"Miss, the Young Master asked you to come to the living room," a maid said to a shabbily dressed woman.
The woman who was washing the dishes turned around. Her hair was messy, her face looked tired.
"Now?" the woman asked.
"Yes, Miss," the maid replied with a stiff expression and lowered her head.
Helena Helena looked surprised, it was unusual for her husband to call her when his housework was not finished. However, because it was an order, Helena put the plate in her hands in the sink and dried her hands. Her chest was beating erratically, making Helena feel uncomfortable.
When they arrived in the living room, everyone was already gathered. Helena was surprised but her attention was drawn to her husband's flat expression.
"What did you do yesterday?" Jimmy Frazie's cold voice pierced Helena who did not understand anything.
Before Helenaa could ask what he meant, a brown folder flew through the air and landed roughly on Helena's face and its contents scattered.
"Explain that!" Jimmy looked angry, but Helena's attention was diverted to some photos under her feet.
Her mouth gaped wide open with both of her eyes perfectly round, shocked to see the photo. Isn't that him? But, how could Helena sleep with another man?"
"Why are you silent, damn it?"
Helena screamed when Jimmy pulled her long black hair tightly, making her face immediately look up.
"I... it hurts," Helena groaned but Jimmy gripped her hair even tighter.
"That's obvious, damn it! How could you betray me secretly by sleeping with another man, huh?" Jimmy snapped angrily. The man's eyes even turned red.
"I don't know who that man is. I..."
"Don't lie!" said another woman in the room. "I saw you rush out yesterday," the woman continued.
"That-"
"Explain!" Jimmy snapped while gripping Helena's hair in pain.
Helena almost cried, this was the first time she saw Jimmy so angry.
"That's not even the first time. Bro, that woman has betrayed you. Are you going to just keep quiet while she cheats freely?"
Helena's gaze fell on her brother-in-law who smiled smugly insulting her.
"That's right, Jimmy. At first, mom felt strange because the woman left secretly and came back with so many things," said Helena's mother-in-law.
Helena didn't believe everything they said. Even though they knew why Helena left.
"Jimmy, come on, let go of her hair, Helena looks in pain," said a woman who approached Jimmy and hugged his arm gently.
Helena's tears were already wetting her cheeks because her husband's action of pulling her hair until some of it was pulled out, was really painful. Even when Jimmy let go, Helena's head almost hit the floor.
Helena looked at the woman from the corner of her eye. Who was that woman? Why was she so affectionate with her husband, and no one even defended her at all?
"Come on, honey. Didn't we agree, hm? That woman was proven to be cheating, even daring to sleep with another man? If you defend her, it means you have no self-respect," the woman said.
Helena did not believe what the woman said.
"That's right, Brother Jimmy. That lowly woman is no longer worthy of you. You've been married for three years and still haven't conceived your child, Brother Jimmy. That's why this woman is looking for a man out there so she can get pregnant without your knowledge," said Helena's sister-in-law.
"What do you mean? I never had such thoughts," Helena defended herself.
"Shut up!" Jimmy's voice boomed in the big house.
Helena's chest felt very tight, it hurt so much to see her husband change like that and not even give her a chance to explain.
"You don't believe it, do you, Honey?" asked Helena hopefully with tears that continued to flow.
Jimmy just stared at her coldly then turned around and took something on the living room table then crouched down.
"Don't ever call me honey again. That's so disgusting," Jimmy said with a disgusted expression. "Sign this!"
Helena's attention was diverted to a piece of paper that Jimmy had just taken from another brown folder.
"Come on, hurry up!" Jimmy jerked Helena angrily who was stunned because she couldn't believe her husband would divorce her.
"What do you mean? Do you want to divorce me? Come on honey... this is a misunderstanding," Helena said still trying to defend herself and even holding Jimmy's hand but the man pushed it away roughly making Helena fall again.
Helena's tears could not be stopped, flooding her face which was no longer beautiful.
"Sign it quickly!" Jimmy jerked again when Helena was just silent mourning the fate of her household which had now ended.
When Helena was unable to move the pen on the paper, Jimmy's younger sister forced Helena to sign the divorce papers and immediately took the paper and secured it.
"Now go," Jimmy said firmly.
At that moment, lightning struck the sky, followed by a very loud thunder. Helena looked back at Jimmy but the man had already turned his back on her and was calmed by a woman who looked at Helena with a satisfied smile on her face.
Two men whom Helena recognized as houseguards approached her to drag her out of there. Helena could only surrender, her brain did not understand this situation at all. Before leaving the big house, Helena looked at them one by one who smiled disdainfully, satisfied, even condescendingly. Helena knew that they were all fake.
