Chapter 1 The Awakening of Helen

Helen's POV

As Marcus moved closer to Scott, I stood motionless, my heart racing. Scott was still hurt and struggling for air on the ground. Marcus's eyes were crazy, and his claws were poised to deliver the last blow.

"Scott!" I yelled, but my voice could hardly be heard over the noise of the surrounding battle.

I could sense deep inside me the strength I'd been scared to use, the power I'd always tried to ignore. But now that Scott's life was in jeopardy, there was nothing else to do. I would lose him forever if I didn't act.

I closed my eyes without thinking and allowed my inner energy to rise. It was strong and wild, and it swept through me like a hurricane. Every part of me buzzed with strength I never knew I had, and I gasped as the force surged into my veins.

My surroundings were brighter and sharper when I opened my eyes once more. The power was surging within me, waiting to be let go.

Marcus froze in place, his eyes narrowing when he saw how I had changed. Confused, he hissed, "What is this?" "What are you?"

I didn't respond. I didn't have to. With each passing second, I sensed the strength within me increasing. It no longer frightened me. I could use it to defend the people I cared about because it was a part of who I was.

I lifted my hand in a single motion, and a surge of energy erupted from me and struck Marcus. The intensity of the strike stunned him, and he stumbled back.

"Leave him alone!" With a voice full of authority I didn't realize I had, I yelled.

Everyone turned to stare at me, and the whole battlefield seemed to pause. Everyone was in awe of what they were witnessing, including the rogues and pack members.

I sensed the change beginning. I moved more quickly and had keener senses. I wasn't the helpless misfit they all believed me to be. More than that, I was something strong.

Marcus growled as he regained his strength. He snarled as he charged at me, his claws outstretched, "You think you can stop me?"

However, I was prepared this time. I easily deflected his blows, meeting his onslaught head-on. Every time he swung, I was stronger and faster. I felt invincible because of the force within me.

As I sidestepped another of his blows, I murmured, "You're not going to win, Marcus," in a firm voice. "This ends now."

I pushed him back with one more surge of energy, and he fell to the ground. His face contorted with anger and incredulity, he fought to stand up.

He spat, "You!" but I gave him a final blast of power before he could continue, rendering him comatose.

Marcus lay motionless, vanquished, and the battlefield grew quiet. My pulse was pounding from the ferocity of the battle as I stood over him, panting.

Scott was still on the ground, staring at me with wide eyes when I turned around. He was hurt, with blood on his side and his shirt ripped, but he was still alive. I felt a wave of relief.

"Helen," Scott spoke in a quiet, incredulous voice. "How... How did you do that?

Seeing his wounds made my heart hurt, so I took a step in his direction. "I couldn't let him hurt you," I said in a tremulous murmur. "I had to stop him."

Scott's eyes never left mine as he fought to sit up. I had not noticed anything different in the way he looked at me previously.

He said, "You're not the person I thought you were," in an emotionally charged tone. "I thought you were weak, but... you saved me."

To help him sit up, I knelt next to him. I said, "You would've done the same for me," even though I knew in my heart that it wasn't the same. Scott had always thought of me as vulnerable and in need of protection. He was aware of the truth now, though.

Scott put his hand on mine and whispered, "I was wrong about you." "You're stronger than I thought you were."

I felt a range of feelings as I gazed into his eyes, including relief, fatigue, and an unidentified sense. I whispered, "I didn't do it for recognition." "I cared about you, so I did it."

But the world began to whirl around me before I could say another word. I could feel the energy leaving me as my body, which had been so powerful just seconds before, became heavy.

"Helen?" As he reached for me, Scott's voice sounded worried. "What's wrong, Helen?"

I struggled to keep upright and said, "I... I used too much." My legs felt like they were giving out under me, and my vision became blurry.

I started to collapse, but Scott's arms were there to support me. "Helen! Remain with me! I could sense the terror in his voice as he spoke in a panic.

"I am... I said, "I'm sorry," as my eyelids grew heavier by the moment. "I was unaware."

Scott snarled, "Don't you dare apologize," while embracing me. "I was saved by you. We were all saved by you.

I could hardly hear him, though. The stress of using so much energy was finally getting to me, and my body was shutting down. I tried to hang on, but the darkness was encroaching and threatening to drag me down.

