It was nine o'clock at night but the bustling streets of Veridian were still very much alive highlighting a very vibrant nightlife. The slums of Veridian was the place where night life in the city peaked as booze, sex, partying and the occasional robbing was a common sight at night."
Amidst the buzz, a delivery truck pulled over at a nightclub and the driver alighted from the vehicle. He circled to the back of the truck, carried crates of drinks and proceeded to enter the club. After navigating his way through the mesh of dancing bodies; he made his way to the bar with the crates in tow.
"Blake, I've got the drinks. Were you at?" The driver whose name was Alexander shouted, trying to call out the bar attendant.
"I'm here I'm here you can stop screaming already" Blake stumbled from the corner. Alexander only had to look at the man and he knew he was drunk.
"Drinking on the job Blake?" Alexander asked with a small smirk on his face.
"Shut up Knightdale. Take the crates to the back and get back here." Blake spat out and continued to indulge himself in liquor.
Alexander shook his head and took the drinks to the back of the bar. He went back to Blake and after collecting his tip, he started to hurry out of the club.
"Hold up Pretty face, we have unfinished business you're still owing me remember." Blake hollered at Alexander making him halt at his tracks.
Shit, Alexander thought as his mind began to race with possible excuses to come up with to stall the payment of his debt once again. If Alexander had his way, he wouldn't have even been at the club but He had a job to do and he could only hope Blake was in a good mood before he came. He was initially ecstatic when he saw Blake drunk and he planned to make a quick escape before he could become sober and remember the debt but it seemed fate had other plans.
"Well? Cat got your tongue Knightdale? Where is my money." Blaze asked with a dangerous undertone in his voice, Alexander gulped as he knew he wouldn't be getting out of this situation easily.
A few eyes gazed at the scene of the confrontation as people began to mumble.
"It's the pauper, he's owing someone money again." A man said with spite
"Seriously? This guy is just an annoying brat. He barely pays up his debts yet he keeps borrowing." another gossiped about Alexander
"Can't believe a handsome hunk like him would be so dirt poor. What a waste of good looks." A woman ridiculed
"Just look at his clothes, he can't even afford decent clothes, so sad" A man cackled
Alexander heard all the comments being directed at him and he gritted his teeth in frustration. He however didn't respond as he had no way of denying any of the insults directed at him. He was wildly known as a pauper and a debtor in the slums of Veridian, he was 26 years old, tall at 193 cm, and was very handsome with long blonde hair that was soft to touch and deep blue eyes that seemed to stare at your soul when you looked at it. Unfortunately, his good looks were completely overshadowed by his poverty and even though he worked as a delivery man in the Ale factory. His pay was barely enough to cater for his needs and so he became a well-known pauper with a knack for accumulating debts.
Blake began to make his way to Alexander with an empty bottle of alcohol in his hands when Alexander failed to reply to him.
"Blake, hey man, please I just need more time. Come on, cut me some slack." Alexander took a step back trying to plead with Blake.
"How much time do you need you wretched pauper?" Blake threatened as he made his way towards Alexander
"Just give me until next week, I'll get you your money stat." Alexander continued to back away as he raised his hand in self defense, in case Blake decided to move mad.
"How do you expect me to believe that you'll be able to come up with one thousand dollars within the week, Knightdale?" Blake raised an eyebrow as he questioned Alexander.
"Just trust me Blake, I'll think of something." Alexander pleaded trying to buy more time for himself.
Blake paused and after a moment of contemplation he nodded.
"Five days, Knightdale, you have five days. If you don't have my money in five days then I'll take my debt by breaking you from limb to limb." Blake threatened with a dangerous glint in his eyes.
"I'll get you your money in 5 days Blake. Drop the bottle please." Alexander said with relief on his face.
"Actually Knightdale, I feel you actually need a small example of what I'll do to you once you fail to give me my money." Blake moved suddenly, swiftly breaking the bottle on Alexander's head. The pieces of the bottle broke Alexander's skin causing him injuries.
"Get me my money Knightdale or else" With a final threat, Blake turned and made his way back to the bar.
