29 years old Jaden-Lee couldn't sleep at night due to the noise that kept coming up from the next door, which of course, was her mum and dad's room.

He was the only son of his parents and has a little sister who was dumb.

His mum, Mrs Ava-Mae, and his dad Aiden- Leigh I've been married for 23 years now and he was actually given birth before they were officially married. And after 15years, they gave birth to his little sister Ruby who was 8 years old now.

Quarreling and fighting was a normal norm between his parents everyday and They seem to be quarreling again today and this late at night? Jaden pondered to himself as he quickly checked the time from his phone.

It was past midnight.

His father wasn't at home by the time Jaden retired to his room and for them to be fighting now, it only means one thing. His father was just coming back from who knows where.

He had really stressed himself today at school and had even stayed back to study as they were taking their final exams in the university were he was studying business administration and he needed to have some rest but the noise kept interrupting his sleep and so, he stood up from his bed, reached out for his head phones which he connected to his phone as he put on a music and raised the so high that he wouldn't be able to hear the noise coming from his parents.

After which he slowly drifted back to sleep.

Meaning well, the two adults continued to quarrel as their voice could even be heard by the neighbors who could be awake.

" Where are you coming back from this late at night?" Jaden's mum queried.

" Where else or not from work or what is it that you're thinking?" Her husband replied.

" Don't tell me that nonsense who on earth works till this late at midnight?"

" I'm very tired and not even in any way ready for this argument so can you get out of my way?" Her husband asked.

" No,not till you tell me where it is you're coming back from. I checked your office when I was coming back from work at around 7 pm and they told me that you guys I've closed so what the hell were you doing outside since?" She asked.

" So you're now stalking me?" He asked.

" Answer my question!" She roared.

" Do you know what time it is? Why are you disturbing the whole neighborhood this late at night? Are you going insane or what?" He asked, his eyes popping out.

" Wow, since when did you start caring about what the neighbors are saying? The Leigh I know never cared a damn about what people are saying or are going to say or else, why will you be coming home now?" She asked.

He just ignored her as he tried stepping into the room but she blocked him.

" Get out of my way at the count of five..... one, two, three....."

" What will you do if I don't? You're nothing but a shameless man who can not even have control over the thing between his two legs. I know you've gone to sleep with another prostitute haven't you?" She roared as she kept her two hands at her waist as she blocked his part.

"Four..... five!!" Her husband shouted as he quickly bounced at her and started beating a hell out of her

He continued beating her till he was satisfied then he entered the room leaving her in the sitting room in tears.

The next morning, Jaden has finished dressing up for school and has just come down to the dinning to eat his breakfast. It was only his little sister that was at the dining table when he arrived and she wasn't even eating the food before her.

" What is ruby? and where is mum? Why is she not here? He asked.

He didn't bother asking about his father as his father never joined them to have breakfast in the morning. He probably should be away by now as he was always going out very early and coming back so late at night just like yesterday.

Ruby couldn't answer his brother as her eyes were full of tears and she was sobbing quietly.

Not that Jaden was even expecting an answer from her, she was dumb after all and couldn't speak although, he always speak with her with a sigh language but she was probably not going to reply seeing how moody she was.

They fought again. That was the only reason why ruby could be like this. I mean who couldn't be? He was just trying his best not to let it affect him. That's why anyone could easily mistake it as him not being bothered.

He had a serious exam this morning and needed to be at school so early so he could have some time to revise before the exam commences.

But just like other days, he has to take his sister to school before going to he's.

" Eat your food fast and stop crying, we are already late" he ordered her.

" I'm not hungry," she answered with sign language.

" Why?" Jaden asked.

" Mum" that was all she sighed back to him.

" Mum? What about her?" Jaden asked, a little bit puzzled.

She must 've been too busy for her not to be at the table but for his sister to I've mentioned about her while still snobbing, it means there was more to it so he left the dining table for her mother's room.

" Mum, it's me, open the door," he called out to her.

" You should be having your breakfast. Why are you here?" Her mum asked as she managed to control her tears to avoid making her son know that she was crying.

" Shouldn't I at least see my mother and have her wish me luck before I leave for school?" Jaden asked.

"I can't come out, just go to school and take your sister alongside you. I'll see you when you're back," her mum replied.

