The Triumph Of An Alpha

CHAPTER ONE

SERENA'S POV

"Argh!" I screamed, not loud enough to cause an alarm though

Jake was at it again, with someone else, it seemed he was doing it on purpose this time, cause I could feel how excited he was

The pain ceased for sometime, and I sat up right

Just as I was about to stand up and go look for him, another wave of pain hit me again and I fell to the ground

Hot tears rolled down my cheeks as I remembered the day I found out Jake was my mate

I was overjoyed,and so was he. He loved me so much and treated me with utmost care and respect

Not until, I couldn't birth him an heir, we tried all possible ways, visited all the powerful witches but all was in vain

The thought of how nice he treated me then and now got me crying harder, he had changed a lot

He goes sleeping around with different women,.making me suffer the consequences

A fresh wave of pain hit me again, and then I had it all. I was done being a wife and Luna to the people, while a punching bag and trash to my very own mate, I was done suffering for someone who didn't care

I Made up my mind to leave, and as soon as the pain ceased, I began packing my belongings

Before I could open the door, it flung open to reveal Jake

"Cursed witch, where are you headed with all these" he asked gesturing at my stuff

"For the last time Jake, I am not a witch, neither am I cursed" I said , defending myself from the nickname he gave to me

"Oh shut up! Like you'd ever admit it"

"That aside, you know what I just found out?"

"What?" I asked, looking at him confusedly

"I found out, that you bewitched me bitch, you were never my mate, and that's why, you can't conceive a baby" he sounded so cold that tears ran down my cheeks

How could he of all people say such a thing

"Jake! What is wrong with you? How dare you say such a thing to me? I am not even a witch, how could I...." He didn't let me finish. I wanted to slap him real hard, but it would only amount to me being injured and that was the last thing I wanted to happen

"You mustn't be one before you can bewitch me, they are your friends aren't they?" He said, sternly, maintaining eye contact with me

All I did was sigh in frustration, I didn't know what to say to him, even if I wanted to say something

"Well, I would be leaving, you'll be free now from whatever 'spell' I casted upon you" I announced, making sure to stress out the word 'spell'.

"Hm! So that explains this?" He scoffed, wearing a blank expression on his face, like I didn't just say I was leaving for good. I had never felt so worthless in my life as I did that moment

"It's getting very late...." He was saying, but I cut in, did he really think anything he said right now could stop me from leaving?

"Don't worry about me, I'll be fine, and also know that no matter what you say or do, can not stop me from leaving " I said, and then grabbed my suitcase

Jake just stood there staring at me with a confused expression, and suddenly, he bursted out laughing

"I wasn't going to ask you to stay, all I wanted to say was that you should be on your way now, since it is getting late. Oh! Were you expecting me to beg you? You thought I would try talking you into not leaving? That's pathetic Serena, you among everyone should know me better. As a matter of fact, I am very delighted that you have finally decided to leave dear wife" who was this heartless man? Where was the man I got mated to?

These thoughts ran through my mind that my sight became blurry, but I didn't give in to the tears, I was done letting him make me feel like trash, he would never see me cry, ever again

But my cheeks burned tomato red in embarrassment, and he was right, it was pathetic of me

"Whatever" I said, trying to make it sound very natural, in order to show him that I didn't care, but my shaky voice failed me. Anyway, I reached for the door

"Wait!" His voice pulled me to a stop and I turned to look at him

"Hope you do not intend to come back here? I mean, hope you're going for good, cause you won't be welcomed here any longer" he said anticipating for my answer, and ready to mock me, but I wasn't going to let him

I sighed heavily, I had been enduring his unjust actions towards me for a very long time now, cause I felt I deserved it, but now I was going to stand up for myself and do what was necessary

"I Serena Harvard, reject you, Jake Rodriguez As my mate" I declared and I felt a sharp pain on my chest, he also clenched on his chest, he also felt the sharp pain signaling that a part of our bond was broken

I could see rage, anger and disbelief burning in his eyes, he didn't expect me to reject him