Alexander pressed the wound on his head trying to stop the bleeding but it wasn't working. Gritting his teeth and swallowing his anger, he made his way out of the club with mocking gazes and cruel comments trailing him as he made his way back to his truck.
Retrieving a bandage from the truck's trunk, he bandaged the wound and sat inside the truck sipping on some alcohol he stole from the crates he was ordered to deliver.
He clenched his fist in anger as the embarrassment he was subjected to at the club was still fresh in his mind. The thought that he couldn't even do anything infuriated him even more and he threw his drink out of the window in frustration.
He began to dial his girlfriend's number as he needed to calm down but she didn't answer the call. After trying her number multiple times, Alexander gave up. He noticed for a long time that his girlfriend Bianca had begun to act a little weird, acting cold, nonchalant and distant. Alexander thought she was just in her period but when she persisted, he began to feel bothered. He decided to call his best friend Ethan to discuss the issue with him and cool down in the process.
He picked up the phone and dialed Ethan's number and after two rings, Ethan picked the call.
"Hey Alex, what's up man. Are you good?" Ethan asked
"I'm pretty banged up man but I'm still breathing at least." Alexander replied with a tired tone
"Are you sure you're alright Alex? Do you need help?" Ethan's concern was evident which made Alexander smile in gratitude.
"Are you home? I think I could use a break man." Alexander asked.
"Sure, come on over, you're a lucky man though. I just ordered pizza, so bring in some booze on your end." Ethan said
"Alright, no problem. Thanks man." Alexander replied
Alexander cut the call, started the car and began to drive to Ethan's crib.
***
After 20 minutes of driving, Alexander pulled up at Ethan's home eager to unwind and relax after the events of the day. Just as he was about to get down from the car, he noticed the front door of Ethan's home wide open. His eyes went wild with panic as he remembered Ethan had never been one to be this careless. He immediately began to dial Ethan's number and it rang with no response.
Instincts kicked in, Alexander took another bottle of alcohol, wielded it like a weapon and began to make his way into the house. He stealthily entered the house and he began to hear the sounds of commotion upstairs.
Making his way upstairs, he stayed hidden as he traced the sound of the commotion to a room and he was immediately overcome with panic by the scene before him.
Three men were standing in the room with weapons; Ethan was tied to a chair with his hands tied behind him and he was injured severely throughout his body with blood gushing out of his wounds like a broken dam. One of the men held Ethan's daughter and prevented her from screaming by gagging her in the mouth.
"You're completely useless. It seems this heist was a waste of time." One of the thugs said exasperatedly while hitting Ethan on the head to vent out his frustrations.
"Still, this heist hasn't been completely useless, this little brat can be a big enough incentive." The leader of the thugs pointed at the little girl his man was holding.
Alexander was frozen on the spot as he watched the spectacle. He wanted to rush in and save them but he bided his time waiting for an opportunity.
"Listen here idiot. Since we couldn't get any money from you, we're going to be taking your little daughter here. If you don't come up with the sum of fifteen thousand dollars before the month ends. You can say goodbye to your princess." The leader of the thugs said while pointing a gun at his daughter's head.
Ethan struggled violently but he was hit again and he slumped making the kidnappers erupt in laughter. Suddenly the thugs heard the sound of something breaking in the living room. The leader gestured for the other two to go downstairs and investigate. As they went down, the leader continued to taunt Ethan and then Alexander struck.
Alexander sprinted from his hiding spot and broke the bottle he was holding on the head of the thug; temporarily blinded by the alcohol, the thug screamed and thrashed around. Alexander used the broken bottle and pierced the jagged pieces into the back of the thug. Alexander switched his attention to his friend and his daughter and he immediately untied them.
"Uncle you came to save us, please help daddy he's hurt," the little girl named Eli cried as she hugged Alexander tightly.
"Take Eli and leave Alex, with my condition I'll only slow you down. Save her." Ethan pleaded while coughing out blood.
"I can't leave you here Ethan, we're leaving here together, besides I'd make a terrible father." Alexander said determinedly as he tried to carry Ethan on his back and leave the house.
"You still have time to make jokes, you idiot." Ethan smiled.
