Angelina's hair was brushed to the back by Grace(her mother). She folded the hair into a bun and laid the edge of the hair with edge controller.

Grace picked the deodorant and sprayed her daughter's uniform and while doing this, she avoided the eyes part.

"It's a nice deodorant, and you are going to love it". She muttered behind her ears and she smile back at her mother.

Angelina turned to face her mother before glancing at the wall clock in the sitting room. The time is now 7:20Am in the morning.

"It's time to leave, mum".

"Yes, I know.

Have you seen olive? She asked picking up her handbag and placing it at her back.

"I haven't see her and I'm running late to school". Angelina responded.

"You can check her at home on your way to school, since her house is not far from here". Grace said while Angelina picked her lunch pack and pecked her chin.

"Will see you in the evening, mother". She said and run off to school.

Grace went into the bathroom to have her bath and also prepare for work.

She is dressed in a white top tank with a black office skirt. She wore her heels and removed the band at the back of her hair.

She brushed her hair, twirl it to a side and hold it up with a pin.

She applied a few makeup and check herself out in the standing mirror.

"This morning look doesnt look like an old woman. I am a baddie myself". She said and picked her handbag.

She jumped on the next bus which is already filled up and stand up throughout the journey.

Angelina arrived at olive home and olive is still in bed.

"Angelina! (olive mother called out).

"Olive won't be able to come to school today. She is not feeling better and I don't want it to affect her school activities. Once she is Alright, I will let you know". She said and patted her back.

"Can I see her?". She asked and olive mother nodded to her.

She went inside and there olive is sleeping peacefully on the bed with a duvet covering her body.

She kneel beside the bed and held her hand.

"I don't know what's wrong with you and whatever it is.

I hope you get better today.

I can't wait to have you back, dear friend.

You've been my only shield". She muttered as she pecked her hands and left her room.

"I will check up on her in the evening, mum".

"No problem, dear.

Be safe out there". Olive mother said while Angelina wave her off.

She jumped on the bus which conveyed her to school.

She held her lunch box and walked briskly towards the classroom.

As usual, the class is filled with different students and they were generating alot of noise.

Angelina rolled her eyes and find a way to her seat.

Not too long, the teacher came in and all the class went silent.

"Your friend is not around". Someone wisphered behind her ears and she looked back.

"She is not around, is there any problem with that? She wisphered back.

"I do not want any mumbling when the class is going on.

I will like you all to pay a close attention to the topic that I want to teach you.

Do you all understand? The teacher said.

"Yes, ma'am! They all chorused.

"That's good of you, my kiddos.

Now let's move to the topic of the day". The class teacher said moving towards the white board.

"Excuse me, Mrs Robert.

You have a new student". The principal said and everyone looked towards the entrance of the class.

A young guy dressed in a white top and black pants with shoes is standing beside the principal.

"Oh, welcome kiddo! Mrs Robert said moving towards them.

"I want him to settle in his seat as soon as possible. He just joined us together.

Could you introduce yourself to the class?

"Good morning everyone,

My name is Carl".

"Carl.

That's cute.

You can take a seat in any vacant space there". She said pointing towards the empty seats behind the students.

"What do you say, kiddo?

"You are welcomed to our midst! The student chorused while everyone smile at each other.

The principal left the class and Mrs Robert continue with her teaching.

Carl got to his seat and place his bag on the table. He brought out his note book and pen and start jotting down the teacher teaching.

"It seemed that a new fool just joined us today". Jack wisphered to Angelina ears again and this infuriate her.

"Would you leave me the hell alone? She asked in anger which attract the attention of the teacher.

"What's going on there?".

"Jack won't stopped disturbing me, ma'am ".

"Is that true, jack.

Do you suppose to do that during lecturing?

"I am sorry ma'am". He apologized.

Mrs Robert went back to the board and continue writing on the board.

"You will regret this". Jack wisphered again to her ears and she looked away.

It's break time.

Angelina brought out her lunch box which was packed with rice and chicken.

Jack and his two friends walked towards her seat.

"The teacher is no longer here, kiddo".

"If she is no longer here,

What am.i supposed to do?".

"You've been a rude girl, ever since that stupid girl choose you as her friend.

I don't know the audacity that you have in you for reporting me to the teacher".

