Chapter 1 Prologue

" Mommy come on, we are going to be late to the park", little Dylan whined as he bounced happily on his chair. His hair was gelled perfectly and his clothes was neatly ironed. Dylan adjusted his furry coat with his chubby hands.

He could not stop ranting about going late to the carnival. His mother sighed, she looked her son dress in his ceremonial wears.

" Dylan, it is just a carnival not a ceremony", said his mother.

Dylan stomped his foot, his nose flared up.

" I want to look best in the carnival", he huffed.

Dylan's mother, Rachel rubbed her creased forehead. How could she explain to her son that he would not be comfortable in that when they get there?

" Look Dylan, I know you are very excited for this but you can not go like this", she spoke softly to her nine years old son.

" Dylan you heard me, I said you........"

Bang. Bang!

What was that sound?

The sound went on until they heard a shrill cry of a woman.

Her husband dashed into the room, his claws were elongated as blood dripped from it. He quickly shut the door.

Rachel stared at him wide eyed, she could smell the scent of his blood mixed with an enemy's blood.

" The raven pack are here, they are killing our people", he said harshly.

The noises outside got louder, Dylan hid behind his mother's leg.

" Take the boy with you and hide somewhere in the secret passage"

" What about you?", Rachel asked, she was feeling scared and concerned.

" Just do as I say, now"

" Please be safe"

Dylan and his mother ran to the secret passage that lead to the forest.

She clutched her son tightly in her arms, praying for God's mercy.

" Mommy, what is going on?", Dylan cried. He was trembling like a leaf beside his mother. She held her son with her hands, cradling him to her chest.

" Shhhhh, everything is fine", she hushed him.

After some moments of silence, Rachel stood up carefully.

" Dylan wait here, let me go and find your father", said Rachel.

" Mom please don't leave me here alone", Dylan begged.

" Do you remember the story I told you about the brave king?", His mother asked as she pulled her son closer to her.

" Yes mommy, the king was very brave that he slayed the evil dragon", Dylan grinned, he flexed his skinny arms to which his mother laughed.

" I want you to be brave like the king, okay?"

Dylan nodded, his mother handed him his favourite story book about the brave king. " Keep this with you and remember my darling, be brave because one day, you will become the alpha of this pack."

" I will be back but if daddy or mommy does not come back for you, you run okay? "

Dylan nodded his head, he crouched down behind the wall hoping for his parents to come back soon.

After some minutes, his father came and he was covered in blood.

" Daddy you are here", Dylan smiled. " Where is mommy?"

His father, alpha Drew eyes rimmed red, he quickly cleaned his face as a lone tear fell.

" Father where is mommy?", Dylan asked again. The young boy knew there was something wrong.

" Come on son, we have to leave this place", Drew dragged his son out of where he hid.

" No, no daddy I want mommy."

Drew stopped immediately that his son almost crashed into him. He had no time to explain to his son that his mother is dead, even if he had, would his little one understand?

When Dylan kept on crying for his mother, Alpha Drew sighed harshly.

" Don't you get it, your mother is dead, she is never coming back", he roared. He should not have said that to the poor boy.

"No!", Dylan cried.

" Come on son"

" No, I want mommy", Dylan cried.

Drew carried his son far away from his pack, he ran as fast as he could with an inhumane speed to get his son to the hidden gateway.

When he got there, he let Dylan stand on his feet, Drew look around to be sure they were not followed.

He had to do it, his son was the only treasure he has left, he could not afford to lose that too. The Raven pack already killed his mother.

" Drink this Dylan", Drew handed a bottle to his son which he reluctantly took.

He drank the liquid, scrunching his face at how bitter it was.

Suddenly, Dylan became drowsy, he wobbled towards his father.

" Father", the little boy whispered.

" I am so sorry son, I have to do this", Drew cried.

He watched as he son fell asleep in his arms.

The portion he gave his son was to make him forget everything about what happened and who he was, it was given to him by the pack witch to protect him from the alpha of the raven pack and to hide his scent.

Drew brought out a pendant, he slit his hand open with his elongated teeth, pouring the blood on it.

The pendant vibrated in his hands, it glowed brightly, vibrating profusely.

A red light shown between a twin tree, it was a portal to the human world. Only the true Alphas can access the portal.

He carried his son gently, disappearing with the red light.