At point the other two thugs arrived back into the room and they stared at Alexander shocked, they quickly regained their composure and tried to attack Alexander. Alexander managed to continue fending them off. Alexander had been involved in a number of fights over the years and so he had experience fighting and together with his physically fit and stunning body, handling two thugs was something he could manage.
In the middle of the skirmish, the thug's leader cleared his eyes from the alcohol and in a moment of rage; he took out his gun and pointed it as Alexander.
"NOOO!" Alexander heard Ethan scream out loud and he abruptly turned only to witness Ethan lying on the floor with a gunshot wound on his stomach. Ethan had taken the bullet meant for him.
"Take the girl and let's leave." The leader of the thugs shouted and he immediately seized little Eli who was screaming at the top of her voice. The other two thugs followed suit and they swiftly made their way out of the house.
Alexander was torn between going after the thugs to save Eli and staying behind to save his best friend. In the end he stayed behind to take his best friend to the hospital.
"Please, Alex save Eli" Ethan kept murmuring as Alexander carried him to the car.
"You can't die Ethan, I'll save you then I'll save Eli. I swear it" Alexander swore as he started the car's engine speeding off as fast as possible until he reached the nearest hospital.
He jumped off the car, carried Ethan and rushed into the hospital screaming for help. The nurses immediately took Ethan from his hands and laid him in a stretcher, taking him to the intensive care unit.
Alexander waited outside pacing about while sweating profusely as he waited for Ethan's condition to stabilize.
Finally the door swung open and the doctor walked out removing his bloodstained gloves.
"Doctor, how is he? Is he going to be ok?" Alexander asked nervously.
"We have been able to stabilize his condition for now, but he needs immediate surgery to remove the bullet and repair the damage." The doctor said to Alexander with a serious expression on his face.
"How much will the operation cost doctor?" Alexander asked
"The operation would cost the sum of three hundred thousand dollars" The doctor immediately replied and Alexander gasped out in horror at the figure the doctor called out.
"WHAT!" Alexander gasped in horror
"How could it cost so much?" Alexander gasped in horror as he heard the price of the surgery. He knew fully well he would never be able to raise that amount of money in a short period of time. He began to think of his options before he finally got an idea.
"I would suggest you hurry Mr. Alexander, your friend doesn't have much time." The doctor interrupted Alexander's thoughts
"Please doctor, stabilize him. I think I know where I can get the surgery fee. Can I drop my number so you can update me on his condition?" Alexander asked worriedly.
"No problem, but make haste. I doubt he has much time." The doctor left a final warning and cut the call.
Alexander dropped his cell number with the doctor and rushed out of the hospital; he entered his truck and as he started the engine, his cell phone began to ring. Annoyed he checked the caller ID and swore under his breath when he saw his boss on the line.
He picked up the phone and he was immediately bombarded with questions by an angry voice.
"Where are you Knightdale? You've still got tons of drinks to deliver. What kind of insubordination is this?" Alexander's boss shouted into the phone.
"I'm sorry boss, my fri...." Alexander tried to explain but his boss cut him off.
"I don't care what excuse you have. Come back to work right now or you're fired." His boss yelled once again and with that final threat, his boss ended the call. Alexander didn't even consider his bosses as his friend's life was more important to him.
Alexander started the car and zoomed off to meet his girlfriend. Alexander's girlfriend Bianca came from a very wealthy family. She was the only daughter of an extremely wealthy millionaire and she had everything she ever wanted. When Bianca went against her family's wishes to date Alexander after Alexander pursued her relentlessly, he was extremely happy and he had been trying his best to match up to her expensive taste by borrowing from others to buy her expensive gifts. He was confident that Bianca would help him out in his time of need now as he planned to ask for aid from Bianca's family hoping that he would succeed.
As Alexander pulled over at his girlfriend's house located in the riverfront promenade. He caught sight of two expensive cars. A Porsche 911 sport classic and a Lamborghini Centenario parked at front, he stared at the expensive cars dumbfounded as the combined worth of the two cars was reportedly a whopping 4 million dollars. He wondered who came to visit Bianca but he shrugged it off as he entered the house and made his way to the front door.
