"Mate!" He growled, grabbing her by the waist as he leaned in to sniff her neck.
Her mouth hung open in shock and her eyes bulged as he swiftly dodged a spear sent their way, carrying her along with him, his nose still on her neck.
Who was this stranger? And how could he cling onto her this way in the middle of a battle? Wasn't he afraid of death?
On the clanging of the iron spear against the floor, her eyes went even wider as the red veins in them began to get visible.
Wait a minute!
She raised her right knee into his groin just then and he let out a loud groan before letting go of her.
On seeing his face, an angry snarl formed on her lips and she drew her gun, disgust filling up her entire being.
This was the face of their worst enemy, the face of the man she was meant to kill, the face of a known lunatic.
How dare he cling unto her that way with his wet snot on her neck?
"Mate?" He moaned softly as he put his hands up in the air, his piercing eyes never leaving her face.
Mate? Was he out of his ducking mind? Was he ... like possessed by an animal spirit or something?
'Shoot on sight.' The words of her commander rang in her ears, startling her.
Nodding at the command, she held the gun to his face, an angry snarl forming on her lips as she aimed to shoot only to feel a weakening in her knees.
"You can't do that to me." He whispered enough for her to hear amidst the ongoing clashes around them.
Her eyes blinked and in a flash, her gun slipped from her hand and she fell to the floor, a rippling tingle washing through her.
"Mate!" He growled, catching her before she could hit the floor.
"Let...go of ...me." She hissed.
What was wrong with her?
What was this strange feeling?
Why the hell was she panting?
Why did she...
She let out a moan the moment his bare skin made contact with the skin of her neck.
Clamping her mouth shut, her neck reddened the moment her now blurry eyes caught the raise in his brows.
"You feel it too, don't you?"
"Number 389!" Her commander's harsh voice rang into her skull making her jerk in his arms but she fell lax again.
"What the fuck...are you doing to me?" She hissed through her teeth, hatred beginning to burn through her eyes as she panted hard at the tingling sensation of their skin touching.
"Me too Human, me too...what the fuck have you done to me?" He asked almost gently, leaning in closer, his eyes locked in on hers like she was the only thing he could afford to look at even as blood splattered on them from dying comrades.
"NUMBER 389! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!? YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SHOOTING HIM DOWN AND NOT PLAYING A DANG ROMANCE SCENE!"
She winced, her eyes shutting close at the loud voice in her head.
"What?" He asked, his voice concerned.
Forcing saliva down her dry throat, she bit down on her tongue till she tasted a metallic tang.
Just when she was about shaking out whatever spell the terrorist had cast on her, she helplessly watched him reach for the device in her ear and yanked it off.
"Ther..."
He didn't get the chance to finish his word because she had sent her fist flying into his face before rolling out of his hold.
Panting hard, she struggled to her feet, stumbling to stand erect, her eyes never leaving him even as he blinked up at her, a smirk gracing his lips.
"Blessed be the moon goddess. At least you aren't a weak one." He bared his now reddening teeth, blood leaking from his nose as he stood gracefully to his feet.
"Back off!" She yelled towards his direction repeatedly shaking her head to rid herself of the tingles speedily running through her veins and into her head..
"How could I when you belong to me? To us." He tucked his hands into his pocket, his green eyes focusing solely on her.
"You are insane!"
"Now only because of you." He raised a brow and spat out the clump of blood in his mouth.
She felt her body begin to shake...from hatred, anger...then her brow knitted in confusion...
She could feel her heart melting for him, he suddenly looked so manly in his pose, so handsome that his deadly eyes only made her thighs clap themselves together.
What was this...this sudden blooming feeling she had for the enemy of their country?
No!
She began to vigorously shake her head as her eyes widened in realization.
"No need to deny the feeling Mate. I know you love us already."
No!
She shook her head even faster as she backed away, scrambling to force her mind to think straight.
This wasn't love, no! It was...lust!
Lust!
How the hell could she lust after a stranger!?
Not just a stranger, but her enemy, the insane terrorist she should be hunting down?
How could she lust after him when her comrades were continuously falling to their death at the mercy of his followers?
"Come on." He cooed, casually sidestepping to dodge a dagger thrown his way.
Her eyes widened when he pushed his hand out to grab the weapon mid-air.
They were right!!
Not only was he insane, he was also a cult leader!
"Come on, Sweet." He took a slow step towards her again, his piercing gaze turning dangerous.
Swallowing, she let a growl escape her lips as she lunged towards him, her fist out in the air.