Drew roamed around the human world with his son in his arms. He looked for a perfect place to leave Dylan.

He came across a big house, it was very high and big. Drew has never seen something like that before.

Human world will always remain a mystery to him, they have so many metal carriages carrying the human and was too colorful for his eyes.

Drew dropped his son in front of a tall building, he removed the necklace from his neck and attached the pendant to it before placing it on Dylan's neck.

" You will be safe here", drew whispered. He knew immediately he go back to his world, he will be executed.

" Keep this safe, it will be useful for you when you turn twenty", placing a gentle kiss on Dylan's cheek, he cried silently.

No time to waste, Alpha Drew ran back to his world before the portal closed.

This was the beginning of his son's fate.

Chapter 2 The beginning

Amani

The moment she stepped into the hall, the sound blast from the musical instruments. Keeping her head down, she made sure her coat was on and covering her head.

" Hey Ama", Amani's friend shouted running towards her, she was trying to avoid her and now....

"Hey, Lucy", Amani greeted her turning to make sure she wasn't seen. Moving backwards, she ran into a goblin stealing coins from creatures dancing. He sneered at her to which she quickly apologize.

"Let us leave here", Lucy said dragging her away from the sound. Amani covered her eyes seeing different creatures dancing. A goblin and a ghoul dancing , she mentally gagged. Worst combination ever.

"Hey Amani, I am so glad you came", Lucy bounced happily. Twirling in the air.

"Okay, okay, stop it", Amani dragged her down. They are already attracting others attention.

Lucy is a fairy, she is always happy. Flapping her wings , she squeaked.

"What is wrong with you?", Amani was getting annoyed, her happiness was always out of point. She is her best friend and Amani love her but when she get too excited, she misbehaves.

"Where is he?" Amani asked her. She referred to their third friend, a demon. When she heard no reply, she turned , Lucy shot her a look. A very weird look

"Where is your brother?", She sighed dreamily. Lucy had always been in love with her brother.

Amani rolled her eyes. "I do not know and I do not care", she drawled.

Ordering a witch brew, she sank into the chair. A beautiful male with a pearly white fangs approached her, he smiled at her but quickly stopped in his steps when Amani shot him a deathly look.

Vampires are fucking flirt or maybe just her ex boyfriend who dumped her for an angle. They do not even match each other, fuck them. Even though an Angel was his mate and he was younger than Amani, still he has no right to dump her like that.

*****Flashback******

Amani smiled when she stood at the back of the wooden door, in her hands contains the woolen sweater she weaved for her vampire boyfriend.

Amani tiptoed into the dark room, she couldn't wait to celebrate his birthday together.

As she climbed the stairs, it creaked under her wooden sandal. The strange noises coming from his room made her frown, what was that sound?

She slowly opened the door and screamed. Amani saw her vampire boyfriend laying on the bed naked with a naked lady with wings on top of him.

She was bouncing and moaning his name while her boyfriend was blindfolded.

" Corey!", She yelled.

Corey quickly scrambled out of the bed, the blindfold on his face made him look like an idiot.

He removed it and retreated when Amani launched at him. She punched him in the face.

" You cheat, how dare you, how dare you", she screamed. The angel tried to pry her off him but Amani was too strong for her.

Light shot out from her raised hand and blasted the Angel across the room.

" Stop it Amani, please stop it. She is my mate", Corey cried with swollen lips.

The fist that was about to land on his face froze in the air.

His mate.

She stood up on her wobbly legs, the more she moved, the more painful stab her heart felt.

Amani looked between the newest couple before bolting out of the room into the forest.

*******End of flashback******

Amani let out air from her mouth as she sipped on her drink.

All she wanted to do was to drink and die as a lonely lady. She will clock twenty on the next full moon and she was without a mate.

In the creatures world, at eighteen, every creatures get mated but her case was different.

She has no mate, her grandma even tried match making her with other creatures, that maybe she will see her mate but none was her mate.

She dated an angel, a demon and even a cheating bastard vampire, all found their mate not her.

Lucy will be eighteen, her scent will be more prominent so that she will be able to find her mate. Amani prayed to the gods that her friend's mate should not be her brother.

Slow music played in Amani's ears, she groaned as she covered her ears. She felt like stepping on the stage and cut off the head of the musicians.

Love songs, love her foot.