Scott's voice trembled as his hands tightened around me. "Please, Helen. Stay with me.

I wanted to reply, to assure him that I wouldn't, but I couldn't find the right words. My strength was gone, and Scott's regretful and guilty expression was the last thing I saw as everything turned black.

As the world faded around me, I could hear Scott's voice, barely a whisper now. "I should've never doubted you..."

But it was too late. The darkness had swallowed me whole, and I didn't know if I would ever wake up again.

Chapter 2 The Revelation of Mate

Helen POV

With quivering hands, I was sweeping the huge hall with fast, tense strokes. As usual, the omegas oversaw organizing everything for the Blueblood Pack's major event, the Moon Ceremony. It was a special night because this ceremony was when wolves often met their fated spouses. For me, it was just another night of working hard and staying unseen, even though it was intended to be a celebratory night.

"Helen, go faster! Serena said, her voice resonating through the hallway, "We don't have all day. She carried herself with the usual air of importance. "Ensure that everything is flawless. The Alpha is intolerant of errors.

I dared not look up as I nodded. I wasn't racing because of her; it wasn't. The peculiar feeling that had been developing inside of me since yesterday persisted. My ability to think had been impaired ever since I saw that glimpse of Alpha Scott in my thoughts.

"What's the matter with me?" I tightened my grasp on the broom and murmured to myself.

I looked up when I heard heavy footsteps reverberating along the hallway. Alpha Scott had just walked in, capturing the attention of all with his presence. My heart stopped a beat, and I felt that overwhelming, familiar feeling all over again. This time, it was stronger still, to the point where I had to hold onto the broom to prevent it from trembling.

With his eyes concentrated and keen, he cast a quick scan over the room. Even though he wasn't even looking at me, I could feel a pull between us that felt like an unseen thread. My chest constricted, and I averted my gaze in the hopes that no one would see the peculiar feelings arising within me.

"Everything must be prepared for tonight," Scott said in a deep, commanding voice. For our pack, the Moon Ceremony is crucial.

All around him gave a nod of approval, and I rushed to complete my assignment while attempting to ignore my developing emotions.

When the Moon Ceremony began, the sky had grown black and the full moon was high overhead, illuminating the clearing with a silvery glow. With their best clothes on and ready for the upcoming night, the pack had assembled.

I tried to remain hidden by standing over to the side near the trees. Though there was a lot of excitement and anticipation in the air, all I could sense was the same strong tug I had experienced earlier. Now it was worse, drawing me toward Alpha Scott like a fire in my breast.

I saw him standing close to the front, with the leaders of the pack encircling him. Wearing a dark suit, his commanding presence was unavoidable. Despite knowing better, I couldn't resist staring at him with my eyes since they were drawn to him.

"Why am I feeling this way?" My throat tightened with panic as I muttered to myself.

The purpose of the event was to help wolves find partners. It was a happy occasion to commemorate the link that bound us all together. It was becoming more of a nightmare for me, though. I was not welcome here. This wasn't how I was expected to feel.

My senses were more acute when the Moon Priestess spoke softly and melodically to start the ceremony. Everything around me became indistinct, and my only attention was on Scott. Now there was no denying the draw; it was so powerful it was almost painful.

The closer we became, the more my heart hammered in my chest, and then suddenly everything was evident.

My eyes widened in disbelief as I thought, "Alpha Scott is my mate." It is not possible. There must be some sort of error here.

But the sensation persisted. It was hard to ignore since it simply became stronger.

I was motionless as I stood there, thinking rapidly. Should I come forward and declare him my mate, or should I remain mute and keep this a secret? The latter is what my heart urged me to do, but fear stopped me.

The Priestess's words were no longer audible to me as the ceremony went on. All I could think of was how our relationship was dragging me toward Scott, almost like gravity.

Before I knew it, my feet started to move independently, and I was moving forward and emerging into the lunar clearing from the shadows. As I walked up to the audience, my heart pounded in my chest and my whole body shook.

As word of me reached the audience, murmurs began to circulate. I could feel their interest and bewilderment encircling me like a tempest.

What are you doing, Helen? Lila angrily whispered from the sidelines, but I chose to ignore her.

I halted a few feet from Alpha Scott, trembling all over my body from nerves. He gave me a small tilt of the head and met my eyes. As soon as our eyes locked, a strong and unbreakable connection formed between us.