He knocked at the door but noticed the door was already open. Strange, Alexander thought as he open the door to enter the living room. He was about to call for Bianca's name when he heard the noises from the bedroom above. Curious, Alexander made his way upstairs and barged into the bedroom.
He saw Bianca half naked with a bare chested stranger on her bed; they were kissing each other, oblivious to Alexander's presence and they obviously were about to do the deed. Alexander was shattered beyond compare, He stood at the door watching the love of his life moaning to the touch of another man and a wave of anger threatened to consume him.
"Bianca, what is the meaning of this!" Alexander thundered, rousing the two from their lust, Bianca stared at Alexander standing at the door in shock, and her cheeks became flushed with embarrassment. Why on earth was Alexander here of all times, she had always told him to call before coming over to her place, so why would show up unannounced today of all days. "Al...ex, I...I can explain." She stuttered as she scrambled to find a shirt to cover up her body.
"Explain? Tell me Bianca, how can you explain being in bed with a complete stranger? How? I trust you, I loved you whole heartedly and this is how you repay me?" Alexander broke down in tears. Today wasn't a good day and the weight of the events became too much for Alexander to bear.
The man on the bed looked at Alexander and frowned deeply. He didn't know who this person was and judging by his unkempt appearance, he was most likely a very poor man. The man scoffed as he realized that the cost of the man's outfit wasn't even up to 20$, so it was no surprise he didn't know him as he never related with people below his social standard.
He was however curious about how Bianca came to know such a wretched man. From the way he was acting, it was clear they had something going on.
"Baby, do you know this wretched fool?" The man asked as he dragged Bianca into his embrace in a display of possessiveness. Alexander noticed this action and it took everything in him not to attack the man there and then; but he made no move. He needed help for his friend and he also wanted an explanation from Bianca.
Bianca was very embarrassed at the question. She became filled with anger at Alexander as he was trying to ruin her chances with the man that was hugging her, and she began to regret ever dating Alexander.
She had met Alexander when came to drop a delivery in a club she was partying at. She was smitten by his good looks and sexy body so she flirted with him. They went to Bianca's home that night and had sex with each other. Bianca was initially excited at the prospect of dating such a ladies man but there was only one fatal flaw with Alexander. He was very poor.
She changed her mind and tried to avoid Alexander as much as she could but he was persistent. He kept on pestering her until she had enough and decided to agree to a relationship but with the condition that their relationship would be a private one.
They dated for three months and Alexander confirmed her fears. He couldn't even take care of himself properly let alone cater for her expensive needs, she had even began to her rumors about him being a popular debtor. Bianca began to cheat with multiple men; however when she was introduced to Sebastian Floyd by her father who was a wealthy man himself, she instantly fell for him. He was tall, physically fit with a handsome face and he was a billionaire with a successful tech company that was raking in millions in profit monthly. Although she knew her father wanted to have her and Sebastian married so he could have connections with Sebastian, she didn't care as Sebastian was willing to get her everything she desired.
The Porsche outside was a gift for her from Sebastian, he had even painted the car to her favorite color and customized it according to her wishes. Alexander could never do something like that for her, he couldn't even take care of himself properly.
Bianca sighed heavily as she made up her mind, she was initially going to break up with Alexander secretly but since Alexander had found out about Sebastian, she decided to end things with him here.
"Alexander, we've had a good run but I'm sorry, I'm breaking up with you." Bianca said with determination.
Alexander struggled to process the words coming from Bianca's mouth, he was in a state of shock as he had always believed Bianca loved him wholeheartedly.
"You...You're breaking up with me?" Alexander asked incredulously, still unable to process the swift turn of events.
"Yes Alexander, I'm breaking up with you. This relationship shouldn't even have happened in the first place; so it's time to wake up to reality." Bianca answered emotionlessly.
"I'm engaged to Sebastian and he has simply been wonderful to me. He has taken care of me in the way I was meant to be taken care off, something you could never do. This is over Alexander, you can leave now." Bianca said effectively cutting off all ties with Alexander.
