Chapter 1
Yell here, yelp there, yelp here all over the court. Everyone is cheering on the boys' basketball team. The sports festival is currently ongoing, with different schools competing.
"Go my boys! You can do it! There's still plenty of time. You can do it!"
I covered my ears due to the loudness of the person screaming next to me on my left. Her name is Valorie Esperanza, but we call her Val. She's the loudest in our group.
"Can you put some tape on that mouth? I've been deaf for a while now," said the person on my right. Tyra Galeo is the smart and stylish one in our group.
"What are you guys doing? Join me in supporting our boys. I've been here for a while now, you've been shouting and you're just being quiet," Val said as she patted Shiela next to her. "You should shout too, shout Kyler's name."
"My throat hurts," said Shiela, my childhood friend. This is the only thing we always get along with, even as we grow up. I can say she has everything. Good luck to her family. She gets everything she wants; she's the sassy one.
"Kennedy, pass it to Kyler quickly!" Val shouted again. I glanced at the person surrounded by others as he held the ball. It was Kennedy Jackson, tall, handsome, and charming. When he smiles at you, you can't help but fall for him, but he already has a girlfriend.
Kennedy found a way to pass the ball to Troy Carson, who was also tall, handsome, and attractive. He is known for his humility and kindness, but you'd better hide when he gets angry.
"Kyler!" Kennedy shouted as he passed the ball to Kyler. We all stood up, holding our breath. Kyler threw the ball, unsure if it would go in. Then, he shot! Three points! We all screamed in excitement.
That's Kyler Walton, just like Kennedy and Troy, he is tall, handsome, and strong. He's known for his lion-hearted nature and is the MVP.
"Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh, my loves!" Sheila shouted happily, even giving Kyler a flying kiss. I just smiled, though I felt jealous when Kyler also blew a flying kiss.
"I just sat down and let my friends and other people scream. I don't need to see anymore because I know that they have won. Well who am I? By the way, I'm Mikayla Sanders. I can say that I'm the quiet one in the barracks, shy, sensitive. Yes, I'm sensitive, yes, I can get hurt easily. My family is not perfect unlike my friends. My dad passed away when I was in grade 6, my mom? I don't know where she is, she left us before daddy died and I can't help but feel angry with her. My only companion in life now is my older brother, my father's sister Aunt Fe, and her two children. I'm Mikayla who secretly loves Kyler for almost 1 year.
But how did our friendship begin? It's like this, in the first year of high school, it started because of food, a very shallow reason. Because of the food that was left in the canteen, we fought over it. No one really lost until there was trouble, well, I shouldn't feel sorry for that. Shiela got into a fight so she had no choice but to back me up until we went to the guidance office. We were very upset until we suddenly laughed at what happened, then it was settled. That's all."
Congratulations! Oh, I told you that you would win. It's just about trust, and one more thing, no one has ever defeated you," Val said after we left the court. We encountered many people who greeted the guys with us, who are varsity, so they're definitely well-known here in the school. "So where do you want to go? It's still early, maybe you want to eat first?" Kyler asked, putting his arm around me. I didn't show that I was thrilled, but the thrill I felt disappeared when he put his arm around Shiela as well, so she was between us. I just smiled and removed his hand. I didn't want to disturb them, so I walked with Troy. "You guys are really good on the court," I praised Troy. "Shouldn't we be?" he joked. "But it's true," I said. "Can we eat?" Val suggested. "You should treat us, the winners." "Of course, let's go eat. My treat," Kyler said. I looked at him but quickly looked away because he was still holding Shiela's arm. "Let's go!" "Someone's treating us!" my friends exclaimed happily.
Val pulled me close to him, with Shiela also being drawn in. "I'll tell you something later," he whispered to us.
"What is it this time, about that guy again?" Tyra inquired.
"Never mind," Val replied with a grin.
I simply smiled and listened to what Val had to say.
Once again, I am Mikayla, and our story begins.
"Mike!"
Someone called my name, and I turned around, holding my head which was aching from the sudden awakening.
"Brother, stop calling me Mikay," I complained as my good brother, Marc Angelo Alarcon, entered the room.
