformed beings that had torn through her parents' car all those years ago. Their limbs were still too long, their skin stretched too thin over unnatural frames. Their eyes gleamed under the moonlight-too bright, too knowing, filled with something far worse than animalistic hunger.

Akira's stomach lurched.

She had spent years convincing herself that maybe-just maybe-everyone had been right. That it had all been some fevered delusion, a child's fractured mind trying to make sense of tragedy.

But now, as she stood face to face with the monsters she had tried to forget, there was no denying it.

They were real.

They were staring right at her and there was no mistaking that they were out for her blood.

Without thinking, she turned and began to run back to her car.

She was fast, but those bloodthirsty creatures were out for blood and eventually one of them caught up with her and with one wave of hands....paws she was up in the air, her feet dangling from the air as she struggled to breath.

She wanted to scream for help but who would hear her?.

No one cared,no one knew about her whereabouts. She was all alone in this cruel world.

She surrendered there and then, she was not going to fight the darkness.

To Akira all hope was lost, that was till she heard the roar that startled the monsters that held her into letting her go.

Before her stood one of the most beautiful creatures she'd ever seen

Before her stood the most beautiful creatures she had ever seen since these monsters.

It was Massive, muscular, and powerful, with a thick, dark gray coat and piercing yellow eyes.

A monster that she was willing to trust.

His broad shoulders, sharp claws, and razor-sharp teeth exuded such dominance and strength that had the creatures that were attacking her run for their lives.

It became clear to her that she did not want to die.

Chapter 2 Eye of the storm

Kai woke up that morning irritated, this could only be linked to own things. His inner wolf.

It was even worse as he was unable to figure out what the problem was.

"Fuck!" He cursed as he got out of bed that morning.

A slight knock on his door made his wolf even more enraged.

Everything got on his nerves that morning.

"Come on in." He said in a low husky voice.

"Good morning Kai." Rune greeted me.

Rune was a lost lycan turned friend who had lost his family to those filthy monster, houndras.

Terrifying monsters that had troubled the mundane and the lycan realm for years.

"What do you want?" He thundered.

Rune knew Kai all too well.

"I am sorry to disturb you , but I brought the annual report just as you requested." Rune said bowing slightly as he handed the tablet with the yearly report to Kai.

"Hundred years!" Kai thundered as he flung the tablet against the wall.

Rune ducked quickly as he avoided being hit in the head.

"I am sorry sir, but we need you to be calm for this sir, we are almost at the verge of being discovered here, the houndras are on our trails and there are rumours of their sightings around the city."

Kai's anger softened.

"A hundred years after the prophecy, still no mate, no saviour. I am starting to think that we are doomed!"

"We are having another gala today, hopefully you find the one that you seek." Rune answered.

"But you can't do that, not in this mood of yours."

Kai's eyes burned with rage but he could not deny the fact that Rune was making sense.

He had given up a long time ago about finding this mate but he pushed on because of the prophecy.

"Fine!" Kai said as he got dressed, "I will be going for a run in the woods, I will be leaving my phone here to ensure that I am not disturbed."

Rune mumbled under his breath and that caught the attention of Kai.

"What is it this time?" He asked

Rune hesitated but spoke up, "you can't go to the woods, that's the exact place where the rumored sightings have been said to happen."

Kai's inner wolf was not having any of it, he craved some sort of relief from this rage.

"Drive me to the countryside instead." Kai requested.

"That should be better my lord, but I seriously advise that we do not leave the safety of the pack house....."

"Enough!"

"Yes my lord." Rune said as he hurried out the room to have the car ready.

They made their way out of the pack house and took a long road away from the woods out to the countryside.

Kai's inner wolf was still troubled, something did not sit right with him.

Even worse, something did not smell nice.

"What exactly is it that you want?" Kai muttered as he asked his inner wolf what the problem was.

"Is anything the matter lord?" Rune asked with his eyes focused on the road.

"Nothing,just drive."

They drove in silence for a while with nothing exciting happening till it made sense to Kai.

"Houndras!" He growled.

"Huh?" Rune said, confused, there was none in sight, at least nine that he could see.

"Stop the car now!" Kai ordered, "turn it around."

Rune did his absolute best trying to stop a car moving at that speed but all he did was swerve and stop a few inches in front of a car being attacked by houndras.

Kai's rage knew no bounds, he absolutely hated those creatures.

They had destroyed lives, homes, civilizations and now they had made their way into his own city after years of keeping them out.

