Chapter 1 The end of the beginning

Mr. Blackwood Walked into the glass walled conference room with all his board members present.

"Mr. Blackwood addresses the board members concerning their recent plan to launch the company, this is a multi-million dollars tech company,"

Mr. Blackwood needed the best advertising agency to create a campaign that could capture global attention, for a successful launch.

"Mr. Marvel which advertising agency will help us achieve this?"

"Thank you, Mr. Blackwood, for this opportunity, Harthood advertising agency can help us achieve this, they promise transparency and efficiency and fellow board members can attest to this."

"What if we consider keeping the contract open to both Harthood Agency and Rele Agency, which know that they're the best recently in New York City. We can then invite both parties to present their proposals, allowing us to evaluate and choose the best fit for our company? Lucas suggested"

"I think we go with Mr. Lucas' suggestion, " he concluded as he walked out of the conference room.

His assistant followed him immediately with the minutes of the meeting down a glass walled hallway that led to his office.

Mr. Roberts receives a letter from Blackwood tech venture requesting for the presentation of their proposal for a campaign that they're to embark on.

"Skylar, we've selected you to represent this leading advertising agency at Black wood tech Ventures partnership presentation," Mr. Robert said as he handed over the invitation to her. Skylar's eyes were open in astonishment.

This notion lingered in Skylar's mind even until the close of work that day.

Why would the CEO think of appointing me to represent the firm at Black wood tech Ventures.

Skylar muttered as she kept recalling Mr. Roberts words, one could barely tell that she was a bit nervous, but beneath the nervousness there was a flicker of excitement because this was the first time in her company that she was given the opportunity to meet bigger companies like Austin's Global. Maybe this was an opportunity to improve herself.

Skylar is just a twenty-four year fresh graduate from college, who is still exploring her identity. She is a reserved and talented marketing specialist.

Skylar leaned against the railing of her small apartment balcony, clutching a steaming cup of coffee as she pictured herself on a long table surrounded by prominent executives.

Not too long Skylar immersed herself in research, scrutinizing market trends, competitor's analysis and perfecting her presentation. The meeting was in two days.

As dusk approached, Skylar took a break, clearing her mind as she visualized success and affirming her confidence once again.

It was the last day for preparations, Skylar dedicated the morning to rehearsals, she refined slides, ensuring clarity and perfection.

Skylar's heels clicked against the marble floor of the gigantic skyscraper as she had a firm grip of the portfolio in her hand.

She adjusted her pink blazer then tucking a tray of braids behind her ear as she stepped into the elevator. The door opened with a soft chime on the top floor. The pressure to make a good impression weighed heavily on her. Taking a deep breath, she straightened her shoulder as she took a glance at herself in the mirror in front of the elevator.

The receptionist waved her toward the first entrance to the right.

She approached a glass conference room, and seated at the edge of the table was a tall, sharp-jawed, and dressed in a well tailored black suit that probably cost more than her entire wardrobe, she didn't need a conviction to believe that this was Mr. Austin Blackwood, his assistant gave a nod and opened the door.

She took a seat at the long conference table, trying to steady her hands. She took a deep breath, calming her nerves. No time for self-doubt. You've earned this, she reminded herself.

Mr. Blackwood sank into the plush chair,

You're Miss......

It's Miss Skylar Martins sir.

"Miss Martins he said.

'I've heard good things about your agency.

"I hope you know why your here."

" Thank you, Mr. Austin.

Skylar hesitated "I assumed it was to discuss the proposal.

'I've prepared a proposal, 'she said as she handed over the proposal to him.... Mr. Austin interrupted"

I already know your agency is capable. A hint of amusement flickered on his lips "But there's another factor at play here."

Skylar frowned, uncertain where this was going. "What do you mean? "I don't just hire people based on their company's reputation. I hire people I can trust".

"I need someone who can handle this project with discretion and dedication- someone I can trust implicitly".

"Your company is small, but you've handled some impressive accounts. What makes you think you're ready to take on something that is big, It's a global brand."