"HOW DARE YOU DRUG ME!?"
Casually hoisting his hands forward, he caught her midair with a belly deep chuckle as he spoke into her ear.
"Me? Drug you?"
"Unhand me this instant!" She was almost screaming with hysteria but he casually trapped her legs in-between his.
"What you feel right now is the process of being mine... you were born to be mine."
"Alpha!"
He snapped his head back to see his Beta waving a red piece of cloth at him behind thick fumes of smoke.
Fuck!
His eyes darted around in time to catch a snipper stationed at the far end of a building.
Double fuck!
He hissed, bending forward as he clutched his groin. This human the moon goddess had cursed him with might actually be the end of him.
Before he could say Jack, she already had the cold muzzle of her gun pinned to the side of his head.
[Their reinforcements have arrived and we are outnumbered. We need to get out of here quick!] His Beta's voice boomed in his head through the mind link but he kept his eyes trained on the human in front of him.
"This is for invading my space." She snarled before hitting his head with the butt of the gun, earning a slight groan from him.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." He countered as he straightened, forcing her to look up at him.
Barking out a wry laugh, she glared hard at him. "I would be begging on my knees if I were you."
He let out a dry chuckle before calmly looking into her eyes.
"Is that what you want, human?"
She held her gun tighter at the change in his voice, her fingers suddenly trembling at the trigger.
"Do you desperately want to see me begging on my knees?" He asked, walking closer to the muzzle of her gun.
Her throat bobbed and her neck burned red without her permission.
Why did she suddenly have a feeling that they were talking about two different things all together?
Extending his hand towards her, he tilted his head to the side. "Come with me and you'll be the only person I kneel to."
"Wh...what?" She spluttered at the rate her heart beat quickened.
Her palms suddenly grew sweaty.
What was all the nonsense she was feeling?
[Alpha! Duck!]
At that, he dived into her, rolling them to the side and under the protection of a rock as rain of bullets tore through the ground he was standing on seconds ago.
"What are..."
"Shhh!" He hissed, cupping her lips.
When he felt the familiar coldness of a muzzle pressed against his stomach, a wry smile tugged at his lips as his hand slid off her face.
"What? Even after saving your life, you aren't grateful?"
"You should be grateful you got a few extra minutes to breathe." She hissed in return, her heart pounding hard against her ribcage from being extra close to him even as the bullets continued to rain down around them.
"You still want to be loyal to the people who won't waste a breath in finishing you off to get me?" He had a brow raised as he asked.
She let her lip pull up in a semblance of a smirk, "as long as they get you."
A muscle feathered in his jaw as his green eyes turned cold.
Her eyes turned equally cold as they glared at themselves.
Without wasting a single breath, he grabbed her chin.
She pushed the muzzle deeper into his taut belly without hesitation, ignoring whatever tingles she felt and daring him to do anything out of the ordinary.
"You belong to me!" He pronounced, his eyes looking into hers one at a time.
She spat into his face, making him flinch from the impact before smiling.
"I'd rather get my throat slit than belong to the enemy of my people." She fired back at him, the hand holding the gun shaky from tension.
"Is that so?" He let off a smirk as he leaned in dangerously closer to her lips.
"You are already cornered by my comrades." She commented with a tinge of pride.
"Or not?" He tilted his head to the side, his smirk turning into a crazed smile on seeing the look of pride slowly die off her face.
"What do you m..."
He leaned in at that moment and sealed her lips shut with a kiss, his hand still holding her jaw as his lips moved against hers.
Ignoring the metallic tang of blood from him, she let out a moan, her body tightening even as she melted against him.
This shouldn't be happening!
She could feel her brain mushing up.
The sounds of bullets continued raining into the ground and already dead bodies blurred out of her view, leaving a loud ringing in her ears.
This shouldn't be happening!
Her closing eyes snapped open and she did the only thing her brain could think of at that moment.
She pulled the trigger right into his belly.
She felt the air as her body fell forward only to open her eyes to a strange environment and a pair of legs few feet away.
Lifting her eyes up the body in front of her, she jerked at the sight of the clam ones staring down at her.
Blinking down at the gun still in her hand, her lids widened and she immediately looked around, her heart thumping in her chest.
How did they get here from the...
"Wait..." She said in a strangled voice as she rapidly blinked up at him.
"Aren't you supposed to be..."
"Dead?" He finished off for her with a raise of his brow, a dark chuckle escaping his lips.
