The Mega Comeback of Peter Jackson

Author: : Rich Peter
Genre: Romance
Mary and Peter Jacobson used to be a happy couple, until Mary was promoted as the new managing director of Williamson group. After this, Mary started feeling that Peter was not a good match for her anymore and proposed a divorce. However, Mary was not aware that Lisa, who is the head of a conglomerate that rules over all companies in the country, will take an interest in her husband, Peter. Mary's future success will then depend on Lisa's favor, which will be primarily influenced by Peter.

Chapter 1 The resentment

"Mr Peter, I'm here to pass to you the information your wife sent me." Eve said to Peter Jacobson with a smirk reaction on her face.

Peter was Mary's husband, while Eve was her personal assistant.

"So my wife can no longer come out of her office to meet me but you?" He questioned. He was invited to her new office for the first time, three weeks after she assumed the position of the managing director of the Williamson group, a multimillion dollar company.

Peter wondered what she was about to say but he felt bad not being able to see her in person, all his hope was to see her.

"She's quite busy so she can't come to see you, and besides it isn't so significant to see you before she can pass her message across to you!" The PA said with so much of an irritated expression on her face.

"Then don't bother about passing the information to me. I'm her husband, whenever she's ready to tell me, she will come see me." He was about to rise and go when Eve stopped him

"She wants a divorce!" she blurted.

Hearing this, Peter's heart became shattered. He wasn't even bringing his thoughts up to this. He froze to the spot, his head lowered with grief. This made him speechless because he really loved his wife.

"Everything is already prepared, so you need to listen!" She further said.

So this was actually coming from his wife.

He raised his eyes as Eve cleared her throat, which he believed was to grab his attention.

"Here are the documents she has prepared for you through the help of her lawyer, everything is set and the only thing left to do is to sign." Hearing about the lawyer and signing being the only thing left, Peter's mood changed but he composed himself. Eve was watching at him with sarcasm to mock him should he show emotions.

He wanted to disappoint her.

He watched as Eve pushed the files closer to him over the table. His heart was seriously pumping inside of him.

"Is she really serious about this?" He asked.

"You can as well find that out for yourself, open it and check!" Eve was serious, showing some irritation at the same time.

Peter couldn't wait to open it, he scanned through the heading. The divorce agreement heading was clearly stated. . "What's the meaning of this?" He rose up. Eve gestured on him to sit.

"Please sit. There's no need for anger. Your wife doesn't want you again and wishes to cut ties with you. Hope that's clear enough for you to accept with good faith and not rant around."

He wanted to challenge Eve but she was a woman and besides she wasn't the one he was targeting. He wanted to speak with his wife, Mary. He pulled out his phone from his back pocket and dialed her number.

For sometimes now her line hasn't been going while she's at work, but should he use a new number, it would go. One day it went, and she discovered it was him who was calling, she asked why he kept disturbing her and then ended the call. Since then she no longer picked his calls.

He was surprised that she kept her line open today.

"Mary, what's the meaning of this? Why about the divorce agreement your PA is giving to me?" His voice was raised as he talked to her with anger.

"Mind you, I'm now the managing director of this company. Speak to me with some respect!" Her voice was cold and harsh. "You don't realize I'm no longer in your class?" This hurt him so much.

He also worked in that company, but he worked in the lowest division as a delivery man with his office in the basement.

"Is this my wife, or someone else saying this?" He questioned deep within himself. He couldn't believe this. Before Mary attained her new position and became a millionaire, she was the best wife to him, caring and respectful. They have been married for three years now. They had only a month or less left to mark their wedding anniversary and this was happening right before his eyes.

He had already begun his little preparations to make her happy even though he had no money.

"What have I done, can you tell me? Why do you want to divorce me?" Being that he couldn't record any wrong he did, he wanted to know why his wife would just stay without any reason and want to divorce him.

She gave some seconds of silence, sending strokes of suspense towards Peter. When his eyes met with Eve, her assistant, she was gazing at him with a smirk on her lips.

