PROLOGUE
The sting from the alcohol in my cup hit the back of my throat causing it to burn. "Urgh!!.." I grunted as I swallowed another shot.
My body found itself moving to the beat of the music being played in the background of the room.
I was happy. Of course I should be, I was at the after party for my high school graduation. Everyone was excited that I was number one so they didn't hesitate to come out just for that reason.
My father didn't like the idea of the party but then who cared, I was a teenager, you don't expect me to sit down at home like some kind of old widow while my friends enjoyed their youths. Never, I had to be part of the fun.
I screamed as the music hits hard. I could feel the pair of eyes watching me in reminder that I was supposed to behave.
"Argh! Philip" I moaned mentally as I remembered I got to be here in the first place.
Because I was able to convince dad I would be reasonable? Well no, the truth was Philip. He was the only reason I was here.
The only reason father let me out of the house was because Philip was going to be here.
Philip Conner. Just saying his name makes my skin crawl and unluckily enough for me I had to get married to that man when I turn 19, which I did a few days ago.
Father has been talking about this marriage thing nonstop, why? I don't even like the man. He was handsome, Yes. A lot of my classmates wanted him, forget classmates. Some teachers but I don't just get it at all. Every time I look at his face I felt like stabbing him across the face.
But he had an added advantage, I mean, I was here in the party regardless of whether my dad liked it or not. I could feel his eyes watching me like a hawk.
I wasn't allowed to drink as much as I wanted just because I was under his supervision.
Instantly, I made a plan with my friends Ryan and Karan to lose him and we did. In a matter of minutes, I started stuffing my face with alcohol and ignoring the burn that came along with it.
After stuffing my face with alcohol, I hit the dance floor but then I could no longer see any one clearly, It felt as if the ground started moving or was it spinning?
In my own opinion I think I was drunk or maybe I was just about to feel sick because of the too many glasses I had.
I walked along the corridor when I managed to get out of the room, trying to find a bathroom.
Trust me, my mouth could no longer hold in whatever was about to come out from it.
I could still hear the music from the party but it became faded telling me I was going far away from it.
I began to wonder why? Why I couldn't find the bathroom in this large club which was in a big hotel.
"Here you are!" a deep voice spoke from behind as the man grabbed me by my waist and before my mind could process it, my feet were off the floor, I was lifted onto his shoulders.
I didn't even have the strength to fight because my tummy was so upset to the point and that it felt like my intestines were about to come out.
I was being carried, Yes! I was.
My mind told me everything that was going on, as though I couldn't see. I was placed on a soft shoulders, I smiled without knowing the reason, once again I blame the alcohol.
I could hear the opening of a door and I was carried into a room.
"The bathroom" I muttered and I think the Angel heard me. He was dressed in a white suit and he actually carried me into the bathroom.
I let myself go, it felt as though my brain was about to come out of my mouth, he patted me gently on the back.
"Are you good?" I could hear his voice in my ears.
I rested my head on the toilet sit and I couldn't quite figure out what or who this angel was, as everything was still spinning.
He placed his hands on my face, they were cold. For some weird reason his eyes were the only thing I seem to see clearly, they were blue. As blue as the sea and it felt like the more I looked into them the more I got lost.
There was something about him I just couldn't put my finger on, he was drunk as well, I could tell. He also battled his way to stand up straight which made me wonder how he could carry me from the corridor into this room without us falling to the ground, he placed his hand on the wall to support himself up.
"You are also drunk?" I voiced with a chuckle.
"I agree but not as you, at least I could walk on my own two feet" he replied pulling me from the bathroom ground.
I didn't want to leave, Philip never made me feel this way or was it the alcohol that was talking?.
I could feel myself landing on something soft and him on top of me, he had dimples and I could see them clearly, his strong scent. It was divine, I wanted to drown in it.
Our eyes came in contact again, before my mind and body could process what was happening I felt his soft lips on mine and that was the last thing I could remember.
The next morning, I woke up with my phone ringing and a terrible headache that struck me in the head, reminding me of the amount of alcohol I had drank at the previous day.
I didn't even want to be up but the strong arms around my waist caused me to be alert.
My eyes were fully open that I turned to the stranger who I had shared the bed with last night and the rush of regret slapped me, hard. Harder than the hangover I was having.
