The Playboy's Hidden Empire

Author: : Eileen
Genre: Billionaires
Reckless playboy Alex Sterling was back in New York, straight from his Alaska 'sabbatical,' finally ready to claim his inheritance: his grandfather's multi-billion dollar tech empire. But my greedy parents, Richard and Victoria, along with my plotting half-brothers, Marcus and Leo, were already circling like sharks, eyeing Sterling Innovations for themselves. They wasted no time. At dinner, they openly challenged my competence, a performative prelude. Then came the emergency board meeting, where they tried to oust me as 'unfit,' propped up by bribed board members and even a seemingly damning testimony from brilliant engineer Chloe Davis, whom my father had pressured. It looked like a clear victory for them. Everyone bought their narrative: the unstable playboy heir, easily removed. But they knew nothing of the deeper game; they didn't see the meticulously gathered evidence I held, or their own years of hidden treachery. Their attempt to commit me to a 'wellness retreat' was the final straw, and the ultimate bait. What they thought was their triumph was actually a meticulously planned trap. Now, it was time to reveal who the true puppet master was, expose their attempted murders, and the dark secrets they'd kept hidden for decades.

Chapter 1

The private jet landed smoothly at Teterboro.

I, Alex Sterling, was back in New York.

My "sabbatical" heli-skiing in Alaska was over.

Time to face the circus.

Sterling Innovations, my grandfather's tech empire, was mine.

A multi-billion dollar headache.

My father, Richard Sterling, hated that.

He wanted it all.

My mother, Victoria, wanted it more.

They were a matched pair, polished snakes in expensive suits and dresses.

I held the controlling interest, thanks to Grandfather.

He saw them for what they were.

He left me the company, and the "golden share".

Ultimate veto.

My public image? Carefree, reckless, a playboy.

Good. Let them think that.

It was a carefully built wall to hide the real Alex.

The one who learned to survive them.

Ben Carter, my head of security, my only real assistant, met me.

He was Mr. Anderson's son. Anderson was Grandfather's old friend, a loyal board member.

"Welcome back, Alex."

Ben never wasted words.

"The penthouse is... crowded," he said, his face unreadable.

"Define crowded."

"Your father has a new protégée. Chloe Davis. Software engineer."

Chloe Davis. The name meant nothing. Yet.

"And your mother has moved in her sons. Marcus and Leo Vance."

My half-brothers. Illegitimate. Victoria's little power play.

I grunted. "A full house. How festive."

The ride to the Manhattan penthouse was short.

The air inside was thick, heavy.

Richard stood in the foyer, a forced smile plastered on his face.

"Alex. You're back. Finally decided to grace us with your presence?"

His tone was smooth, like old whiskey, but with a bitter aftertaste.

Victoria glided in, all diamonds and disdain.

"Darling. Your trip was productive, I hope? You look... windblown."

Then I saw them.

Chloe Davis stood near Richard, young, dark hair, intelligent eyes that looked out of place in this viper pit. She looked uncomfortable.

Marcus Vance, finance bro incarnate, smirked from the sofa. Leo, his brother, all muscle and low brow, just stared.

They were sizing me up.

Good.

"Productive enough," I said, dropping my duffel bag. "The snow was excellent."

I looked at Chloe. "Richard's new pet project?"

Richard stiffened. "Chloe Davis is a brilliant engineer. She's here to contribute to Sterling Innovations."

"Is she now?" I drawled.

Marcus pushed himself off the sofa. "So, the prodigal son returns. We've been hearing so much about you."

Leo just cracked his knuckles.

The lines were drawn.

My home, invaded.

My company, targeted.

Let the games begin.

Chapter 2

Dinner was a command performance.

Richard insisted. "A family meal. To welcome you back, Alex. And to properly introduce Chloe, Marcus, and Leo."

The tension in the dining room was a physical thing. You could cut it with one of Victoria's ridiculously expensive knives.

Marcus started it.

"So, Alex," he began, swirling wine in his glass, "heard you