Different murderous thoughts came running in her mind as she thought of how to stop this sorrowful music. She came here to relax not to listen to some music.

Her thoughts were interrupted when a scared looking Lucy flew towards her. She almost crashed into her.

" What is wrong?", Amani asked as she finished her fifth brew.

" I saw your brother, he is here", Lucy wheezed.

Shit! Her brother must not see her here. Amani looked around for a hiding spot.

" Amy, I kind of crashed into him and spilled the truth that you are here", Lucy feebly said.

Amani groaned, she quickly stood up but it was too late.

A raging warlock marched towards them.

" Amani McGonagall", Jadin, her brother roared. He was as mad as a bull. It runs in the family, they get riled up easily.

" Hey brother", Amani laughed sheepishly. " What are you doing here?", She asked, even though she knew why he was here.

" I should be the one to ask that, what are you doing here when grandma strictly warned you not to ever come here", he said harshly.

Amani rolled her eyes, she do not understand the reason why they are too protective of her. " I am sorry brother", she apologized.

They were already creating a scene as the creatures were looking their way.

" Amani, you should always listen to your brother", Lucy interjected. " Why do you like to trouble him?."

" I am sorry", she whispered to Amani.

" You are a bad sister, bad bad sister", she added.

" You are still my best friend", she whispered again to Amani.

Amani just stared at her friend's foolishness, she sighed and thought of how she became friends with her in the first place.

" Let us go home", Jadin dragged her through the crowd. When he successfully dragged his sister out, he threw her on her horse almost like she was a soft wool.

" You are grounded young lady", Jadin growled.

Amani sighed, today had been a hard day for her to argue with her brother, she laid on her horse, watching the stars in the cloud.

Her ears are going to bleed when her grandmother start with her.

Lucy flew silently with them, she gave her best friend her best puppy look she could mustered.

Amani sighed, she did not realize she has become a sighing machine as she kept on sighing to everything.

When they arrived at the cavern, they were greeted with powerful smell of portions and roots.

This was Lucy's cue to leave, Amani's grandmother is a very scary old woman with deep frown etched on her face, she rarely smile. That was what Amani inherited from her grandma, the frown and anger.

" Amy dear, I will see you tomorrow", Lucy bid her good bye before she flew in the dark night.

" Amani Elenore McGonagall, you sneaked out again", her grandmother, Jadis, crossed her arms as she raised a slow brow.

" I am sorry grandma", Amani apologized.

" I have always told you not to wander off like that you never listen to me."

"Wait, where is your tailsman?", Her grandma asked, her nose flared up.

" It is here with me", she replied as she searched her pocket for her ring. She frowned when she could not find it.

" It was here grandma, I swear I kept it safe in my pocket", she continued to search the pocket of her woolen jacket.

It must have fallen off at the party. " I will look for it grandma, I will find it", she swore.

" Amani, what will I do to you?", her grandma shook her head. " Go to your room and make sure you pratice your grimoire", Jadis dismissed her grandchild. She was getting old and she needed a successor to take over her portion business but her grandchild chose to be a werewolf hunter.

Amani always behave like a boy, full of energy and strength. Maybe being a werewolf hunter was not that bad, at least she would be able to hunt down those filthy dogs.

Jadis continued with the portion she was making, she looked over her shoulder at her grandson who was helping her select plants for her portions.

" Jadin, make sure you keep your eyes on her."

" Yes grandma."

Chapter 3 Wolf hunt

The next morning, Amani strapped her waist bag securely on her waist and her sword held lazily on her hand.

Amani stood with her feet apart and she twirled her sword in her hand.

Slash!

She cut down the stem of a small tree with her sword. Circling her wooden dummies she use for training, she let out a war cry as she lunged towards it. She landed a kick on the stomach, slashing the head with her sword.

Amani let down her chain weapon, she rolled it up her arm, punching the dummy with it.

She panted as she spar with the dummies, Amani bent, jumped and kick the wooden dummies.

She let out all her anger, her emotions on it.

Her grandmother watched her from distance, she shook her head and walked towards Amani.

She was careful enough not to near her granddaughter during training because she can slice her throat, so Jadis stood some distance away from her grandchild.

Amani ears twitched, she slowed down her movement as she listened to the soft footsteps that approached her. Someone was behind her and she knew who it was.

