Millie's POV.
I was twelve years old when I first saw him. He was fifteen. I want to say it was love at first sight. He was the cutest guy I've ever seen. His golden blonde hair was like a ray of sunshine. His eyes were the color of the ocean. When he smiled, I felt an unusual pressure in my chest as I dreamed of kissing his soft-looking lips. To me, he was perfect, still is. Too bad he never notices me.
Even now, as we grew older he only sees me as his sister's friend, nothing more. But I haven't given up hope yet. I will show you I am a grown woman now and I am the one you want to be with!
Okay, I am still seventeen, but at least I am not a kid! Guys in my high school say I am pretty and they ask me to go on dates but I only have one person in my heart. Zack Myers.
"Millie! There you are," my best friend Alison shouted from across the hall. She was Zack's sister and my best friend since middle school. She was the reason I got to meet the love of my life.
It was the beginning of our senior year so I was organizing my locker.
"Hey Ali," I said.
"Are you coming over after school," she asked.
"Of course I am!" I said. I wouldn't miss a chance to see Zack, I thought to myself.
"Good, because 'you know who' will be there," she said and winked. As my best friend, she knew exactly how I felt about her brother and she fully supported me. Which is why I think she is the coolest girl in the entire school.
After school, I told my mom to drop me off at Allison's house. I checked the mirror beforehand to make sure I looked good. not that it mattered. Zack never cared about how I looked anyway.
My heart thumped against my chest as I saw him sitting in the living room.
"Hey Zack," I said shyly.
Zack gave me a bright smile. The same one that made me fall for him, hard. "How are you doing kiddo?"
I wished he wouldn't use that nickname on me. It made me feel so...young. "I am okay, are you doing anything special today?" I asked.
"Melanie is coming over so I might hang out with her," he shrugged.
Right...forgot about Melanie. Zack and Melanie were in an on and off relationship. She was the thorn in my eyes, the bane of my existence, and the biggest cock-block between me and Zack.
"Oh okay then, I'll see you later," I said and left in a hurry. I've known him for 6 years but he still made me nervous.
I moved away from his sight but didn't leave the room entirely. I stood there and watched him longingly. Why couldn't I be a woman and confess my feelings already? Even if he rejects me it'll at least end this misery. But I was too afraid to get rejected, my teenage heart wouldn't be able to take it.
"If you are done ogling at my brother, I'd like you to move. You are blocking my way," a deep voice spoke in my ear, startling me to my core.
Freaking Hayden Myers...
Hayden was a year younger than Zack. They were the polar opposite. You know how I said Zack was handsome and had a great personality? Hayden was none of that. Okay, I lied. He also had the looks with his longish hair which he dyed black, pale blue eyes and an almost perfectly symmetrical face. Just like his brother. If only his personality was as good. Hayden Myers was an epitome of a douche bag. When I looked into Zack's eyes I felt warm and cozy inside but when I saw Hayden, I felt cold shivers.
Him teasing me endlessly since we were kids didn't help either. Every time I tried to get close to Zack, he would butt in and ruin everything.
One particular incident made me hate him for life. When I turned 14, I decided to bake a heart-shaped cookie and give it to Zack. But somehow Hayden got a hold of the box before Zack and ate the cookie and then replaced it with a dead rat. He even wrote a note that said, "To my Zack, I love you like a stray cat loves a rat!" Zack didn't talk to me for two days until Alison cleared up the misunderstanding. But I cried myself to sleep and vowed to hate Hayden forever.
"Sooooo, are you gonna move or what?" Hayden barked.
I made a sour face and moved away.
"I see you haven't given up on the golden boy yet. Face it Mildew, you are too ugly for his taste," he grinned.
Oh, and did I mention he calls me Mildew instead of Millie? As in the fungus?
"Buzz off Hayden, I don't have time to deal with your bullshit," I snapped.
"Ooooh sassy. You better watch your language, Missy, I am older than you remember? You better respect me." he said and feigned shock.
"Only by two years. Besides, jerks like you don't deserve respect," I glared at him.
"OUCH! How old are you now? Like 15?" he furrowed his eyebrows.
"Don't you understand Math? You are two years older so that means I am 17. I am turning 18 in a couple of months," I was starting to get impatient. Why was I wasting my time talking to this loser?
"Well, you look 12 to me. Anyway, I would love to continue this stimulating discussion, but I must run. I have a hot chick waiting for me to get her in bed," he said.
"Gross," I said and headed towards Alison's room. I never understood why girls like him so much. Besides his looks, he had nothing to offer. He didn't even bother to enroll in a college after he graduated. He had no future, unlike his brother. Zack was going to college and had an internship in an advertising agency.