"Well, I Jake Rodriguez, Alpha of The Greenwood Pack, accept your rejection and denounce you, Serena Harvard, as my mate and Luna of this Pack" he declared also, and we winced in pain again, signaling that the bond between us was finally broken

After the pain subsided, I turned to leave

"Lest I forget, you're banned from this pack, so don't even think of settling at your parent's" What the flying fuck! I turned sharply towards his direction

"You can't do this to me Jake, where do I go?" I asked, not expecting any reply though

"How should that be my problem? You're now a rogue, so get going" He said, nonchalantly

"Is that how much hatred you have for me? I could get ki..." I was saying but he didn't even let me finish

"Tsk! You could get killed, for all I care" he said, and I just starred at him in utter disbelief

'Who is this man?' I asked myself

"Whoever kills you, would be doing you and the entire world a favor, because you're useless. Who knows, maybe you're badly needed in the land of the spirits, you never know" he said on and on with a shrug and I couldn't help but shed tears

I went out of the bedroom and banged the door out of anger

On my way through the hall way, uncontrollable tears rolled down my cheeks

I had momurings from the maids and guards some pitied my life and others made morcrey of it

There wasn't any need to say anything to them, so I just left, in pain anger and embarrassment

"Oh! Look who has been banned from the pack, such a big misfortune, where does she intend to go now?" The voice of Clarissa pulled my attention

Maybe I was really cursed , cause I couldn't understand why my very own sister would be happy to see me leaving through the pack's boundary with luggages

She couldn't even ask where I was headed

"How did you know I was banned? Cause the last time I checked, no member of the pack is aware of that" I asked

"Oh no! She isn't aware?" She asked, feigning surprise

"Did the moon goddess sieze your mate linking ability? Oh I forgot, he is not your real mate. Well, In the next two days I would be announced as the new Luna of this Pack, little sister" Moon goddess, take my life now, why is this happening to me of all the people in the world

My mouth opened and closed severally but no words came out

"This came as a shock to you? Oh I'm so sorry hun, I thought you already knew I was the one Jake has been spending time with all these while" she said with a smirk curved on her lips

"Wait! What! Cla... Clarissa, you're my sister for...." I was saying but she cut me off

"We both know you bewitched Jake, I mean you've always wanted to be his mate, even before you turned eighteen, you were all over him, and knowing you, you would do anything just to....." She didn't complete her statement as my palm landed firmly on her cheeks

"You're a disgrace to our family, I thought you were raised better, you would regret this Clarissa, I promise you that" I said in tears

"Jake would also regret this, the entire pack will regret this, I curse the day I became Luna of this Pack, I curse you all, you will definitely regret doing this to me" I continued in a yell with uncontrollable tears rolling down my cheeks

"Hm! Pathetic Loser" Clarissa said, and the next minute, I saw myself in the air

Clarissa pushed me off the cliff, I tried to wolf out, but my emotions got the better of me and the last thing I saw was the pointed branch of a tree, then I blacked out

Chapter Two

SERENA'S POV

The loud bang I heard, made me sit up with an impulse

I looked around and found no threat. I had been unconscious for who knows how long.

My head hurted badly but I didn't realize it until I became calm and was sure there was no threat around me

There were lots of bruises all over my body, and they all hurt, coupled with the memory of what happened yesterday or the day before, I had no idea, it hurt me more

I tried to get up but couldn't, and had no clue on what to do

I even tried calling for help, but my throat was soar, even if it wasn't, it was ridiculous trying to call for help in the woods

"Argh!" I winced in pain and frustration, then I remembered I had some ointments in my luggage

"Thank the moon goddess, my luggage was hung on my shoulders, who knows where it would have been by now" I said with a chuckle

I applied the ointment, but my scratches didn't heal, and that got me worried sick

I could remember when I tried to mind Link my mom, but it didn't work, I also tried tapping into Jake's emotions, that still didn't work, I also remembered trying to wolf out , when I was falling off the cliff, but I couldn't, and now this?