"If you had behave yourself well,

I would have ignored you but you refused to do so". Angelina said scooping a spoon of food into her mouth.

"I was referring to you about the new guy.

He look so dumb like you".

"I think I am done here". Angelina said standing up from her seat.

She packed her lunch box and wanted to move from her seat when Jack pushed her box away.

Her food split on the floor.

"Oh!

That's too bad.

Sorry dear! Jack mockingly said and walked away.

Angelina sighed out loud and move to pack the food on the floor.

Carl walked towards her.

"Can I help out? He asked.

"You shouldn't bother yourself about it.

Thanks! She said and walked away.

Carl looked around before moving back to his seat.

He is alone and no one interact with him.

He put the burger in his mouth bit by bit and drink the juice with him.

Angelina threw away the dirt in her hand and held her chest, before breathing out three times.

"You can do this, Angelina! She muttered to herself before walking back to the class.

The school has close for the day and Angelina walked over to the bus stop to get a bus that will convey her back home.

A car stopped in front of her and she didn't bother to look at who it is.

"Hop in". Jack said but Angelina ignored him.

"I am talking to you".

"I am not interested in boarding your car.

I will be fine". She muttered.

"You are too proud and arrogant. Anyways, let's move ". Jack said and inform his chaffeur while his two friends giggled at the back of the car.

Angelina looked away and wait patiently for the bus to arrive.

After some minutes,

A bus stopped and everyone walked into the bus.

She sat down and laid her head to the back of the seat.

She look sideway and Carl is already sitted at the other side of the seat.

"Hi". He said

"Hi". She managed to respond.

"When did you get on the bus?

I didn't see you coming in".

"I saw you when you were about to enter the bus, you might not notice me". Carl tried to explain.

"It's okay, Carl.

I don't want to be too forward.

I felt as if you've been tailing me".

"No, I am not.

I guessed everyone I met in my life always have this conviction that I am after them.

Which is not true.

I am a calm person, Angelina.

And why would I tailed you.

This route is the route to my place.

I was trying to be friendly at the class back there... because you've got the calmest face in the entire classroom".

"I'm sorry if I misjudged you.

I do not interact with people that much except for my friend Olive.

I tried as much as possible to maintain my lane ".

"Then, why is that slim guy disturbing you back there in class?".

"He is the bully in our class".

"Then report him! Carl suggested.

"I've did that several times without numbers but his parents has got a power over the school Administration.

Students like us dop- not have a say.

We will just sit down there or stay in one place and keep quiet.

That's how the situation in my school works".

"That's too bad.

"Do you have a personal friend too in your life before coming to my school? Angelina asked.

"I have one friend and his name is Andrew.

He is my closest friend but unfortunately for me, he is out of the states for now.

It is part of the reason why I felt SO lonely".

"Why did you leave your former school? Angelina asked focusing her attention on Carl.

"My grades weren't good and my parents wouldn't stopped complaining about it.

My dad had to withdraw me from the school and put me in the best school in town, which is "your school".

"Do you study at home or why are you lagging behind in studies?

Carl looked into her eyes and smile.

"I guessed we are now friends now". He said changing the topic.

"If we weren't friends, I wouldn't ask you alot of questions about your life.

"Angelina, I don't want to talk about my academic life.

I just want a new change.

"The change begins with you". Angelina said

"Please, can we change the topic?

What is your hobby?

"I don't feel like sharing it with you?

"Why?

"You are hiding the deepest part of your academic life. If you did not talk about it.

How are you going to meet up with the school grade".

"You have a caring voice.

Thanks, Angelina.

I studied alot and I forgot things alot too.

Once I've studied now, in the next minutes, I've forgotten everything that I studied". Carl explained to her.

"That's not a problem.

You are not reading to understand, you are only reading for cramming.

Cramming doesn't make you understand a subject". Angelina said and the bus stopped.

She looked out and it is in her bus stop.

"We will talk tomorrow". She said and left immediately while Carl stayed behind.

Angelina got home and her mum is not back from work.

She changed into a casual wear and went over the fridge for a drink.

"I supposed to visit Olive after this drink". She muttered to herself and dropped the plastic bottle with her.

She grabbed her purse and close the door.

She headed over to Olive house.

Olive is outside the house relaxing when Angelina walked over to her side.

She hugged her from the back.