"I don't think you're fit to be my husband, I'm doing this to maintain my image. A poor husband degrades me as per my position. I guess that's enough to explain why I'm doing this!"

Peter lowered his head, running his fingers through his hair on confusion and frustration.

"Ahhhh!" Peter sighed. He threw the phone on the couch he was sitting on in the guest office.

"So you'd tell me it's not because you've seen someone else better than me you want to divorce me?" He asked, still doubting her reasons.

"Of course not! If at all I were to see someone else, it wouldn't be of your caliber, someone great just as me or richer than me. I need a baby girl treatment, I can't suffer with you anymore."

"But you already have money?"

"Shouldn't I have the privilege of being treated so well by my husband and since you can't, I'm afraid I have to give you up for someone else!"

She was saying her mind. Then she got pissed at him wasting his time, she thought he would just get angry, sign and leave.

"Enough of these questions!" She yelled at him. "I think I'll have to come now and make you sign, after this I want nothing to do with you." She said with so much seriousness.

She hit the table from her end. Peter could hear it.

In the next five minutes, she arrived at the guest office. "What made it so difficult for you to be here in the first place?" Peter asked her with a stern face. She smirked at his pride, when he should be begging.

"What do you want, why can't you just understand that I don't want you again and sign this? I don't have much time to waste with you!"

Peter was drifting back, he hadn't seen this aggressive part of his wife before. His eyes were clear at this moment, it was obvious she didn't want her again, especially now she confessed with her own mouth she eyes another man.

"I'm giving you this advantage of signing this document now and you would get eight million dollars to take care of your miserable self!" She dropped a credit card on the table.

"Sign this and take the card, go off my life. I never want to see you again," she repeated.

Peter gave her an irritated look. "You think I'm so poor I'd roll on the floor and beg you to stay with me? Give me that, I'm signing right away, as for your filthy money, keep it I don't want it!" He pushed the card away from him.

It took great courage to do this. He was hurt and loved her so much he would never imagine leaving her. But she had made her decisions and he respected it. He took a deep breath and signed on the document.

After signing his signature, he dropped the pen and left the office without even looking back. She watched him go in relief. She was now free of his wretched grip.

"You have done well madam." Her PA said. "Your mother will be proud of you."

Chapter 2 Two

Peter decided to go to the park to sit and think of this disappointment that had befallen him. His heart was heavy, right there he didn't know where to go. As Mary has divorced him, she's sure to send him out of the apartment her family gave her right from when she was a teen.

Her mother wouldn't even let him step foot into the house again now that he wasn't a part of their family anymore.

"How am I going to survive?" He asked himself. He didn't want to show these emotions while he was with her, it would cause her to laugh at him.

"I'm so frustrated right now!" He grunted, dropping his hands which he was using to support his chins. Mary was richer than him, her family was well to do, so she most of the time took care of him before she attained her current status. Even before his divorce, she did see to his needs although sometimes it came with bits of insults.

He would have overlooked it if she didn't ask for a divorce as he loved her so much. Seeing the way he loved and had her genuine interest at heart even though he was poor, he vowed.

"She'll absolutely regret this, I promise her!" He believed she might never see a faithful and loyal guy like him again, even though she met someone ten times richer than her.

While having thoughts of the fear of being homeless and hungry, his phone rang, a strange number popped up on the screen.

Since he did not know who's number it was, he thought it would be a housekeeper calling him to come take his properties from his ex-wife's house. He had no properties, well of course his clothes.

"Hello?" He said when he picked the call.

"Yes. Are you Peter Jacobson?" A huge voice commanding much respect and authority loomed.

"Yes, I am..." He wanted to ask who was talking to him, but his mind was telling him that this must be someone important. "This is not the voice of a housekeeper." He thought to himself.

"Your attention is urgently needed at 100 11th street, if you could be here in the next one to two hours, I would really appreciate!" A lady's voice sounded, it was some important voice he had been hearing on the radio but he couldn't recall now."

