The orphan

A woman was wheeled into the labour room looking tired and pale and the nurses and midwife rushes into the labour room, the nurses helpes her undress and she was naked while just a cloth was used in covering her from her breast and and her legs were held up and wide and the midwife says to her.

" Madam please push" the woman in labour tried to push but she could only tried she had no strenght to push".

The woman wheeled to the labour room had been in labour in one small hospital managed by just a single and a quack nurse due to no money, she didn't register in a better hospital because she and her husband can't even afford a three square meal not to talk of affording an hospital bill.

It was when the nurse couldn't handle the situation again that she quickly the husband that she should be taken to a nearby hospital.

She had been labouring for over 7 hours before being wheeled to the hospital, she was tired pushing out her baby before taken to the bigger hospital.

" Madam please try and push harder " the midwife says but she couldn't and the midwife removes the handgloves from her hand and dresses and washes her hand and goes to the doctor in his office to give him report while the doctor was studying online.

" Sir the woman brought in recently for child bearing is currently so weak and I don't think she can push" midwife says to the doctor and the doctor stood up and follows the midwife into the labour room and he sees how tired and pale the woman was.

" Where is her husband? He asks the midwife.

" He is outside the word sir" the midwife replied.

"Please tell him to see me in my office and nurses please prepare the theatre" the doctor leaves the labour room and walks out of the hospital ward while the midwife goes to meet the woman husband at the reception to meet a man dressed in a faded shirt and trouser and a rubber slippers.

" Mr Akilo, the doctor would like to see you" the man stood up.

" As my wife put to bed? he asks.

" please sir come with me, the doctor would want to meet you sir" she says and he follows her and she leads him into the doctors office.

" Sir this is Mr Ben Akilo " she says.

" Thanks ,you can take your leave" he says.

"Sir , the truth is your wife is very very weak, she cannot push out the baby on her own so which means we have to operate her and if we do not start this operation very soon, we might loose both mother and child but if we have your go ahead and a deposit of atleast 40k we would save both life but if we waste too much time we might loose both life or try our best to save both lives, sir the ball is in your court" the court.

" please doctor help me to save my wife and my child , please ", says Ben.

" Mr Ben Akilo go and try , maybe you can get money ", said the doctor. .

" Alright , i will go and try aa you said ", ssid Ben .

" That will be better " said the doctor.

" i will soon come back " said Ben.

Then Ben went home , he talk to his landlord, no luck, he went to all his friends , no one borrows him money , he finally went to his mother , the poor woman don't have money , but the mother went to contributions collector , she explains how urgent they needed the money , the man borrowed them 60k and he rush down to thhe hospital, where he met his wife very weak, no single strength in hrr again , so Ben entered into the doctors office tells him this what he have for now, but he promised that he will pay the remaining money very soon , then, doctor directed him to the cashier office where he go and pay the money and collected receipt, and he took the receipt to the doctor, then the doctor has already told the nurses to prepare for cicerian section for the woman .

So they wheeled her to the theatre, while one of the midwife was with her

" Comw with me " says the doctor to another midwife,

' alright sir , right on my way " says the other midwife.

" how is her condition now ?" asks the doctor.

" the condition is depreciating every minute " ssys the midwife.

As the doctor brought out the baby from her womb, she gave up the ghost , and midwife cleaned the baby, and the doctor went to meet mr Ben Akilo , he was even happy to see the doctor and he asks about his wife condition , and the doctor told him that he should take heart that they can only save the baby but his wife couldn't make it .

"He interrupted the doctor , doctor ,what are you trying to say ," asks mr Ben Akilo.

" calm down , what am trying to say is that , she cannot make it , only the baby survive..

Then he broke into tears , crying uncontrollably till he became unconscious , when he was unconscious, the midwife checked his trouser pocket and brought out his small cellphone and call his brother to come to the hospital immediately , not too long the brother arrived and saw his brother on the bed , and the brother said , again, after some minutes ,he woke up, a nd , he saw his brother beside him , then the doctor sent a midwife to the husband of the deceased and his brother to come to his office.

" mr Akilo, you need to be strong," says the doctor .

" thank you , i didn't know that , that's how she is going to leave me ".ssys mr Ben Akilo. .

"What ia there now is how you are going to make an arrangement to remove the copse from our hospital ", ssys the doctor .

"Okay , i will need to call her sister", ssys mr Ben Akilo.

"Do what you know that it's necessary , so that, you will not pay another money again ", says the doctor.

"We have heard what you ssid , we will soon be back ssys the brother.