"Could it be that....no, no that can't be possible, it's just my feelings getting the better of me" I said trying to shove off my thoughts

Then I laid back to rest, but it seemed the moon goddess had other plans

"Grrr!" The sound of a wolf echoed in my ears

Turning towards it's direction, I was wowed, it was huge, had sea blue eyes, and it's furs where as dark as the night

I could tell he was a male, an Alpha blood, just by it's structures, and my goodness! it was a sight to behold

I was dazed watching it, until it took one gallant step forward, while I crawled backwards

I guess fear made me forget about my body pains

He moved forward again and I equally moved backwards

"Grrr!" It roared again

"I...I... I'm begging you, please don't hurt me" I pleaded and moved backwards again

With the next step he took, he was already right in front of me and I just fell flatly to the ground

He sniffed me head to toe, but I just stayed still, ready for the worst, but I was taken aback by his next action

He licked my bruises and they suddenly began to heal, soon, I was okay

I couldn't say thanks, cause in the speed of light, he was gone

THIRD PERSON'S POV

"Damn it! Why didn't he just kill her? Why was he helping her?" Clarissa asked no one in particular with a gritted teeth

"Hey! Take it easy, she is in the woods, him not terminating her life doesn't mean she would survive, stop taking it too hard on yourself" the witch said, trying to calm her down

Immediately Clarissa pushed Serena off the cliff the other day, she went straight to the witch's

They tracked Serena's movement with the help of the crystal ball

The crystal ball was something only powerful witches possessed, and it was used to see into the past, the future and also the present

"Who is that wolf, and what's his identity?" Clarissa asked the witch

"How do you expect I Know that? It's not like I've seen him before" She replied

"Isn't that why you're a witch? Find out, do I have to tell you everything? Goodness!" Clarissa said almost in a yell

The witch spoke some gibberish words and some incantations, her eyes illuminated and her silk blackish grey hair began floating in the air, without the presence of wind

After some time, the lights disappeared

"So...." Clarissa inquired, with a raised eyebrow

"Well, I couldn't see his identity, it's hidden, which means he is a very powerful wolf, all I can say, is that he has Alpha blood running through his veins" the witch revealed, making Clarissa sigh

"Hhh! That bitch really has to die, that's all I care about" Clarissa said and walked away, all her mind was occupied with, was how to end the life of her sister without it being traced to her

"Can't even say goodbye" the witch complained

SERENA'S POV

I was walking in the woods all alone, had tried so many times to wolf out, but I couldn't

I had no where to go, and now labeled as a rouge, So I decided to have some rest by a shallow river

Just as I sat down, my stomach grumbled, I looked around and found nothing I could really eat, the whole place was surrounded by trees, they had fruits though, but I couldn't eat those

Suddenly the idea of fishing popped into my head

I was by a pond anyways, I tried thousands of times, but couldn't make a catch, so I gave up trying

Then I took a bath and changed into something I could run comfortably with, cause you never can tell what would make you run In the woods

Suddenly, I began to feel water droplets on my body, it was about to rain and I had nowhere to go

The downpour became harsh, and as if that wasn't enough

I heard the growl of an animal, very close to me, I didn't know what it was, I wasn't ready to know

Just by it growls alone, I knew it was something big

I took to my heels and as though it was waiting for that, it started chasing after me

"Holy shit! What in the world is this?" I questioned, as I tilted my head backwards

It had the structure of a human, had the face of a wolf, and then it had horns, and long sharp claws

I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, but I didn't see the possibility of myself escaping death

I only ran based on my survival instinct

Just when I tilted my head to Look towards it, I tripped and fell to the ground

It growled and used one of it's fingers to poke my arm, blood gushed out, but it healed almost immediately

The next minute, it's index giant nail was on it's way to my chest, just right at the position of my heart

I closed my eyes and submitted myself to death

Blood gushing was the next sound I heard, and I thought I was dead already

'surprising how it didn't hurt' I thought

"Hey! You can get up now" a masculine voice said and I opened my eyes

It didn't look like the land of the spirits though

"Get up before someone else sees you here" he said

I turned right and saw the monster lying lifeless on the ground

Turns out it wasn't my blood gushing, and I sighed in relief

"Hey! What are you thinking about, I'm trying to save your life and you aren't helping matters" he complained

