Emily Dowanda, a humble country girl from a small town has always dreamed of a better life filled with love, and comfort for her and her mother. She gets a chance to visit las vegas in search of her old school college mate.
As she took in the sight of las vegas with wide, hopeful eyes, she slowly walked past the busy tarred road. This was her first taste of a world so different from her quiet town, where dirty untarred roads and open skies had been her entire life. In her secondhand sundress and scuffed shoes, she felt almost invisible in the city's neon glow, and she didn't mind. Here, she was just another face, free to dream.
As she strolled down the bustling street, a commotion drew her attention. Just a few paces ahead, a man was being pulled into an alley by two bulky figures. His suit perfectly tailored and expensive - stood out in stark contrast to the rough hands pinning him to the wall. She couldn't see his face clearly, but his movements were restrained and panicked.
Emily was shocked to see such a scene, she gazed with her mouth wide open. Without thinking, Emily's feet moved, she knew she wasn't much of a fighter but she couldn't just stay back and watch someone struggling for his life. She grabbed a metal trash lid from the alley entrance and stormed in, shouting. " Hey! Get off him".
One of the men turned, sneering at her, "Beat it girl, this isn't your business". Emily's pulse started to thrum with defiance. Swinging the lid with all of her might, she managed to smack the thug in the arm, surprising him enough to loosen his grip on the stranger (unbeknownst to her was a rich billionaire ceo). With a sharp twist, the man in suit freed himself, landing a quick jab at his other captor. She knew his face now- sharp jawline, brown hair, intense eyes that flicked to her, assessing her with surprise.
The two men stunned at her unexpected interference and scared of her drawing people's attention with what is happening there, scrambled off, cursing as they disappeared down the alley. The stranger leaned against the wall, catching his breathe. Emily approached him cautiously, with her heart panting with the adrenaline of her sudden bravery. "Are you okay sir?" She asked.
The man looked up, with his face filled with anger sighed and turned his face away from Emily. Emily was stunned as to what gave him the guts, but she decided to stay calm. "Sir, are you hurt?" She asked again. This time the man feeling disturbed by Emily shouted," what do you expect? What do you also expect from me ?" As he looked at Emily with disdain while he coit his rumpled suit.
Emily, feeling speechless and humiliated, turned to him, this time without fear and said" is this what i get from saving you from those men? Do you know what they would have done to you if i had not interfered? Do you also know i just put my life at risk to save you from what i actually don't know if you are the real culprit here?" She asked with her voice filled with hurt. "I see the reason why people don't help any more on this day" she continued. "It isn't your fault, I'm to be blamed because i porknosed into what doesn't concern me, Emily this serves you right, next time you will mind your business", she said to herself.
The man was shocked to hear all that from Emily, as he has never seen anyone standing up against him all his life, all his employees take order from him and don't talk back to him. The man seeing the frustration in Emily's voice decided to give her money for all her troubles. "How much do you need?" He asked, without bothering to look at Emily's face, because he believes Emily knew him and came to his rescue so she can get compensated.
Emily frowned the more and ask him,"do you think everything is about money? Or i'm after your money?". Emily sighed, turned, and left with anger. As she was stepping out , a man dressed in black suit like a bodyguard rushed to the scene, shouting, "sir, sir, are you okay?". As he ran towards the ceo, Emily, not looking back, walked past and left.
The billionaire ceo was puzzled as he has never met anyone who rejected him, not to talk of a low life girl turning down his offer. He asked his bodyguard to follow her in other to know where she lives. The bodyguard ran out not knowing the direction she took, mistook the wrong path and couldn't find her. He ran back to the ceo to report his findings that he couldn't find her.
The billionaire ceo shouted at him, "how could you let her out of your sight seeing she walked out on me?" No one has ever done that to me, never! He screamed at the top of his voice commanding the bodyguard to search all through the city to look for her. He angrily left the alley.
Emily on her way to her childhood friend Jane Peterson's house, kept wondering about the kind of man she encountered earlier, she kept soliloquizing as she walks to Jane's house. On opening the door, Jane who was preparing dinner noticed Emily's countenance and wondered what could be wrong with her friend. She walked up to Emily to enquiry what xould be the problem. "Emily what's wrong? You don't look yourself, what happened?".