Curious about why his surname is different? Well, he uses our dad's surname, while I use our mom's surname, because I'm a girl, so I use my mom's. That's what they told me, anyway. I'm not entirely sure why.
"Mikey, what time is it? Do you want me to leave without you?" he asked, sounding irritated.
I glanced at the wall clock.
Oh no!
"Just give me 5 minutes!" I exclaimed and hurried into the bathroom. Why did I oversleep? I had set an alarm!
"Hurry up!" brother shouted from downstairs.
"One moment, almost ready!" I grabbed my things hastily.
Restlessly waiting at the door was my brother. It would be my fault if we were late for the wedding. I rushed down the stairs and approached him.
"Hey, you haven't had breakfast yet!" Aunt Fe interjected.
"I'm off to school. Bye," I said and kissed him on the cheek.
"Be careful!" He exclaimed.
"This is the third time, Mikayla. We'll be late because of you," our cousin Brother Froylan scolded. He's Aunt Fe's youngest son, the same age as my brother, but his sister lives in another country.
"Sorry, this is the last time," I replied with a smile, and hopped into the car. My brother will be taking our things today. Aunt Fe bought him one because that's what Dad promised him for college. "I told you to go ahead. I can handle myself. I'm in my fourth year of high school."
"So what?" they both chimed in simultaneously.
"Mikay, even if you're in college, we still need to accompany and take care of you. I promised Dad I'd look after you, protect you," my brother insisted. I chose to stay silent and gaze outside.
"We're here," my brother announced.
I bid them goodbye, waiting for them to leave before entering. I made my way to the garden, where my friends were waiting for me.
"Good morning, Mikayla," my schoolmates greeted me. They knew me, as well as Sheila, our friend, and Kyler, the one they all admire.
Speaking of Kyler! I didn't expect him to be standing right next to me.
"Good morning, Kayla," he greeted warmly, sliding his arm around my shoulders. Only he calls me Kayla. "Just got here too?" I inquire, subtly adjusting to his touch, despite my reluctance when Shiela is present. "Yeah, I stayed up late, feeling pretty tired," he replied with a yawn. I couldn't help but notice how effortlessly handsome he looked, every outfit suiting him perfectly, almost like a celebrity. My feelings for him deepen each time. "Good morning, guys!" Kyle chimed in cheerfully, breaking the embrace. I couldn't help feeling a pang of jealousy as Shiela leaned on his shoulder, playfully pinching his cheek. They seemed closer than us. "Are you two really just friends?" Val asked, prompting a laugh from Kyle. "Of course, she's like a sister to me," he reassured. I noticed Shiela's frown. "Just that?" Tyra questioned. Kyle's expression turned serious. "Yeah, is there something else? Don't overthink it," he urged. Could it be that he doesn't like Shiela?
"Freaking hell!" Ken was so stingy that we turned to him, catching him off guard as he glanced at his phone.
"Watch your language, Kennedy! What's up with you?" Troy queried.
"Nothing, we've got final exams next week," he replied, displaying the school's announcement.
"Damn Ken, you'd think being cheap wouldn't be such a big deal," Tyra muttered bitterly.
"It's a big deal for me, I don't know what to do. I don't listen in class, I don't take notes."
"Same here, so you're not alone," Val added.
As the bell rang, they got up, and we bid farewell to the three boys since they were in a different section.
"Can I crash at your place later?" Shiela asked me as we walked towards our classroom.
"Sure," I agreed. "Did something happen again?" I inquired.
"Mom and I had a fight," she sighed. "I want to buy something, a newly released bag. It's so beautiful, but she doesn't want me to get it," she explained.
I closed my eyes. "Shiela, not everything you want can be bought, maybe your mommy can't afford the price," I said. It's always like this because when he sleeps with us, he and his mommy are sure to fight, and the only reason they fight is the unsatisfied wishes of this friend of mine.
I always tell Shiela not to spend too much, especially if she won't use it, but she is stubborn. If she wants something, she has to get it immediately; otherwise, she won't talk to you or she'll get angry with you.
"My parents have a lot of money, hello, they can afford that," she says.
