Genre: Short stories
When Zheng Mimi, a brilliant chef working in Starlight-a popular restaurant in China-accidentally eats a rotten egg, she finds herself in the same story she had been reading nonstop. The story being 'The Overwhelming Lord's Sweet Consort'. A web novel that had attracted readers not only because of the angelic female lead and masculine male lead, but also because of the secondary female lead, Princess Yu Zhenzhen. Princess Yu Zhenzhen was the tyrannical first princess of the empire of Yu with a reputation unlike any other. A teenage girl that had led her loving family members to death by falling in love at first with her fiancé, the male lead. Unfortunately for the princess, she had been decided as the villainess, no matter how captivating her face may have seemed. As the princess cursed the duo that had been the main cause of her death in the epilogue of the story, Zheng Mimi finds her soul sucked into the story, portraying as the same evil princess, except a year before her death incident. Now, Zheng Mimi is fighting a battle of survival. Which means staying away from all those who have caused the original Yu Zhenzhen's death and hopefully living a peaceful life without the interference of anyone. But how was she supposed to know her naive behave had not only attracted the attention of the secondary male leads, but the male lead, himself!?

Chapter 0 0. Eating a Rotten Egg Causes One to be a Princess

"Qing Xiaolin, I hope you suffer a fate worse than death!" Yu Zhenzhen screamed loudly without a care for her reputation. "I hope you rot in the deepest depths of the underworld! I hope-" She wasn't given the chance to finish her cursing as Nangong Longwei embedded a sharp sword deep inside of her chest.

Yu Zhenzhen spat out blood and gave him a tear-stricken look, "Why? WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE HER? I have loved you for so long!" Her aggression caused her to spit more blood, but her fuming heart didn't allow her to pay attention.

"Yu Zhenzhen, you disgust me. It will never be you... you could never compare to her." Nangong Longwei hissed coldly. Yu Zhenzhen burst out laughing maniacally, "Bastard! Bengong's worst mistake was falling in love with you! Hear my call, I, Princess Yu Zhenzhen will be back. Even if I have to crawl my way from the underworld, I will be back. And at that time, this princess will not be as foolish!"

Her father, her mother, her entire family died all because of her selfishness. They all were willing to commit the worst acts to help her get rid of the girl who stole the man she loved. And what did all their behavior lead to? Their deaths. She was currently the last royal that had her eyes open... Regret filled her heart as more blood puddles around her.

Everyone snorted as the bully princess finally fell to the floor and closed her eyes. For years, they had to endure her tyrannical ways, but no more. The princess was dead! "The princess is dead!" Someone happily, loudly chimed. Happy echoes followed. Qing Xiaolin looked at the girl on the ground and started randomly sobbing. Nangong Longwei wiped away her tears and gently asked, "What's wrong?"

"I feel bad for her. She truly is pitiful..." Qing Xiaolin cried emotionally. Even she didn't know why she was so emotional."If I may, can I check young lady's pulse?" Someone from the crowd offered.

An elderly man walked forward as Nangong Longwei nodded. A few minutes later, the old man smiled joyfully. "The lady is pregnant. Long live our new emperor and empress! Long live the future crown prince!" Though they tumbled into bed before marriage, Nangong Longwei didn't care. He picked Qing Xiaolin and spun her around with a smile, "Let's live our lives together without any more trouble, my empress."

Qing Xiaolin giggled and wrapped her arms around the love of her life and kissed him, despite the eyes around them. Fortunately, nobody cared as they watched the beautiful couple embrace.

For years and years, Nangong Longwei and Qing Xiaolin lived happily ever after with their children.

THE END

Zheng Mimi choked, "What!? Did it end? I'm going to miss it so much! The Overwhelming Lord's Sweet Consort was such a good book!" She sighed, "I hated that it ended so soon..." She exited out of the novel and frowned, "Time to look for another web novel. Hopefully, this time the second female lead isn't as horrible as the Yu Zhenzhen. Goodness! Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."

Zheng Mimi's phone started ringing with a call from her mother. She picked it up and cringed. "Young lady, where are you? It is currently a quarter to eight and yet you still aren't home! Your work ended thirty minutes ago!" Her mother's loud voice nagged. "I'm still in at the restaurant. I just finished with all my work and I'll be home soon."