Heavy rain poured down on the earth with lightning and thunder that rumbled simultaneously. Helena walked in the rain with thin clothes and began to shiver then took shelter at a deserted bus stop.
"Are you going to marry that woman, Jimmy? Don't you know that woman has no background at all? She's just a lowly woman who has nothing. It will only be a burden for our family. " Helena closed her eyes remembering three years ago when her mother-in-law protested Jimmy's decision to marry Helena who didn't even have anything.
"You're just a lowly woman who shouldn't be here. Hurry up and wash all the dishes and clothes. Don't let even a little dust in this house."
"You're nothing more than a maid in this house. What would you do if it weren't for Brother Jimmy? What a disgrace. My friends are coming, you should never have shown yourself."
"I didn't know you married just to make your wife a maid."
Their laughter rang in Helena's ears as she cried. Three years after marrying Jimmy, a CEO in her family's company had never once made Helena look good in the eyes of the family. It was very painful but somehow Helena had survived this far. Wasn't Helena too stupid just because she loved Jimmy too much?
Helena's face lifted when someone stood in front of her and Helena's tears flowed again when she found out who came to her. Helena immediately hugged the person.
"How did you know I was there?" Helena asked, pulling the blanket given to her by the man who had picked her up at the bus stop.
A man looked at Helena who was sitting on the sofa and then gave her a glass of water.
"Auntie told me," the man replied.
Helena nodded.
"Auntie must have put spies in the house, huh?" Helena guessed.
"What were you thinking, Helena? Why did you stay just to get hurt?" the man was now angry, his face turning red.
Helena hesitated a little to turn her head. Hearing the man's heavy breathing, Helena knew that nothing could calm his anger.
"I'm fine, Brother Philip. I stayed there because everything was fine in the beginning," Helena said.
"That was in the beginning!" Philip snapped, completely unconvinced. "You know how angry I was, but I couldn't do anything. I was worried about you, but you... you..."
Helena immediately hugged Philip to calm her rising anger. Helena knew she shouldn't have done that to her older brother.
"I know, Brother Phil. I know what I did, so please stop," Helena begged, unable to hold back her tears. "I'm sorry," Helena said without moving from the man's embrace.
Philip finally calmed down and hugged Helena back tighter.
"You drive me crazy, Helena," Philip whispered right in Helena's ear.
Helena nodded, of course, she knew how much Philip loved her. But the man had to go to Jophi to take care of the family business that was having a lot of problems there so he had to leave Helena at Morphile with Aunt Serena, but Helena made everything chaotic by hiding her real identity and marrying Jimmy Frazie and then becoming a maid.
Letting go of the hug after a while, their gazes met. So many emotional feelings enveloped both of them, especially Philip until a strong urge made Philip suddenly kiss Helena.
The kiss was slow but then began to demand. Helena herself did not deny it because her thoughts and feelings were still chaotic. Philip's gentle actions made Helena fall in love but then she stopped the kiss and turned around.
"This is not right," Helena said in panic.
Philip was silent as if he had come to his senses.
"I'll change my clothes," Helena said then got up from her seat and went to her room to change.
What had Philip done? They were siblings.
Meanwhile, Helena sat and leaned against the closed door of her room.
"I must be crazy!" Helena cursed her actions because she was carried away by Philip's kiss. "Damn it!" she cursed.
There was a reason why Helena hid her true identity and married Jimmy but no one knew why Helena did that. Three years ago, Helena's life was destroyed, the happiness she had felt so far was gone. Both of her parents died tragically in an accident on the way home from a party then Philip was sent to Jophi. Although Philip and Helena were ten years apart in age, they were so close and grew up together. Just imagine, Helena who was happy with her family suddenly had her life changed overnight and was abandoned by Philip.
If Helena was honest, the feeling grew more than just brotherhood. Helena knew she shouldn't have loved Philip that much. Until three years ago, Helena met Jimmy and fell in love.
"If the rain has stopped, I'll go home to Aunt Serena's house first," Helena said when she met Philip in the dining room.
The man lived alone in a luxury apartment in an elite area.
"Okay. I happened to have contacted someone to pick you up after you eat," said Philip who was sitting in front of Helena.
Helena's attention was diverted to the dishes on the table.
"Because my cooking ingredients ran out, I didn't cook much. At least this is enough for you," the man said again.
Helena was stunned to see the food, her hunger made her unable to divert her attention from the food and finally, she ate.
Philip watched her silently. His gaze was so deep, full of love and affection. But then he turned his attention elsewhere when he realized that the person in front of him was Helena who had grown up with him for years.
That night Helena went to Serena's house, her aunt who was Helena's father's younger sister. Although she was allowed to stay at Philip's house, Helena couldn't help but stay close to the man. Something invisible always attracted Helena to Philip.
