The human luna

It was a stressful day as usual for Laura as she walked towards a bar not far from her house. She went there everyday after school not to get herself a drink but to resume duty as a steward. She had to take the job because she needed it to sustain herself in school as she was an orphan. Her parents died to a car accident when she was fifteen and she had been by herself since then as she was the only child of her parents. No family members, no siblings to turn up to so she had to take care of herself by herself.

She had been doing this for five years now and it seemed as though she had gotten used to it. She got to her work place late as usual. Thank goodness her boss was a very nice and understanding man. Kevin was a man in his 50's who also had a daughter around the same age as Laura which had made him to be nice and considerate towards Laura. He was a very strict man but with Laura, he was always different. He took Laura as his daughter and was always there for her whenever she needed his help even though Laura would never ask. Laura herself was a very hardworking girl who doesn't joke with her job which had earned her so much love from her boss, her coworkers and even some of her customers who couldn't do without tipping her everyday. Laura entered the bar through the back door and quickly changed into her uniform in the changing room. She slightly opened the door of the room next to the changing room and put her head in with a smile on her face.

"Hi Kevin" She greeted her boss.

"Oh hi Laura. How was school today?" Kevin answered looking up from the laptop on his desk.

"Yeah great. I'm sorry for coming to work late, it won't happen again" Laura said to him with a sad face.

"Well, you always say that." Kevin said to her and they both bursted into laughter.

"I'll see you later. I need to get to work" She said.

"Sure" Kevin said as Laura closed the door and went away.

Laura went through the balcony towards the bar to start her work for the day. She greeted her coworkers with a smile and then started attending to customers.

"Hey" one customer called and Laura quickly went over to him.

"Hi. What will you like to have?" She asked politely.

"What's your name?" The stranger asked.

"What?!!!" Laura asked perplexed. None of the customers had ever asked for her name, they just got to know with time. Looking at this stranger, she never thought she had seen him before. ''He's definitely here for the first time'' She thought.

"I'm Alex. What's your name?" The stranger asked again.

"My name is Laura. What will you like to have?" She told him her name regardless, also asking him what he would like to have a second time. She suddenly felt the need to assess the guy and she realized how handsome he was. She looked at him guessing what his height could be even though he was sitting down. He was very muscular and strong, more like a bodybuilder. Laura suddenly found herself drooling over this stranger before she quickly called herself to order.

"Wine" he finally answered with a smile while his eyes were fixed on Laura.

"Oh! Okay. Give me a minute" She said as she turned to leave.

"Your hair"

"What?" Laura asked again confused.

"The color of your hair. It's wine." He said, his gaze still fixed on her.

"Oh! Yeah, my hair. It's wine" Laura said smiling uncomfortably. "So, what should I get for you now?"

"I'll take red wine" Alex said. Laura nodded and left with his gaze following her.

Laura came back few seconds later to give him his drink and then left to attend to other customers. Alex kept looking at her as she attended to other customers. At a point, he saw a male customer looking at her buttocks and his eyes darkened, clenching his big fists under the table. He was so angry he felt like snapping his head off his neck but he controlled himself. Few minutes later, he saw her attending to two guys sitting together around a table. Few seconds after she left their table, he heard the two guys saying to each other.

"Look at her roouunnd ass" the first guy said staring at Laura's backside as she left to get their drinks.

"I've been having wet dreams about her for long, I can't wait to have her tonight" the second guy said licking his lips.

"Me too. We're gonna fuck her hard she'll scream her lungs out" the first guy whispered to his friend and they laughed out loud.

Alex was fuming where he sat. He wouldn't have heard them if he was a normal human being considering the distance of where he was sitting to theirs. He was a werewolf. An alpha werewolf. He growled lowly feeling like spilling blood. ''what are they planning to do?'' he thought. "Nobody touches what is mine" he said lowly gritting his teeth. He returned his gaze back to Laura and watched every step she took. With his gaze on her beautiful face, he relaxed a bit. Soon, it was time to close and all the customers including the two guys had left except Alex.