He growled "Unlock the door!"

Rune obeyed immediately as he stepped out to fight when he was hit with a scent different from that of the houndras.

The scent was like a symphony of wildflowers on a warm summer breeze – sweet, yet subtle, with hints of honey and rose petals.

The aroma wrapped around him like a gentle caress, awakening a primal longing within.

As he inhaled deeper, the scent of vanilla and caramel wafted up, mingling with the musky undertones of skin, leaving him breathless and yearning for more.

"Is anything the problem?" Rune asked as he observed that he stood.

"There is a human around here, find her." Kai answered.

He immediately transformed into his Lycan as he charged at the houndras.

They were no match for him. In a Matter of minutes they were all dismembered.

"There's more of them here my lord."Rune called out.

Kai moved like lightning towards the human and let out a loud roar that drew the attention of the houndras around her.

Just like the previous ones, he defeated them easily and rushed to the human lady.

She was drifting in and out of consciousness.

"Thank you..." she muttered.

He felt his breath freeze.

This was a human, he was certain that she was.

Humans didn't have the ability to see otherworldly creatures.

"How did she?" Kia asked Rune who was still in his human form.

Rune shrugged his shoulders, a sign that he was just as confused as Kai was.

The woman let out a loud yelp as she fell into Kai's hands.

The world was full of surprises but nothing would have prepared Kai for what would happen next.

"Mate!" His inner wolf cried as it growled in satisfaction.

He could feel the pull, the connection that held them both together.

He should have known for the moment he could smell her from a mile away.

His wolf wanted her And it wanted her now but he didn't.

She was human.

He held her tightly in his hands, still confused on what to do.

His wolf never lied, but what is he to do with a human?

Kai hated humans, if there was anything else that he hated after houndras, it was humans.

And there he was, holding one in his hands and to make it worse, he was mated to this particular one.

"Should we be concerned that she could see the houndras and you in your form?" Rune asked.

Kai's head was in chaos, "we need to get her to safety first, she's been wounded and she " He said, "find out something about her, she should have her id in her bag or something."

Rune dashed to the car and in a matter of minutes he was back.

"There's nothing."

Kai sighed. He did not want to take this human back to his pack.

"I know what to do, go on, start the car."

They all hopped in as they drove away from the scene.

It was only a matter of time before the human rescue services arrived.

"Rune..." Kai called, "I need you to find out everything about this lady and no other person should know about this" he ordered.

"Yes sir."

As they drove Kai was torn between the longing of his inner wolf to have a mate, his hatred for the human species, the ability of this human to see him in his Lycan form and what he was going to do with the already fulfilling prophecy.

Chapter 3 Deja vu

Chapter there.

"Fuck fuck fuck!" Akira cursed as she walked through the door.

"You're late." A man dressed in a fancy suit called out to her, "you are Akira greyhound are you not?" He asked.

She nodded slowly.

"The boss is not to be trifled with, I already know how this is going to end with you being late and all, but I want to give you that chance." He said.

"Thank you sir." Akira said as she struggled to hold the file firmly with her hands.

"Don't thank me And goodluck, you are going to need it."

Akira barely managed to keep composing herself.

A lot of things had happened and they were happening quickly.

She did not expect to open her eyes this morning and she did not even expect to open them in the strange room she awakened in.

She had managed to take a bath and get here for the job interview.

She was not prepared, she did not believe she would get this far.

The interviewer pushed the elevator button and the door slid open.

"You're on your own now." He said as the door slid shut.

She sighed as the elevator went up slowly and opened before the door of the boss's office.

She gave three soft knocks at the door and waited for a reply.

She felt her knees tremble when the boss replied "come in" with a deep intimidating voice.

"Here goes nothing..." she said as she pushed the door open.

"Good morning sir, my name is Akira Greyhound and I am from....."

Her jaw dropped open along with the files in her hands.

Before her sat the same man who had rescued her from those monsters yesterday.

"Nervous?" He asked as he briefly looked at her.

Akira was speechless, obviously traumatized from yesterday's incident and even more lost as the same man who saved her yesterday.

"I am not sir..."

"Then put your act together, let's not even begin on the fact that you are already late to your job interview." Kai fired from his seat.

Akira was visibly shaken but she still managed to let out a few words,"I am so sorry sir, I had a very horrible day yesterday and I did not ...."

"Leave!" Kai ordered.

Akira stood there, wondering what she might have done wrongly.