"Don't talk, it won't make you lose," Val whispered to me.
I just took a deep breath and kept quiet. Val is right; if I say anything more, the conversation will definitely not be over, it will not be defeated.
"Ms. Arevalo!" Ma'am Ysay mentioned Shiela's last name seriously. I signaled Val to wake up Shiela.
Shiela stretched and yawned more. She straightened up when she saw Ma'am Ysay in her carapace now.
"If you intend to sleep, I hope you don't come in!" she wheezed.
"I'm sorry, ma'am, I just stayed up."
"Woke up to chat," Val said loudly. That's why our classmates teased Shiela.
"Who are you chatting with, Shiela?" one of our classmates asked.
"Don't be nosy, of course it's mine," my friend said with a smile.
Wait... couldn't she be chatting with Kyler? Because Kyler said earlier that she stayed up late... so it means she's the one she's chatting with?
"Stop it! Stop it!" our teacher exclaimed loudly. "Are you still proud that you stayed up late because of your chat? If I were you, I would think about having work the next day, so I would go to bed early! Try to sleep again, minus points for me, you're flirting," Ma'am Ysay said, annoyed.
It's hard to say if the teacher is bitter or has a crush. However, the teacher's remarks about not thinking about having a boyfriend and focusing on studies suggest they might be emphasizing the importance of academic commitment.
"We looked at each other as friends and shrugged at the same time," suggesting the characters are not taking the teacher's scolding too seriously.
"Don't get mad when I tell you," I said to Shiela, who was already lying on my bed. "He went straight to the house; he didn't come home to them. It's really good that he has clothes here."
"Don't worry, I won't be angry," she said while busy on her cellphone. I've been talking about this for a while now, I told him to negotiate and apologize to his mom.
He listens to what is said, but he does not follow it. He is really stubborn, but even so, I love him very much
"I stood next to him and peeked at his phone because he was smiling. 'Did you see Kyler's new post? He's so handsome,' he said excitedly, showing me the picture. I hadn't seen it yet because I hadn't opened it. 'Do you really like him?' I asked. He nodded. 'I'm already in love with him, and I think he likes me too, but he won't admit it,' he said, leaning on my shoulder. 'I'll do anything to get him, you know if I want something, I get it,' he added.
He straightened up and looked at me. 'Promise me you won't fall in love with him,' he told me. I was speechless for a moment and then burst out laughing. 'What are you saying? I can't fall in love with him. I'm just a friend,' I whispered.
'It should stay that way,' he said. 'When you become a rival to a man, forget about it.'
'Are you serious?' I asked. 'I'm serious, Mikayla,' he replied. I swallowed."
"It's a very serious situation. The only concern is that she might prioritize her relationship with the man over our friendship. Alright, for his sake, I'll try to let go of my feelings for Kyler. I don't want to ruin my friendship with Shiela. I value our years of friendship and don't want to lose it.
I don't hold out hope for Kyler either, so I'll just let him be with Shiela.
To Be Continued..."
Chapter 2
"There, drink more! Now you seem like you don't know because of the hangover. You shouldn't be drinking because you're a varsity player." Shaking my head, I told my brother and cousin, "Mikay, water please, it's cold." My brother ordered with his eyes closed, "Water too," said Brother Froilan. I gave them a hard time and went to the kitchen. Aunt wasn't there, so they couldn't be preached to.
"Don't you have school?" I asked them and handed over the water.
"We don't have class today," Brother Marc said, "Practice later," Brother Froilan said indifferently.
I looked at my phone because someone was calling.
"Who's Kyler?" My brother asked when he saw the caller's name on my phone lying on the table.
I immediately took it. "My friend," I said.
"Just friends?" Brother Froilan asked.
"Yes," I said and left them.
Why is Kyler calling?
"Hello?" I answered.
"Hey, Kayla, good morning."
It's nice to hear his voice.
"Kayla? Oh yes, why did you call me?"
Person 1: "I said good morning."
Person 2: "Oww yes, good morning too." I said smiling. "Do you have time now?"
Person 1: "Why? I want to invite you, I'd like to spoil you. Where?"