Emily no longer having the energy to hold back her aggression poured her pains out to Jane. "Do you know I rescued a man that was been held down by some hefty men, and all i could get was insult and was treated with disdained by him?". Emily said. "Who is he?" Jane asked? "How will I know when he never appreciated my effort?" Emily said. " Immagine i even picked up a heavy rod and hit ome of the men, me that can't fight, thank God they didn't hurt me, what would I have told my late mother?" Emily added further. Jane upon hearing this bust into laughter, and told Emily not to be angry.
"This is a city, next time you mind your business and walk pass, you don't even know what caused the attack or better still next time call the police" Jane advised as she encouraged Emily to forget about the incident and focus and why she came to the city. Get yourself ready for tomorrow's interview. Emily nodded and smiled.
----------------
Ten years later, at the 5 star hotel owned by Roberto Harrington, there were two openings, one for janitors and the other was a position for the hotel's secretary. Emily came prepared for the position of the company's janitor unaware to her there was also an opening for the company's secretary. As she walked into the hotel, she saw applicants who were all holding files and are dressed in corporate attires, looking and smelling nice. Emily, dressed in her sundress, was astonished as to why would most of them come in to apply for the post of a janitor as they look educated, this and more filled her heart as she walked into the waiting area.
As she was about sitting down in the waiting room, a scheming woman hurriedly rushed to were Emily was about sitting and pushed her down to the floor while she occupied Emily's sit. This scene drew the attention of everyone there, as they steer at Emily who sat helplessly on the floor. Before Emily could say a word, the scheming woman announced to everyone that the job vacancy is only for the educated. She asked Emily if she didn't get the information before applying?
Everyone around fixed their attention on Emily as she quietly stood up from the floor and picked up her files, they kept their gaze at her as they discussed her look. The scheming woman told her that there's no job for someone like her in the 5 star hotel, shw advised her to go look for job at the guest house down the street or better still go work at a bar. Everyone around laughed at Emily.
Just then, the Human Resources manager came to announce that the interview will be held by the CEO himself. Everyone is seen murmuring, as some of them adjusted their clothes, while some brought out their lipstick to apply on their faces and mirror to look at their looks. Emily was just standing by one end of the corner as she looks at everyone and prayed in her heart to get the job, even though the competition was much, she still has hope as she has always dreamt of a better life in the city.
Just then, the CEO's convoy drove in, his presence was announced as the ladies kept adjusting themselves and waving at him. Emily wasn't moved at all, as he walked past her, he noticed her reluctance and non admiration attitude. He's a man that most women are dying to be with, for he is very rich, handsome and charming. The only grandson of the Rossi family. And the heir to all the Rossi family's Empires and corporations, he was worth trillions of dollars.
As he walked in he enquires from his assistance who the lady who didn't move or tremble at the sight of him was, he was told her name is Emily and she came to apply for the position of a janitor. The name Emily rang a bell as he remembered the girl who rescued him ten years ago, called herself Emily as she spoke to herself. This kindled his interest to know more about her , if she was the girl who rescues him. Even though he was rude, he still has the thought of paying for the favour.
Emily on the other hand, didn't recognize him as the crowd roaring was too mich. The interview started with the HR calling the names of those applying as janitors first, but Emily's name wasn't mentioned. Until the position of a secretary, but the HR quickly reminded the CEO that there's one last person as her file was taken to the side by the CEO earlier. He requested for her to be called. This time the malicious woman has started looking down on Emily and calling her names as they waited.
The malicious woman, thinking she was next to be called without waiting for the HR to call her name quickly stood up, but was stopped half way as Emily's name was mentioned. She stopped feeling the HR made a mistake and tried correcting him as she is the next that was supposed to be called but her words fell into deaf ears, she quietly and quickly went back to her sit as Emily steps forward. Thinking within herself, if this is how city ladies behaves.
As Emily steps into the office, her eyes quickly went round, looking at everyone present, she felt some sense of familiarity with the CEO but pushed the feeling away because this is her first time of coming to the hotel. Just as the interview began, the CEO asked her to introduce herself, just then she remembered the voice, and where they had both met, as she answered, the CEO also recognized her voice.
Without excitation, he asked her why she left that way without accepting his offer ten years ago, everyone was astonished as to how and where they knew each other. Emily asked if that was part of the interview question, everyone was shocked by her question. The CEO getting pissed off, demanded an answer as he introduced himself as Roberto Harrington, the CEO of the Harrington group of companies, including this hotel.