"I..." I stammered; my voice scarcely audible. I took a deep breath and pushed the words out. "Alpha Scott... You are my friend.

The pack hushed. I could sense their astonishment and amazement radiating like wildfire throughout the throng, as well as the weight of their looks.

"What was said by her?"

"She is simply an omega."

"Not possible."

Even though I felt like my legs were going to give out from under me, I forced myself to stay upright and keep staring at Scott. As I waited for his reaction, my heart was racing in my ears, hoping and praying that he would have the same connection that I had.

Scott gave me a long, incomprehensible look as he peered at me. I waited for him to say something, and my breath stuck in my throat. I briefly believed I saw a spark of something, like astonishment or perplexity, in his eyes.

But suddenly his face became stern.

"No," he replied in a harsh, piercing voice.

My heart sank to my gut as I blinked. "W-What?"

"You're wrong, Omega," Scott uttered in a cold tone. "My mate is not you."

I felt his remarks as if they were a physical blow, depleting my lungs of air. I stood there dumbfounded, not understanding what was going on.

Scott said, scorn in his green eyes, "You're nothing." "You could never be my mate; you are an orphaned omega."

Shocked whispers from the throng broke out, their voices full of sympathy and amazement. I felt their gaze upon me, their criticism piercing me like a pair of scissors.

The agonizing tightening in my chest was caused by the breaking of our bond, which tore at my heart. With tears welling up in my eyes, I staggered backward. How could he treat me so badly? Did he not sense it too?

I trembled as I murmured, "I... I don't understand." It hurt so bad, it felt like someone had torn a piece of my soul away.

Scott remained silent. He just stood there, seemingly indifferent to me, chilly and aloof. Silently, the throng watched, waiting for something to happen.

But I was limited to running.

My heart was shattering with each stride I took as I turned and ran, tears streaming down my cheeks. We had broken our tie, and I felt empty and hollow inside.

I had no idea where I was heading. It didn't matter to me. I just wanted to get out of there, far away from the anguish and shame of what had just transpired.

I could still feel Scott's eyes following me as I dashed into the night. However, he didn't comply. He didn't give me a call. His rejection hung heavily in the air as he simply let me go.

The pain of the rejection tore through me as I ran, my tears blurring the path ahead. But even through the heartbreak, I couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right. Why did Scott look at me like that before he rejected me? Was he hiding something? As the night closed in around me, I knew one thing for sure this was only the beginning.

Chapter 3 The Omega Rejected

Helen POV

I spent days hiding in the old storage house's little corner, where nobody ever cared to go, and avoiding the pack. My chest had been hurting ever since Alpha Scott turned me down. The dull aching persisted and would not go away. I was unable to comprehend it. How was he my mate if he didn't share my bonding experience?

I sat by myself, putting my legs up against my chest and gazing at the floor. My mind kept going back to that night; I could still see the hatred in Scott's eyes and the harshness in his voice. It felt as though I didn't exist. As if I had no value.

"Why am I here at all?" To myself, I muttered. "Not really, I've never belonged to this pack."

My early years and the loneliness I had as an orphan omega came flooding back. I was left to be raised by the pack out of sympathy after my parents passed away when I was a newborn. However, I never felt like I belonged there. I was always the unwelcome, weak one.

The bullies were still fresh in my mind, especially Serena, who would constantly sneer at me and tell me how unworthy I was. Now Scott had followed suit. Perhaps they were correct. Perhaps I wasn't suitable to be a partner for anyone.

Tears burned in my eyes, but I fought the need to blink. I was no longer able to cry. It would be ineffective. However, I couldn't get rid of the sense that there ought to be more. The Moon Goddess would have paired me with someone like Scott for a purpose.

"Why did she decide on me?" I uttered a barely heard murmur. "What makes me so unique?"

Scott was sitting in his office far away in the packhouse, gazing out the window. The room was softly lit by the moon, but his thoughts were anything but tranquil. He was consumed by thoughts of what had transpired during the Moon Ceremony.

He whispered to himself, attempting to persuade himself that what he had done was the right one.

His Beta, Marcus, leaned against the doorframe and observed him intently. You did, he concurred. An omega like Helen? Scott, she's frail. That kind of person cannot be your Luna. It would give you a vulnerable appearance.