Person 2: "It's just at the mall, is that all right?"
Person 1: "Alright." I immediately agreed, but I remembered what I said last night that I would forget my feelings and avoid me. I was about to decline, but he spoke.
Person 2: "That's what you said, let's meet at the friends' meeting place, or you want me to fetch you?"
Person 1: "H-ha, not anymore. Just there at the meeting point." I said. I don't want him to come here; I know Brother, they might get angry.
Brother Marc: "Are you leaving?" Brother Marc asked when he saw me dressed.
Person 1: "Yes, I'm just going to buy something."
Brother Marc: "Are you really just going to buy or are you going to meet?" He said seriously.
Person 1: "Brother, I'm just going to buy something, relax. My friend is with me."
Brother Marc: "Kyler?" I nodded slowly.
Person 1: "Is he the only one?"
Person 2: "We have another girl with us, Val." I lie just to be allowed.
Brother Marc just nodded and entered his room. I hurried to leave. I have arrived at the meeting place of the gang, where is it? Only at a fast food. We like to hang out. I haven't even gotten out of the taxi when I see Kyler.
Sitting on a motorcycle, is that his?
He stood up when he saw me come down. My heart beat faster when he smiled at me. There was a part of me that wanted to run up to him and hug him, but I remembered what Shiela said, and Kyler is not my boyfriend.
"Is that yours?" I smelled the motor.
"Yeah. When have you ever had something like that?"
"It's been a long time, I just don't use it."
"I didn't know you knew how to drive a motorcycle." I also know how to drive a car," he said. "Why did you invite me? Why not Shiela?"
"I like you," he said that I stopped.
What did he say?
"You're the one I want to invite, of course, I don't want you to sulk with me. Maybe you mean Shiela is always with me. Next time I'll invite Tyra and Val."
Oww... it's like that. I thought it was something.
"Wait... don't tell me you too are thinking something about me and Shiela?" I shook my head.
"We're just friends, that's all," he said, as I was even surprised by Soya, who himself put the helmet on my head and helped me ride.
"Friends? Is that really all he can give Shiela? My friend will be hurt."
I grabbed Kyler's shoulder, and he gasped. He took my hand and placed it on his waist. "It's safer if you hold it there," he said.
I was taken aback as he started the motor, causing me to hug him tightly. I couldn't comprehend my own feelings anymore.
I heard a loud heartbeat. Was it mine or his?
"Mikayla, don't get your hopes up! What you hear is only your heartbeat."
Unsure of our destination, I soon realized we were at the mall when he parked his motorcycle in the lot. "Are you planning to buy something here?" I asked.
He nodded, helping me off the bike. "My mom and I have a party to attend. I need to get some formal attire. I'm not good at picking formal clothes. You know me, my interests lie elsewhere," he explained. "I invited you because I know you are good at choosing clothes."
"Hey!" I raised my hand. "Tyra is the stylish one, she's the good one. Not me," I said.
"Is that so? Well, you're with me now, maybe you know too, right? Let's go," he said and pulled me, as if everything was in slow motion. We are like a couple because we are holding hands.
I was only looking at our hands, so I didn't expect my face to hit the wall! Goodness!!!!
"Ouch!" I moaned.
"Hey, are you okay?" Kyler asked, so I looked at him while stroking my forehead. There was concern on his face. "Where were you looking that you didn't notice the wall?"
'In our hands!' That's what I was going to say, but I didn't say anything. I cried because of the pain. This is what I don't like; I cry when I am hurt physically and emotionally. I stopped crying because it was embarrassing for Kyler, but when I closed my eyes, tears fell from my eyes.
"Hey, hey. Does it hurt too much?" He asked as he stroked my forehead. "Because it's you! You don't look at what you're passing by."
I cried even more because he scolded me. It's okay, but this is who I really am.
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry. You might think I'm angry," he said as he wiped my tears, and I suddenly stopped. I shook my head and removed Kyler's hand. "I'm fine, let's go," I said, attempting to smile. My forehead hurt, but it gradually faded away.