Emily feeling scared with his tone, stood unwavering in her decision to overcome obstacles and get a job in the city, asked him, "is this how authoritative you're? How can you be so rude? You may be the CEO but am just an applicant, if it pleases you sirr, allow me take this interview in peace, for i'm not in the mood to let down my life for some ungrateful fellow".
Robert Harrington, shocked, became curious about who she is, and what gave her that guts still, to speak to him that way. He laughed wickedly, but had the intention not to let her out of his sight again told her that she is done with the interview, because he has gotten what he wanted. Emily feeling unhappy felt he's wicked, and doesn't want her to work in his firm. She angrily stood up, looked into his eyes, filled with rage, left without altering a word.
Unbeknownst to her, the CEO loves her boldness, a resilience nature, not moved by his looks but focused on what she came for, above all willing to work, and not to jump at the sight of any offer of money. Will Emily be offered the job? Or will Emilly fight back
Emily got home early, angry and furious, she blamed herself, and the economic situation, if not, " why will i be treated like a nobody? Am i a nobody? Was I not born by a mother the way everyone in that hotel was born? She screamed and jumped on the bed. Just then, Jane walked into the room, through the door and called on Emily but there was no response. She became worried and walked into the room seeing Emily lying on the bed, she sighed a sigh of relieve.
"Emily, what's wrong?" She asked. "Welcome, i"m just tired" Emily replied. "So tell me, how did it go?" She asked. "What?" Emily asked. "The interview of course" Jane asked. Emily sighed, "i didn't get interviewed, and not looking forward to be called either". "Why?, What happened?".
"I met a rude man, remember the man i told you some years ago, i rescued from some thugs?" Emily said, Jane quickly nodded her head in affirmation, " he happens to be the owner of the hotel, and trust me, i didn't take that nonsense from him". Emily said, " how would he treat me with much hatred after all i did for him? Why does he think every girl will be bought with money after tasting unnecessary abuses from him? Why is he so arrogant? She asked, looking directly into Jane's eyes as though expecting answers.
Jane trying to gasp through all Emily is saying, asked, " just a minute please, she paused for some seconds and continued, did he offer you money? as in money? And you refused again? Why would you? The guy is stinkingly rich, as you just said he is the CEO, so why worry yourself". "Do you know what that money will do for us?" Or aren't you tired of applying as a janitor yearly?" She screamed at the top of her voice.
Emily gave a wide gaze at Jane. " I can't sell my dignity, and always remember that there's dignity in labour, if he doesn't want me to work there, let him keep his job, i will go in search for other jobs, where i will not be insulted for
trying to give my best to their organisational growth". Thanks for your understanding and don't mention it". She said, "you are supposed to be consoling and encouraging me, not screaming at me like you are my mother". She further said.
Jane staring at her, held her hands, and said "you know i'm your only friend, and will always tell you the truth", sorry for the disappointment, i know you had high hopes and their pay would have been great". " Tell me is he handsome?", Jane asked, "you know i have eyes for good things, rich and handsome", she said as she laughed.
Emily also bust into laughter as she pulled off her hands from Jane's grip. "You aren't serious, i'm talking about my job, you are talking about man". "Which is your job? The one you never had?"She said as she mimicked Emily's voice. They both laugh loudly.
Just then, they heard a knock at the doir, they both looked at each other in surprise. "Are you expecting anyone?" Emily asked Jane. "Noo, i'm not", she said as she walked towards the door. A tall looking man, wearing a black suit, and a black sunglasses was standing at the door.
"Are you Emily Dowandas?" He asked Jane. Jane, looking curious, answered "No, and who are you?". "I'm sent by my boss, Roberto Harrington, to give this to Emily", he handed over a sealed envelope to Jane. Just then, Emily approached them, asking, "who is it Jane"?. Jane, still filled with awe, passed the envelope to Emily, and kept wondering what it could contain, as the seal looks expensive.
The man after handing Jane the envelope, turned and left. With both ladies in surprise, Emily opened the seal, and found a letter inside. Filled with curiosity, Jane dragged the letter from Emily and read it aloud. "Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God! The letterhead is owned by Harringston corp. Girl you have just hit it big, how did you do it? You have just gotten yourself a job in their 5 star hotel, not as a janitor but as a secretary. How did you do it, girlfriend?" Jane screams with excitement.