"We've heard about your expertise in handling special health issues." She added. Surprise caught Peter, he was confused.

"A great reward awaits you if you handle this case successfully!" She added, then ended the call.

The lady's last statement prompted him to want to check this location out. Maybe he might get some money to feed on for a while, while he navigates on what to do next.

Then as he was heading out of the park, his eyes met with someone so familiar.

It was his mother-in-law.

"Hello mom!"

Putting aside the incident that occurred today, he widened his arms rushing forth to give Vivian a hug, she was his mother-in-law after all, he couldn't let what her daughter did affect the way he greeted her although she sometimes in the past urged her daughter to leave him. He didn't want to look at everything people did to him.

"Drop those filthy hands of yours, why would you cheat on my daughter?" Peter thought she was alone, all of a sudden, her second daughter emerged from the corner of the pathway.

"I even came to greet you, mom, after your daughter disappointed me, you aren't happy?" His voice was sarcastic, Vivian got his intention.

"Yes, has he denied it mom?" Cynthia looked so serious. Peter was surprised.

"What are you talking about?" He spread his hands in deep confusion. "What are you two doing here? Who even told you both that I was here?" He asked them.

"Look, he's feigning ignorance mom, like he doesn't know what we are talking about." Cynthia mocked him. He was fuming with anger. Wasn't it enough that Mary decided to divorce him, that they had to gang up here and accuse him?

"I was present at my daughter's wedding ceremony, she made a promise before everyone to stay with you forever, except you cheat on her before she leaves. That was a serious vow from her, so you must have cheated before she decided to part ways with you."

Peter was baffled at such a well-constructed lie, he raised his hands to his waist and stared at them both with a shocked expression coupled with irritation.

He could see it so obviously that this was a plan.

He wasn't even given the chance to talk further when Cynthia pulled out his phone from his pocket, and played an audio tape of his voice with another woman. The woman's voice wasn't familiar but that was his voice.

The audio was edited, he had never talked such with any woman before. He took Mary very seriously and was very loyal to her.

"Excuse me, I guess you're just here to waste my time. I have some important appointments to attend to." He attempted to push his way through and pass but Cynthia blocked him, pushing him back, he knew he was serious at this point.

"You think you can break my sister's heart and go scot free when I'm dating a gangster, I'll deal with you. She's my blood, so I'll fight for her." Cynthia then signaled her gangster boyfriend, who surfaced from the back.

"Deal with him!" She ordered.

The boyfriend balled his fist and was almost throwing a hard punch at Peter but Peter dodged. He attempted a second punch but Peter still avoided.

After the third attempt, he could no longer cope with his rising anger. He jacked the gangster boyfriend off his feet and threw him upon the ground, leaving him groaning in pain and his mother gasping.

"Did you guys come here to complete the humiliation Mary drained on me?" He barked at both of them.

"Why would you harass my boyfriend? Do you know I can hold you responsible for this? You should pity yourself," Cynthia shouted at him.

"You don't even have money to feed, yet you dare raise your filthy hands on my daughter's boyfriend!" Vivian said to him.

Peter looked at her with sinister eyes, he just wished they were not women, same way he just dealt with the man, he would have dealt with them too.

"Get off my way, I no longer have time for you guys, take heed not to cross my path!" He stormed off their presence in anger, not even pausing to look back.

The appointment he was called for was the most important thing to him now. He couldn't let them add to the harassment Mary already gave him.

Chapter 3 Three

Vivian stood there seeming defeated, she turned around to watch as Peter was leaving. She didn't want him to leave scotfree without being hurt. She saw at that point a van of SWAT which was the most ruthless sect of the police force patrolling, she raised her voice welling.

"Help! Help! Come back here, you have injured my daughter's boyfriend!" She kept screaming. "Please help, officers. He abused me and my daughter, assaulted her boyfriend, now he's getting away!"

She even had fake tears in her eyes, after this thought came up in her mind, she hurriedly took up a razor and slashed her wrist and punched her face so hard that it became red. This she did to lay the accusation on Peter, so the police would believe.