I could see myself lying naked in bed with no other than Lycan Flynn of the Blood Moon pack.
I was dead meat!.
"Emily Stones" the doctor called out as he stood in front of her.
"Your results are ready" he spoke out before turning and going back into his office.
Emily turned to her side where her father was sitting and the look on his face was one that she had never seen before which made her more anxious by the minute.
They both stood from where they sat in the waiting room and walked into the doctor's office.
Emily wished her mum came along with her and not her father, the man made her scared with how quiet he had been since they arrived. Although she was his favorite, knowing what she had on that night made her suspect what was wrong and she didn't want him to behead her if it was confirmed to be true.
Emily's father, Alpha Liam George, was the leader of the Blue Hive Pack. Emily was his first and only daughter which made him treasure her dearly and finding out that she had been ill for a few days gave him much worry. He had dragged her along with him to the hospital before she knew it because He didn't want to play with her health.
They both entered the doctor's office and took a seat in front of the table, waiting for him to go on with the announcement of the results that were in his hands.
"Everything is fine Alpha George" he announced
"Everything is fine?" he asked wanting to know the reason why the doctor was hesitating to say the remaining words.
"Ahem" the doctor cleared his throat as his eyes moved from Alpha Roberts to Emily's direction.
"Alpha there is absolutely nothing wrong with your daughter" he proceeded.
Emily could feel her heart settled on hearing his statement, she was relieved that nothing was wrong, it was definitely not what she was thinking.
"Are you sure about that" her father inquired "But she hasn't been feeling well these past few days and I was worried she might have come down with some flu"
"Well sir, there is nothing wrong with your daughter, she's perfectly fine but I would like to congratulate you" he voiced as the words rolled out of his mouth.
Emily couldn't help but feel the arteries holding her heart snap as it sunk into her stomach. "damn it" she whispered underneath her breath.
"Congratulations,? On what doctor?" George asked as he stared at the doctor before giving a quick glance to his daughter who was sitting beside him awfully quiet as well.
She wasn't not even confused about the congratulation the doctor had given
"What I mean to say is you're going to become a grandfather, congratulations" he voiced.
There and then Emily knew she was in trouble, not just any form of trouble but she was standing on the brick between life and death.
"What nonsense are you saying? My Emily cannot be pregnant" he said as he turned towards his daughter's angle
"Sir please listen, I know what I'm saying, I was shocked at first too but then I asked the laboratory to redo the test three more times and they all came out with the same results, positive which means she's pregnant" he continued.
Emily wished she could just shut the doctor's mouth up as he continued to speak and explain more.
"Emily?" her father called out in anger and mixed with a little bit of confusion. "What's going on? Are you seeing someone behind my back? Who is the father of your child?" he asked, he had too many questions to throw at his daughter's face however, Emily could not help but let tears stream down her face as she knew she had disappointed her father, the man that gave her nothing but love.
"ANSWER ME!" he yelled as he banged his hand on the table, his daughter was his pride and he had always anticipated her wedding day, which was just a few weeks away.
He knew that day would be the happiest day of his life, he was working towards it and trying to make sure she had the best but here he was not even sure what was going on
Emily's tears rolled down her cheek as shivers passed through her spine. Her dad's anger was well justified but this was the first time he had ever yelled at her in such a manner.
"I'm not going to repeat myself 'EMILY STONES' tell me the truth" he requested trying to control his anger as he was talking to his Golden child, he didn't want to hurt her despite how angry he was
Emily knew very well her father's anger was definitely going to multiply if she dared to mention the name of the man whose child she was carrying.
"Dad.... I don't know?" she cried
"What? What do you mean you don't know?" he asked with his voice increasing with every word.
"Ehn sir... I think you" the doctor tried to speak but was cut off immediately.
"Stay out of this, I'm talking to my daughter and as for you Emily, you don't know who the father of your child is? You don't know whose child you're carrying? How is that even possible? You've been sleeping around like a whore all this time? Or are you trying to protect Philip?"
"Dad!" Emily eyes widened at the foul words escaping her dad's mouth
"Shut up when I'm talking. What would people say about this. The Alpha's only daughter is immoral, is that what you want them to say?" he shouted as he stared at her.