"Where is this place?" I asked

"This is the Dark Heart Pack, and you're a rogue, which means you're not allowed here" he responded, like I didn't already know that I was a rogue

"Then why bring me to your tent? Why save me from the monster, oh! You want to take me to your Alpha, so that he would cut off my head and add it to his achievement right?" I asked in fear, but made sure to sound carefree, just like a normal rogue would

"Will you just stop talking, what if someone hears you, I don't mean to hurt you, seeing you, I already know you're a good wolf, because those monsters are related to the rogues" he said but I just stared at him

"Seeing it chasing after you, then I knew you must be different from them, that's why I saved you" he continued

As though he knew how hungry I was, he offered me a piece of dried meat, I didn't think twice before collecting and devouring it

"Thanks" I said and he nodded

"Be Careful, if anyone finds out you're here, then both our heads would be rolling on the floor at the Alphas chamber" he warned and I nodded

I couldn't trust him, no matter what he said, I didn't plan to spend the night there anyways, what's the worse that could happen?

CHAPTER THREE

THIRD PERSON'S POV

"Hm! She survived the woods, but once again, chose the Wrong location, your sister must have been cursed by her ancestors" the witch said, as they both starred at Serena through the crystal ball

"She been cursed or not, is non of my business, How does she keep escaping death?" Clarissa groaned

"How did she outrun that ish.. ish.. whatever you called it? Are you even reliable? Cause I am starting to doubt if you're actually the most powerful witch in this region" she questioned

"Your sister ran out of luck the minute she stepped foot into The Dark Heart Pack, so don't worry too much" The witch said in an assuring tone, not without a smirk though

Clarissa just sat there starring at her with a confused expression, but suddenly, her face litted up and she smiled ear to ear

"The show just got more interesting" she said, still smiling

"Yes it did" The witch replied, equally smiling

"It's late now, I have to get going, I don't want Jake asking about my whereabouts" Clarissa said and with that, left the coven

SERENA'S POV

Some minutes after the guard left the tent, I made my way out

It was really dark outside, and a disadvantage to me because female wolves cannot see clearly in the dark, unless they wolfed out

And unfortunately for me, I couldn't, but that still didn't stop me from leaving

"Hey, who are you?" The voice of a man put me to a halt

"What are you doing by the border?" He asked, I guess he didn't figure I was a rogue

"Haven't you all been warned...." He was saying but I didn't wait to listen to the rest as I was already on my heels

He ran after me, and also raised an alarm so that the others could Chase after me too

After about thirty minutes of running, I was sure they had lost me, so I stopped to rest under a tree

"Hm! You really are good at running huh?" Someone said beside me

And I jumped backwards clenching on my chest with my left hand, while my right hand was stretched out with my claws pointed out, ready for attack

I raised my head and I was shocked to see who it was

"Bryan!" I exclaimed and he smiled

"It's been a long while" he said and I nodded

"What are you doing here? How did...." I was saying but he cut me off

"I got in here as a rogue, but with the help of the Luna, I became a member of the Pack" he responded and I cocked my right eyebrow, a ray of hope shined in my heart, the Luna could help me also, since she knew who I was

Jake had also banned Bryan from the pack, because he suspected that I was cheating on him with the guy

Bryan was my childhood bestie, though he always had issues with Jake, these two never agreed on anything

"So...What are you doing here?" He said pulling my attention back to him

"Hh! I was banned from the pack and denounced Luna, After walking around in the woods, I found myself here" I explained and smiled bitterly

"Banned? Jake Banned you? The nerve of that bastard...why?" He asked, I could feel the anger in his voice

"It's a long story Bryan, don't want to talk about it now" I responded and he nodded without pressing further

"It's okay if you don't want to talk about it, but he really needs a brain check, it's obvious he has shit in place of one, anyway you're safe here, this pack is for everyone" he said and I chuckled lowly

"Come on! I'll take you to my home, it's really late for you to walk out here all alone, considering the fact that you're a rogue, it wouldn't be safe" he said and I nodded in agreement

"That's true, thanks alot" If only he was the one destined to be mate then I wouldn't have had to go through all these, but the moon goddess knows best, I believe that there is a light at the end of the tunnel for me