Emily still feeling confused, looked at Jane and asked if the delivery man did not mistake their address for someone else's own. "Looking out how things went today, there is no way that that rude man would offer me a job, not after i spoke back at his ordersity, not to think of giving me a position I didn't apply for", Emily said with a scornful face. Or let me even call the man back, he has mistaken my address for someone else's own, she said.
As Emily tried rushing out, she was dragged back by Jane, who dragged her to sit on a chair. "What is wrong with you my friend, when will you realise that God has actually blessed you? The man isn't mistaken, because the address written in this letter is ours, and the recipient name and contact number is yours, Emily, what is wrong with you"? Jane asked again. "Don't you like good things"?, Jane added.
Emily feeling a bit unease, stayed calm for some time as though to think, she remained quiet for sometime, and then drew Jane closer as though for anyone not to hear, she asked Jane " why would someone so rude, someone that didn't see the need to be grateful for what i did for him give me this offer, what is he up to? Are you thinking what i'm thinking?" Emily asked further.
Jane sighing a sigh of relieve, held Emily's hand, and said, "Emily, you are overthinking everything, stop overthinking, the guy might just be a nice guy, and this is his own wqy to appreciating your help, for if truly he disn't appreciate it, he wouldn't have sent for this letter to be brought down to your small house, immagine the CEO of Harrington corp stooping so low" she said. " He might just be the type that is soft inside, but hard outside, you never can tell" she added.
Emily, feeling reluctant to believe all that Jane has said, declined the offer. She feels the CEO is up to something, and wants to punish her for speaking back at him, she doesn't want to get any job coming through the back door, as she contemplates what other workers will say about her this time. She also mentioned to Jane about how she was treated at the interview by other applicants.
Jane, feeling empathy for her, told her not to listen to what others will say about her, but to be focus and dutifully perform her task, even though she said it won't be easy as the hotel is a big one, but she will eventually learn with time. She also told her to quit the wrong thought about the CEO, but to see him as a gentleman.
"He may be acting the way he does because of how he was brought up, you never can tell, he can be a good guy, " she said, but even if he isn't, your business there is to perform your job and get paid. Think of all the benefits, and allowances, remember where you are coming from, would your mom had allowed you to let go of this opportunity if she were her? Think about it too," she pleaded with Emily.
Emily, upon hearing Jane mention her mom, she felt emotional. "Why can't things go the way I just planned it to go? Why will I have to be at the mercy of someone?" Emily murmured within herself. " I heard that", Jane said. "I will think about it", Emily said. Jane jumped with excitement and said, " Don't think about it for too long before the offer slips away from your hands", Emily nodded and went back into the room.
Roberto, on the other hand, asked the bodyguard about her response immediately he entered the house. The guard told him he dis as instructed by the HR assistance (who happens to be the newly recruited scheming woman on the day of interview), to hand her over the letter and return back. The CEO kept fewling anxious as to if she will accept the offer, and if yes, when will she resume.
Roberto kept visiting his hotel daily to get first hand information about her resumption, qnd to get to talk to her, because he was awe at her boldness .The scheming woman noticed that the CEO maybe wanting to favour the country girl, she wasn't happy, even though she tried not to give out the acceptance letter to the guard, but the command was too strong to be overlooked as it came from the CEO himself.
Those present at the interview noticed what happened between their boss and Emily, the news spread like wide fire over all departments, some mind their businesses, while the others kept gossiping about the event. It made them wonder where their boss could have met such a low class girl. His concern for Emily grew even if she hasn't resumed work in the hotel.
Jane kept disturbing Emily to take the offer, but Emily remained adamant as she didn't get to be interviewed properly, and she disn't apply for the said job. She wants to get a job through honesty and transparency, she doesn't want to seen by other colleagues as been biased.
After much persuasion and advise from Jane, she ddecided to give it a try, she also added that if she senses anything phishing she would gladly resign, according to Emily she said she was taught by her late mom that 'one who tell lie to get a gift, will surely keep telling lies to keep the gift', and she doesn't want such life.
Jane further explained to Emily that she did nothing wrong, she didn't lie or steal to gwt the offer, it came to her out of the CEO's generosity, and also its her reward for helping him years ago.
Three days later, Emily got dressed to resume work at Harrington's Corp. Jane was very happy to see Emily change her mind, and she sang all morning while Emily prepared to go to work.
Emily got to the hotel fifteen minutes earlier, as she signed in for the day at the reception, all eyes were on her. As she walkes down the hall, a group of colleague eyed her with disdain.