Despite being in her early twenties, her parents still insisted for her to live with them until she married. But Zheng Mimi didn't plan on getting married as no guy had truly made her heart 'beat'.

She squinted her eyes and saw a random egg on the spotless counter. "I thought I already cleaned everything? Huh."

Her stomach chose that exact moment to growl loudly. She blushed, thankful that no one was there except for her. Zheng Mimi shrugged and took out a frying pan, using the egg to make herself a light snack until she got home.

The moment she took a bite and swallowed, she started coughing. "Ew! It was a rotten egg! Seriously? It looks so normal and then you get the horrible taste."

Suddenly, Zheng Mimi started to feel dizzy as the world around her seemed like it was spinning. She fluttered her eyes and started groaning. She heard frantic yelling from a young girl with two adorable space buns wrapped in ribbon.

Her eyes were full of tears, "Princess! Nubi has been a bad servant. Nubi failed to get a physician in time before you fainted. Forgive this servant!" Zheng Mimi wiped her groggy eyes and mumbled, "Who are you?" The girl widened her eyes, "Princess, do you not recognize this servant?"

Zheng Mimi shook her head and the girl frantically yelled out, "Imperial physician, imperial physician! Something is wrong with the princess!"

Chapter 1 1. In the Body of the Evil Princess Damn it that Stupid Egg!

1. In the Body of the Evil Princess? Damn it that Stupid Egg!

"Your Highness, do you remember anything? Do you know who we are?" The old man in front of Zheng Mimi asked her. Currently, she was crowded by a lot of people whom she didn't recognize, all giving her looks of worry.

"I truly don't know how I even got here? What's with you calling me 'your highness'?" These people were insane. Sure, every girl dreamed of being royalty, but it was only a dream.

In reality, it was quite frightening.

The old man fanned himself and muttered incoherent words. He turned back to a woman who looked to be in her thirties and a man in his early forties, bowing apologetically, "Your Highness, this physician deems the case of the princess to be amnesia. It may take a while, but her memories will be back." Zheng Mimi snorted mentally. How could memories come back when they don't even exist in the first place?

The man nodded and waved the physician away, along with the maids and everyone else except for him, the woman, and a teenage boy. "Zhen Zhen, do you not recognize anyone? Do you not recognize your imperial father and mother?" The man asked dejectedly.

Zheng Mimi shook her head, "I am sorry. I don't know who anyone is. What is my name?" The woman leaned forward and hugged her carefully, "Zhen Zhen, it is me, your mother. My heart hurts knowing you don't know who I am..." Zheng Mimi took the opportunity to completely scan the trio in front of her, and she was shocked.

They were gorgeous! Supermodels-do-no-justice type of gorgeous. By their clothes, she was sure this wasn't an era where plastic surgery was available, so their attractive appearances are all natural. "Little sister, " the teenage boy said, his eyes full of emotion.

The man that had dismissed everyone earlier was wearing a yellow robe that had majestic symbols of dragons, so Zheng Mimi assumed he was some sort of an emperor. "Your name is Yu Zhenzhen, and you are the first princess of the Yu Empire." The man said making Zheng Mimi choke.

She began rapidly coughing and gave him a dubious look, "W-Who?" They all gave her a concerned look and the woman repeated, "You are Yu Zhenzhen-"

She didn't have the opportunity to finish her sentence as Zheng Mimi fainted.

Fifteen minutes later, Zheng Mimi woke up expecting to be in her bed at home, but she found herself in a super-comfortable bed. She looked around and gasped. The decorations of the room would make her stingy father collapse from anger. All around, one could see everything was either made from precious metal or expensive silk. The amount of money spent made Zheng Mimi almost dizzy.

Though extravagant, it was kind of tacky.

"Princess! You're awake! Please don't scare everyone again by fainting." The girl with the cute buns from earlier cried.

"Hmm... What is your name?" The girl bowed, "Nubi's name is Er Xi. Nubi has been serving princess since princess was five years of age."

"How old am I?" Er Xi gave Zheng Mimi a happy look, "Princess is fifteen, but princess will be sixteen in a week. Their Royal Highnesses will be hosting a big banquet in princess' honor."