With a flick of his hand towards her, the gun in her hand disappeared into thin air, startling the hell out of her.
Scooting back in shock, she bit back a scream.
What in the name of juju was that!?
Trying to be brave, she struggled to glare up at him only to find his back to her.
"Gag her." He ordered in a cold voice she could only associate with his person.
In a blink of an eye, a sexy looking terrorist with piercings jumped into her line of sight, almost startling her out of her skin.
"What do you think you are doing?" She hissed at the enemy's back.
"Gagging you." The sexy terrorist responded with a lopsided mockery of a smile, his gold tooth glinting while she sneered at him.
"You can't do that to me! Get out of my way!" She shot out her hand and pushed at him before jumping to her feet and stomping her way towards him.
Her angry steps faltered when she saw a raise of his hand in the air and a swoosh of a flying fist at the base of her neck.
She would have been knocked down just now if he hadn't stopped it. Where did all her intense training go? How could she not feel the attack coming?
She felt goosebumps line her skin but she hardened her facial features before speaking with the courage she currently didn't feel.
"I don't know what magical powers you have but you will get me back to my people this instant!"
He whirled on her, all forms of amusement gone from his eyes.
"Really?" He snapped, clearly irritated by her stubbornness.
Gritting her teeth at him, she responded. "Yes. I am a high ranking member of the special force and you have no rights to kidnap me against..."
"I have every right!" He barked, suddenly right in front of her, forcing a hiccup to escape her lips as she looked up at him, her wide eyes rapidly blinking.
She wasn't sure she could get used to this strange show of magic.
"You are my mate!"
"I am nobody's mate...you psychopath!" She jabbed at his chest, her eyes wide with growing anger.
Someone hiccuped in the background but she was too busy getting angry to notice the silent commotion behind her.
"Are you some sort of animal going on about mating? And what the hell did you do to me with your occultic magic!?" She hissed, her eyes almost spitting fire at him.
"You lost the privilege to question me after pulling the trigger on me." He said calmly with a deadly undertone, his nose flaring.
"And you have no right to claim me."
"Oh I do!" He grabbed her hand and pressed it onto his chest.
Her throat ran dry as her startled heart started thumping loudly with the flow of weird tingles spreading through her body.
Her eyes brimmed with tears at how much she hated the way she felt about this enemy the moment he touched her.
She suddenly couldn't find the energy to hate on him as she whispered. "Why me?"
"You have lost the privilege to question me." He responded coldly with his eyes running through the contours of her face.
"Do you feel it?" He asked instead, his hand snaking around her waist as he pulled her closer to him.
Someone coughed in the background this time but she felt trapped in his intense green gaze that she couldn't even turn her head to see who was behind her.
"The moon goddess must surely hate me." He snickered, before leaning his head in to press his nose against the side of her head.
She found herself leaning in to him and hating herself for doing so.
"How on earth could she give me a human mate after all these years of waiting for my other half?"
After a few seconds, he withdrew, a conflicting emotion on his face.
"I... I don't know whatever gibberish you are spewing...all...all I want is for you to end this! End it!" She wished to scream but it came out a choked whisper instead with her eyes wide and looking into his.
He shook his head. "I can't."
Then he let go of her gently.
Gently; a gesture she would never expect from a brutal terrorist.
"I have waited my entire life for you." He said, his eyes pinned on hers before looking at the rocky ground.
"I don't care what you are anymore. All you have to do is to accept the mate bond and love me."
She opened my mouth to protest but her words got stuck to her throat.
"You cannot leave." His eyes snapped up to meet hers and this time they were a black pair and no longer green causing a chill to run down her spine.
"You are mine now and will accept me as yours."
"Your...your eyes...what happened to your eyes?" She stuttered, feeling the air being knocked out of her lungs.
It was then the panic she was trained half of her life not to feel suddenly knocked into her, almost crippling her as she looked around for an escape route.
For the first time since she opened her eyes in the new environment did she observe the surroundings around them.
They were somewhere on the border of her country and the endless forest.
How did they get here? What did he do?
She didn't have the time to ponder on the questions as she suddenly turned on her heels to run in search of a way out only to pause at the ten dozens of eyes staring back at her with conflicting emotions.
"Where do you think you are going, mate?" His voice made her heart quiver.
She needed to find a way to go back to base... a way to talk of her new findings about the popular terrorist...a way to make them believe he wasn't just any human.
"You can't leave us." He barked and at that, she suddenly tumbled, her knees meeting the stony ground.