Emily was shown the way to Roberto's office by his PA Daniel who has always been punctual ro resume work, he was excited ro meet Emily as he was in leave when the interview took place, and wasn't with Roberto when he was attacked 10 years ago.
Roberto was standing, facing the glass window on his office, gazing at the views outside when Daniel knocked at the door and came in with Emily.
'So we meet again', Roberto said looking towards Emily, as Emily stood still holding her bag in her hands. 'You must be surprised why i gave you such offer after you yield at me'. Roberto said further.
This time Emily was about speaking when Roberto cut her short, 'no need to say a word, its good you resume early, i love punctual and dedicated staffs. 'I look forward to working with you', he laughed loudly. 'Over there is your office, the next room by your right'. He said, as he excused Emily to leave, while he remained in the office with Daniel.
Emily walked out of his office feeling speechless as she asked questions within herself. 'Why is he acting weird? Can he be sane? He didn't even allow me to properly greet him for ones', she said as she continued walking.
While going through the hall way, she noticed some group of ladies who where chatting, one whispered loud enough for her to hear, "must be wise accepting a job without an application just for saving the boss's life". Emily's stomach twisted. The other mentioned that she got the job, because of a strange debt. What debt? Is this how its going to be here?
Emily had just resumed working as the CEO's secretary for just a few weeks when she received an email marked "URGENT" from the CEO's office. She nervously opened it, expecting a new task feom Roberto. Instead it was an invitation to the Harrington Foundation Charity Gala, that evening, hostwd by none other than the Harrington family themselves.
Though attending was optional, she knew how much these events mattered to Roberto's image and reputation, perhaps showing up would be a way to prove her dedication, to show that she could keep up with the demand of this new world she finds herself in. And, she thought, maybe she'd find a way to feel less like an outsider in the company. All staffs of the company also got the invitation to attend the Harrington Foundation Charity Gala.
That's how she found herself standing in a grand ballroom feeling a bit out of place, and nervously catching a glass of water as she observed the crowd. She moved towards the quieter area where volunteers gathered, and soon found herself surrounded by the children from the foundation helping them with donated toys and chatting with their kids.
Just then Margaret Harrington moved through the well dressed crowd at her foundation charity gala, her heart far from the glamour surrounding her. The event filled with laughter, music, and polished smiles, but Margaret was searching for something more- a moment of genuine connection, a reminder of the world outside the glitz. Even in her eighties, she had a sharp sense of intuition, especially about people.
Tonight, however, her heart drifted to her grandson, Roberto, who seems to be loosing himself to the power-driven circles he has entrenched in. She longed for him to meet a classy lady but from a wealthy background, someone who could remind him of the simple, grounding values he had grown up with. Someone who could reach out to him in a way no one else had.
As Emily laughed with a group of children, Margaret noticed her at the far side of the room, standing beside a group of children and volunteers from the foundation. Unlike many of the attendees, this girl seems more focused on the children's stories than the socialising.
She wondered whose daughter she could be that is so different from the other guests, and also seem different from the girls she had arranged on several blind dates with her grandson Roberto.
Margaret finds herself captivated by the young woman's sincerity, her animates life, and the genuine warmth that shone from her. Margaret edged closer to listen, curiosity growing with each step. The young woman who introduced herself as Emily, and was kneeling on the floor, engrossed in a story a little boy was telling.
She held out a brightly coloured book, showing pictures to the children, her face lighting up with each turn of the book. Margaret couldn't resist striking up a conversation. She approached Emily and extended a hand with a warm smile. "Mind if i join?", she asked, she voice gently, yet inquisitive.
Emily looked up, a bit startled, but quickly smiled in return, her eyes kind and welcoming. "Of course not!, the kids are great company". She replied. "I'm Emily by the way". Emily introduced herself. "I'm Margaret", she responded, leaving out her last name. She did so because she wanted Emily's openness to continue naturally, without her pretending if she had knew her identity.
"So, Emily, do you volunteer with us often?", Margaret asked. "Oh, i wish i couls say yes", Emily laughed as she replied, her eyes flickering downward as if a little embarrassed. "I only just moved here, i'm still finding my way around trying to balance work and- well everything else". She said. Margaret nodded, encouraged by her honesty and still wondered which of the families she knew just relocated back to town.
"It takes a lot of courage to start over in a new place". Margaret said. "Where do you work? If you don't mind me asking". Emily hesitated, looking away before she answered. "Actually, i just got hired at Harrington Corp, its been... challenging, to say the least.