Kyler allowed me to find something formal for him to wear. I chose something I knew would suit him. I smiled when I found a matching pair of suit pants and a suit jacket in black and white. It was perfect for him.
"Kyler," I called, and he sat there, looking at me. "Put it on, come on," I urged, pulling him. I handed him my choice and guided him into the dressing room. I continued to look around for something better, but when he emerged wearing what I had picked, my jaw dropped. His elegance shone through even more in the outfit. The formal suit suited him perfectly; my choice was spot on, as I have a keen eye for him.
I glanced back at him, still staring, and closed my eyes when he lightly flicked my nose. "You idiot, maybe you're falling in love with me," he joked.
You know it's perfect! Gosh! You're so handsome, but you know you'd better get a haircut, your hair is quite long." I said, "Okay, I'm going to get a haircut. So it's okay? Because this is what I'm going to get."
"Yes, buy that, come on. Get dressed," I said.
While waiting, I could hear whispers; almost every customer was talking about Kyler. He said he can be an actor, a model. But knowing Kyler, he doesn't want to be an actor or anything like that. Maybe you can be a basketball player.
"That's Kyler Walton, isn't he the son of Governor Darcy Walton?"
"Yes, he is!"
Oh yes! Why did I forget? He is also known because he is the son of the Governor here in our area. That's what I forgot to say about him.
"Let's go," he said. I didn't notice that he had finished dressing and paying.
I moved a bit away from Kyler because I was looking at him. I'm fine because it's like I'm just an assistant. Because I.
"I didn't fix it properly earlier," he said. He stopped and frowned when he turned to me. He pulled me close and put his arm around me. "Why are you walking away?" he asked. I was about to remove his hand, but he raised an eyebrow at me, so I let it go.
"Are you alright?" Kyler asked after cutting him off. I gave a thumbs up. "Thank you for coming, since you came with me I will feed you."
"Oh, I'm really hungry."
"Where do you want to eat?"
"Anywhere."
"Come, I'll take you where mommy and I often eat," he said. I just followed him. We went to an Italian restaurant. "This is my favorite restaurant," he said. With this, we went to the farthest table. "And this is my favorite spot," he said and ordered this for us to eat. "You know I have a promise to myself?"
"What is that?"
"That whichever girl I bring here is the one I will love and marry."
I blinked, holding my breath.
He laughed and playfully pinched my nose, which is something he enjoys doing. "Just kidding," he reassured me. Despite his playful nature, he can be quite annoying at times. I asked if he had brought anyone else along, to which he replied, "No, just you." I inquired about the restaurant he was taking Shiela to, and he simply nodded in response, refusing to provide any additional information. Feeling the need to introduce Shiela to him, I insisted, "You should bring Shiela here; she would definitely enjoy it." His only reply was an indifferent "Okay." Frustrated, I remarked, "He seems happier with her than with me," to which he merely nodded in agreement, refusing to engage in any conversation. I then approached Val in the school garden and inquired, "What's going on?" Noticing the curious looks from others, I sensed that people were discussing something related to me. Tyra asked, "Haven't you seen it?" before Val handed me his cell phone. My eyes widened as I saw a picture of Kyler and me at the mall, captured while he had his arm around me and during our meal together.
I was amazed at the caption I read. "Kyler Walton is not single anymore. Sorry girls the son of Governor Darcy is already taken."
Seriously?!
I read the name of the person who posted, it's a poser when I opened his profile. I never thought it would go viral. How fast is the news?!
"Explain." Tyra said.
"I just accompanied him to the mall, that's it. He just hung out, I accompanied him as a friend, and he just likes to hug. It's not just me that he hugs, right? You too, it's bad Marites what? It's making an issue." I said. They just looked and didn't speak. "Come on girls, I'm telling the truth."
Suddenly they laughed.
"What are you, we know what. I don't know about people today. You even beat the artist." Val promised.
"Keep frowning." Tyra said looking behind me. It was Shiela approaching us. The aura looks different. Good heavens! Maybe because of the news that spread.
"Sheila." I said.
He just looked at me sadly.
I know why.
"Shiela, those pictures didn't mean anything, Kyler just made me feel bad. That's all," I explained.