"I know the scale of your project, Mr. Austin And I'm confident we can handle it. We may not be the biggest firm, but we deliver results."

"How can your agency help to grow our company Mr. Rolland a board member of Austin global asked."

Miss martins presented boldly as Mr. Blackwood listened intently with his penetrating stare scrutinizing every detail.

Finally, Austin spoke. "I appreciate the confidence, Miss martins. He shook her hand sealing the agreement and the board applauded in approval.

A representative from Rele Agency was given the audience to present her proposal.

At the end of the presentation Harthood advertising Agency, represented by Miss Skylar Martins won the contract and our company is happy to partner with your agency. Said Mr. Blackwood

To celebrate the partnership, we go over to the banquet to have our launch.

Skylar's attention was drawn to Austin's charisma and intellect. As the celebration lasted, Austin's assistant, Rachel, discreetly approached Skylar.

"The CEO invites you to join him in his private apartment. He'd like to discuss further business strategies and get to know you better." She handed Skylar a sleek, black invitation card with Austin's address: The Blackwood Tower, 100 Fifth Avenue, Penthouse Suite.

Shall He send a car for you, Miss martins, 8 p.m. tomorrow?"

Skylar nodded, her mind racing with anticipation.

She accepted the invitation, after a brief pause for consideration.

Chapter 2 Skylar

As Skylar slipped into her haven, she unwound with a soothing shower, the warm water enveloped her, calming her triumphant spirit, before reclining to her bed. She gazed upward as reflections of the day's event flooded her mind, how she transcended from a shy, quiet and introverted young lady with promising potentials to a bold outspoken market specialist. She was unable to shake off the memories of her interaction with Mr. Blackwood's assistant.

"Midnight wrapped around Skylar like a soft velvet cloak as sleep enveloped her like a warm embrace."

Skylar's eyes quivered open, illuminated by the soft golden light of the sun radiated across the room as the cool air conditioner caressed her skin.

"She stepped outside for a quick glance at the morning sun in order to get soaked by its warmth, soft hum wrapped her, as she sipped her coffee gently.

"Good day Miss martins, congratulations on an exceptional performance.

Your outstanding achievement has secured our partnership with the famous Blackwood tech ventures surpassing our competitors and setting a significant milestone for not just yourself but for the agency as well."

"I appreciate your congratulations Mr. Robert, this achievement is as a result of our team's collaborative effort, I must say that I am thrilled to contribute to the agency's success.

"I look forward to reviewing the meeting's report in my office shortly.

"Mr. Robert enunciated as he entered his opulent office where his gigantic portrait dominated the right corner.

Skylar walked into her office, proceeded to collect her coffee and swiftly arranged her files. She tucked her hand into her bag to retrieve her flash but mistakenly pulled out Mr. Austin's invitation card.

Skylar stared at the invitation card, her fingers trembling slightly as she reread the elegant script. A dinner with a prominent CEO? For her? She was only twenty-four.

Upon completing her task, she checked into a hotel room to chill while waiting for Austin's chauffeur to arrive for the trip to Mr. Blackwood's apartment.

"She felt a thrill of excitement tempered by a hint of nervousness as she prepared to meet Mr. Blackwood."

After sharing her location, a sleek white limousine pulled up, promptly viewing the scenes from her room's balcony, where she stood, admiring the surroundings, elegantly dressed in a pink striped gown that accentuated her curves.

'Shortly afterwards, the room's phone rang alerting her that her attention was needed.' After a swift self-check on the mirror, she proceeded downstairs to the awaiting limousine.

They arrived at an opulent apartment exemplifying luxury and sophistication.

She was escorted into a stunning glass walled living room to await Mr. Blackwood's arrival.

Thereafter Mr. Blackwood's assistant ushered her to a dimly lit room to meet Mr. Blackwood."

"Miss martins, would you kindly take a seat?

Skylar stole a glance at the dining hall, and she noticed the dining room's Golden interior.

Skylar experienced a little bit of unease, though Austin's Aura was calm and professional.

He presented a business agreement requiring my signature to formalize our company's partnership.

"Mr. Blackwood leaned at the edge of the were Skylar sat" Miss martins.