"Heyy, heyy!" The cops went after Peter. He was still walking along the pathway, almost reaching the gate of the park when he felt heavy grips from both sides. He turned immediately, he almost fainted seeing these ruthless officers in black.

"Come here with us!" They forced him into the back of their cop car and returned back to where he left Vivian, she was now grinning with a sinister expression.

"Now I've got you! Let's see how you get out of this one." She uttered inside of her, really happy. Pride shone on her face.

"Why did you assault this woman and her daughter?" Their chief questioned him, but he shook his head implying he didn't know anything about them. They hit his head, pushing him down and making him sit on the bare ground.

Peter lowered his head. This shame was too much for him especially in a public place like this and he couldn't resist the police's order.

He felt so bad.

"How I wish the ground would open up and swallow me!" This was his in depth wish at this moment. It seemed that the police were just favoring Vivian, they were overdoing things, slapping and starting to hit Peter for no just reason all in the name of coaxing him to say the truth.

"What she said about me assaulting her and her daughter isn't true. I never laid my hands on any of them at first." He knew they started the assault which gave him the boldness to defend himself in the face of this.

He was bold despite his assault, he couldn't afford to go nervous and afraid so long. He needed to speak up.

While thinking who would rescue him from this dangerous sect of the police to go meet up with his appointment, he heard a voice call from behind.

"Helloooo," it was that same voice that called him on the phone, some minutes ago. Everyone paused to turn and look at who was speaking.

It was Madame Lisa, the eldest daughter of the multibillion business family and the heir to the dynasty, a popular figure both in the country and beyond. She was as well popular because she was kind and caring.

"What do you guys think you are doing to him? Is this how the law calls on you to treat a suspect?" She had gotten some diploma in law a few years back but she decided to school for her future position as CEO.

Seeing her approach them, the cops knew something was going to happen. They were scared, but Peter was more surprised. How did Lisa ever get to hear of him, was she even tracking him to this place? He wondered who she would want a broke and unpopular guy like him to treat.

"Give me your ID cards!" She commanded all of them and they had to obey, after getting it from them, she stuck out her hand and held Peter up, leading away from the scene.

Vivian was disappointed with the way things turned out, she was speechless seeing the cops sect and everyone submitting to Lisa.

"I'm utterly disappointed, why didn't you tell her he wanted to strangle my daughter's boyfriend, seeing him on the ground, she would believe it!"

"Ma'am, you can do that yourself!" They retorted, got into their cars and left.

"Let's talk inside my car!" Lisa offered. "I'm the one who called, I will be driving you there!" She said with a serious face.

When the self-acclaimed gangster of a boyfriend managed to rise, he was having severe back pain. Vivian and Cynthia felt so hopeless, Vivian picked her phone and called Mary, telling her what happened, then asked her to come.

"Okay mom, I'll be coming now!" She replied with haste and immediately was on her way.

Mary arrived in the next ten minutes, her office wasn't far from the park, they were located on the same street. Mary could sight her immediate ex-husband with Lisa as she was driving through the gate. Her eyes blinked with shock, she couldn't believe the sight. Her company was under Lisa's family control. Even if the company was worth hundreds of million, it was just a grain when compared to the whole sack, the Thompson's group.

She had to rush to her mom.

"What's happening, mom?" Her voice was shaking in panic and she was rushing over words. Her mother was surprised.

"Your ex-husband talked so down at me. He no longer has respect for people, use your position to teach him a lesson!" Vivian barked, trying to influence her daughter.

"No, no, I can't do this for today," she replied, shaking her head.

"Why Mary? You know we've always seen you as our family's activist?"

"Mom, as I was driving into this park, I sighted Peter with Lisa. I'm just scared. I'm sorry there's nothing I can do."

A second disappointment struck Vivian right there in the face, for a while she couldn't talk.

Mary was afraid of reacting, she knew with one phone call that Lisa made, she could lose her job.
