Ch-1
Pain!
Betrayal!
Hurt!
What else do we say when our family hurts us? But when they have no choice to do this, how do we react?!
We expect a lot from the family who loved us, but in the end, they give us nothing but pain.
What do you feel when you experience that?
Now our Adira Elisaveta was in this situation.
A heart-wrenching pain. It's the only thing that she could feel.
What happened to her? Where exactly did it start?
Yeah... it started from her ancestor's time and now... as the descendant of those greedy ancestors... she has to atone for their sins.
When she remembered the words of her brother Wilfred Elisaveta, her chest throbbed with pain. Didn't her brother love her? How could he do this to her? But on second thought, he has been left with no choice again. She could not blame him nor others. But her ancestors, if they were good, this wouldn't have arisen.
But they were dead, she couldn't do anything to dead people. But amidst all these things, she didn't understand one thing. That's... why her? There were a lot of women in the kingdom, and there were a lot of packs under their kingdom... but why her? At the thought of her burning future, she felt like her soul was being crushed into pieces. So this was how it feels to be sold out by her own family.
Tears streamed out of her eyes as she stared at her reflection in the mirror. The person in the mirror looked oddly unfamiliar in her twenty years of life. The person looked too beautiful but why was she so unfamiliar. She lived with this body for many years... everyone envied her beauty even when she wore no makeup... but today she wore it. She looked unfamiliar and beautiful. But now... she was not in the position to admire her beauty. The thought of the night party made her stomach churn.
Adira Elisaveta, the Princess of the Werewolf empire, sat in front of her mirror with her tear-stricken face.
With hazel eyes, her fleshy cute, chubby cheeks, small chin, plump lips, round face, button nose, and fair skin. She looked like an angel.
But oddly today, her hazel eyes looked lifeless, her lips never stopped trembling from last night, her hands clasped together, there are no creases on her face. She felt quiet, it was too quiet.
"You are crying again. Your make-up will be ruined, Adira," Her mother Serene Elisaveta said.
"Mom... I don't want this," she said to her, in her nasal voice.
"Adira, I know. But we have no choice," her mother said as she cast her eyes downwards, feeling sorry and helpless at her daughter's situation.
Serene missed her daughter's cheery self, she's a good talker, and always makes jokes and always runs around her, calling 'Mom... Mom... Mom..." And she was such a big glutton that... Whenever she calls Serene, it only means she found a good recipe from her friends, or from one of the many cookbooks that their family owned. Or she wanted to experiment with something. And when her cooking failed... she slowly sneakily add that spoiled food into her brother's meals and made him eat it. Even though Adira's brother feels disgusted, he would still eat them all because those were made by his little sister. How could he say no to his little sister? He is ten times older than her... so he dotes on her a lot. Adira is twenty years now. She was yet to find her mate. She was waiting from the moment she turned eighteen to find her mate but he was yet to appear.
As for her brother... he found his mate but... she died unexpectedly and no one knows the cause of her death. Wilfred tried to find another but he got nowhere... he turned weak due to the loss of his mate, as his mate bond weakened, people took that as their chance to get the throne but they failed. During that process, unknown secrets about him spilled out around the kingdom. Well... this story is for another time.
"I know you hate this but... neither you have a choice nor your brother," Serene added.
"But Mom... he is not my MATE!!" Adira said as she pressed the word mate, thinking that this would give a reason with her mother.
"Mom...go out. I will talk to her," a strong masculine voice resounded in the room. The voice has the power to make people flinch in fear. But that voice doesn't affect Adira. She was used to it.
"Talk to her, Will," she said, for which the man just nodded his head.
"Adira...." He called out in his extremely masculine voice.
"Brother..." Adira called out in reply.
"Little one... I know this is hard. But for the sake of the two races and the lives of our citizens depended on this," he said.
"Brother... Can't they make other demands? They are putting four people's lives in this game of chess. We have to suffer for a lifetime," she said.
"I know... Lil Adi... I am sorry... I disappointed you. As a King... I have to put the kingdom first, before my family." He said.
"Why me? There are a lot of females in this kingdom!? And why you!? I haven't found my mate! I don't want to marry some blood-sucking inhuman creature!" She yelled.
"Adira... do u think I want this!? You are my one and fucking God Damm sister!!! And for God Sake, you are my cherished pearl! Do you think I want to lose you! Huh!? Do you think I haven't made any other demands!? All failed! And I have to do this no matter what! We made this decision after three long months! In these three long months... I tried to make no end of deals with them! But all to no avail.
"Lil Twerp... Brother is helpless. Even I have to marry his sister. I am no less. Just please, do it for us and our Werewolf Kingdom and the packs under our Kingdom," he begged as tears began to roll down his face.