After a brief hesitation Mr. Blackwood asked "do you understand what I meant by I don't just hire people based on their company's reputation. I hire people I can trust."

"I need someone who can handle this project with discretion and dedication- someone I can trust implicitly."

He took a step closer, his gaze never leaving hers. "

I need someone who can navigate my world, someone who understands that business, for me, is never just business.' He said as he handed over a glass of champagne to her.

Mr. Austin's words had a way of resonating authority.

For a moment, silence hung between them, and Skylar resisted the urge to fidget under his intense stare.

Skylar's mind raced, trying to process what he was saying. Was he suggesting...? She tried to keep her voice steady. "What exactly are you proposing, Mr. Austin."

He smiled then, slow and deliberate, like a predator who had just caught the scent of its prey. "I don't mix business with pleasure unless there is something to gain from both.

I'll give you time to think, "he uttered as he refilled his glass with wine.

But you have just thirty minutes to do that.

"He sank back into his plush, sipping his champagne."

He tilted his head, studying her for a moment.

The room seemed to close in around her, the weight of his words hanging heavy in the air.

She told herself "He was harmless, and this was just business."

Silence stretched between them, but it wasn't uncomfortable.

Her heart pounded as she looked up at him, lights reflected in his deep blue eyes. And in that moment, she made her choice.

He smiled again, but this time it was different- more serious, as if he had been waiting for this moment.

But as the night descended, the lines blurred. The tension that had been simmering beneath the surface began to rise. Mr. Blackwood moved closer, his hand brushing hers as he handed her another glass of champagne, a mixture of uncertainty and undeniable attraction stirring inside her. She had never intended for the evening to go beyond business.

The conversation grew more personal, drifting from business to their personal life, the atmosphere thickened as they talked, the space between them closing in as the energy shifted.

Their conversation had shifted to soft whispers, the professional guise long gone.

As tension culminated, Austin's bold, gentle lip caught Skylar.

Skylar hesitated, then kissed him back letting go of her doubts.

Despite their deepening connection they navigated the intimate space of his bedroom.

The boundary between reason and passion dissolved, marking an irreversible cross to her carefully constructed professional boundaries dissolving in the heat of the moment. It wasn't until much later, lying beside Austin in the dim light of the apartment, that the reality of what had happened began to sink in.

Skylar lay awake, her mind spinning. She had come to Austin's apartment for a business deal and had left with far more than she had bargained for. The weight of what had happened pressed heavily on her, the consequences still uncertain.

Skylar slipped out of the bed and dressed quietly as dawn broke, not to disturb Austin. The agreement was sealed yet the price of its attainment remained uncertain. The boundaries between business and personal life had been blurred beyond recognition.

The city's awaking sound, bird chirpings, car humming contracted with her inner silence.

Skylar stuck around for Austin to wake, dressed and ready to go as if nothing had happened.

His personal chef walked in with two cups of freshly brewed coffee.

Skylar struggles with her emotions, questioning her judgment as she sips her coffee.

Chapter 3 The choice

"I tried to keep the meeting professional as possible, but I feel he had a way of getting whatever he wanted with his commanding and irresistible charisma. He has a gentle yet convincing way of making you believe him. His soft-spoken voice was mixed with a persuasive authority.

She felt objectified, because she knew she was far beneath him, she felt like a mere conquest to him, so she believes Mr. Austin just wanted her for one thing, which was to satisfy him emotionally."

These dark thoughts clouded her mind as she snoozed off on her soft couch.

Her phone buzzed on her desk, she looked at the screen and froze, it was Samantha, her best friend then in college.

"Hey Skylar, how are you girlie, it seems like I haven't seen you in months."

"Hi Sam, I'm good, just having a busy schedule over here at work, I barely have time for myself."

Skylar, you never told me you got a job.

My bad, it escaped my mind, probably because we haven't talked for a very long time now, she sighed running a hand through her hair.

"Are you sure you're fine Skylar because you don't sound like it, don't tell me it's just work."

"Sam, it's kind of complicated."