"Did dad beat you again?" Jaden asked

Seeing that he had caught her, she started to cry and then opened the door for him.

Jaden was dumb struck as he saw her badly wounded his mother was.

" Dad did all this to you? I've always warned you to stop picking a fight with dad but you always refuse and now look.... I'll have to take you to the hospital" Jaden said.

" How.... You have an exam today.... And I don't want you to be late" his mum replied.

" It's fine mum, the exam time is at noon and it's still early in the morning. I just wanted to go early and revise my books first so get dressed and let's go" Jaden replied as her mother went in to do as was told.

She really needed to go to the hospital seeing bodily harm that had been done to her. She was even still bleeding from her nose which had been punched by her husband.

Right before she even gave birth to Jaden while they were still dating, she was living happily with her husband and even after they got married, things were going fine between them but just 8 years later, everything changed and that was after giving birth to Ruby.

He's husband has been waiting desperately for a daughter whom he would pamper and receive her bride price and so he was so happy when his wife became pregnant again and the pregnancy scan showed that it was a girl, his joy knew no bounds but then after the child was given birth to and it reached the stage for her to start speaking, and she couldn't only for them to go to the hospital and it was confirmed by the doctor that she was dumb.

Right from that day, things changed and it became worse day by day.

His husband who was so rich, and had many companies, suddenly started to act as though he was now poor and bankrupt just because he didn't want to take responsibility for Ruby and because of that, he let both her and Jaden suffer from it. That was why she even started to work in order to make ends meet.

Her husband packed out from the mansion they were living in before and brought them to a three bedroom flat and lied that their formal house was used as a collateral to the bank.

She had believed him and never doubted it because he really covered his tracks well but one-day, all his lies and pretense was found out by her and when she confronted him, he beat her up. That was the first day he started beating her and has never stopped till today.

He has tried to make things right between them but all her efforts proved abortive because his husband wasn't giving a helping hand.

He so much abores Ruby and doesn't even step an inch closer to her and if by mistake he gets to set his eyes on her, he will scold and even beat her up so that was why Ruby was always inside whenever he was around and last night, she was wide awake and had even peeped from her room when he's father started to beat her mother up and saw how badly wounded she was that was why she was crying so much at the dinning. What hurts her the most was that her father was doing all these things to her mum and even his brother as well into the suffering all because of her and that hurts her so badly especially whenever her mum get's beaten.

That night it was just too much for Mrs ava-Mae to keep quiet over her husband's escapes with other women outside; just because she didn't want to get on his bad side but then she couldn't bear it and had challenged him to his face. She wished that she never did that as it only made things worse.

What was she going to do to right all the wrongs? Was it her fault that her daughter couldn't speak, and if at all she was to blame, it shouldn't be only her that will be taking all the blame after all, she didn't make the baby herself but only gave birth to what her husband has released inside her. Why then it's she being punished for what she doesn't know about nor did she ask for it.

I mean who could ask for their daughter to be dumb? Was it of great relief to her? She wished so badly that her husband could understand all this and come back to his senses to how they both began.

After dressing up, Jaden Lee carried her mum to the hospital after dropping her sister at her school.

After the doctor finished checking her, and the nurses were doing the finishing work, Jaden Lee quickly rushed to school after bading her mum goodbye and asking her to stay out of trouble.

Reaching the school, he was so moody and as he stepped inside the school, the girls came drooling on him as they surrounded his path which of course, was a normal thing for him. Getting attention from girls due to how handsome and dashing he was, with an out of the world physique which already made him qualified to be a model.

On a normal day, he would just smile and wave his hands at them, while begging them to make a path for him to go in, after which they would demand to take some photos with him before they would let him pass, which he would just let them do but today....... He was not in any bit in the mood due to the recent happenings at home including the last night event so he pushed them one after the other from his path as he walked past them leaving the girls dumb-struck as they stood rooted on the ground.

" Huh? What was that? What's wrong with him today?" One of the girl's asked with a mouth agape.

"This is so much unlike him I bet he has been really provoked" the 2nd girl said.

"Provoked by us? But he always smiles at us" the third girl asked, her eyes popping out.

" No, not us!!!! Maybe from home" the 2nd girl replied.

" Yeah, I think so but I never know that he has this kind of temper ohh... I nearly peed at myself at that behavior of he's" the fourth girl said.