Ch-2
She walked slowly down along the red carpet which was laid out for her to walk upon. As she walked past, all the heads from the vampire race and the werewolf race would turn towards her side.
In general, a werewolf female was meant to be beautiful. But, surprisingly, Adira was even more beautiful than the other females. Maybe it is because she was special compared to these werewolves.
Hooking her hand into her brothers, she walked forwards, hiding the nervousness from everyone. She didn't want to embarrass the whole werewolf empire just by not being able to walk properly as well as by tripping down. Adira felt so glad that her brother William Maximus was with her. But her smile soon faded when she realized he wouldn't be with her. Lifting her head, she watched the side profile of his face.
"Smile, Lil Twerp," he bent down and whispered in her ears, reminding her of the place they were in. Adira lifted her head and looked at the people's staring eyes. She bent her head slightly and then lifted her head after a split second which was crept with a wide and yet beautiful smile.
Her smooth jade-like skin, delicate features, rosy lips, blushing cheeks, her thin frame, and her bright smile. And the dress she was wearing, fitted her perfectly exposing her curves.
Adira felt like she was being stuffed with all the corset and the layers she was wearing. She was wearing an off-shoulder frock with reached the ground. For every step she took the tail of her gown would sweep the ground. She badly wanted a maid to lift her gown tail. She wondered what made them be not hold it for today.
"Brother," she called him out.
"I want a maid to help me to hold up the frock," she whispered in a requesting tone.
"Not now, Twerp. Let the Vampire elders meet you. After that I will make you comfortable," William assured her.
Adira walked slowly and carefully as if she was walking in the well of snakes. Her heels were not working for her situation. She felt she was carrying 10 to 20 kilograms of weight upon herself.
Meanwhile....
Far away at the main table of the banquet...
A man wearing a black tux looked impatiently at the red carpet. He was forced to marry a werewolf princess. In fact... from what they knew about werewolves they have their mates fixed by the moon-goddess. In their lifetime, they can only love them. If they don't mate with their destined mate, their inner wolf would be weakened as time passes and would die.
He pitied his soon-to-be wife for it. Well... he didn't pity his soon-to-be wife's brother as the rumors say that he was a Lycan.
From what he knew, when his mother died, his father found his second mate which was an extremely rare thing to happen for any werewolf. But as his father was the king of all the werewolf packs he needs a Luna. So, he married his present wife. And it was said that Adira was the daughter of the present Luna, Serene Adolphine. Well, Adolphine is her maiden name. she still carries that name without changing it. Everyone finds it weird but no one has the guts to question her due to the power she holds.
Thinking about her family he realized it has many internal mysteries. He wondered if his wife would be able to cope with them. From what he heard his soon-to-be wife was a prankster and a trickster. Wondering, how she would be mixed with his family, he chuckled lightly.
He stood up from his seat quickly when his subordinate had said that he has gotten an important letter from the Velorine empire. He went along with him and soon read the contents in it. His chocolaty eyes turned red and fangs started growing as he read it.
"Don't forget who is the king and whose orders you should follow!" He said through his gritted teeth.
Fisting his hand, he tried to suppress his anger but he couldn't. He walked back to his seat slowly, as he continued to suppress his raging anger.
He realized quickly that he needs to drain someone, to make his anger vanish. He was about to call his subordinate to get a slave to drain her blood from her warm body. But before he was able to call him, he suddenly heard a few gasps. He rapidly followed the line of sight of his men. That's when he saw her.
His soon-to-be wife. She looked too beautiful to see. He didn't notice his fangs disappeared and his eyes turned blue from red.
As she walked across the carpet her beauty was complemented by her dress. It had an A-line neck dress with a low cut, that reached her breasts. As it's off-shoulder it revealed her snow-white skin to the eyes of the men. Her half sleeves made her hands look more slender than usual. The upper part of her dress hugged her body like a ruched bodice. The back of her dress was designed with Tea-length making her back look more beautiful. Men looked at her with awe, a few men stared at her longer than usual which earned an angry growl from William Maximus. Hearing his growl all the werewolf men lowered their heads, seeing this action from werewolves, the vampires quickly understood that they should keep their eyes away from Adira.
Even before when he was engaged to the prime minister's daughter, he never felt any kind of love or lust for her. But to his soon-to-be wife.... He felt like kidnapping her from here and hiding her from the whole world. He wanted to spend every damn second fucking her and claiming her as his.
Meanwhile....
Adira reached the main table somehow.
"Adira, Your soon-to-be husband," William said.
"Zaros Orpheus Velorine," he said walking towards her in his husky voice.
Adira felt her heart skip when she heard his voice ringing in her ears. The next thing he did gave a shock to her death.