"That's the lady!" Someone shouted from behind, and I was very sure it was some of the pack's guards

"Goodness! Why are they chasing after me?" Silly and stupid question to ask, but however, he understood me

"It seems they finally figured you're a rogue" he replied and I snapped my head towards his direction

"How did you know they mistaked me for a member of the pack?" I asked with creased brows

"Well, I was also at the border some minutes ago, and I saw all that happened, that's also how I knew you were here" he said

"Oh!" Was all I said

It was so stupid of us to stand there, asking and answering questions, when we were ought to run for our lives

"How did you get in here rogue?" One of them asked, they had caught up with me

"Isn't it obvious? He is her accomplise" Another one said, pointing at Bryan

"No he...." I wanted to defend him but, they had cuffed us already, and ordered for our silence

"The Luna is so soft hearted that she makes all rogues members of the pack, she has no idea what they do behind her back" Another one said and the rest nodded in agreement

They all just kept talking, while I was thinking of a way to get out of their captivity

"How in the world did all these rogues get in here?" A guard asked, as a large number of wolves were making a circle around us

They're here to rescue their friends of course, what else?" Another answered and I just shook my head, my ill luck at it again

We were out numbered as we were just Seven all together, five guards, Bryan and I

They all wolfed out, ready to fight while I just stood there, depending on them for safety

A fierce fight broke out between both parties, many rogues were killed, and some of the guards too

"Hop on my back" Bryan mind linked as he ran towards me, and I didn't think twice before doing it

He ran as fast as possible, but the rouges didn't seem like they were ready to back down

It was clear to me now that I was the one they wanted

The next time I looked back, one of them was back in human form and was pointing an arrow at me

I could tell it was coated with silver, as it was was radiating even though the day was dark

He shot the arrow at me, and I knew it was my end

I still wondered why they were after my life

Maybe it was the doings of Jake and Clarissa, so I thought

I felt a hug behind me, as I landed on the ground

It was Bryan, he took the shot for me

"Holy shit! Bryan!" I exclaimed, as he was bleeding from the mouth

I knew there was nothing I or anyone could do

Once a werewolf is bleeding from the mouth, death is inevitable for them

He died on the spot, and all I could do was shed tears, he didn't deserve to be killed, I was such a bad gem, Jake could be right you know? Maybe I had no place on earth, maybe it would be better if I just died

I performed the last rite given to a dead wolf, and made to move

The rogues weren't chasing after us any longer, but I had to find a place to spend the night, this bushy area was definitely not an option

I walked through a long lonely dark path, not knowing where I was or headed, until I saw a building

It wasn't abandoned obviously, as lights were luminating in the environment

I got closer, and I heard loud music playing from the inside. It was a bar

"Is it possible to sleep In a bar? Well, I don't think I have a choice right now" I said to myself and walked in

Surprisingly, everyone in there were humans, except for the bartenders

I dipped my hand into my luggage, to see if I had any money on me

My luggage was a bit small and portable, so it was still on me

Luckily I did have some money, so I ordered for a shot

I needed to calm my nerves, after all the running I had partaken in the last few days

"Hey girl, guess the latest gossip in town" A lady, in her mid twenties said to the other one sitting beside me

"What is it?" She asked eagerly

"Sonia is devastated, because....." She started, then paused, gauging her friend's reaction before she continued

"Why? Why? Why?" The lady asked

"Because she discovered that, her husband Kyle, has been cheating on her with her best friend" She continued

"Oh my goodness! Poor Sonia. Is she okay?" The second lady asked, while I sat there, listening to their conversation

"Wait! Listen to the whole story first, before asking about her well being" this lady sure loved gossips

"To make the situation even more unbearable, neither Kyle nor her bestfriend felt remorseful for their actions" she continued

I didn't even notice that I was already shedding tears, the memory of why I was at the bar came rushing back and I cried more

Soon, everything became blurry, and I couldn't listen to the rest of the story

I was drunk, that I'm sure of, the last thing I remembered that night, was someone lifting me up and after some time undressed me