" It's not only you my dear, my heart jumped into my stomach"

" I've never seen him that way before. Omg! It looks so scary when handsome guys are angry I never knew it was true until now"

" I'm so afraid, that I don't think that I can come closer to him again"

" Even me..... I think we should stop crowding him next time and only admire from behind" the other girl said as they all agreed to that.

"Jaden what was that about? Why did you push them away and thinking about that, you don't seem to be in a good mood today." Aaron -Jay asked.

He was Jaden Lee's best friend.

" Let's not talk about that until after taking the exam," Jaden-Lee replied.

" Fine, if you say so let's study briefly then, it's almost time for the exam to start" Aaron-Jay replied and so they studied for a little while before the exam finally began.

As soon as the exam finished, Jaden-Lee left the exam hall then he looked around the school.

This was his final exam and apart from when he would come back for his certificate result, he might never come back here so it was like bading farewell to the university and to make way for other things.

He was so lost in thoughts that he didn't know when his friend walked up to him.

"Now we are done with the exams so can you tell me what happened?" Aaron-Jay asked.

"You've been my best friend since childhood, shouldn't you, I've guessed already?" Jaden- lee asked.

" It's about your parents again? But then, it's not like the first time and you have always kept your cool so why the sudden outburst this morning?" Aaron- Jay asked.

" That's because I couldn't control it anymore. You know that as a human, sometimes you get uncontrollable and I'm so pained today because of the great injuries my mother sustained from last night's beating. I had to take her to the hospital before coming here" Jaden- lee replied.

" Are you serious? This is getting really bad..... and something has to be done about it" Aaron-Jay replied.

" You think so?" Jaden-Lee asked as he touched his forehead in frustration.

" Yeah..... and really fast before he kills your mother one day" Aaron Jay replied.

" Thanks bro, for the advice I really appreciate" Jaden replied as they both left the school down to the hospital where her mother was discharged and they went to the pharmacy to buy the medicines that were prescribed for her.

They stopped by Ruby's school and together, they all went home.

" How are you feeling now ma?" Aaron-Jay asked.

" I'm getting better all thanks to your friend," his mum replied.

" Aah.... Mum, you don't need to be like that, let me go and prepare something for us to eat" Jaden replied.

" I'll join you" Aaron Jay said as he entered the kitchen with him and within some moment, they were done with the preparation of the food and started to eat.

After which they gossiped for sometime then Aaron-Jay bade them goodbye and left for home.

Then Jaden helped her mum go inside the room as she laid on the bed to have some rest while he and Ruby stayed in the sitting room.

Ruby was doing her homework while Jaden was busy with his phone.

Ruby is in elementary school and very much more intelligent than the kids of her age. The only hindrance was just her dumbness.

They remained in the sitting room till late at night before they retired back to their rooms.

At about 12 in the night, their dad returned and entered inside because the door was always left unlocked just for him as he entered into the room, he met his wife sleeping soundly on the bed and he became so annoyed at how she had slept off when he was not yet back so he hit her hardly and she sprank up to her feet as cold sweat ran through her just by mere sighting of her husband.

" Quickly, go and prepare some food, I'm hungry" He commanded her.

" Aah.... You should 've told me earlier, there are no ingredients here to prepare food for you. I didn't know you would need one since you don't usually eat here ...." Before she could finish her statement, he bounced at her and started beating her up again.

" What do you mean by that nonsense you just said? I you stupid?" He asked as he beat her harder.

As soon as jaden-lee heard the shouts and cries from the other room, he quickly dashed out from his room and landed on that of his parents.

At this point, his father was about to step on his mother's stomach who was already laying flat on the floor with blood gauzing out from every look and cranel of her.

Jaden-lee couldn't take it anymore and so he bounced on his father and started beating him.

With annoyance and wrath filled in his heart, which has been accumulating all this years of maltreatment from his father, and especially tonight which has actually fueled the fire, Jaden- Lee beated the hell out of her father making sure he got as twice as the pains and injuries he has inflicted on her mother.

He is actually skilled in Martial arts and he used it to deal with his father who was now running out of breath.

" Jaden-lee!!!!! You will kill him if you don't stop now!!" His mother shouted amidst her tears and pains.