"Why did you come with me? Well, I'm here," his voice was tinged with annoyance.
"Wow, Shiela, you're not a porker when you're close to him, it's just you. Kyler and I are friends too, of course, after Mikayla, Kyler will also cheer us on. Don't be," Val said painfully.
"I'm just sulking at Mikayla. I wish you had told me that Kyler came with you so I could go with you, right? I wish I hadn't left you. I would have stayed at your house first so I could be with you and Kyler, then you're his girlfriend now, viral."
I held my breath. I sat next to him and held his arm.
"I'm sorry," I apologized like a child. "The next time he asks me out, I'll tell you, and I'll tell him to call you, not me," I said. It smiled. "Promise that, huh?"
I nodded. "Of course."
I saw Val shake his head.
"Okay, thank you! I'm really your best friend," he said and hugged me. "Wait here, I'm just going to meet the boys," he said and left us.
I really need to stay away. Everyone needs to talk about them and Shiela, not the two of us. For my friend, I will make a way for them to be.

Chapter 3
"What does this mean, Mikay?" My brother's welcome question when I came home from school.
I know what he's talking about.
"Believe me brother, we are not in a relationship."
"Did you two just go out? I thought there were others with you?"
I swallowed.
"There was someone else with us, that time because we walked ahead, he was behind with us. I don't know about the marites, it's just something."
"Why is he on your arm?"
"He always does that to us brother, he's my close friend, okay, and I'm not the only one he's supporting, and another brother Shiela is in love with him, he's only with Shiela.
"Is it really just Shiela? Or maybe you are also in love with that man?" Brother Froilan asked, just popping up behind me "I want to meet your friends, why don't you bring them here?"
What the!
"Alright." I said. But I don't want to invite them, these two are sure to shake them. Maybe something to say.
"We have something to talk about Mikay, don't we." Brother told me seriously.
I nodded. "I'm not allowed to fall in love until I graduate high school." I said. He has told me that many times but nothing, that I am in love. I just keep it a secret. "But now that I'm graduating, can I?" I asked with a smile.
"If possible, don't do it." He said. that's why I snorted. "I don't want to hurt you."
"But isn't being hurt part of love?" I asked. "Well, you're not the only one who has experienced being hurt, you and Brother Froilan are the ones who are hurting. Women are different, aren't they?"
"What are you talking about?" Brother Froilan scolded me, "Stick to one, this is your sister, don't blame me." I simply glared at him.
"I don't have many women," Brother said.
"Just how many?" I inquired.
"Five per day?" he replied.
"Wow! That's not a small number!" I exclaimed. My brother chuckled, "But Mikay, do you plan to attend the same college as us?"
"I don't want to be in the same school as you guys," I retorted.
"What did you say?" they both asked simultaneously.
I gestured with a peace sign, "Just kidding, well, wherever my friends go, I'll be there."
"Yeah, you're choosing your friends over us," my brother's voice sounded downcast.
I stood and hugged him from behind, explaining, "Brother, it's not like that. I want to be with my friends because we don't want to be apart."
"Fine," he replied swiftly. I smiled, "I love you, brother. I love you, Brother Froilan," I said cheerfully and headed to the garden. "Aunt Fe!" I called out while helping her arrange the flowers.
"Oh? Is everything okay?" she asked.
I embraced her and said, "Nothing, I just wanted to thank you." I didn't understand what was happening to me.
"Oh dear, what do you need?" she asked in return.
"Oh, nothing, Auntie," I said, assisting her with her tasks. "It's late afternoon, Auntie, and you're still here in the garden. It's getting dark."
"Are you in love?" she asked, brushing off my previous comment.
I shook my head quickly. "It's not." It's a good thing that he doesn't like social media so he doesn't know that I went viral, which most people talked about, because when he finds out, it's sure to be explosive again.
"Mikay! Shiela is calling!" Brother Marc shouted from inside.
"Just a moment, auntie," I said and ran inside. "Hello Shie," I answered.
"Mikayla, can you come now?" She asked. "Why?"
"Can you join me in the pool?"