"Sir, we've closed for the day" one of the bartenders came to him. Her name was sophie. She looked at him seductively. "Need someone to keep your company for the night? You look good." She said again biting her bottom lip and winking at Alex.

"Call me Laura" Alex said to her coldly.

"Laura?" She asked looking angry. "Laura can't handle you like I will. I'm even sure that bitch is still a virgin."

"Call. Me. Laura!!!" Alex repeated tightly gritting his teeth and exuding his coldest aura that scares even the hardest of hearts.

Sophie froze. She was scared to the bones. She quickly retreated and nodded, scurrying off quickly to call Laura. "Be careful Laura, there is something strange about that man" she said to Laura as soon as she got to her and told her Alex needed her to attend to him instead.

"It's fine" Laura replied with a smile as she went over to Alex.

"Sir you asked for me" she said immediately she got to his table.

"Alex, not sir." He said a little bit angry.

"Oh! Alex. We've closed for today Alex." Laura said as politely as she could.

"How much is my bill?" He asked.

"20 dollars sir... uhm sorry Alex" she said

Alex dipped his hand into his breast pocket and brought out a 100 dollar bill and pointed it at her.

" Here. You can keep the change." He said as he stood up to leave.

Laura was beyond surprised. 80 dollars tip? She had not received a tip that much since she started working. She was so happy. She looked up to thank him but he was gone. She turned around and walked back towards the counter. She finished with the account for the day, changed out of her uniform, said bye to Steve and her coworkers and left happily.

Laura walked quietly and fast to her house. Her house was not too far from her work place so she usually trekked. The only problem was that the road to her house was usually very quiet with few houses around. She used to be scared at first, but she grew more confident walking alone along the road with time. She was thinking about the stranger she met at work and all what transpired between them when she suddenly felt uncomfortable. She felt like someone was following her. She wanted to look back to see if someone was actually following her but she was too scared to do so.

She quickened her steps with her heart beating like it was going to come out of her chest. She noticed the footsteps was getting closer and she thought of what to do but nothing came to her mind. If she should run, whoever was following her would catch up with her in no time as there was no place for her to run to. She was getting closer to a narrow road that led to her street and got more scared because that road was the most dangerous. She was crying and then as she got to the junction of the narrow road that led to her street, her adrenaline shot up to 101% and she ran as fast as her feet could carry her. As she was running, she noticed whoever was following her started running after her. The footsteps did not sound like that of just one person, it sounded like they were two or more. She kept running while her chasers got more closer. She had only ran a short distance when they caught up with her. She screamed!!!

Alex got out of the bar, took some steps forward when he smelt people around. Two people. He stylishly traced the smell and saw them where they were hiding. They couldn't see him because everywhere was dark but he could see them clearly being a werewolf. He realized they were the two guys he overheard talking about his Laura. Remembering what they both discussed angered him more and then something strucked in his head. ''could they be hiding here because of my woman?'' he thought. He decided to wait somewhere in the dark and see what they were up to but he was sure they were up to no good. Few minutes later, Laura got out of the bar and started walking home. The two intruders waited for like ten seconds before moving out of their hiding place and followed her, Alex then followed slowly behind them. They kept following Laura with Alex a little bit distanced from the other two guys but they did not notice him coming behind them cos he was very fast and swift due to the fact that he was a werewolf, not a human like them. At some point, they looked back to check if no one was coming behind them but before they could fully turn their heads, Alex had disappeared. He moved like air, it was as if he was never there. The two guys, happy no one was also following at that point in time discretely kept following Laura. Alex came out of his hiding place and started following them again. He suddenly smelt fear from Laura and he was so enraged. His eyeballs changed from blue to the darkest black color. The fear coming from Laura grew stronger and he could even hear her heart beat. He mind-linked Randolph his beta and best friend.

"Meet me at dove's avenue in five minutes" he said coldly through the link.