"Look, who is back here! She giggled.

"I missed you, girlfriend.

You did not have an idea of what my day looks like". Angelina said.

"I know you missed me.

"I do.

I really do.

How's your health?

You were sick when I came in the morning".

"I just felt weak and mum came to the rescue...

"Speaking of mum.

Where is she?

"Not at home.

I am the only person at home and I'm getting better too.

How's school today, Angelina?".

"Boring because of your absence and we have a new student in the class".

"A new student in grade 11".

"Yes, Dear.

You will meet him tomorrow. He seemed nice to me".

"You guys have started talking already? Olive asked.

"Yes".

"You the shy type".

"I don't know.

I felt like talking to him.

His voice is calm.

You will see what I'm talking about tomorrow.

Are you coming to school tomorrow?

"Sure, Dear.

Why wouldn't I come.

My body is now better".

"If you wouldn't come, I would have dragged you there ". Angelina said pulling her hands while she smile back to her.

Olive mother came in.

"You are here, mother. Welcome back ma'am".

"Thank you, Dear.

Your face has worn a big smile since your friend is back on her feet".

"Yes, mum.

"I admired the friendship between the both of you.

You see, I did not have an healthy relationship with my friend during my teenages.

And it's fine.

So, whenever I set my eyes on the both of you, I always admired the kind of friendship that you both shared".

"Thanks, mom". Olive said and stood up to hugged her while Angelina joined to hug her too.

"Love you both". She said and patted their back.

"Let me prepare you something to eat before leaving Angelina.

Don't say No today".she said and left for the kitchen while Angelina shake her head.

"Mum doesn't want me to leave your place whenever I am around ".

"She is just being Mom".

"I know.

I will wait for the meal before getting back to my house.

My mum might came late today ". Angelina said and stayed behind.

Grace arrived back from work and met the house empty without her daughter.

She placed a call to Olive mother.

"Good evening, ma'am.

I'm sorry for disturbing you this evening.

Is Angelina there?".

"Yeah.

She is with me.

I'm sorry, I'm the person that delayed her".

"No problem, Mrs.

Just inform her that I am around".

"I will ma'am ". Olive mother said before ending the call.

Grace sighed out loud and removed her dress, remaining her underwear.

She entered the bathroom to take a shower before changing to a casual wear.

Angelina came back from Olive place and hugged her mother, while she hugged her back.

"Look at you.

You're becoming more matured by the day.

Your face is brighter. What's the matter?

Talk to me. Share the good news with me". She insisted and Angelina explained the state of Olive health to her mother.

"That's a good news and I have another good news for you too, Angelina ".

"What's that mummy?". Angelina asked adjusting on her seat.

"I don't want to share the news with you before but I will feel so bad if I hided such things from you.

Angelina,

I am your mother and I deserve to be happy.

Do you agree with me?

"Yes, mother".

"I am tired of my lonely life without a man. Even though, you are filling up the vacant space in my life but it is not enough to having a man of my choice" Grace said checking her daughter countenance but Angelina did not blink a bit.

She continued...

"So, there is this guy at my place of work.

He is all over me now for the past three months.

I ignored his advances at first but when he keep pestering me with the love and affection.

I decided to give him a chance.

And, Angelina.

I haven't felt like that in a while.

Like, he has a hold over me".

"A hold over you.

Have you fallen for him?

"Yes, Darling.

I tried to stop it from happening but I couldn't.

I have accepted his proposal today".

"So, what next mum?

"We might get married as time goes on ".

"Get married, mum?

At your age?

"What's wrong with my age?

I had you at a very tender age and you've grown up to a matured lady.

I kept myself away from different men so that I can focus on your well being.

Now, you are matured and all grown.

My responsibility is getting lesser now.

I just want to be happy again".

"Mum, I am your happiness.

You don't need any other men in your life again".

"Please, Angelina.

Don't talk me out of it.

I have made up my mind about it.

I am just informing you about it.

I don't want it to look as a sudden news to you.

I want you to have the experience of a father's love in your life.

You haven't experience a father love before?

"I don't want a father, mum. Please, you are enough for me.

I don't want you to be in a relationship".

"Angelina. Stop being a child.

I have withold myself for a long time now.

It's time to witness the real happiness". Grace said and rise up from her seat gently.