"Gosh. Look, who is this?" Her aunt's cold greeting made Helena just grin.
Serena took a deep breath.
"Come on. Come here," said the woman who was around fifty years old while stretching out her arms.
Helena immediately rushed into her aunt's embrace and cried again, letting out the remaining emotions that were inside her.
"You've survived this far, Helena. So, let's show them that you're not a lowly girl at all," said Serena while wiping the tears from Helena's face.
"What do you mean, Auntie?" asked Helena confusedly.
However, Serena smiled mysteriously which made Helena frown, feeling that something big was going to happen.
"Come on. You get some rest. Tomorrow night will be a spectacular show for you," said Serena happily which Helena couldn't catch at all.
There was no point in asking her aunt, Helena had to guess so she chose to enter her room that had been abandoned for three years. The large, brightly lit house remained unchanged despite the chaos.
Helena's steps stopped and she directed her gaze to the wall filled with frames of memories.
"Auntie can't change those memories," said Serena who approached Helena there.
Helena's attention was only focused on one frame containing a portrait of herself and Philip together. They looked harmonious as a woman and a man, not as siblings. Helena immediately dismissed the thought again.
"If I miss you, I will look at this frame," said Serena. "You are beautiful here with your natural smile. But that was one day before your parents' tragedy," the woman continued to remind her.
Then the two of them stared at each other in silence.
"There is one secret that you and Philip don't know, Hel," said Serena suddenly.
Helena looked at her aunt who was still staring at the family frame with longing.
"Secret? What is it?" asked Helena.
Instantly her heart beat fast. What secret is it? But Serena just kept quiet.
"You will find out soon," said Serena while touching her niece's arm and leaving Helena with a thousand questions in her mind.
What secret?
Helena didn't know that what her aunt said was about their company's anniversary celebration.
"You're beautiful," Serena praised when she saw Helena's appearance which looked so beautiful.
"But, Auntie, is this necessary?" Helena looked doubtful.
"Of course. Come on, let's go now." Serena refused to respond to Helena's doubts about her aunt's plan.
They went to the event venue which was held at a five-star hotel. The guests had started to arrive, even the media crew was waiting along the hotel yard.
Helena realized the commotion outside the car they were riding in, her forehead wrinkled deeply, feeling uncomfortable with it.
"Auntie," Helena whined like a child while looking at her aunt.
Serena didn't let Helena protest anymore and chose to answer the phone call on her cellphone so that Helena wouldn't convey her complaints.
The car they were riding in stopped in front of the hotel door with a long red carpet underneath it that reached the hotel lobby. On the right and left sides of the red carpet, reporters had been waiting while capturing the moments of every guest who came.
"Come on, we have to get off," Serena said without caring about Helena's discomfort.
Realizing that her complaint would not be responded to by her aunt, Helena had no choice but to obey and get out of the luxury car. The media crew immediately pointed their camera lenses at them, more precisely at Serena who was known as a successful businesswoman both abroad and at home.
Serena showed her graceful smile, greeted the media crew in a friendly manner, and held Helena's arm to walk with her. Although feeling uncomfortable, Helena obeyed and showed a small smile throughout walking on the red carpet without intending to answer the questions thrown by the media crew because Serena herself only smiled.
Once far from the media crew, Helena let out a sigh of relief which made her aunt laugh a little.
"You're safe now. Just enjoy the party, Auntie is waiting for you inside," Serena said while looking at Helena and observing the girl's appearance again with a smile. "You're beautiful, so be confident and show who you are, Helena. After all the suffering you've been through for the past three years, you must know what to do, right?" Serena's words immediately reminded Helena of the insults she received from her ex-husband's family, and the accusations of infidelity that had nothing to do with Helena. "Auntie, please go ahead." Serena stroked Helena's arm for a moment then left the girl in the hotel lobby. "That's right. Helena has to show the world who she is now." The commotion of the media crew caught Helena's attention when she found out who had come this time, then she smiled widely when she saw the figure walking gracefully towards her. Helena waited until the figure entered and arrived in front of her. "Aren't you surprised?" Helena pursed her lips as the figure stood straight in front of her.
"No. Auntie already told me. However, I am fascinated by you, Miss," Philip said, making Helena chuckle. "You are very beautiful. I haven't seen your smile for a long time," the man added, making Helena turn her head towards Philip.
Helena always felt a strong pull when she was near Philip, making Helena seem unable to stop herself from putting her arms around Philip's neck and hugging him. Her body's reflexes were beyond Helena's control.
"You look handsome tonight too, Brother Philip," Helena greeted him right in his ear.