"Dad it's nothing like that" Emily gasped out. She was embarrassed and tried not to glance at the doctor that was still in the room
"Then what is it like, tell me. I've always frowned at pre-mated sex and I never knew that my own daughter, my own princess under my roof would do something like this"
" Dad" Emily tried to touch him, she wanted to remind him that she was his baby girl.
"Do not touch me" he said shifting his arm from her and standing on his feet and the action broke Emily
Hearing this made Emily really sad and scared, she felt as though her world was crumbling down before her feet.
Everything was collapsing so fast and she couldn't stop it.
Alpha George immediately call Philip asking him to come to the hospital, in a few minutes he arrived and alpha George greeted him with a slapped across the face.
"Dad!" Emily screamed.
"You shut it and you" he said pointing towards the young man in shock.
"I trusted you and you go around sleeping with my princess" he voiced.
"What are you talking about? I have never touched Emily" he voiced
"What do you mean? Are you trying to deny this?"
"Of course not but Emily and I had even kissed, how could we then spend the night together." He explained.
Alpha George turned to Emily, she could see him furious.
"Who is the father!!?" he thundered
"I'm sorry" she cried.
"You really have no idea?"
Emily was quite, how could she tell him that Flynn was the child's father.
"We can still remedy this situation, right doctor?" he said, finally turning towards the doctor, taking a few steps back to the table.
"How far is she?" He asked without giving the doctor a chance to answer his previous question
"She's just a month and a few weeks in." the doctor explained.
"Good, Good, we are going to get rid of it and no one would know or hear a word about this, you would go back home and live your life as it was before. You will get a mate and get married" he said as he tapped his hands on the table.
"Dad! what are you saying?" Emily gasped in shock
"I'm saying since you have no idea who the father of that thing growing in you is, we are going to remove it. You're going to have an abortion" There was finality in his voice which made Emily knew it was over for her.
"Alpha let rethink this" Philip voiced
"No, I want it out"
"What? No!" Emily stumbled away from her chair, to get away from the man who she thought was her father
"Shut up! I don't want to hear any objections from you in it and that's final" he said before turning towards the doctor
"I need you to get everything ready as quickly as possible, she's not keeping a bastard in my house" he added
"But dad, I don't want an abortion. I want to keep this child" she spoke. Yes she made a mistake but her child shouldn't have to suffer for it.
"You have to be joking Emily, you want to keep a child whose father you have no idea about"
"Dad, I don't feel right killing it" She started to cry
"Well then you would have thought about morals the day you spread your legs open for the man that got you pregnant, I don't want to hear anything more about this or else the consequences will be irreversible" he said as he walked out of the room leaving Emily all alone with her thought and tears.
5 years later
Emily felt a gentle nudge and opened her eyes to see two pairs of identical curious blue eyes staring down at her. She chuckled when she noticed the excited smile of the twins face when they saw she was finally awake.
"Good morning, Mommy!" They chorused loudly and Emily winced at how loud they were.
"Good morning, my loves but please don't be so loud so early in the morning. What time is it?" She asked, stretching her hands over head.
"It's seven o'clock. It's time to get ready for school!" Quinn said bouncing on the bed, her blonde curls bouncing with her.
"Okay, okay. Let me get up" Emily said, getting out of the bed. "Have you brushed your teeth?" She asked them before kissing them on the foreheads and heading to the bathroom.
"Yes" Finn replied, bouncing after her to the bathroom. He was usually quieter than his sister. "Uncle Ryan helped us brush our teeth and take our baths"
"That's good. When I finish brushing my teeth, we'll have breakfast, okay love?"
"Yes, Mommy"
She quickly brushed her teeth and took a quick shower before putting on a simple dress and a cotton cardigan over it. She tied her long blonde hair into a ponytail and applied lip gloss to her chapped lips.
When she got out of the bathroom, the twins were no longer in her room so she walked out to the bathroom to the kitchen where they were seated on their seats, having breakfast.
Ryan walked around the counter to hand her a cup of coffee and gave her a knowing smile "Hey, you. Ready to face the day?"
"You are the best" She said taking a seat and digging into the plate of breakfast he pushed towards her
"And no, I'm not ready for another hectic day both at the office and handling those two. Thank goodness for the school"
"Don't let them hear you can't wait to get rid of them" He said with a chuckle before sitting down and eating his breakfast.
Emily and Ryan were childhood friends from her previous pack and he had been there for her through the worst times of her life, even abandoning his old life to start all over with her again here in Manchester.