Then , the husband called her sister and some other people that he knows to be family of her wife , then they went home , in reaching home their mother aak has she put to bed, they all looked at themselves and says yes but the pot has finally broken , then, the mother inlaw bursts into tears , she cried alot but people around and few family's that were with them console her and she stops crying..

" Ben , how are you going to do the burial now ?", aaked the mother .

" I don't know mother , says Ben .

" let me call someone that can take you go to micro finance", ssys the mother .

" thank you mother ", says Ben.

His mother called somebody and narrate what befell them , and the woman that the mother call , is the leader of a group under micro finance , she told her to come for the money the next day , that she will talk to the marketers in the bank now , tell your son to bring necessary documents come to my shop tomorrow, am really sorry for what happened to your family , accept my codolence .

The next day ,early in the money, he collects the leader's information, and how to get to the woman 's shop, as he rreach the place he asks .

Good morning ma " says mr Ben Akilo,

" Good morning , gentle man , how may i help you ? " asks the woman .

"Are you mrs gbade ?" Asked Ben .

" Yes , what do you want ?" asked mrs gbade .

" My mother called you yesterday and explained to you what happened to me yesterday " Ben explained.

"she ssid that i should come and meet you for financial help " says Ben..

" Alright , did you come with your documents " asked mrs gbade .

"Yes ma , i brought all the necessary documents ma:" says. Ben Akilo

"Where are the documents " asked mrs gbade.

"Here are the documents " Ben handed over all documents to the woman .

" I told your mother the particular amoun,t that you will bring " said mrs gbade .

" Did you brings the said amount " asked mrs gbade .

Yes ma , and here are the money ma " said mr Ben Akilo .

They all went out of the shop including the guarantor , the senior brother and the wife sister stood as a guarantors , mrs Gbade call her ceo and handed over the form and the deposits to the ceo of the micro finance, not too long they process the documents, before they could stayed two hours they called them to come and sign for the money, they collected the money , and they left the bank for the preparation of the burial, in the evening they buried the mother of the baby .

The following day of the burial , the doctor called the husband Ben Akilo to come and carry his baby , he called the sister to his wife that the hosipal said that they should come and carry the baby , two of them went to the hospital to go and carry the baby, Ben Akilo thought that his siater inlaw will take the baby home , but she refused, she said she cannot manage the baby that the baby is too small for her to carry, that she cannot tske care of the baby , that they should employ a nanny

" sandra , take these baby home , i will be coming to see the baby " says mr Ben Akilo.

I can't take this baby home , i cannot take care of baby , infact i cannot carry tinny baby like this " ssys Sandra.

" See, you know my mother is old and she cannot take care of a day old baby like this " says mr Ben Akilo .

" I have a suggestion ,let us employ a nanny , i think that could be better " said Sandra .

Where do you wants me to see that kind of money " says Ben Akilo.

" I can only take the custody of the baby when she is two years " says Sandra.

Since Sandra refused to take care of her sister 's only baby dont worry ,let us take the baby home "says Ben s brother .

If we take this baby home who will take care of her if we are going to work " says Ben Akilo.

" don't worry, mother will take care of the baby " says Kunle.

" What of mother didn't agree because of her health "says Ben .

" don't worry about that ,i wll talk to mother , she will agree to take care of her grandchild " says kunle.

" Right now we don't have any choice than to take this baby goes to our mother despite of her health conditions " says Ben.

" i have already told you that we don't have any option , that's the only option that we have , so let's go home with the baby or you wants to leave her in the hospital "says kunle.

" Why are you bringing the baby back home, who is going to take care of this baby ?," why didn't you give Sandra the baby " asked the mother.

" We went to the hospital together to carry the baby , as i just told Sandra take this baby home , i will be coming to check on her , she refused to take her home " says Ben.

" How did you wants me to take care of the baby with my health conditions, i don't have much strength to take care of little baby like this ,but she is my grandchild , bring her to me let me feel her let me touch her, let me carry her in my hands " says the grandma.

" then .Ben quickly goes to his mother and give her mother the baby , and " thank you mother " says Ben .

The eight day the baby was name Omotola , which is the middle name of her mum, the baby recieved lots of gifts from sympathisers.

The granmother carries the baby and said that "i will take care of this baby till my last breathe on earth" says the grandma.

Ben sent someone to help him buy baby milk and some other things that the baby will need.

Today makes fourteen days that your wife died ", said grandma. I really wish she was here with us , we love her but God Love her more " his mother said and

" Yes mother "says Ben . " I miss my wife" he says with tears streaming down his face.

" My son you don't have to start crying again please what is important right now is how to take good care of this baby and I know she would be happy with you for taking good care of this baby " she says and uses the back of her palms to dry her eyes.