Ch-3
Meanwhile
Adira reached the main table without stumbling and embarrassing herself. She heaved a sigh of relief. She held on to her brother's arm for support to stand till she got seated.
"I am tired, brother," Adira pouted at him, like a cute bun. Forgetting the eyes on her.
"Let's end this early and retire. Then you can get rest, okay?" Maximus said to her.
"But I am hungry too," she pouted again.
"Let's feed that little black hole in your stomach to its heart content. So that it won't trouble in the middle of that night to the point you have to sneak into the kitchen, okay?" Maximus said.
"Okay... but..." Adira trailed.
"I need extra desserts sent into my room, please," she pleaded like a child with her big lotus petal-shaped eyes, which gives an impression that she was being bullied by him.
"Sure," he replied.
"Bro is best," she said giving him a cheeky smile.
"Always for you," he replied to her with a smile.
There were werewolf growls and whistles in the background. Few people fainted in shock too. Indeed, the Lycan King would never smile at anyone apart from his sister. He loves her dearly and to the point, he doesn't even hesitate to kill anyone or himself. And as the first time, the werewolves watched him smile they couldn't help but growl. All it took was his silent stare at them to quiet them down.
Maximus swept a deathly glare at his werewolf people, which quietened them.
Taking a step forward, he stood in front of a man, who had pale skin and black eyes. He was wearing black clothes just like her brother. She could see the power clash between each other. But they were quietened maybe due to the pact between their kingdoms. She curiously peeked at him with her big lotus petal-shaped eyes.
Adira held her brother's tightly and was about to ask who the person was. But as if her brother could hear her words, he opened his mouth and said, "He is your soon-to-be husband, the Vampire King," Maximus said, Making Adira's eyes widen in surprise and shock!
What!?
[How in the hell?!] Adira screamed in her mind. He has sculpted features and a handsome face. And indeed compared to them he looked pale but when compared with the vampires he wasn't sickly pale. If he merges with humans or werewolves no one would say he was a vampire.
She could see him looking at her directly. Before when she was having a precious talk with her brother about her desserts, She almost thought he was a creep when he looked at her constantly without turning his gaze. Adira wanted to slap him with her sharp-pointed heel, but remembering that these heels were gifted to her by her precious brother, she didn't hold that thought anymore. But now hearing the words of her brother, she was surprised.
That man walked towards her, locking his gaze that held.... What was that look for? Was it amusement or was he looking down on her? If it's later then she would make sure he wouldn't use his balls in this lifetime. Adira narrowed her eyes at him as she gazed at him.
Her soon-to-be husband walked towards her and stood in front of her. "Zaros Orpheus Velorine," he said to her in a husky voice.
[Fuck! God! Why does he have such a husky voice!? I already like his voice!?] Adira screamed in her mind.
She was too engrossed in seeing his face and was feeling like she was listening to music in his voice.
[Girl! Just shut up! Don't fall for him!] Her wolf said.
[Remember! He is not your mate. He is here to break us from our mate.] Her wolf said to her, reminding the bitter truth of her.
But Adira liked the way he smelled. What scent was that? The smell of Citrus mixed with Woodsy. Why does she like his scent?
Aww.... She could see the muscle shape under his shirt. How badly she wanted to rip his clothes and have her way with him?
Wait... wait... wait... Why was she having these thoughts? She should have these thoughts with her mate. Not with anybody else and especially about this man. Shaking herself from her thoughts she looked at him. He took a step closer to her and took her right hand into his. She felt thousands of tingles occurred in her body. He was too close to her. And her heart was thumping too loudly inside her ribcage. The next second he took her hand and kissed the back of her hand.
The natural scent from his body which smelled like Citrus with woodsy hit her nostrils. As the seconds passed, the smell grew stronger and stronger. She felt red alarm bells ringing in her head. But she said nothing. When his cold hand, held hers she knew something was going to happen. But it only became true when his cold lips touched her palm.
[MATE!!!!!] Her wolf shouted in her head.
[WHAT!?] Adira yelled in her mind.
This cold-blooded vampire was her mate?!
Her mate was a Vampire King!?
Her eyes widened in shock. Unknown to her, her Hazel eyes were turning darker as seconds. Her Wolf was jumping in joy. She tried hard to control her wolf but all went to waste. His lips stayed in contact with her palm for more than the time they needed.
What she should do?
She can't have a Vampire as her mate?
This was the first time she was hearing or let's say she was experiencing someone having a mate other than werewolves.
Can Werewolves have mates other than werewolves?
The rare cases she heard were werewolves having human mates.
A Vampire mate!
God!
This was too much for her to handle!
She needs some air and space to think!
What she should do?
She saw him peeling his lips from her hand and looking into her straight.
Run!
That's the only word that came into her mind. That's when she took a step to run!