Kennedy will definitely be there. Because Kyler is playing there now.
"What are we going to do there?"
"I'm just bringing their food. I passed by a restaurant here and I tried their delicious food, so I ordered. Let's go, please," she insisted.
"Okay then. I'll see you there," I said. I changed my clothes first and bid farewell to my brother and aunt.
I know she just wants to be with Kyler. But I will use this opportunity to get closer to them.
"I like her, so I want to court her."
"Who?" I asked Troy.
"Mikayla."
Because of the name he mentioned, I missed the shot, so instead of winning, Kennedy will have to help me. We are playing billiards today in Ken's billiard room, and we are in a private room because there are many people playing downstairs.
"You like her?" I asked Troy. "Since when did you like her?"
Ken asked, "What if he rejects you?" here.
"I won't give up until he responds."
Ken continued, "Why do people still think she's Kyler's girlfriend?"
"That rumor will die down, and won't you clarify on social media that you're not?"
"Yeah," I remained silent.
"Why did you go out just the two of you if you've already been linked?" Ken inquired.
"Can't we hang out as friends? Besides, I went out with Shiela before, and nothing like this happened, nothing went viral."
"But who will you choose, Shiela or Mikayla?" Ken pressed.
I raised an eyebrow at Ken. "You're asking me? I see Shiela as a sister and a friend," I replied truthfully. "The same goes for Kayla," I added, a lie slipping out.
"Perhaps we won't be competing for the same girl, right, Kyler?" Troy's sudden remark stunned me. I sat on the stool, gazing at him. "Of course not," I responded, devoid of emotion. "I wouldn't want to ruin our friendship over a girl," I almost choked up. "But if it comes to that and we are vying for the same woman, and I choose you, our bond won't shatter. I'll accept defeat. I hope you will too," I told Troy earnestly.
Troy smirked. "Of course," he agreed.
I fist-bumped him.
"It seems that at any moment you will really fight over the same woman." Ken said with a laugh. "We should have rules as friends. Don't fall in love with your girl friend. No one should fall in love with a friend." It said. "But it's too late, the other one has already fallen." He said and pointed to Troy.
'He's not the only one' my mind screamed.
We turned our attention to the door that opened. It's Shiela and Kayla follows her "Hey boys! We brought some food." Shiela said. It approached me, I just nodded and looked back at Kayla who was met by Troy.
I immediately looked away.
"You know it's delicious. Taste it." Shiela said and was about to taste me but I took the spoon from her.
"Let me." I said smiling.
I heard Kayla's laugh but I tried not to look at her. Troy makes her laugh. I turned my back on them because out of the corner of my eyes I could see
"I'm fine."
"Are you sure? Because you were quiet earlier and then you left suddenly, I thought you were going home but you just went here." This is it.
"Are they still there?"
"Yes, still playing."
"Is Kayla?"
"Also, I'll just say goodbye to you. I'm going home."
"Are you with Kayla?"
"He can't be left, he's already enjoying playing." It said.
I stood up. "I'll take you outside." I said that's why he smiled.
I waited for him to board before going with my companions. Ken and Troy were still playing while Kayla just sat there watching them. I walked over to him and sat on the stool next to him.
"Did you take Shiela outside?" It asked but the eyes were fixed on the two.
"Yes." I answered sparingly.
"You know we're hungry, after all you two are just sitting there, maybe you can buy us something to eat? It's already 7pm, let's have dinner here." Ken said "You can make a delivery. You can order us." I said.
"There's a restaurant near there, it's already there. Rather than deliver, I'll have to pay the delivery fee. Go ahead, you two have bought it. Our game is already good."
"Do you want?" I asked Kayla and then she looked at me.
"I-I can I nodded and stood up. I extended my hand to Ken. "Money to buy."
"You're free, I know you have a lot of money."
I threw a billiard ball at him and he caught it. "I thought you were free."
"Come on, you might get stoned here." Kayla said and pushed me out.
Before I was feeling jealous and sad but now that I'm with Kayla it's changed to joy. Honestly, when I go out, I want her with me, but every time I call her, Shiela appears in front of me. Where I was, he was there, I don't know if it was just a coincidence.