Philip returned Helena's hug, hugging the girl's body to his.
"Thank you for coming back," Philip said sincerely.
Helena nodded and completely ignored the camera lenses of the participants who were taking their photos. All Helena felt now was the warmth that Philip had. Even though she knew Philip was Helena's older brother, the pull made the girl unable to let go of Philip until her gaze caught a familiar figure. Only then did Helena release her hug from Philip.
"Come on, let's go in together. Auntie must be waiting," Helena invited without caring about the surprised expression of the figure who had just come from beside Helena, probably from the toilet.
Philip just nodded then stretched out his hand for Helena to hold. Not refusing what Philip did, Helena greeted him happily and even smiled broadly while looking at the man.
They entered the hall where the event was taking place. The guests had started to fill the hall and seemed to be enjoying the dishes served, or just chatting with relatives, chatting in the corner of the hall. Helena looked around to find her aunt.
"Auntie is over there," Philip pointed briefly to the front.
Helena nodded.
On her way to her aunt, Helena's ears caught the conversation of the guests, one of whom Helena recognized, but the girl tried not to care. Their steps stopped when someone greeted Philip.
"What are you doing here?" whispered the woman Helena had passed and stopped a few steps near her.
Helena ignored her. Pretending not to hear, which made the glamorous woman stare sharply at Helena who was wearing a dark blue dress. Her appearance did look simple with a black blazer covering her slender body.
"Isn't that your daughter-in-law, Janet?" asked another woman with a glass of red wine in her hand.
Helena listened to the whispers intently.
"No!" The woman denied it loudly, surprising her friends.
Clearing her throat softly to neutralize the atmosphere. Janet said goodbye to her friend and walked towards the woman who was said to be her daughter-in-law. An angry expression was visible on Janet's face and she walked quickly towards Helena who looked relaxed standing next to Philip who was still chatting with his acquaintance. Helena waited for what her ex-mother-in-law would do.
As soon as she reached Helena, Janet immediately pulled her hand and pulled the girl roughly, even gripping Helena's wrist tightly.
"Come with me," Janet whispered without moving her mouth.
Of course, Helena couldn't just leave and just turned her head, pretending to be surprised.
"Let go of me. What are you doing, miss?" Helena asked, making Philip turn his head towards her.
Janet glared at Helena, not accepting the girl's attitude.
"You bitch! What are you doing here? You're embarrassing me!" Janet said with curses, Helena tried her best not to scream or she would be the centre of attention and her image would be tarnished.
Helena stared back at Janet, not at all afraid like before, this time bolder.
"Of course, I came for this event. I-"
"For this event?" Janet snapped sarcastically. "A bitch like you doesn't deserve to be here, damn it," she insulted.
Hurt. Helena just stared at her ex-mother-in-law with hatred. Seeing Janet reminded Helena of what the woman had done, and how she had been kicked out in such a despicable manner.
"Stop saying that," Helena said in pain. Janet didn't care. "You don't even know who I am. So, I will prove who I am so that you regret everything you've done to me," Helena said as she forcefully let go of Janet's grip.
Helena's gaze was still fixed on Janet who couldn't believe Helena's refusal to take off the black blazer she was wearing earlier and then leaving Janet there after someone took the blazer from Helena, making her aura shine.
The dark blue sleeveless dress attracted a lot of attention from the guests. Realizing what Helena was doing, Serena immediately went up on stage and asked for the guests' attention. It just so happened that at that time Serena was about to deliver a speech at the JF Group's 40th anniversary celebration.
"First of all, I would like to thank all of you who have come to the Jerome Family Group's 40th anniversary celebration. For those of you who know JF Group, you must know its history. Tonight, I will not explain the history of our family company anymore. However, instead, I will introduce someone special to the audience," Serena widened her smile as Helena got closer to her.
Helena knew that her aunt was waiting for her on stage, and the girl was aware of the plan made by her aunt to invite Helena to the company's anniversary celebration.
"Come, let me introduce to you, the future heir of JF Group, Helena Heylana Jerome!" Serena's voice boomed on the stage filling the hall with one hand pointing at Helena who was walking towards the stage.
All eyes were on the girl who walked gracefully among the guests towards the stage.
The glass that was held by Jimy who was present at the event just fell. Even Janet seemed to lose her footing, almost falling when she heard who Helena was, and the girl was standing right next to Serena.
She is Helena Hellana Jerome, the heir of JF Group, a multi-international company that dominates various fields throughout the Morphile country. Who doesn't know JF Group? A giant company that is always in the first place. The billionaire princess has made a stir again.
Helena's gaze was fixed on one point with determination to avenge the pain and humiliation she received. However, another fact awaited the girl ahead. Something big.