"Okay Alpha" Randolph replied at the other end. Randolph would have made a joke at that moment but he knew better not to. He knew whenever Alex speaks with that kind of tone, something serious was about to happen or had just happened. He quickly gestured to an omega and they both got into the car and drove off.

Alex shut the link with his beta and saw they had gotten to the junction of a narrow road and suddenly Laura started running while the two guys ran after her. They caught up with her in no time and surrounded her. One of the guys stood in front of her while the other guy stood behind her. They were both smirking down at her.

"What do you want from me?" Laura asked them with a shaky voice.

"We just want to have a taste of your sweet, sexy body bi*ch" one of them said while he got more closer to her.

"No. Pls don't do that. I'll give you all the money I have, my phone, everything. Please don't hurt me please" she said already in tears.

"Hahahahaha money? Do we look like we are hungry to you? Oh! Well, maybe we're hungry, hungry of your beautiful body baby." the other guy said and stretching his hand to grab her a*s when his head suddenly went off. Laura and the remaining guy opened their mouths in shock. They both looked at each other like they could get answers from each other's faces. It took a while for them to realize that the other guy was dead without even knowing what happened. Laura's feet felt like it was stucked to the ground. She couldn't move, she couldn't scream, she just stood there with her eyes and mouth wide open thinking of what could have happened. The other guy finally realizing his friend was dead with his head nowhere to be found, he looked at Laura with wide eyed and thought she could be the culprit. ''maybe she's a witch'' he thought and was slowly moving away from her. Laura was looking at him as he moved away from her with her eyes still widely opened. She had not yet recovered from the shock. She did not even know if she should run or stay. Even if she wants to run, to which direction would it be? She was so shakened with fear, she didn't know what to do. She kept watching the man back away from her and then as he turned to run but all of a suddenly he stopped and she saw him being lifted off the ground and a hand was wrapped around his neck squeezing life out of him. She moved her eyes from the hand up to see it's owner, and then she saw him. He was looking straight into her eyes, obviously furious and that sent a cold chill down her spine.

"You again?" She said still looking at him.

"Nobody touches what is mine!!!" Alex replied with gritted teeth. Still looking at her, he tightened his hand around the culprit's neck while the later fought for his life. He kept squeezing his neck until there was a crushing sound and boom!!! his head went off. His blood splattered all over the place. It was like a horror movie to Laura. When the guy's head went off, Laura screamed and fainted.

One minute later, a car pulled over beside them and Randolph and the Omega that followed him from the pack house got out of the car and walked towards Alex and Laura. Alex was carrying Laura in his arms and immediately he saw the car, he walked towards it and met Randolph and the Omega midway.

"Take care of this mess" he said looking at the Omega.

"Okay Alpha" the Omega replied bowing his head. Randolph opened the back door of the car for Alex to enter and then went over to the driver's seat and zoomed off.

Laura woke up later to find herself lying on a king sized bed. She looked around the room and realized it did not look like her room in anyway. She then remembered all what happened and the fear was back. She suddenly felt a slight headache and subconsciously touched her forehead, squeezing her face.

''Here. This will help ease the pain" She suddenly heard someone talk beside her. She flinched and looked towards where the voice came from and she saw Alex holding a cup of water in one hand and drugs in the other hand pointed towards her. She didn't know when he got there. 'or has he been here all along?' she thought. She noticed he smiled but didn't say a word. He later sat beside her and looked at her face before pointing the drugs towards her again. Laura moved a little bit away from him as he sat beside her. She fixed her eyes on him focusing on his every move. She didn't trust him one bit. He killed two people in front of her without blinking, only God knows why he had not killed her yet. Maybe he wanted to torture her first before killing her. Well, she had suffered so much. Besides, she had no family, no siblings, nobody to mourn her when she's finally dead. Maybe death wasn't really a bad idea anyways. She carefully took the drugs and cup of water from him and swallowed them.

"Why did you decide to poison me rather than snap my neck like you killed those two?" She asked.