"What took you so long? Where you finally having an amazing conversation with Zack?" Alison asked.
"I wish, he said Melanie was coming over," I said with a pained expression on my face.
"What, really? I thought they broke up," Alison.
"Who knows," I flopped on the bed and buried my face in a pillow. At this rate, I would never have a chance with Zack.
"Also, I got stuck talking to the undesirable one of your family," I groaned.
Alison laughed. She always found Hayden's treatments of me amusing. Some friend. "I think Hayden has a crush on you," she said.
"EWWW don't make me puke," I laughed and threw the pillow at her.
There was no way in hell that devil liked me. Liked to torture me? Definitely.
Hayden POV.
I saw Millie standing by the door and practically drooling over Zack. It made me chuckle every time I see that little twerp going gaga over him. She must not have anything better to do. What does she see in him anyway? He was just too much of a goodie two shoes. So annoying. Maybe it was his looks. But what about me? I looked like him too!
Funny thing is, big bro Zack is completely oblivious to her little crush but I noticed it years ago which is why it was so much fun to mess with her about it. Picking on her made my life less boring. Besides, she's fucking adorable. Especially when he is angry at me. Her big eyes and rosy cheeks makes me want to tease her.
I first met her when she was like what, twelve? Alison brought her home and I noticed her right away. My fourteen-year-old heart twitched when she walked into the room wearing a cute summer dress and those perfect little French braids. I could've been a regular teenager and just say hello, but, I was going through my mischievous phase and decided to try something different.
I yanked both of her French braids as hard as I could and made her cry. Okay, I'll admit, I was fourteen so I was way too old to be doing something Juvenile like that but I just couldn't resist. She was just too cute with her button nose, big blue eyes, and long brown hair. I wanted to grab her attention.
And that I did. She hated me ever since. Of course, big bro swooped in like a Prince Charming and comforted the damsel in distress. So here we are, he is the hero in her eyes forever and I'm the villain. I don't mind that at all, it was fun to tease her until she turned red. It's not like Zack could protect her at all times. Half the time he didn't even pay attention to her. It made me feel kind of bad for her at times.
I tried to mention her silly little crush to Zack a few times in the past but he blew me off. He said she was too young for him and it was just a phase. Maybe back then, but how can he not notice her now? His loss I guess.
I forced myself to stop thinking about her and went to see Tracy. I met Tracy through one of our mutual friends a year ago and we've been seeing each other since. Tracy was one of the hottest girls I knew. She was curvy and voluptuous with thick curly hair and full lips. I wasn't exactly going out with her as I didn't want anyone to tie me down but she insisted that we keep our physical relationship going. And I am not dumb enough to turn down a babe like that.
"Oh look who finally came to see me," Tracy remarked when she opened the door. She was wearing a tight black dress to show of her curves. And I did love girls with a beautiful body.
"I only came here to get some," I said casually.
"Wow, I've never felt so used," Tracy pouted like it was a surprise. It was never a secret to begin with. I love her as a friend and I told her that several times so there was no misunderstanding. And yet, she was drawn to me.
"If I remember correctly, I offered to end it a while ago if this scenario isn't working for you so you can go find yourself a nice, straight-laced, gentleman boyfriend then you two can live happily ever after," I smirked. "I promise you will have my full support. I will even be one of your bridesmaids! Not wearing a dress though," I added.
"Don't be such a smartass. What can I say, I am drawn to bad boys. Call me a dumb," Tracy laughed and pulled me inside the house.
I pressed my lips on hers and kissed her. I was already turned on since this morning so I couldn't wait. Besides, It wasn't that I had anything else going on.
Millie's POV.
I've decided that enough is enough. I needed to make a move on Zack. No more scaredy-cat Millie. Alison's birthday party was coming up this Saturday so I will see him and have the perfect opportunity to show him that I'm not a little girl anymore.
"I know! How about we go shopping and you buy a really sexy dress to wear at the party, I'll bet that will impress him," Alison said.
"I don't know...I don't think Zack's into stuff like that," I said.
"Oh please, he is a guy and you are beautiful," Alison said reassuringly.
"Then how come he treats me like a little sister?" I asked.
I already knew the answer. That's because he was too nice and felt protective of me. That's why I couldn't give up on him easily.
"Okay," I smiled. "Let's buy a sexy outfit. I needed to buy some new clothes anyway," I said.
"Yay, shopping!" Alison chirped.
"There's just one problem, I have no money." I frowned.
"Well convince your mom that you need back to school clothes or something," Alison suggested.
"Ali, the school's been out for two weeks already," I rolled my eyes.