"How are you going to pays the bank loans?" aaked the grandma.

" mother i have been thinking of what to do " said Ben.

"Well, you need to think fast, because of your responsibilities, the baby and the loans " said the grandma.

" i will definitely goes out tomorrow to search for any available jobs " says Ben .

the next morning, he walked down the street to the youths leader, contractor , and engineers.

"Greetings , says Ben .

" Greetings, how may i help you " the small girl outside answered,

" please i wants to see the youth leader " says Ben.

" wait for me here , i will go and call him for you" says the small girl.

And the small girl enters and come out.

" he is coming " said the small girl.

" thank you my dear " says Ben.

The youth leader later comes to attend to Ben .

" how may i help you, mr man " says the youth leader.

" My name is Ben Akilo , my wife died two weeks ago and she left a baby girl , and i also owed the debts of two hundred and forty six thousand including the interest ,that is the reason why i need your help sir " Ben narrated his story.

"Do you wants me to pay your debts " asked the youth leader.

" No sir , i need any types of jobs "says Ben

" sir even if it's to clear bush , gutter, and some menial jobs , i am ready " says Ben

"it's okay , take this paper and write your address and number on it " says the youth leader.

" I can do any types of jobs even if it's labour , odds or white collar " am ready to do any kind of work if its to wash clothes" says Ben

. " am sorry for the loss of your wife, your stories is so sympathsetic, don't worry, i will help you, but , you needs to take things easy , life does not go straight " says the youth leader.

" Thank so much sir , i will be coming to you sir " says Ben. "

" Do you have any credentials " asked the youth leader.

" Yes sir , i have OND certificate, but i only able to collects (TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN)" says Ben.

"Do you know how to drive " the youth leader aaked.

" No sir ,i don't know how to drive sir, but i can learn fast " Ben answered. .

"Can you come back tomorrow?" Aaked the youth leader.

" Yes sir , what time sir " says Ben.

" Don't worry about that , let me discuss your matter with some of my people ,any how it goes , iwill let you know on phone ," said the youth leader.

" sir ,do you wants me to come tomorrow ?"says Ben.

" don't worry yourself i have your number with me " says the youth leader.

The youths leader gave him five thousand, he said that, he should use the money to buy baby milk for the baby , he collects the money and goes back home .

" good day mother , how is Omotola doing , hope she didn't give you problems?" asked Ben.

" Not at all she is just eating and sleeping then crying little " say grandma.

Then he carries his baby playing with her tiny hands

" Ben how did it goes today, did you secured any job today " asked his mother

" Not yet , but there is hope , someone promised to calls me tomorrow " says Ben.

"Brings baby Omotola What type of job ?"asked the mother ,

" i have no idea of the type of the job but, he gave me hope.

" Are you starting the work tomorrow?" aaked the mother.

"Mother ,you aaking too much questions, wait untill tomorrow, the man even gave me five thousand to buy milk for the baby , but i will use it to buy Pampers." said Ben.

" Brings baby Omotola, so that you can go and buy the Pampers.

"Mother please let me rest a little ,because i trek go and come back " says Ben.

"Is the place so far to the extent that you cannot go and do any other things okay go and rest then" , says the mother.

" thanks so much mother, by the way, where is kunle? " says Ben. ,

" someone came to call him for work, " says mother .

" Okay let me go and prepare for tomorrow". said Ben

Sandra used to go and check the baby , she used to buy Pampers, baby milk and clothes for the baby while the grandma is taking care of the baby , and the father is doing any jobs that come his way., then Sandra entered.

" Mama good day ma " Sandra greets.

" Good day my inlaw , how are you " says Ben's mother.

" here are the things that i bought for the baby" said Sandra.

All what you bought for the baby is good and fine ,thank you so much for the assistance , but Sandra ,you know that you are in the best position to take care of this little baby, why did you refused to take care of your sister's only child .but you know that my health cannot do this but am just forcing myself, though i made promise that i will take care of her till my last breath " said Ben's mother

" my inlaw, not that i cannot take care of the baby but i can't carry tinny baby like this, secondly, i can't combine taken care of baby with my business, but i promised to support you and the baby " said Sandra.

Anyway, since you promises to support financially, please don't forget your promises, because without money nothing can be done".said Ben's mother.

"No i will not forget my promises , i made the promises from the bottom of my heart"says Sandra.

" I have another thing that i will like to tell you , please will you do something for me " aaked Ben's mother.

" You are free to tell me anything".said Sandra.

Should in case i paas on please help me to take the custody of Omotola " says Ben's mother.

" I promised to take her custody " Sandra promised.

"Did you promise me to take care of her , anytime i pass on" Ben's mother asked.