Angelina was shocked with the sudden news of having a step father.

"I am old enough to take care of myself.

I don't need any father love". She muttered to herself and stomped her leg on the floor.

How will she get acquainted with the person her mother is bringing home.

She went to her room and locked the door from behind before sinking into deep thought.

After a while.

Grace walked over to Angelina doorstep.

"I prepared mashed potatoes for Dinner.

Would you like some?

"Go away, mum".

"Bad language, daughter.

Open the door first ".

"I can't mum.

I want to be alone".

"Won't you have your dinner?"

"I am full , mum ". Angelina responded.

Grace walked away from her doorstep.

The following day.

Angelina woke up earlier than expected.

She wanted to escape her mother questions.

She dresses up quickly and the time is 6:45am.

She carried her bag and try to sneak out when Grace called her back.

"Leaving so early?

"Yes, mother.

We were told to submit an Assignment this morning".

"Isn't it too early to leave for school?".

"Punctuality is the best, mummy.

Good bye". She said turning back but Grace called her back.

"Is it because of what we discussed last night?

"No, mum".

"I am your mum and I know every of your attitude.

I am only being honest with you. Fine, you may not accept him now but once you start living with him, you will like him".

"I am off to school, mum". Angelina said Changing the topic before stepping out of the house.

Grace shake her head after her daughter left and went to prepare for work.

She arrived at her office and went straight to her seat.

Ben walked over to her seat and held her fingers.

"What's the matter, babe?".

"It's nothing, just feel exhausted this morning".

"Exhausted?

Do you over stressed yourself at home?

"Not at all.

I just prepare for work".

"How is your daughter?".

"She is fine ".

"Would you call for a sick leave and get back to the house?

"I am okay, Ben.

Thanks for your concern". She said with a raised tone and Ben left afterwards.

She turned on her system and start working on it.

Angelina arrived at school with Olive.

She is looking better now.

"Hi, Carl! Angelina said passing through Carl seat.

"Hi.

How was your night?".

"It was fine and yes, Carl.

This is Olive, my best friend in the whole world". She introduced Olive to her and they both exchange pleasantries.

They both walked back to their seat.

"So, Olive.

He is the new student that I told you about yesterday evening ".

"I could see.

It is all written over him.

I am surprised that you could get along with him so fast.

You know, being the introvert part".

"I think I've started migrating to the extrovert part". Angelina said while they both giggled.

Jack arrive with his two friends and they both ignored him.

He walked towards their direction.

"It seemed that the Lion Queen is back to school.

Your friend look like a scared dog yesterday when you aren't around".

Stop reffering her to that sick name, jack.

We've had enough of your trouble.

Why don't you leave us the hell alone? Olive fired back at him.

"I won't leave you alone unless you start respecting me in this class! Jack shouted and everyone looked towards their direction.

"Excuse me,

Respect you as what?

The teacher or what?

"My parents has the control over the administration of this school and that should ring some respect to your ears". Jack said referring to Olive.

"Is there any problem over there?" Carl asked interfering to their conversation.

"Do you have the ability to solve the problem if there is one? Jack returned his question.

"You keep shouting at the two ladies and I have to know if there is a problem with you or not? Carl asked pointing towards jack.

Jack chuckled at what Carl Said before moving towards him.

He stopped at his front and laugh in a wicked manner.

"You are still new to this school and you don't have an idea of how thing runs here.

I will advice you to steer clear of anything that involves the ladies".

"Is that a threat or what? Carl asked.

"Call it anything you like but steer clear of us". He said and walked away.

Carl walked towards the two ladies.

"Are you okay?".

"We are fine.

Thanks for that". Olive appreciated her while he thanked her back.

"But, you should be careful.

Jack is not an easy going person". Angelina added.

"What makes him SO bold of himself.

He think so highly of himself".

"I learnt that his parents are highly influential and have helped this school reputation alot of times. They are highly respected and no one dares their son".

"That is ridiculous.

No wonder, he behave anyhow".

"It is part of the reason why you should avoid him".

"I'm only protecting you guys.

You are my friends and friends protect each other". Carl Said.

"You are meeting me too for the first time. Am I also your friend? Olive asked.

"Angelina's friend is also my friend".

"You are welcome". Olive said and give him an handshake.

The teacher for the next subject came in and they all dismissed.