Zheng Mimi started fanning herself and pondering. In the book, it was at Yu Zhenzhen's sixteenth birthday where her father announced her engagement with Nangong Longwei, and she officially met him for the first time in the book. Noticing her lovestruck look, Nangong Longwei was disgusted and his hatred began to form.

She snapped her fingers and grinned when an idea started to circulate in her mind. Since Nangong Longwei started his hatred when he met Yu Zhenzhen, then all Zheng Mimi had to do was ignore him.

Ignore him like he wasn't even worth dirt.

Maybe that could prevent Yu Zhenzhen's death that was going to happen in a year or so while she was only seventeen. Quite tragic, but Zheng Mimi, while reading the book, had personally agreed since the teenage princess was really too vicious. The plans she came up with caused Zheng Mimi to shiver for Qing Xiaolin.

Sure the girl stole your fiancé, but that didn't mean you had to go all psychopath on everyone.

Er Xi gave her a distressed look, "Princess, should nubi summon the physician again?" The princess had been behaving completely weird ever since she woke up. Usually, the princess would be yelling and demanding ridiculous things, but today, the princess was looking calm and dare Er Xi to think... kind?

"Nah, I'm okay. Er Xi, stop degrading yourself whenever you're with me. After all, you're a human being just like me." Er Xi almost foamed at the mouth when she heard what was coming out of the princess' mouth.

She coughed violently and her pale face turned red. "Princess? How could nubi even dare to place herself on the same platform as princess' precious self? May nubi's tongue be caught off if nubi ever did commit such an atrocious act."

Zheng Mimi rolled her eyes at Er Xi's dramatic behavior. She, a modern woman, obviously didn't believe in the useless and nauseating idea of servants and slaves. But the innocent girl in front of her was scared stiff at the thought of saying the word 'I' instead of 'this servant'.

Zheng Mimi sighed, "Er Xi, I really want us to be friends. Friends don't refer to themselves as servants." Once again, Er Xi was shocked frozen. In the ten years that she had been serving the princess, never had the princess uttered such words. Usually, she would be screaming or acting spoiled, flaunting her status as the first princess.

But the princess now... is she possessed?

Er Xi shook her head continuously, "No princess. Nubi doesn't dare befriend royalty like the princess."

"Er Xi! Fine, at least when no one else is around." Er Xi hesitated, but when she saw the earnest look in the princess' gaze, she subconsciously nodded. The princess smiled brilliantly leaving Er Xi awestruck. Never had the princess smiled like so. Her usual smiles consisted of malice and arrogance.

But the look the princess was sprouting now...

Er Xi had a feeling the princess was changing... and in a good way.

Chapter 2 2. Why is it so Troublesome to Die Peacefully

2. Why is it so Troublesome to Die Peacefully?

"Eggs." Er Xi gulped and eyed the princess, "Eh?"

"Eggs! The more the merrier, the more rotten the better!" Zheng Mimi repeated impatiently. Er Xi stared at the princess like she was an animal on exhibit in the zoo. The thing the princess hated eating the most was eggs. So why was she asking for eggs and rotten ones in particular?

"Princess, don't you dislike eggs with a passion?" Zheng Mimi snorted, "Just get me the eggs, please." Er Xi almost had a heart attack hearing the word please come out of the princess' mouth. She bobbed her head and dashed out of the room, forgetting to bow before she left. That made Zheng Mimi feel somewhat relieved as the girl was too uptight. Although it had been a few days since Zheng Mimi's soul transported to Yu Zhenzhen's body, Zheng Mimi wasn't giving up the idea of leaving.

She had tried all sorts of methods including suicide in a pond-which ended with the water reaching only to her knees and her clumsy self-tripping and face planting, walking back to her room like a drenched cat-and using a knife, but the knife the servants gave her was only the length of a pinky and wasn't that sharp.

The ancient equivalent of a modern butter knife.

Then her methods led her to try to smash a case on her head that looked to be made of porcelain, but in reality, it was a metal that was painted on the outside to imitate porcelain. Since she couldn't smash it on herself, she ended up banging her head until she started seeing stars.

Then she had tried tying her sheets to a hook and using it as a rope to hang herself, but who knew the princess was heavier than her tiny body lead on? The moment she lifted her legs off the stool, the sheets' knot came undone and she fell on the stool with her legs in a perfect split.