"Did you and Shiela have a thorough talk?" Kayla asked as we walked.
I shook my head.
"Really? I thought he talked to you, maybe he was just shy to say it."
"Which? "Don't you feel it?"
"That he likes me?"
It nodded.
"I know, I've been feeling it for a long time."
"But what? What can you say?"
"I can't repay the way he feels for me." I said. I can't feel anything for Shiela, I really only consider her a friend.
"Oh...why don't you give her a chance Kyler? Shiela is nice, she's beautiful. What else are you looking for? Who do you want?"
You "I do not want anything." My answer.
"You and Shiela are good, if I were you I would date her."
I closed my eyes. Why is he pushing Shiela to me?
"Good morning Kyler, wake up." Someone whispered to me that's why I woke up. I woke up to see who it was. "What are you doing here Shiela? Why are you here in my room?" I will ask.
"I let him in, he said he was your girlfriend so I told him to come here and wake him up. It's you, a girl is still picking you up." Said mommy peeking at the door.
"What?!" I said annoyed. "You know I don't let anyone in my room mommy. Especially women."
"She's no different, isn't she your girlfriend, so it's okay for her to come in. Get up there because what time is it? I'll wait for you downstairs so we can have breakfast together." He said and left.
"What did you tell mommy?" I asked Shiela "I'm your girlfriend."
"Why did you say that?"
"That's where we're going too, aren't we?". Shiela said smiling.
"What?" I can't believe it.
"I like you Kyler, so from now on I'm going to date you. Don't tell your mom that we're not together yet. She's happy when I say I'm your girlfriend, so she'll be sad when you say we're not." This is it. "Take a shower and get dressed, we'll go to school together." He said and left my room.
I caught my senses. I didn't expect Shiela to do this. You really came to my house and introduced yourself as my girlfriend?
I was not in the mood to sit next to Shiela at the table, I caught them talking happily with my mommy.
"Where's dad?" I asked.
"Leave early. Let's eat." This is it. "Iha eat eat eat." It served Shiela. "As for you, Kyler, why didn't you introduce Shiela right away, do you know that I thought your girlfriend was the girl with you in your viral picture. I'm waiting for you to introduce her to me, but she's just your friend."
"Mom-."
"I want this Shiela for you. She came here and and introduced herself without hesitation. She's brave huh."
"Mom you kn-."
"Oh excuse me, someone is calling." Mommy said, I looked at her cellphone, someone was calling. "Just keep eating okay. Don't wait for me."
"Are you angry Kyler?" Shiela asked me.
"Just eat." Not in the mood I said. After eating, we didn't say goodbye to mommy, she seemed to be busy talking, that's why we left.
"Don't do it again Shiela."
"Which one?"
"Don't ever enter my room without permission. I really don't want anyone else entering my room, and tell me when you come here."
"I'm sorry earlier, but okay. I'll text you if I go to your place." She said. "Mikayla is calling." He said looking at my phone. It was on silent so I didn't hear it, I immediately took it and answered.
"Kayla." I said softly. My mood suddenly changed "Are you with Shiela?" This is a question.
I thought about what to say.
"Yeah."
I heard his sigh.
"She told me that we're together. I've been waiting here in the waiting room for a while when we were supposed to meet. I'll just wait for the car."
"Wait..if you want we'll let you through. Where is that waiting shed?" I asked. He refused at first but I insisted. I begged our family driver to pick him up.
"Kayla is waiting for you." I said.
"Oh my gosh! It's true! I forgot her. You're the only thing running through my mind." It said with a giggle. What the?! "I wish you had just told him to commute, I don't want anyone to disturb our moment, right?"
Are they really friends?
I sat properly when I saw Kayla. He glanced at us and smiled.
"Mikayla you're in front." Shiela said here. I was about to get down because I was going to sit in the front.
Kayla smiled "Alright." She opened the door in front and sat down.
"I'm sorry Mikayla if I forgot you. We had a conversation, I forgot."
"That's not there." Kayla answered.
I can see him from the side mirror. I don't know if I saw correctly that there was sadness in his eyes.