Margaret smiled inwardly, so fate had brought them together. "Its a big company", she said, hee voice light. "Must be overwhelming at times". Margaret added. " " You could say that," Emily replied with a small laugh. "But i'm grateful for the opportunity, i just try to keep my head down and do the best i can, even if not eveeyone there is .... Welcoming. Emily added.
The honesty in Emily's voice tugged at Margaret's heart. Here is a young woman with dreams, humility, and resilience, striving to make her way in a world that didn't make room for sincerity, also striving independently without her family's support. How many children of the reach can be this special. Margaret thought within herself.
Margaret also couldn't ignore the growing feeling that Emily was exactly what her grandson needed. She felt her mind racing with possibilities. "Emily, do you mind if i ask you something"? Margaret beganher tone thoughtfully. "Of course", Emily replied, looking at her with genuine curiosity.
"Would you consider meeting someone i know?He's- special, but i think he's lost sight of what truly matters in life". Margaret's voice softened as she spoke. "He could use someone like you to help him remember". She added.
Emily blinked, taken aback by the unexpected question. She laughed quietly. "I-i'm not sure what you mean", she replied, a little confused but flattered. "I'm not sure i'd make much of an impact on anyone". Margaret looked at her warmly, a glint of hope sparking in her eyes.
"Trust me, my dear, I believe you will. He's a good man at heart, but sometimes the world can cloud the best part of us". She said, as she took Emily's hand gently. "Would you think about it?". Emily hesitated, a blend of curiosity and uncertainty crossing her face. Her mind raced with questions.
"Who is this woman?, really?, and why did she seem so certain?, i'm just seeing her for the first time, is this how they behave in the city?, who is this someone? What if he doesn't like me? Or we end up embarrassing each other?. Emily kept thinking to herself.
But the sincerity in Margaret's eyes made Emily want to trust her. After a long moment of silence, Emily nodded, "alright- i'll consider it". Margaret's face lit up with a warm, almost relieved smile. "Thank you, Emily. Your response means more to me than you know". She said joyfully.
As they finished talking, Margaret gave Emily a card, and a warm hug, as they bid each other goodbye. Margaret was very happy because she knows, she'd set something in motion that could change her grandson's life for the better. She had already decided that she'd set up a meeting, casually convincing Roberto that he needed a break from his always busy schedule, just long enough to meet a remarkable young woman she believed he would find refreshing.
That evening as Margaret got home, she couldn't shake off her feeling of hope. She also knew her grandson wouldn't be thrilled by yet another of her match making attempts , but this time she felt something very different from her previous attempt, something in her kept telling her, he would love her when he sees her.
"Emily could be one of the daughters of a socialite in the society, but very different from daughters from rich families she has tried to arrange for her son. As she comes from a wealthy background, she is definitely not one of those low status gold diggers who just wants to eat her grandson's money and run away as Roberto's mother did to her grandson's father Gabriel, that led to his early demise". She said within herself.
"Yes, Emily is different, i mean very different, with my knowledge and years on earth i can tell that Emily is someone with depth and sincerity, someone Roberto cannot ignore even if he wants to.
---
The following morning, Margaret got up early and went downstairs to sit and wait for Roberto to get ready for work, so she can talk to him before he left the house. "Good morning grandma", Roberto said , as he climbed down the stairs. "I know you don't come down stairs this early except you want to ask me for a favour, grandma what is it?", hope you're not stressing yourself out? Tell me what's the matter?Roberto inquired further.
"I met someone you would love at the gala night", Margaret said in a low tone. Having knowledge of how her grandson would react, she went closer to him. "Roberto, you know am growing older by the day, if you don't get to meet her now, when will i carry my grandchildren?, do you want me to die like this?", Margaret added with a persuasive tone.
Roberto gave out a resigned sigh, familiar with her persistence on such matters. "Please Roberto, just one more", she pleaded with a soft smile in her voice. "She's very different, you will love her when you see her, it's just one evening son, you know you are all i've got, i need the best for you".
Roberto, finally relented, agreeing to meet his grandmother's choice of a girl just to make his grandmother happy. "Thank you son, you know I love you right?". "I know grandma, bye". Roberto replied as he walks out of the sitting room and went to work.
How will the blind date go? What will be Emily and Roberto's reaction when they see each other? Will there be fury or love?