"You heard my woman buddy, now get out of here." Sebastian spat out rubbing salt in Alexander's wounds.
Alexander ignored him and just stared at Bianca with tears in his eyes. He opened his mouth with the intention to beg Bianca but he decided against it; his friend's life was in danger and he needed help fast.
"I'll leave Bianca if that's what you want. But before I go, I need your help, someone's life is on the line." Alexander told Bianca everything that happened with Ethan and Eli. Bianca listened with an emotionless face.
"Please I want to borrow 300,00$ from you, I need to pay for Ethan's surgery; I promise ill pay you back." Alexander pleaded with Bianca hoping she would help him but he was disappointed as he saw that Bianca wasn't moved at all.
Sebastian burst out laughing when he heard Alexander's plea, Alexander clenched his fists tightly in anger but he managed to restrain himself as he wanted to hear Bianca's reply.
"I can't believe you dated such a peasant, he can't even afford a meagre 300,00$. God this is funny as hell" Sebastian continued to poke fun at Alexander and he finally snapped.
Alexander in a fit of rage launched a swift uppercut and connected sweetly with Sebastian's chin, Sebastian responded with a right hook and then they began to brawl.
Alexander was a poor pauper who has had many fights before, he developed a vicious street style of fighting and coupled with his fit physique; he was strong in a fight.
Sebastian was a very wealthy man who learned martial arts as a form of hobby, so he was confident in his ability to hold his own in a fight.
The two men continued to exchange blows and Sebastian found himself on the losing end, he was embarrassed that he was losing a fight to a commoner like Alexander in front of his future wife no less. He gritted his teeth and continued to exchange punches with him but with each punch he got back from Alexander, he received an enormous amount of pain. The fight continued with Alexander becoming even more ferocious until Sebastian decided he couldn't take in anymore.
"Bianca! What are you doing standing there? Call the police dammit, get this...." Sebastian yelled but his words were cut short as Alexander's fist connected with his jaw.
Bianca quickly got out her cell phone and began to dial the police number. Alexander, seeing this was going overboard, kicked Sebastian in his gut and began to run, he made his way to his car, started the car and speedily made his way out of Bianca's home.
What did I just do? Alexander thought as he frustratingly hit the steering wheel. His only hope of getting the money was dashed as not only won't his ex-girlfriend help him, he's made enemies with a seemingly powerful and wealthy man.
Tears stung his eyes as he drove, the pain of Bianca's betrayal stung him terribly. After crying for a few minutes, he managed to calm down as he still haven't figured out how to get the money needed for Ethan's surgery. As he began to think, his phone rang signaling a call.
He saw an unknown number and hesitated before picking it up.
"Hello, am I speaking to Alexander?" Alexander recognized the voice of the doctor from the hospital and his heart began to beat erratically.
"Doctor, it's me, please begin the surgery, I'm going to get the money." Alexander answered with a voice filled with desperation.
"I'm sorry Mr. Alexander, your friend has sadly passed away." The doctor's voice sounded eerily as he dropped the sad news about Ethan's death.
He was in a state of shock, his tears that had dried threatened to spill as he was faced with the crushing news of the death of his best friend.
"No, that can't be true. Doctor, this has to be some mistake." Alexander screamed into the phone as he refused to believe the news of his friend's death. Alexander's hands tightened on the steering wheel, his attention was momentarily diverted from the road but just that moment of distraction was enough for tragedy to strike.
"Where am I?" Alexander groaned as he began to regain consciousness, his eyes fluttered open as he struggled to clear his blurry vision.
Strange, my bed was never this soft. Alexander thought as he began to rise from the plush seat he was lying on. He looked at his body and discovered he was bare from the waist up, some parts of his body was bandaged and this left Alexander very confused. Suddenly memories from the car crash started flooding in.
He remembered how he lost control of his truck and rammed into another car, he remembered a loud crash and the screeching of tires, he recalled the shattering of glass, metal crumbling and the air filled with the deafening sound of the collision.
"What have I done?" Alexander murmured as he was overcome with a sense of grief. He began to worry about the lives of the passengers in the other car.