Kai on the other hand was impatient, "leave, I can't stand people who give excuses....leave or I call the security on you."

..........

His inner wolf was giddy, and he knew just why.

How did she find him?

The moment she was within his vicinity he smelt her, that warm inviting earthy scent that he smelt yesterday.

It was not easy to forget what your mate smelt like.

He had hoped she was just passing by his environment but he lost it the moment she walked into his office.

He thought he had taken care of her by sending her away but his inner wolf was not having any of it.

He knew that peace would elude him as long as he kept her away.

He was going to find a way to keep her close and far from him all the same.

She was his mate, but the prophecy never said anything about him accepting her.

That was one chance he was willing to take.

He grabbed the phone next to him, "Rune,I have clues for you on that lady yesterday..."

He paused, "yes rune, the one we rescued from the houndras... her name is Akira, Akira greyhound. Dig deeper into her origin and tell me all about it!

The line went dead as he sat back in his chair, waiting.

.........

Akira dragged herself back to the room she woke up in, she managed to find her way back there and she had made up her mind to leave the following morning.

There was nothing keeping her here.

She blamed herself, she had heard stories of the CEO who was ruthless to everyone around him.

How did she expect him to be any different towards her?

She had had enough.

She did not expect him to be the same man who had rescued her.

A lot of questions ran through her mind as she brewed herself a small pot of tea.

"Why did he treat me this way if he was the same person who rescued me?"

"Who owns this apartment and was he the one who kept me here?"

The whistling kettle brought her back to reality, her tea was ready.

All she had left in the entire world was the breath in her lungs, even her sanity was beginning to fail her.

She sat in her sipping tea till nighttime before she fell asleep.

Suddenly her eyes flung open, something was not right and she was not alone.

There was someone else in the house with her.

"Hello?" She asked as she could have sworn to hear footsteps pace around the house.

There was no response and even that was some sort of response.

Her heartbeat quickened as she tried to grab hold of her phone to call for help.

She stood staring into the dark neck when she felt a warm breath just behind her back.

She shivered as chills ran down her spine.

She turned immediately and fell to the ground as she saw the same creature that rescued her from those monsters.

They were both monsters but this one was different from the rest.

"Oh no!" She whimpered.

"You can see me?" The monster spoke.

In fear she covered her face with her hands, obviously frightened by the talking monster.

"Look at me!" It ordered, humans should not be able to see creatures from his realm but this one could.

Shevfir stranger and stranger with each passing moment.

She obeyed and she watched him transform, slowly the fur that surrounded him faded to reveal skin. Clean, spotless and it glowed in the moonlight.

The long nuzzle disappeared and left in its place a chiseled jawline and a stubble chin.

The one hair wolf creature transformed into the most handsome man she had ever seen.

Not only was this man handsome and naked,it was the same boss who was kicked out of the office.

"Please do not harm me..." she pleaded, "I am sorry that I ruined your vase earlier today at the office, I promise to pay for it, just don't harm me!"

Kai wanted to get rid of her more than anything, but his inner wolf would not let him, he could hear his inner wolf growl for her.

"Come with me!" He ordered, "come with me now!" He repeated.

"Please..." Akira begged, "I am sorry, do not harm me, I didn't mean to be a bother."

"Enough of this nonsense!" Kai roared, his growls sounding like that of the wolf that lived inside of him. "You are coming with me and you're coming with me now!"

He grabbed her by her wrist and he could feel the spark between both of them.

A longing that he did not know that was buried deep inside of him came alive as soon as their touch.

Akira was scared and he could smell it, but he did not want to be here either.

She was his mate and she needed to bow.

"Let go of me please...." Akira pleaded fearfully, "I promise to leave, I would never tell anyone about your abilities, no one would know, I would disappear from your life and city forever, just let me go."

Kai growled as he kept her shut, "I saved your life, you owe me and you must do as I wish!"

"I– I, leave me alone!!!" Akira yelled as her eyes glowed with blinding intensity that nearly blinded Kai.

He was strong to withstand the intensity.

"What are you?" He muttered when the commotion died down, confused.

"Just leave me alone please." Akira whimpered, scared of what was happening to her.

"You're coming with me, now!" Kai thundered.

Akira could see the fury in his eyes, she knew there was no way he was leaving here without her.

She ran, as fast as her legs could let her, but she was no match for his speed and his strong arms.

"Enough of this nonsense." Kai growled as he lifted her onto his shoulder and leaped out the window.