"Well think of something, this is gonna be so much fun!" Alison said.
I smiled at her enthusiasm. I was pretty excited myself. After begging and pleading for two hours, my mom agreed to give me money to buy a new dress so the shopping was on!
The following day, Alison and I decided to go shopping at a boutique. She was going to pick her birthday dress and I was going to find something that will show off my curves in all the right places.
"Oh my god, try this on!" Alison said after we spent twenty minutes trying things on.
I looked at the dress she was holding. It was a red bodycon dress with lace sweetheart cutout at the front. Very sexy. I put it on and came out of the fitting room to show Alison.
"Whoa...that looks hot!" Alison squealed. "He wouldn't be able to take his eyes off of you," she said.
"Are you trying to impress him or do him?" Someone spoke all of a sudden and we both turned around.
Hayden was leaned against the door with a devilish smirk on his face. Great...he had to come and ruin my mood.
"Don't be a disgusting pig Hayden, she is not trying to sleep with him. Well not yet anyway," Alison said dismissively.
"Well, in that case, that dress is all wrong," he said and pointed at what I was wearing. "It is way too sexy," he added.
"I still don't see why its a bad thing and why are you here again?" Alison inquired.
"I happened to be at the motorcycle supplies store next door and saw this clown show when I was passing by," he smirked, that jerk. "Don't get me wrong, you look great Mildew, but that dress is all wrong for big bro," he said.
"And how would you know?" I spoke up finally.
"Because I've known him since birth and he is a total goody-two-shoes. You will need to wear a dress that's sexy yet gives out the certain 'good girl' vibe, you get what I am saying?" he asked.
"I hate to say this, but I'll have to agree with Hayden," Alison said thoughtfully. "Zack does like the sexy good girl type."
"Okay, I guess the search continues. By the way, why are you helping me?" I asked Hayden.
"Because I am tired of watching you drool over Mr. Perfect so I've decided to get you laid once and for all," Hayden said matter-of-factly.
I sighed. As much as I hate to admit, Hayden was right. I was tired of it too. And since he was a guy, it wouldn't hurt to get his opinions.
Hayden walked to the clothing rack and went through the clothes. He took a dress out and threw it at me.
"Here, try this one on," he said. "This one's gonna make you look innocent yet beautiful."
"Um...knowing you, you probably intentionally picked a dress that will look like a potato sack," I said and looked at the dress suspiciously. But it looked like a pretty dress.
"Just try it. I've been with enough females to know what looks good on them, so I can make anyone look sexy, including you," Hayden winked.
"Eww...I'm a teenager, pervert!" I said.
"So? You are turning 18 in a couple of months, so it's a fair game to lust over your body," he said and ducked as Alison threw her water bottle at him. Such an imbecile.
I rolled my eyes and went inside the fitting room to put the dress on. I don't know why I was listening to him anyway. I must've gone crazy.
I looked in the mirror and was surprised to see how good the dress looked. It was a light pink chiffon skater dress with a deep V-neckline. The wrapped waistline hugged my waist and the top half accentuated my breasts perfectly without revealing too much.
Innocent yet beautiful, I repeated Hayden's words in my head. Guess he knew what he was talking about.
"Wow Millie, that looks really good on you!" Alison chirped.
Hayden stared at me intently for a moment. "I told you I knew what I'm talking about," he said then avoided my eyes. What's that about?
"I like it a lot! You think Zack will notice me?" I said and did a little twirl.
"He would be crazy not to," Alison said reassuringly.
"Yeah, who can ignore that fat ass hiding under that dress?" Hayden shrugged.
"Don't you have somewhere else to be?" I glared at him.
"Yeah yeah, I'm outta here. Good luck getting laid this weekend. I got better things to do than hearing about your teenage bullshit," he said and waved us goodbye.
"God, how can he be so different than Zack? Are you sure he is not adopted?" I asked Alison.
She laughed. "Unfortunately not. He has always been like that. Obnoxious and mischievous. Mom had to try extra hard to keep him out of trouble."
"I'll have to admit, he does have good taste in clothing," I said and looked at the dress. I couldn't wait to wear this on Saturday.
"There's only one problem...." Alison said hesitantly.
I raised my eyebrows. I didn't like where this was going. "What's that?" I asked.
"Melanie is coming too," she said.
"Ugh why, why would you invite her?" I grimaced.
"Well, it's not like I had a choice. She is Zack's best friend whether they are together or not. It would've upset him if I didn't," she said.
"It's whatever, hopefully, he will realize that she is the wrong person for him," I sighed.
And then he will realize he belonged with me and we will live happily ever after.