His vision began to clear and he began to take in his surroundings. The more he observed, the more shocked he became and he immediately became guarded. He saw that he was obviously in a car and an expensive one no less. He took a moment to admire the plush interior of the car, he could smell that new car smell as cool air began to come from the vents; everything inside the car screamed of wealth.
How did I even find myself here? Alexander thought as he cleared his eyes to clear his vision a bit more then he suddenly remembered. Before falling unconscious, he was saved from the wreckage by a man in a very expensive black three piece suit. He passed out before he could get a look at the man's face.
"I see you're awake young master." A voice sounded out from the side startling him, Alexander was shook as he didn't realize that there was a second person in the car. He turned to look at the owner of the voice and his eyes widened in recognition.
"Thomas, what are you doing here?" Alexander asked incredulously as this man was the least person he would have ever hoped to come across.
"Saving you apparently, you've sustained some injuries but fortunately I was able to patch you up." Thomas answered with a respectful tone.
"No Thomas, you know exactly what I'm talking about. What are you doing here, how did you find me?" Alexander asked with a dangerous tone as the reality of his situation dawned on him, a past he had been running away from for the past 6 years had finally caught up to him.
"Calm yourself young master, it was merely providence that led me to you. I was running an errand for the master when I witnessed the accident, I recognized you and I was obliged to save you." Thomas explained himself patiently.
"And you expect me to believe this crap Thomas? That you were magically there at the scene of the car crash?" Alexander scoffed.
"I don't expect you to believe me young master but I only did what I had to do which was saving your life." Thomas calmly replied.
Alexander shut his mouth as he was too tired to speak, this night was officially the worst night of his life. His best friend died, his best friend's daughter who he loved like his own was kidnapped, his girlfriend cheated on him and he was very sure he was going to get sacked at his job. He looked out the window and saw the faintest traces of sunlight peeking out of the horizon.
"Where are you taking me Thomas?" Alexander asked, already dreading the answer.
"We are going to the heights young master, where you rightfully belong." Thomas confirmed Alexander's fears as he shut his eyes in pain. for 6 years, he wasn't able to run away from his past. He was going back to face it and the thought filled Alexander with a sense of dread.
"The master missed you Alexander, he had always been searching for you. He would be delighted you have returned." Thomas said to Alexander attempting to soothe the tension.
"Father had been nothing but a monster, don't give me that crap that he missed me" Alexander spat out viciously.
"I understand your pain Alexander but the master has changed, he's grown older and his energy from his younger days has waned, he needs his heir. This is your destiny young master, you cannot run away from this." Thomas said with a serious tone.
Alexander fell silent as he began to think.
"Forgive my impudence young master but how has life been these past 6 years that you've been away? Tell me? Are your experiences any better than at the Knight Villa or they've just gotten worse?" Thomas asked
Alexander began to think about all the experiences he had to go through ever since he left his past life. It wasn't a life that Alexander was proud of but at least he had freedom from the oppression and the expectations of the past. His mind drifted to the events of last night and his eyes misted with tears.
Thomas reached out and gave him a handkerchief, Alexander accepted the gesture and wiped his tears.
"You can tell me anything young master, I will always listen to you." Thomas assured Alexander.
Alexander was grateful for the gesture as the weight of the events of last night was too much for him to bear, having someone share a bit of his pain soothed him, besides it was Thomas; Alexander trusted Thomas with his life even and with that in mind, he poured out everything to Thomas leaving out no detail. Thomas listened patiently, not interrupting once until Alexander finished.
"Young master, I am so sorry for your losses. But forgive me for saying this but in a way I am grateful you had these experiences." Thomas said softly.
"What do you mean you're grateful I had these experiences Thomas? Last night was one of the worst nights in my life, how could you say that?" Alexander asked furiously.
"Allow me to explain myself young master." Thomas said, attempting to calm Alexander's rage.
"I am grateful, Alexander, because now you have firsthand experience on what people who do not have money or power go through on a daily basis." Thomas said with a sigh of relief
"What does money or power have anything to do with this?" Alexander asked in frustration.
"Do not play dumb young master." Thomas fixed Alexander with a stern gaze. "Money and power is everything and you had them yet you almost let it slip."