"What!! That was a painkiller I gave you, to ease your headache" He said to her furrowing his brows. 'how could she even think I would want to kill her. If only she knows how much she means to me' he thought, a little bit disappointed.

"Okay then. Thanks for the 'painkillers'. Can I go now?" She asked again emphasizing on the"painkillers".

"No. You're going nowhere." He said

"And why if I may ask?"

"I don't want you to go"

"Why? You think I will take some antidote or something to neutralize the poison?"

"I. did. not. give. you. poison. I am not going to hurt you, okay? I just want you to relax for a bit before going home. Maybe tomorrow, you can leave for your house or wherever you want to go" Alex said angrily. He stood from the bed and left her in the room while he locked the door after him. Few minutes later, Laura heard the door clicked open and a young lady came in. She looked a bit older than her with her hair packed in a ponytail style. She was a bit chubby and short but beautiful. The young lady dropped the tray she was holding on the table next to Laura. She smiled at Laura and bowed her head slightly.

"Good morning my lady" the young lady said.

"Morning? You mean night?" Laura asked confused.

"It's morning my lady. You were brought in by alpha...uhm sir Alex last night" the young lady said to her. Laura was shocked. 'So, I actually spent the night here in this strange man's house and he has not killed me yet? Is he going to turn me into his slave? What exactly does he want from me?' she said to herself.

"Uhm ma'am, my name is sandy and I've been assigned to you as your personal maid. Please call me Incase you need anything. You can always use the phone on the table" Sandy said again bowing her head slightly.

"Thank you sandy. I'm laura" Laura said, stretching her hand towards sandy for a handshake. Sandy respectfully took her hand while bowing her head at the same time.

"Nice to meet you ma'am." She said

" Please don't refer to me as ma'am. We should be around the same age. Besides, I'll soon become a maid like you so quit the ma'am thing with me, okay?" Laura said to sandy with a sad smile on her face. "Can I ask you some questions?" She asked sandy.

"Yes ma'am, please go ahead" sandy said.

"Alex is your boss, right?"

"Yes ma'am." Sandy answered, careful of her replies.

"What does he do? Is he a serial killer or some mafia lord or something? You can talk to me, I promise I won't tell anyone." Laura asked almost in a whisper.

" I... I'm sorry ma'am, I don't know anything about that. I think you should talk to sir Alex himself, he'll be able to provide answers to your questions." Sandy bowed and quickly left the room.

Laura stood up from the bed after sandy left. She walked towards the windows and moved the curtains to one side. She could see lots of shirtless men outside seriously fighting each other with their bulging muscles dripping with sweat. These men were very strong mere looking at them. She was sure she couldn't stand a chance against them. She thought of a way to escape. 'the whole villa seems to be surrounded' she thought. 'what if I find a rope to jump down the window, probably at night. Yes!!! That should work. There would be fewer men outside and I'll be able to escape that way' she thought, a little bit relieved.

"Don't even try it!!!" Alex said behind her. She jumped at the deep voice. She was so lost in thought she didn't notice when he got in. She was scared to the bones. 'what's he even talking about. She didn't say that out loud, did she?' she thought.

"What are you talking about?" She asked confused.

"You know what I'm talking about. Do not even try to escape, else I'll kill you" Alex stated a bit pissed. Laura's heart beat increased. She knew he wasn't bluffing considering the drama he pulled off last night. She quietly nodded her head. 'how did he know I was planning to escape? Is it because I was standing by the window?' she thought to herself. She made up her mind not to let her guard down again if she really wants to get out of that hell hole alive. She slowly moved away from the window and went to sit back on the bed while Alex followed her to the bed. He also sat down and carried the tray on the bed side table, he took a cutlery and scooped a spoonful of food and pointed it towards Laura. She shook her head but when her eyes met his cold ones, she quickly opened her mouth and took the food. Immediately the food entered her mouth, her stomach growled and that was when she realized she had not eaten since afternoon of the previous day. Besides, the food was very delicious. He fed her more spoonfuls of food until she was satisfied.