A lot of people often thought Ryan was the father of her twins because of how fiercely protective he was of the twins but they were never anything romantic and never thought of it. He hadn't found his mate yet and she hoped he did soon so he would also have someone to take care of him and love him as well.
They finished their breakfast to see the twins playing over their food.
"Munchkins, are you done with your food?" Ryan asked, leaning over to ruffle Finn's hair and he was not happy about it.
"Uncle Ryan!" He whined with a pout "You are going to mess up my hair for the first day of school"
"Sorry, my prince" Ryan apologized with a mock bow.
"How about me? I'm a princess too" Quinn complained and Emily picked her up and twirled her around the room and she giggled and shrieked excitedly.
"Okay, we have to leave now so we arrive on time. Grab your backpacks and jackets munchkins" Ryan announced and Emily dropped Quinn and the twins ran to their room to get their jackets while she grabbed the keys.
They arrived at school on time and Emily packed at the entrance and opened the door for the twins. She hugged and kissed the both of them before ushering them towards their teacher who was waiting a few feet from them.
"Bye, Mommy. Bye, Uncle Ryan. We love you" They said with a wave which Ryan and Emily returned.
"Bye babies. We love you too" Emily said and watched them walk into the school with their teacher before getting back into the car.
"They are growing up so fast" Ryan said with a smile. He was still looking at the gate which the twins disappeared into.
"Way too fast. I want them to remain my little buttons for ever" Emily said with a little pout.
They drove to their workplace, a small advertising firm where Emily worked as a graphics designer and Ryan worked as an accountant. They bid each other good bye and headed to their separate department.
Emily entered her cubicle and turned on her computer so she could check her emails. She answered the important ones from her superiors first. When she was done she decided to call her father.
She knew he would probably not pick like he has been doing for the past year but she wanted to try. Maybe today would be different, she told herself before picking up the phone and dialing his number.
Her heart dropped to the pit of her stomach when the call went straight to voicemail. She shouldn't be surprised since this was the new norm but she couldn't stop the hurt that curled around her like a second skin.
Emily decide to shake off her sad thoughts and dialed her brother, Liam instead. He was the only one who still kept in touch with her even though their father had forbidden everyone from keeping in contact with her.
Liam picked up on the first ring and it brought a smile to her face. "Hey, sis! How are you and the twins?" He was always so warm towards her and his voice always made her miss home.
"I'm great lee" Emily said with a smile, traces of her sadness, gone "How are you? How is the pack and everyone at home?"
"We're doing fine. Nothing major to report." He paused and added softly "Have you called dad lately?"
"I did and it's still the same. He won't pick my calls at all. Does he say anything about me at home?"
"No, but he has been grumpy today and he is usually like that when he sees your calls"
"I call him every two days so maybe it's starting to piss him off"
"I'm sorry about dad. He's still stubborn as ever." She sighed again.
"It's okay, lee. I'm used to it by now."
"How is mom? Is she doing okay?" Emily asked changing the topic as she no longer wanted to talk about how her father's actions still hurt her.
"She's here. Would you like to talk to her?" Liam asked and Emily nodded happily before remembering he couldn't see her.
"Yes, please" The phone rustled a little before he mom's voice floated through the speakers.
"Emily, I've missed you so much, my baby"
"Hey, mom" Emily said with a smile and tears welled up in her eyes. It's been so long she talked to her mom and she missed her a lot. "I've missed you too. Are you okay? Are you eating well?"
"I'm fine baby. I should be asking about you and the twins. I hope you are leaving well. If you need any help, don't hesitate to let your brother know"
"We are managing just fine. I can't even dare to ask for help from the pack, dad would be furious if he found out that you still kept in contact with me" Her mother sighed
"I know your father is being so difficult but please be patient with him. I'm sure he would come around soon"
"Mom, it's been five years, he would have forgiven me since if he wanted to" Emily choked out as she realized that it was the truth, her father had no plan to forgive her.
"He will. Just be patient. Everything will be fine soon"
Emily wanted to argue and tell her she was past her patient level and that she didn't believe that everything will be fine soon but she kept quiet and listened to her mom.
She ended the call with a promise to get in touch with them soon. Emily turned to focus on her work for the day, hoping that someday, she would be able to reunite with her family again and get her dad's forgiveness.