"Think about it Alexander, if you had money what would a meagre Three hundred thousand dollars be for you? You could have saved your friend's life with minimal effort. What about your friend's daughter? With power and the right connections, those scums would be tracked in the shortest possible time and if you wanted you could kill them with your bare hands with no consequences. Look at your Ex, she broke up with you young master why? Because you couldn't provide her with her needs, in essence you didn't have money. She cheated on you with a wealthy man because of that exact reason and you sit there and ask me what does money and power have to do with any of this?" Thomas rambled on, his eyes never leaving Alexander's.
Alexander's jaw dropped in disbelief and he never remembered Thomas being able to spew out such a large number of words in a single sentence. He had always known Thomas to be a rather reserved man and so seeing him talking so much shocked Alexander.
"Listen to me Young master." Thomas continued with unwavering determination. "I understand life wasn't exactly the best in the Knight's villa but running from it is never the answer. You are a Knight, Knight's do not run away from a challenge, I want you to stop running Alexander; stop running and face the challenges ahead. Take up your mantle as the Heir of the most successful business empire in the world, take all the power, money and connections that comes with it and use it to your advantage. You could save lives if you want, you could have any woman of your choice heck you would never be in a position of weakness like last night. Return young master, return and take what rightfully belongs to you. Alexander Knight." Thomas ended his speech with a pointed stare at Alexander.
Alexander paused, deep in thought as he began to think about everything Thomas has said. He saw that Thomas was absolutely right, if he had enough money; he would have saved Ethan's life, he wouldn't have gotten cheated on by Bianca and he could have been the man she always wanted, he would have gotten Eli back from those kidnappers by now.
With a deep breath, Alexander made up his mind. "Take me to the villa Thomas, it's time I stopped running away from who I am" Alexander said with a tone that oozed authority.
Thomas, seeing the change in Alexander, nodded his head with a satisfied expression on his face.
"I'm returning to take my rightful place as the heir Thomas, but it doesn't mean I'll forgive that old monster." Alexander paused before continuing. "I suspect he had something to do with Moms suicide Thomas, I intend to find out the truth."
Thomas expression changed but he swiftly regained his composure as he sat back in his seat. "I will support you in anything you'd want to do, young master."
"Thank you Thomas." Alexander said gratefully and he sat back to rest his injured body. The car continued to zoom off heading to the Heights, The center of Veridian city
The ride was silent as neither of them said a word, each of them lost in their own thoughts. After 6 hours of driving, the car stopped in front of an enormous gate. Alexander opened his eyes and looked at the gate with a sense of dread.
I'm back, after so long I've returned. Alexander thought as he stared at the majestic gate that gave off a gold shine with the name KNIGHT VILLA boldly written at top of the gate.
"We are here, young master." Thomas informed Alexander. Alexander nodded as he watched the gate slowly open. After a series of rigorous security checks with Thomas confirming Alexander's identity, they finally drove past the gates.
The driveway stretched ahead, lined with tall trees. At the end stood the enormous villa, shining in the sunlight.
The villa was like a palace, all white and fancy. Its windows sparkled, and the gardens were full of colorful flowers. A fountain bubbled in the courtyard, its water glinting in the sun.
Alexander admired the place he was about to call home once again, the architectural beauty never seemed to stop amazing him even as a child. His father sure had taste, but beneath all the admiration, Alexander still felt he was walking into a prison.
Finally the cat stopped at the huge doors of the villa. The driver came down and opened the door for the both of them before getting back into the car and driving off.
Alexander stood in front of the large door taking deep breaths, he tried to gain his composure but it was proving difficult. He was about to meet his father, a ruthless man who was anything but kind and loving to him, a man who made him give up on the good life to run away. Alexander became hesitant and questioned whether it was the right decision to come back home.
A hand pressed on Alexander's shoulder squeezing it as if to give Alexander support, he turned to see it was Thomas and he responded with a nod.
"Remember, you are a knight. You face all challenges and overcome them." Thomas encouraged Alexander and with that, they both entered the villa to meet Alexander's father.