Amani smirked, she widen her stance. With the chain securely wrapped around her arms.

She let down the chain, making a soft thud when it hit the ground.

Amani curled her fingers around the chain with her swore readily positioned in front of her, she moved gracefully on her feet as she turned and released the chain.

It curled around the waist of the intruder as he fell on the ground.

" Amani!", Jadin exclaimed and scowled at his sister. Amani snickered, she knew he was behind her.

" I have always told you to stop sneaking up at me like that", Amani defended her wrong acts.

Jadis who stood behind watching the scene laughed as her grandchildren bickered with each other.

" You should be careful Amani, you shouldn't be practicing at home", Jadin argued.

" Want me to take it out on you? Want me to turn you to my dummy?", Amani challenged her brother.

" Enough kids, quit arguing with each other", Jadis said as she walked towards her grandchildren. " And Amani, he is your older brother. Never forget that."

" I am sorry brother", Amani grunted.

" Now move along kids and practice the new spells I taught you."

Amani was about to leave when the werewolf hunters came to her.

" Jadis, Jadin , Amani", their leader, Chioma acknowledged her family.

Anytime they came to her house, it was only meant for one thing, a werewolf in their turf.

Amani stood up straighter, she glanced at her grandmother who gave her an nod of approval.

" Be careful Amani", Jadin said, he felt concerned for his sister as those wet dogs can be very dangerous.

" I will, Jadin."

Amani left with her fellow hunters.

~~~~~~~~~
Amani positioned herself on the tree branch, she looked down from the trees waiting for the werewolf to pass by.
Those beasts are very fast and hostile so she has to be careful when dealing with one of them.
The horn blow was a signal to her from her other hunters.
Not long, the werewolf ran past her. Amani jumped from tree to tree as she steadied herself. Years of training made her strong and light on her feet.
When she was out of trees, she jumped down and landed perfectly on her feet.
Twirling around, she let out her chain as she flung it on the werewolf's neck. It whimpered but still struggled to free itself.
The werewolf knew there was no way out of her clutches so it chose to attack her.
Bearing its fangs at her, it hunched over and lunged towards her.
Amani dodged its attacks easily, she made a quick swings from below but was easily warded off by the wolves as it slammed her against the tree.
Amani hissed as she felt her back ache but that didn't stop her. With determination, Amani tightened her hold on her chain, she dragged it as the wolf moaned.
Amani secured the metal chain around a nearby tree , it tried to free itself but she can't let that happen.
She brought out a small knife from her waist bag and some plants. The silver metal glistened in the sun.
Amani tilted her lips upward in an arrogant way when she saw the wolf's pupils dilated.
" Smell this?", She asked as she crouched down beside the struggling wolf with the wolf bane in her hand.
" Wolf bane."
The wolf whimpered, it stopped struggling as it waited for her to kill it.
Amani sighed, these wolves are forbidden yet she always pardoned the one she caught but not without giving it a cut or injuries.
" I will let you go but next time you return to Isimaya, I won't hesitate to rip your head off", Amaya threatened.
Isimaya ( head) belong to the witches, vampires and other creatures, Amora ( middle) belong to the werewolves and the last one Antiaya ( tail) belong to the outlanders.
Isimaya and Amora were one before the evil moon pack Alpha destroyed the balance between them. He treated them as slaves and imprisoned their leaders, when the creatures fought for their freedom and freed the elders. They divided the kingdom into two parts, the werewolves and the creatures.
The wolf bowed it head, probably as an honor or whatever, she didn't care.
Amani released the werewolf and moved away from it. " I am dead serious on what I just said. Tell your people not to cross part with us or else.....", She warned.
The wolf tried to run but couldn't so it limped away into the forest.
After some moments, the other hunters arrived.
" Did you catch the wolf?", Chioma demanded.
" No, I didn't. It was too fast and I was out of trees so I fell off and twisted my ankle", Amani lied and even limped to prevent any form of doubts.
" You should take a break", Phoebe said as she patted Amani's shoulder.
The group consist of three girls and a boy.
Chioma, the leader of the group and also known as the eyes. She is an angle with the power of prediction. She inform the group whenever there is a wolf in their territory.
Phoebe, the right hand to Chioma which was originally meant for Amani but she turned it down saying she choose to be free. Phoebe is a vampire, the strongest in the group.