Even till now her aching muscles made her glare at sheets in resentment.

Finally, she had thought of using eggs, rotten ones to be exact.

Since that mysterious egg that tasted like smelly socks dipped in poo was the reason she was here, maybe eating another one would take her back.

How did Zheng Mimi know how such a flavor existed? Don't ask, it's a long story.

Zheng Mimi frowned and plotted her butt on her large, spacious bed. She wondered if she had recently attracted a crow since her luck was so bad. For goodness sake, she couldn't even kill herself in peace without failing miserably?

Finally, Er Xi walked into the room with all types of dishes made of eggs.

Before the servants even had the opportunity to set down the plates, the princess grabbed a pair of chopsticks and started chomping down the food like a starved animal. "Er Xi, Shis Ish So Hood! (Er Xi, this is so good!)" Zheng Mimi said with her mouth full.

The servants stared at her in shock, their eyes showing disbelief at how such a dainty princess could have the appetite of a large man. A few minutes later, Zheng Mimi burped loudly and wiped her mouth.

The servants gaped at the spotless plates and bowls and blinked several times, thinking they were hallucinating. When Zheng Mimi realized that nothing was happening, she pouted.

There goes another plan that didn't work!

What plan was she on now? Plan K? Plan L?

She passed Plan B long ago.

"Er Xi, I want you to bring me raw eggs. Like the egg as a whole without it being made into a dish. If it is rotten, then all the better. Don't bring me egg dishes this time."

Er Xi wondered if instead of eggs, she should get the palace physician. After all, the old man had been visiting very often these few days due to the princess' strange antics.

Despite her protests, Er Xi silently went to the kitchen and asked them for what the princess requested. "Eh? Rotten eggs? Er Xi, is the princess okay?" One of the servants in the kitchen asked with a mocking tone.

"Yeah, the princess is turning more and more... interesting nowadays." Another servant added laughing. "Imprudent!" Er Xi snapped. "Mere servants dare to mock a princess? Have you eaten the liver of a tiger? Grown the balls of a lion?" She didn't understand the irritation she felt in her chest when these people made fun of the princess. Sure she was a bit odd, but who wasn't?

Both servants were about to retort but quickly kneeled in fear at the sight of something behind Er Xi. "Er Xi, did you get the eggs yet?" Zheng Mimi questioned.

Her beautiful appearance in the kitchen was like a beam light in the midst of darkness.

Though Zheng Mimi didn't mention, in the novel, Yu Zhenzhen was the most beautiful female which added on to her arrogance that she was better than Qing Xiaolin. No matter where Yu Zhenzhen went, her appearance overshadowed everything and everyone.

At first, Zheng Mimi was confused when reading about Yu Zhenzhen's beauty but then understood.

Usually, the female lead was the gorgeous character, but the author of this novel had given Yu Zhenzhen the advantage to create a balance and to make the princess not feel inferior to Qing Xiaolin. If the female lead was prettier than the antagonist, then the story wouldn't be as interesting as the antagonist would feel defeat and inferior.

However, if she was the prettiest character, the antagonist would have a reason to believe she was better. In fact, the entire royal family of Yu was gorgeous especially the empress and her two children.

"Yes princess, these servants were about to get them for you." Er Xi didn't ask whether or not the princess heard the mocking words, she didn't dare hurt the princess' feelings. "Er Xi, tell them to hurry. I need the eggs, ginger, and a bit of honey to create a facial mask. My smooth skin had been feeling a bit dry." Hearing this, the servants' ears went red with shame.

Their mocking was for nothing as the princess was only using it for a beauty product. Er Xi smiled and nodded. "The ingredients will be delivered shortly. Princess should go back as it isn't proper to be a kitchen for too long."

Zheng Mimi nodded and walked back. Actually, she came to check up on how long her rotten eggs were going to take to be delivered, but then she overheard the servants' mocking behavior.

She then heard Er Xi's protective tone and felt a warm feeling in her chest. In the modern world, she only had a few friends, and they weren't even close friends. Though they spoke to her, it was only because she was a brilliant chef and they wanted pointers and advice.

So hearing Er Xi's genuine tone made her happy.

She had a feeling that they were going to be good friends.