"let's have dinner at my place tomorrow by 7."

Okay Sam, I'll make it.

********

Skylar walks into Mr. Austin's office to submit her report from the previous week, it looked more like Skylar was now a staff of Austin's Global because of her full-time participation in the company because of the partnership, she bumped into a tall, thin jaw man, in his well tailored suits that fit him perfectly, she had never met him before.

"He looks very much like Mr. Austin, this would be his brother, but he looks younger though she muttered.

Skylar walked into Mr. Austin's office.

"Good day sir, this is the report from the podcast from last week, she said as she handed him over a file."

He took the file and glanced at it, then he leaned back on his chair.

Skylar was expecting a response from Mr. Blackwood before she leaves his office but rather, he was not saying anything.

Skylar broke the silence that existed between them, with her voice that was barely above whispers,

"I hope our latest collaboration displayed significant progress" she commented.

Yes, Miss Martins, he leaned forward resting his hands on the table in front of him, he said "this is quite impressive, I knew I could trust your agency with this.

"Thank you, Mr. Blackwood."

Mr. Austin's phone buzzed, he grabbed it quickly, but it wasn't anybody strange. It was Desmond, his younger brother, the guy that bumped into Skylar when she was coming into his office.

"Why is this dude calling again? I thought he just left here a few minutes ago, I wonder what he forgot to say earlier."

"Who's the girl with flawless skin that walked into your office?"

"She's the marketing specialist of a harthood advertising agency, our business partner."

"Sir, I should probably get back to work."

Mr. Austin nodded in approval.

The voice at the other end wasn't familiar though, she said as headed towards the exit heading to her agency.

She checked her to-do list and what she had next was to check the latest updates from other companies.

Her finger poised over her keyboard as she reviewed the latest updates.

Not quite long, the secretary walked into her office.

Miss Skylar, Mr. Robert seeks your attention urgently.

"I'll be there in a jiffy."

Good day Mr. Roberts

"Have your seat, thank you once again for earning us this multi-million dollar contract, the confidence to beat our opponent was very impressive, I must say. This is a contract that may last a long term, based our transparency and efficiency. In order to earn their trust, I expect you to remain consistent with your reports to both companies....

The door slammed open, and the secretary walked in with two glasses of wine.

"Thank you very much sir, for the privilege."

"The main reason why I invited you here was concerning the recent changes that will occur in this agency. But it's still in its incubator stage for now, but we'll have a meeting anytime from now."

"But for the meantime, we will be having a live interview with a representative of Blackwood ventures."

Later that evening.

she stepped out of the cab, Samantha welcomed her with a warm embrace wrapping her hands around her.

Samantha opened the door made of heavy oak and Skylar walked in.

"I made meat balls and pasta for you."

They sat beside the fireplace, devouring the warm meal.

I forgot, I never told you I'd gotten a job, Skylar sounded very apologetic.

That's not a problem.

why were you sounding weird over the phone the other day, what happened,

"It's just work and the many things that transpired."

"It was a kind of bridge in agreement between me and the CEO of the company that my agency works for."

"Skylar give her a brief summary of what happened."

"Sam, The CEO invited me over to his house for a business dinner mainly to formalize the deal. I accepted his invitation though I was a bit skeptical about this. I forced myself to believe that the meeting will be strictly professional, knowing the kind of person Mr. Blackwood was. After signing the business agreement, he disclosed the main aim of our meeting, he was entirely different from the Mr. Austin I met in the conference hall. As you would have it, he had a way of luring me to his bed. He had this Undeniable and irresistible personality." as she spoke, tears rolled down her cheek."

She dabbed her tears with the hem of her coat.

"You don't have to cry, " she said as wrapped her hands around her."

"What if the billionaire CEO loves you and wants something more than just a one day encounter?

Cheer up baby girl. She said as she ran her hand down from her hair to her back gently caressing it."

"That's not possible, I am far beneath him, very far beneath him. I mean, you know he's very influential and will not agree to settle with someone like me.'

"I have a plan, she revealed what if we make him pay for the consequences of the harm he has caused?"