Scott's jaw tightened. He didn't want to acknowledge it, but when he turned Helen down, something didn't feel right. He'd believed for a split second that he felt something, a tug, there. However, it vanished just as swiftly as it appeared.

With a tone of hesitation in his voice, Scott said, "I don't know." Something about her appeals to me. It defies explanation.

Marcus gave a headshake. "Ignore her. As the Alpha, you are. You require a powerful partner at your side. Not a helpless, weak-willed orphan omega.

Scott nodded, but the discomfort persisted in the background. Why was Helen so difficult for him to forget? Her picture persisted, especially the look of anguish on her face as she fled, but he should have been able to move on.

Marcus patted Scott on the shoulder and said, "Focus on the pack." You'll meet someone more appropriate to be your Luna. Someone more powerful

Serena made her way to Scott's office later that night. Even though he didn't see her the way she wanted him to, they had always been close. She had been waiting for her opportunity, expecting him to see her as more than just a fighter.

"Alpha," with a voice as sweet as honey, she greeted him gently.

Scott hardly looked up from his desk's paperwork. "Serena," he answered. His voice seemed distant, preoccupied.

She approached with something in her eyes that seemed to be admiration or perhaps ambition. I wanted to see how you were doing. Following everything with Helen.

Scott sighed. "I'm alright,"

Her calming, gentle voice went on, "I know you made the right decision." "You would have just been weakened by an omega like her. Strong Luna is needed by the pack.

With a tiny narrowing of his green eyes, Scott glanced at her. "What would you like to say?"

With a mischievous smirk, Serena grinned. "I'm just saying... I'm right here if you're looking for someone strong, someone who knows what it means to lead."

Before Scott could react, Serena said, "The pack needs a powerful Luna, Scott," and he raised an eyebrow. Someone you can rely on and support is needed. For you, I am that person.

Scott thought about what she had said for a while, yet he had a moment of hesitation. His voice was icy as he answered, "We'll see."

Serena didn't press anymore, but her smile dimmed a little. The seed had been sown by her. All she had to do now was wait for it to enlarge.

I decided to go for a walk in the woods since I could no longer endure to stay in the packhouse. Even though the night air was chilly, I didn't mind. It assisted in numbing my chest ache. I had no idea where I was heading and just roamed. All I wanted to do was escape from everything.

In the moonlight, the trees towered over me, creating elongated shadows. Usually, the woodland was tranquil, but there was something uneasy about the air tonight. Unease pricked my skin, but I ignored it. It was most likely all in my head.

Wandering along, lost in contemplation, I was startled to hear a low growl coming from behind me.

With a beating heart, I froze. My blood raced cold as I turned around slowly. At the edge of the clearing stood three rogue wolves, their eyes gleaming with hatred. Compared to other wolves I had ever seen, these were larger and more ferocious-looking.

Fear gripped me, causing my breath to catch in my throat. I wasn't a combatant. I was helpless against them.

A renegade moved forward and bared its teeth. My head was screaming for me to run, but my legs felt like they were cemented to the ground as my body tightened and I took a step back.

I narrowly avoided getting hit by the rogue's sudden lunge at me. My palms scraped the coarse soil as I staggered to the ground. I could not afford to stay down, so even though I was in excruciating pain, I forced myself to stand up.

I heard another snarl from behind me and quickly turned to see the second rogue pounce. I held my arms up to protect myself, waiting for the blow, but it never arrived.

Suddenly, a big, black wolf sprang into the clearing and tackled the rogue in midair. They both fell to the ground with great power from the hit. I was shocked to see the enigmatic wolf use vicious, intense strength to drive the rogues away.

In a couple of seconds, the fight was done. The clearing became eerily quiet as the rogues withdrew, growling as they vanished into the trees.

Trembling, I stood there, gazing at the wolf that had come to my rescue. Its eyes shone brightly with intellect, and its coat was a deep midnight black. It turned to face me, and for an instant, I thought I recognized something in its eyes.

However, the wolf vanished into the darkness before I could speak, leaving me standing by myself with my heart thumping in my chest.

Who was that wolf? And why had they saved me? I stood there in the silence of the forest, my mind racing with questions. But one thing was clear I wasn't safe anymore. Something bigger was at play, and I had a feeling it was only the beginning.
